In the dead of the night, on snub island, the wind blew and made one young man's task a little bit harder.
he wished it didn't have to be like this, oh lord did he, but one way or anther, he was doing his task tonight.
At 5'7, the man didn't seem like much, and he was barely over 18.
He had traded his usual attire of dark blue cargo shorts, a long button up t-shirt that he left unbutton at the bottom.
he still wore his green marble-like necklace with an arrow shaped point around his neck, though it was hidden under a long black shirt and pants.
Tonight, he wasn't Joey the friendly guy from the poor side of the island, tonight, he was Hookshot, the unknown shadow that had been plague the Alwright family for the pass month.
The old man, as thats all he ever let Joey call him, had saved him as child, from starving, fed him and looked after him like a son.
And sadly, it was the old mans son, James that was tonight problem.
On a Island where the rich owned everything, and poor had to fight for what was left over, James was the worse of the worse, and made sure Joey knew not to come around the mansion after his father died, and no he wasn't going to share the wealth like his old man did.

"Hookshot surprise!"
Joey had a advantage over most of the poor.
he'd be the first to admit it.
He thought he'd bitten into rotten fruit as a kid, only to find out he'd eaten a devil fruit, a secret he kept to himself.
with the powers of the coil coil fruit, he was more or less a living spring, any to draw puts of himself in to himself, then spring them forward.
As his arms sailed over, and latched onto a window, and Joey felt himself dragged over, he was glad he'd spent the money on a mask to hide his short black hair and his brown eyes.

He rolled into the room, shattering glass and then sweat dropped, as four armed guards were waiting for him, along with James.
deadly pale and looking like a stick man wearing a white wig, James rest his hands covered in rings on a jewel encrusted cane.
"I'm sorry, were you hoping I'd leave my money in here again for you to steal?" He asked, smirking.
"Hook shot whammy!"
"Hookshot what a?"
The answer, came as Joey punched out one, two...three...FOUR of the guard, and James screamed like a little girl and took off running.
"Hookshot snatch!'
He made it partway down a hallway, when the power hand of Joey's griped him, and dragged him back.
"Now about that money..."

The next morning, those who needed it most, had money, while Joey relaxed o the beach, the Marines all in a fit over the theft.

"We're out of meat again!?" Sanji roared and then glared at Luffy, who was picking his nose and looking up.
The fridge was raided, and the lock laying to the side and Sanji started to curse as he tried to salvage what he could.
"I'm getting Frankie to make a lock out of Sea stone next time!" Sanji snapped.
"But..But then I won't be able to have meat!" Luffy gasped, looking horrified.
"When I came in and saw the mess, i couldn't belive my eyes!" Brooke said, sipping his milk.
"And I don't even have any! Skelton joke! Yohohohoho!"
"That's it, both of you out of here!" Sanji roared.

Nami was checking the maps, and smiling as they were pulling up to the next Island, Frankie was having a pose off with Usopp, with Chopper judging.
"Snub Island...gee doesn't this sound fun."she muttered. right about then, Luffy and Brooke can flying out from under the decks of the thousand sunny, and slammed into Franky and Usopp.
"Did you break anther one of my locks?" Franky demanded, shaking Luffy.
"Thank goodness you caught me!" Brooke said, sitting on top of Usopp.
"I thought I was gonna die...oh wait...I'm already dead!"

They were cut off as two marine ships came up to their, Nami already getting uneasy.
"Ahoy there, prepare to be boarded!" came the call.
"Nobody boards my ship!" Luffy said and stood up. swinging his arm.
"Luffy wait, this island is full of rich people, they just wanna make.Sure.."Nami trailed off, as Luffy used the gum gum riffle to put a hole in the first ship.
"why me?" She asked, tears running down her cheeks.
The Marines on the first ship panicked and went back, leaving the other ship to promise to send the full wrath of the Marines stationed there after them, then they took off.
"Luffy you Asshole, how are we suppose to get supplies now?" Nami Demanded, Slapping him in the head.
"What supplies?" he asked dimly.
"Well, I heard they had those rich houses with poor locks.." Nami said, her eyes turning to Berri.
"We're stocked up fine, and we didn't even need to stop here for the log post. let's just keep going." Zoro Grumbled.
"Yeah, we're stocked up on Everything but meat...and you'll have to wait till we hit the next island for more." Sanji said, Walking up.
"No...Meat?" Luffy asked.
"That's right no...Oh no...don't even think of it!" Nami Said.
Luffy had turned around and seemed to be judging just how far away the nearest grip was.
"Luffy please don't do this...we can catch fish, lots and lots of fish.."Nami pleaded.
"You already know it's useless." Zoro said with a grin "Might as well pull in further to help him out."
"One man, risking everything to feed us, it's so beautiful!" Franky sobbed, grabbing his guitar.
"KNOCK THAT OUT!" Nami roared, and sent Sanji after Franky and Luffy, both getting kicked.
"Sigh...If we do this..we can't be ready to grab you in a instant...We'll be back in two days...Take the Mini merry and Zoro with you." Nami sighed.
"Wait what? why do I have to go?"
"Do you really trust Luffy alone for two days?"
"...So how much Berri are you giving us?"
"....Enough."

Seconds later, the mini merry made it's way towards the shore and the Thousand Sunny made a clean get away.
"So just you and me huh?" Luffy asked grinding.
"Just like back at the start." Zoro said with a grin.
"Wow...that was a long time ago." Luffy said.
They were walking on shore now, holding large bags for all the meat Luffy meant to buy.
"I hope the mini merry will be alright by itself..." Zoro said, looking back.
"Don't worry, we chained it down and used Frankys locks to do it!' Luffy said as happy as ever.

In the market place, a fight was breaking out as a little old lady from the poor part of town was being shook by James, with his usual four marine guards.
"What are you doing with that much money? it's mine isn't it! give it backkkk!" He screamed.
"tch, There's always one on every island.." Zoro mutter, starting the free his sword.
"I don't think you should do that friend." Joey said quietly, standing behind the pirates.
"Why not? he clearly deserves something picking on a old lady!" Luffy said.
"Because he's the richest man on the island and pays the marines double what they make to act like his personal police force. It sucks and we all hate to see it, but you only make it worse for her and get yourself in trouble."
"huh."
Luffy thought about what was said for a whole five seconds, while Zoro sighed and looked up asking why.
"Gum Gum Riffle!"
"Right now we should be getting ready to run." Zoro said.
James fell over as the fist smacked him in the face, Giving him a second black eye to go with the one Joey had given him the night before.
He fell on his ass and the little old lady ran for it, as James stared in shock at their direction.
"Oh shit.." Joey said, knowing what was about to happen.
"He's Hookshot! That straw hat is Hookshot!" he screamed.
"You're who now?" Zoro asked.
"Hookshot is a thief around here who steals from him and give the money to the poor.." Joey said and tugged on their collars.
"We should run!"
"Why? I can try them.." Luffy said, winding arm.
"Because if we stay here, he'll call in all of them, and innconts might get mixed in the fight!'
"Tch, Fine." Zoro grumbled and turned with Joey and now Luffy and the three ran off.

Joey sighed as he lead them to a little safe house he himself had used over or twice.
"Crap. crap crap crapppp!" he muttered and kicked over a can.
they were in a grey stone structure, baron save for the chest and before mentioned bucket.
"Aren't you all worked up." Zoro said.
"You're screwed, you'll never be able to move about in public..you'll have to get out of here right away.." Joey was saying pacing back and forth.
"We can't, our ship isn't coming back for a while."
"And I wanna buy meat!"
"And he wants to buy meat."
"No you don't understand...now that he thinks you're the thief he won't stop on till you're caught or driven off the island." Joey said and then sat down.
"Why does he think Luffy is this hook shot guy?" Zoro asked.
"Cause Hookshot ate the coil coil fruit to spring out attacks..so it looks alike like his sketching but it's not quite as easy."
"and you know all this because...?"
"-sigh- I'm hook shot."
"Wow! Around rubber man!" Luffy asked, looking all excited.
"Sketch!"
"I already told you I'm not a rubber man I just-"
"Sketch! Sketch!"
"He's not going to stop till I do it is he?" Joey asked Zoro.
"That's Luffy for you..."
"Wait...Luffy...as in Monkey d.?" Joey asked, his eyes shinning as he looked at Luffy, who in this moment of hero worship, had started to pick his nose.
"The one and only, thank god." Zoro chuckled.
"Then you're his first mate, Zoro!" he gasped.
"Well you're two for two.." Zoro said, leaning back.
"Oh man oh man oh man!" Joey yelped.
"I'm gonna mark out!"
"Is he okay?" Luffy asked Zoro as Joey semi danced around.
"Seems to be..wake me up when he's done." Zoro said and slid down to go to sleep.

Soon after, Joey had calmed down, and after showing Luffy how he's arms and legs could coil up, he left to go get them all something to eat, and to check up on the news.
"Anything is fine, just make sure to get lots of booze." Zoro said.
"Nothing but meat.." Luffy said
"..It's a odd experience to find out you're heros are weirdos.." Joey muttered, before walking out.

Joey gritted his teeth, and slid back, panting as blood trickled down the side of his face.
"It doesn't have to be like this Joey...out of respect for the old man, I'll let you go once you give up Hookshot.." He said, looking at his nails.
Joey hadn't been out more than half a hour, when he found out the marines were after him as well, as James had seen him helping Luffy.
"You're after the wrong guys.." He said.
Normally he could of taken out the group of ten Marines that came after him, but he was determined not to use his devil fruit powers.
If he let on that he was Hookshot, then James would go after anybody he was know to hang out with and the end results would not be pretty.
the big guy, at least 6'11 cracked his knuckles as he moved towards Joey.
"Suit yourself.." James said.

"It's been two hours.." Luffy said, looking out a window.
"And we'll wait longer if we have to." Zoro said, not even opening his eyes.
"But i'm hungeyyyyy!" Luffy whined.
Whatever Zoro was about to say, was cut off as a loud speaker anoucement was made by a passing cart.
"ATTETION HOOKSHOT! WE HAVE YOU'RE FRIEND IN CUSTODY AND WE'RE GOING TO EXCUTE HIM IN ONE HOUR IF YOU DO NOT TURN YOURSELF IN!"
"Awww crap.." Zoro muttered.

"This is a waste of time.." Joey said, bound with the most foolproof handcuffs James could afford which were sadly made from sea-stone.
"half a hour to go.." James said, looking at a clock.
They were in a large room, animal hides on the walls and a massive fireplace roared, heating up the room and making all by James sweat.
"I want you to know..That I have every intention of killing you either way." James said, turning around.
the group of marines he had in the room said nothing, but watched the door and windows.
"Still bitter after all this time?" Joey asked.
"I never could understand, why did he like you so much? Don't get me wrong, I know father loved me, but he didn't like me one bit." James said bitterly.
"Maybe it was you're love of money and acting like a snob to everyone." Joey suggested sarcastitly.
"Funny aren't you?" James asked, before reaching out and having a gun placed in his hand.
he lined it up with Joey's head, though it shook quite a bit.
"Are you really going to kill me? or are you going to sit back and have one of your thugs do it for you?" Joey asked.
"You don't think I have it in me to murder someone do you?" James asked, grinning.
"You couldn't be more wrong about that..I've already murdered someone...someone we both knew."
Joey's mouth dropped, and it dawned on him who he was talking about.
"You...you.."
"The insane old coot was going to give away most of his wealth to the poor, let them live in here...and live among the poor..I wasn't about to be reduced to the ranks of a nobody because of a insane old man."
Tear slid down Joey's cheeks.
"But...they said it was a heart attack.."
"And yet he never ate anything by bread and fruit. he was the healthiest old coot i ever knew. A little poison, slipped in some wine i brought him, A gift i said, to try and make up for all our misunderstands.."
the Marines looked from one to each other, unsure of what to say or do.
"You never heard any of this, or I'll report you to Whitestone." James called out.
Whitestone, a former famed swordsman, now the commander of the marine base...
"You're a monster." Joey said, shaking with rage as he tried to break free.
"Sticks and stones.." James chuckled.
"You're also a dumb piece of shit, and your Marine resources suck!" Joey yelled, working his way to his feet.
"How dare you!" James yelled and pistol whipped him, knocking Joey's head back but he snapped back and glared.
"I'm Hookshot you asshole! And the guy you think is Hookshot is Straw hat Luffy with his first mate Roronoa Zoro!"
"W-wait what?" James shrieked, turning white, as did the marines.
"That's right asshole, the guy who took down entries lobby is coming here at you're invitation!"

"Man, these guys aren't all that good are they?" Zoro muttered, looking at the mass of bodies on the floor.
"I know, I didn't even have to go gear second to stop any of them." Luffy said, cranking his knuckles.
they raced towards the stairs, when Zoro stopped, and tossed Luffy backward.
"Hey! what the big-"
Luffy stopped his complaint, as the stairs seemed to shatter about, and a tall albino, hairless but in Marine uniform walked towards them, holding two swords.
"Roronoa Zoro...now this is a pleasure. I see that fool upstairs mixed up his Intel. No matter..when I take you and him down, the rest of you're crew will scatter and I'll be hailed for stopping the Straw hats once and for-"
"Tatsumaki!"
Not even letting Whitestone finish his rant, Zoro took him out with dragon attack, and then gave Luffy a thumbs up.
"I'll make sure everyone stays out for the count down here, you go help Joey."

"what the hell was that?" James whimpered, turning towards the sounds of fighting.
"That's the straw hats coming for you.." Joey said.
"W-Wait...If i let you go, you have to save me from them!" James yelped.
"You're a devil fruit user if you're Hookshot! you gotta save me!" he screamed.
"I'd rather jump in the ocean than help you." Joey said, as the doors flew off their hinges, and Luffy stepped forward.
"Awww, there's only ten in this room." Luffy whined.
"Kill him! Kill him!" James shrieked.
the Marines looked at each other, then at Luffy, then back at James.
"With all due respect sir, the only way he got up here was though Whitestone, and if he beat him, we don't stand a chance." Said the large Marine that had busted Joey open.
"WHAT!?"
The marines all dropped their weapons and backed away from Luffy.
"But..but...I'm paying you.." James sputtered.
:Not enough." Said the large Marine who tossed a key to Luffy. "That's to your friends handcuffs."
Luffy grinned, and slowly walked towards James who was screaming and pissing himself out of fear and he ran into the hallways.
Luffy let him go, and then let Joey free.
"Why didn't you nail him?" Joey asked.
"Cause I thought you'd want to hit him first." Luffy said with a grin.
"Good man." Joey grinned back, and took off.
"Oh James..."

"T-This can't..be happening.." James whimpered.
he was in his bedroom,and was trying to open his vault to seal himself in, but was trembling soo much he could barely recall the combination.
"JAMES!"
He screamed, and then slowly turned away, and there was Joey, across the room from him.
"P-Please...I..I'm too young to die! Share me! ...L-Look, I have lots of Money..and and...I'll give alot of it to you! Money makes every thing better right?" James whimpered.
"You've used the old mans money to free you from whatever troubles you ran across in life. I'm going to show you that you can't always buy your way out of trouble."
"D-Don't kill...me.." James begged, sliding to his knees.
"Hookshot Surprise!"
his arms went into at first, then poof, extended over to James and nabbed the little weasel ad pulled him back towards him.
"No...i'm not going to kill you. I should, and almost every part of me wants to, but despite it all, you're still the Old man's son, and thats the only thing keeping you alive." Joey said.
"Then..you're not gonna beat me up?" James asked hopefully.
"Oh hell no, you're ass is still mine." Joey said.

When the Marines were clearing out the area latter on, they arrested James for being a intruder at first, his face was so swollen and beaten he couldn't be recognized.
the vault was cleared out, and James was begging to be arrested anyways, to avoid Joey's wrath.

"You know, I owe you guys alot." Joey said, watching as most of the massive wealth was put to use by the poor of the island, fixing building and buying what was truly needed.
"Oh?" Zoro asked, drinking some beer and smirking.
"I was barely making a difference..with you're help, I managed to stop the worst of the worst, and help the poor."
"All in a days work." Luffy chuckled, between mouthfulls of meat.
they were on the beach, the mini merry ready to go and loaded with a share of the gold and large sack of meat.
"You know Nami is still going to charge us interest on the Berri we didn't spend right?" Zoro asked, speaking from experience.
"I just can't belive the Marines are letting us go." Luffy chuckled.
"Well, It's not like they could really stand up to the two of us, let alone Hookshot too." Zoro said, and nodded.
"So, what are you going to do now?" Luffy asked.
"Well, I'm not needed on the island anymore..and I don't think i could bare to stay, knowing what happened to the old man. I was wondering...If maybe I could join you're crew."
"I dunno, we already have a thief.." Zoro said playfully and nudged Luffy.
"Joey, you're welcome to be our Nakama!" Luffy said and slapped Joey on the back.
The thousand Sunny appeared on the ocean, and together, the three friends started up the mini merry, and went on their way not only to their ship, but to many more adventures to come.

Meanwhile in jail....

"I can't belive you're soldiers sold us out!" James whined, dressed in prison clothes and sharing a cell with Whitestone.
"And all my lovely money is being wasted on those awful poor..this is the final-"
Whitestone growled, and slammed a fist into James face, knocking out what few teeth remained.
"Always wanted to do that.." he grunted.
