I do not own Pokemon, and make no money from this story.
From the top, to no where.
It had started early, most days did. She flew Blu to the Pokemon Center in Cerulean City to settle some sort of trouble in the Cerulean Cave. She'd returned her Dragonite Blu to his PokeBall, and released Flash Flare. She didn't have time to waste today, so she had to get her job done quick and easy. Flash Flare was her Rapidash, and made quick work of getting to the front of the Cave, where Aniue was not surprised to find a group of grunts hanging out at the front of the cavern.
About 17 defeated Rocket Pokemon later, she and Flash Flare made their way into the cave, walking side by side. Another batch of battling, and Flash Flare found out she was very, very tired from so many battles so she requested to be returned which her trainer granted and released a well known Bug Pokemon- Butterfree.
Of course though, RedHope wasn't an Ordinary Butterfree. She was bright red, cold, and glew with a soft red aura around her. The Bug could use very powerful wind and Psychic moves, and it's Silver Wind was definitely nothing to sneeze at. The next group of grunts they encountered swore their fire type Pokemon would defeat RedHope, but after their Pokemon all lay knocked out on the ground, Aniue had told them what she told everyone- "In order to use a weakness against my Pokemon, you must first HIT my Pokemon." Then she'd ordered a stun Spore attack and moved on into the cave.
There were so many Grunts there, she knew it was something serious, and ended up using all of her Pokemon for at least 14 individual battles that day all before noon, which is about the time she was able to free an unknown Pokemon from a metallic cage. She'd learned the Pokemon's name was Mewtwo, and he thanked her for freeing him and even teleported her back to the Pokemon League HeadQuarters as thanks.
Then she'd had a Challenger waiting at her gate, so she had to get up there fast. She was surprised to see a calm faced trainer waiting for her, by then most of them were completely worn out and dead tired. He had been different, he had been ready for her, and not the least bit shaken by her perfect record.
Aniue closed her eyes, remembering that day, every noise every detail so clearly in her mind.
"The Champion's first Pokemon will be-" It hadn't taken Aniue more then a second to release her Rapidash, who reared up thankful for the short rest and more then ready to continue the fight now. "Flash Flare the Rapidash- to go against the Champion's Pokemon, the Challenger will choose-" A Jolteon appeared on the field he owned with a bark as the ref raised both flags. "The Battle between Rapidash and Jolteon, BEGIN!"
"Jolt- Let's get this over fast! Agility and then Thunder when you get up close and personal!" He shouted as his Jolteon vanished from view, and ended up right in front of Flash Flare, as Aniue smirked.
"Mega Horn! Take that Thunder and throw it Right back at him!" She shouted as her Pokemon used a glowing horn as a Lightning Rod to throw the attack back at the Jolteon when something strange happened.
Instead of being hurt, it seemed to power up the Jolteon, which shocked Aniue. She'd had her Pokemon do it before, but it was a high level move, and she was surprised that another trainer could do it.
"Now! Thunder again!" He shouted as his Jolteon landed right on her horses back. The shock really hurt Flash Flare, but the Pokemon refused to give up as it charged forward, and flipped using a Body Slam on the Pokemon's underbelly getting the spikes of the Pokemon stuck in the ground while the horse got up.
Then it'd happened, "HYPER BEAM!" The Jolteon used the energy he'd been storing to Blast Flash Flare off her feet and knock her out. She'd slammed into the wall and fallen down, knocked out completely. The Ref just stared at the horse, before finally raising the flag to declare the first match had gone to the Challenger.
Flash Flare was returned to her PokeBall, which was kissed softly. "You did your best. I understand you're tired." She assured as she put the PokeBall back on her belt.
"ThunderBox! Let's show this trainer what we're all about!" She shouted as her Raichu, her original Raichu jumped out onto the field, his cheeks full of static electricity. His trainer knew him best though, her Raichu was tired just like her Rapidash had been.
"Return Jolteon! Let's go Golem!" He shouted releasing the Megaton Pokemon. "Let's squish that mouse- Roll Out attack!" He shouted as the Golem's limbs and head tucked into his body and he started to roll right for the Raichu.
"Focus Punch Thunderbox!" His trainer shouted as the Raichu's fist glowed and sent the Golem flying. The Rock type Pokemon had stopped rolling, and was laying there with spiral for eyes. Her Raichu's one hit knock out came in handy as usual!
She smiled, she'd been worried when Flash Flare had lost, but Thunderbox always pulled out a win for her. The next Pokemon to be released was a Machamp, who used four powerful fist attacks at once to send her Raichu reeling and KO-ed.
"Machamp wins, Raichu is unable to battle!" The Ref said, in truth he was getting nervous himself. Since she was 11 years old to now, nearly 15 she had held the position of Pokemon Champion without even losing a battle, here two of her Pokemon were knocked out and it was getting kind of impressive of the challenger.
With a bellowing cry, Blu was released to the battle field. The Dragonite's wings flapped several times before he touched down onto the ground of the battle field, ready to blast the Machamp away.
"Return Machamp! Let's go Aerodactyl!" He shouted as the Rock/Flying type appeared and soon the battle had been taken to the skies.
Twisters, Dragon Rage's, Wing Attacks, and Hyper Beams flew without hesitation on either Pokemon's side. They listened to their trainer until it finally happened. Blu went down with a Hyper Beam to the Back followed up by a Slam attack.
"Aerodactyl wins- Dragonite is unable to battle!" The ref shouted as the Dragonite was returned to his PokeBall for a well deserved rest.
"RedHope! Let's go!" She released her Butterfree who let out a cry of her name before the Battle began between the Aerodactyl and the Butterfree, with the Butterfree losing after a powerful Take Down followed by a Hyper Beam.
It wasn't just the Ref who was shocked, but Lance, Agatha, and the others who stood at the edge of the railing watching the battle in shock.
"Queen! Time to kick some ass!" Her NidoQueen burst out of her Pokeball, the impressive Nidoqueen stood at 6'5, instead of the average 4'03. Her spikes were long and deadly, and she was one fierce customer when it came to battling.
"Keep it up Aerodactyl- Use Hyper Beam one last time!" The trainer shouted, when it happened, IceQueen grabbed the flying rock type by the tail and slammed him into the ground before using Ice Beam, followed by a tail Slam which broke the sheet of ice and showed the Rock/Flying Pokemon to be completely knocked out.
"Return Aerodactyl! Let's Go Machamp!" This fight had been a fury of punches, of tough moves but once again Ice Queen came out on top. Then it had happened, the tired Nidoqueen was pitted against a Blastoise who let out a powerful Hydro Pump which, for the first time...knocked IceQueen out.
Aniue's eyes had widened as the attack hit IceQueen, and she couldn't even hear anything as she watched her Pokemon fall back, to roll twice until she landed on her stomach, weak and yet she was slowly getting up again.
"Blastoise! End this! Skull Bash!" The Turtle Pokemon slammed into the Poison type as she crashed through one of the many rocks on the arena floor. With a bellow she rose up out of the dust, before she fell forward, knocked out with the spirals for eyes.
"...N..NidoQueen is unable to battle- the winner of the round is Blastoise" The ref said shocked as were the other Elite Four. The Challenger had three Pokemon left, and Aniue only had one.
"Rosebud, it's all down to us. We need this battle to be over with as quickly as possible." She said as she released the power packed Ivysaur whose cry made the Blastoise take a step back in fear.
"We can win this Blastoise- Let's go! Use-" The trainer was interrupted from finishing his orders when Aniue ordered a `Vine Whip' attack.
The vines shot out, laced around the Blastoise's middle and sent the turtle flying back with pure strength and force. "Razor Leaf!" She ordered, as the Ivysaur released a flurry of razor Edged leaves that struck the Shellfish Pokemon over and over again.
"Blastoise! Return!" Aniue nearly cursed the Challengers ability to return his Pokemon at any given time in the battle as she stood ready. One unknown Pokemon, and a Jolteon were left in his line up, well that and his Blastoise.
It wasn't Jolteon that appeared in front of Rosebud, but a Hypno. Aniue and Rosebud got ready for the attacks that were to come, but once again they ended up pushing the Pokemon back, but this time Rosebud wasn't going to waste time with throwing the Hypno. He held the Pokemon steady with his vines, and then slammed into the Pokemon with Take Down before throwing the Pokemon into the air as his trainer ordered a Solar Beam attack.
The attack charged while Hypno righted himself in the air and his trainer called for a Psychic attack, which ended up colliding with the powerful Solar Beam attack as it was launched at the falling Pokemon.
The Hypno stood up after the explosion, and Rosebud didn't look shaken at all, as the trainer ordered a future Sight attack and then after completing the move, the Hypno went down from another Razor Leaf attack.
Jolteon's next appearance was short lived, with a Solar Beam taking out the other Pokemon with ease, but it wasn't going without a tole on Rosebud. Sweat beads were forming all over his body, and he was panting slightly heavily as he waited for the Blastoise to make a re-appearance.
When the Pokemon did, it happened. Future Sight hit, slamming into Rosebud and sending him slamming into the wall of the Stadium with enough force to shake the entire building.
"ROSEBUD!" Aniue shouted, worry and fear in her eyes as the grass Pokemon pulled himself out of the rubble and then it ended with a Mega punch attack from Blastoise.
The ref was stunned, as he held up the flag that was the Challenger's color, green.
"The Challenger wins, all of the Champion's Pokemon are unable to continue the Battle." The ref said as Aniue had hurried over to her Ivysaur, and stroked the others head gently. "Take a nice long rest Rosebud..." She said as she returned him, before welcoming the other trainer to the elite four. She had led him to where Lance, Agatha, and the others were waiting, and then she'd left. She'd tasted defeat for the first time since she and Rosebud first started out and had gone up against a flighty Pidgey named Redwing.
The fight had been unfair, as Lance found out later. Their Pokemon Champion had been wrongfully cheated out of her title, but it was too late. She'd left for Professor Oak's that night, and with his help she all but vanished from the radar, until now... nearly six months later, after the hunt for the Champion had been ongoing for nearly half a year....
