#1 Crush

Author Note: Inspired by #1 Crush by Garbage. Mildly disturbing Mikami. Imagine, no Death Note and a violently obsessed Mikami. This is a multi. chapter-ed fic and I am debating on whether or not to bring in L.

I am also searching for a beta. Email me at gorudentaiga@yahoo.com.

I would die for you
I would die for you
I've been dying just to feel you by my side
To know that you're mine
- #1 Crush (Garbage)

There it was again, Raito shivered, that prickly feeling over his skin. It felt like he was being watched. Sighing he took in his surroundings even though he knew it was useless to search for the culprit. He was on a subway train in the middle of the Morning Commute, the train was packed with too many people to accurately judge where his watcher was located. It irked Raito to no end that he, a trained detective couldn't even find out who was following him. Hell, Raito had tailed more people than he could remember. Shaking his head clear of such thoughts Raito returned to reading his newspaper. The prickly feeling never did go away.

"Fuck..." Raito muttered, opening the cupboards above the small office area before checking the drawers.

"Wow Raito-kun, I've never heard you curse before." Matsuda said in awe. Ide rolled his eyes and watched as his younger co-worker calmly searched the entire area.

"What are you looking for Yagami?" he asked.

"My coffee mug, it's not at my desk so logic states that it must be here." Raito said, still unable to locate the missing piece of ceramic. Vexed, Raito resisted the urge to puff out his cheeks as he crossed his arms in irritation. Matsuda chuckled at the sight.

"I guess even the Mighty Raito-kun is defeated by absent-mindedness." he said, laughing some more at Raito's unamused stare.

"Don't you have paperwork to deliver to Chief Yagami, Matsuda?" Raito replied, smirking evilly with the other agent yelped and ran off. Ide laughed a bit himself and smiled reassuringly at Raito.

"Don't worry Yagami, It'll show p sooner or later." All Raito could do was nod stiffly at the other's advise and stalk out of the break room.

The cafe was only a few blocks away from the station, so it was both convenient for Raito to relax there on his lunch break. Sitting at a corner table near the window Raito sipped his admittedly sub-par coffee and read his book in relative peace. The book was in English and about the works of Frederick Nietzsche; it was vastly more stimulating that hours of paperwork back at the district headquarters.

"Do yo mind if I sit here?"

Raito paused and looked up from his passage. The other man was tall, much taller than him, with long black hair. His eyes though shielded by glasses were dark grey and slightly curious as they waited for an answer. He was dressed in an impeccably neat and professional suit which Raito admired and nodded. The other man smiled and settled into the seat.

“I’m Mikami Teru, and you are Detective Yagami Raito, correct?” the bespeckled man asked. Raito raised felt his forehead crinkled slightly and Mikami laughed slightly. “Don’t look so suspicious, I was the prosecutor for the Kanto Mutilator case.” Raito shifted through his mental list of names and faces and drew a huge blank and gave the dark haired man an apologetic smile.

“I’m sorry I don’t really remember you.” he admitted. Mikami didn’t look at all insulted and shrugged with ease.

“It’s okay, after all it was one of you’re first cases, ‘Detective Prince‘.” Mikami said teasingly. Raito groaned and irritably sipped his coffee. God, how he hated that title bestowed upon him by the press; all because he was doing his job. Calling him the rival to great detectives like L and Eraldo Coil. Raito was tired of all the press and could frankly do without all the hype that came with each case he solved.

“I hate that little nickname, only the press calls me that.” Raito muttered, Mikami looked mildly amused and leaned forward.

“Then what may I call you then?” The prosecutor asked his voice dipping huskily, Raito smirked and leaned back regally in his seat.

“Yagami-san will do for now.” he replied.

“And you may call me Mikami-san.” Teru said and Raito smirked slyly.
