What Goes Around Comes Around
Kadaj stared blankly a his computer screen, still barely comprehending what he had just read. Why would Mello see him in a minute? Was this about the whole thing about how he wanted to be bitten...? Something about the situation made the remnant's heart race, and he unlocked his door before sitting on his bed, curling up and resting his chin on his knees.
Mello had been teasing him before, he was sure. It wasn't a horrible thing...but something about it irked him in a way that he couldn't put his finger on. There were a lot of conflicted feelings in his heart, things that he didn't understand and wasn't quite sure how to sort out. He sat waiting, unsure what should be expected.
Mello knocked for courtesy's sake alone, but a moment later, opened Kadaj's door himself, slipping in with all the grace and silence of...a vampire, for lack of a better (or more accurate) word. He glanced at Kadaj and sighed, shaking his head slightly, almost reprovingly.
"You haven't been feeding enough."
Then again, neither was Mello. He was feeding just enough to ward off insanity, but he didn't really want to bite anyone but Near, and didn't trust anyone biting Near but himself. That amount of control was impossible for an inexperienced person to maintain; Near could drive anyone fucking crazy.
"To be bitten is an idiotic idea."
"I'm...aware of that." Kadaj muttered his answer to both questions, but lifted his head to look at Mello. He wasn't as hungry as he'd been before. This was tolerable. The remnant took notice of the things he'd realized before: Mello smelled vaguely like food, but not as strongly as the others. He was beginning to assume that it depended on how much and how recently the other had fed.
Kadaj had already thought this out. If he couldn't get Mello to do it...he'd use his fangs and make himself irresistible. He just wanted...to know. What was it about Mello anyway...? The way he seemed to always be there, always involve himself...
"It's not that big of a deal right?" He relaxed a bit, stretching out one leg across the bed and resting his arm on his knee.
Mello'd never had regard for personal space before, save for one very rare exception a couple years prior, so he sat on the edge of Kadaj's bed, his elbows on his knees, his eyes on the ground.
"What is it, exactly, you want? To be bitten? Because I have to be honest," he murmured, casting Kadaj a side glance, "I don't trust most of the people with their...afflictions. Most of them are being fucking retarded."
Kadaj tilted his head, a little surprised at Mello being so close. He wasn't used to being touched by anyone who wasn't Sesshomaru. The remnant's lips formed a pout for a split moment, eyes crazing the other's scar. It was a focal point on his face, something that Kadaj had always wondered about and been darkly attracted to.
"I guess that that's what I want. I know it sounds ridiculous but... there's just so much I don't know, no matter what I do. And I feel like I need to know...more and more." He tried to explain, aware that he probably sounded juvenile. "...Please Mello?" He'd learned that people wanted to hear that if you asked them for something. Curious aqua eyes watched for a response.
Mello cocked an eyebrow, turning to look at Kadaj full-on. He noted that Kadaj's eyes were focused on his scar, more than anything else, but it didn't bother him as much as it should have. Kadaj was fucked up enough that such a trivial bit of curiosity didn't matter...at least, where the scar was concerned.
"You're seriously asking me, aren't you?"
Christ, he'd thought it was a joke, that Kadaj couldn't have been serious.
The surprise in Mello's voice made him blink. Why wouldn't he have been serious?
"Yes...I am. I'm serious." There was a definite pout in the remnant's voice, and he tilted his head. There was so much about Mello that he didn't know too. And somehow, Mello had managed to help him so many times already... He had to ask him this. There was no one else he felt that he could ask.
"...Please...?" Again, but this time he shifted a bit, pushing his silver hair behind one ear.
Kadaj's movements, insecure as always, were almost feminine. Mello's lips twitched, but he sighed quietly and shifted so he was kneeling on the bed, staring at Kadaj. Asking again was pointless, and Mello just wanted to get this over with.
He bit down on the tip of the middle finger on his left hand to draw away the glove before putting his bare hand against Kadaj's neck, gently tilting the boy's head. He put his free hand on Kadaj's shoulder, and leaned forward, golden hair falling over his face to mingle with the silver as Mello's fangs pierced the vein in Kadaj's neck. Mello closed his eyes and let Kadaj's blood fill his mouth.
Aqua eyes flickered as Mello pulled his glove off. His hand on his neck was almost gentle, and it gave a deceptive feeling of calm as the blonde leaned forward. When the fangs pierced his flesh, Kadaj gasped, fighting with himself to keep from struggling away. The initial sharp pain was almost instantly washed away, however, by something warm that washed through his entire body.
The remnant felt like he was going to melt into nothing, and a soft sound that was almost a whimper escaped him, fingers curling into Mello's jacket.
Mello shivered; Kadaj's blood was very different from Near's, and it was similar to the sandwiches in the fact that it was damn delicious, but didn't do a bloody thing for his hunger. Mello's eyes opened at Kadaj's quiet noise and involuntary movements, leaning further into his bite and continuing to drain Kadaj's blood, a little faster, since evidently he could handle it more than Mello's donor could.
Mello's tongue instinctively flicked over the puncture wounds, catching the droplets that would otherwise have escaped his mouth.
"M-mello..." The name fell from his lips almost involuntarily, and he couldn't seem to untangle his arms from around the blonde...when had he moved to embrace him...? He couldn't remember. Another soft sound from his lips as he shivered, pressing closer as that feeling continued to pour through him like liquid heat.
It intensified when Mello drew on him faster, and he was nearly squirming at that point, unable to keep a hold on his mind. Something like this, shouldn't have felt so good. It should have been painful, uncomfortable, but somehow Kadaj didn't want it to stop.
The remnant's heart was pounding when Mello finally pulled back, the feeling of his tongue on hypersensitive flesh making him blush deeply. Dilated aqua eyes nervously searched the other for any kind of cue as to what he was thinking, suddenly very confused as to what he should do with his limbs.
Mello drew back to meet Kadaj's eyes inquisitively, blood still dripping from lips that were paler than they should have been. Of course, if Mello was pale, Kadaj was pure white; the last thing he'd needed was less blood in his system, but Mello had been careful to take a lot less than he'd usually take from his prey.
Then again, Kadaj wasn't prey. For them, this was the vampire equivalent of a one-night stand.
Mello didn't say anything. His own heart's sporadic beating was intensely painful, but he was focusing on the taste that lingered on his lips (so much more addictive than chocolate...), and whatever that was that was shining in Kadaj's eyes. Slowly, he licked away the blood at the corner of his own mouth, then exhaled, his breath passing through his lips silently.
"Content?"
Something about the sight of blood on Mello's lips kept the silver-haired teenager's heart racing. He hated that he was trembling, something that he had realized when he finally caught his breath. There was still something burning in him even now that made him a little reluctant to drop his grip on the other vampire.
"I..." He blinked, trying desperately to get his head back on straight. "That... was what I wanted... I think." Was all he could manage. There was hunger, beginning to tug at the edges of his senses, but the remnant fought it off, much more interested in this odd feeling of... afterglow that was far more pleasant.
"You think," Mello said flatly. "You're never really sure of anything, are you?"
He knew the statement was a rhetorical one, especially given the current circumstances. Kadaj had clearly wanted to be bitten, but with that knowledge came the extremely awkward feeling that Mello had, in a sense...taken Kadaj's virginity. Now that was pushing it, and Mello blinked rapidly to rid himself of the thought.
"I...guess not." A small smile made its way to Kadaj's face, a little irritated at his own weakness in this entire situation. It had been extremely weak, what he had done, he knew that he had given into his desire in a way that his training had strictly dictated was unnecessary.
"I'm sorry, Mello." Kadaj said, still not quite ready to shift and lose the warm feeling he had. It was fine...there was a lot of things that could have happened, a lot of things that could have been wrong but...this was a lovely feeling.
"I've been really silly, haven't I...? I'm glad though." He sighed, head dropping until it almost rested on Mello's shoulder.
Mello blinked again, noting Kadaj's closeness. He grew tense, but didn't draw away; not yet. Why he was still here was beyond him, but there was nothing better to do, and despite everything, Kadaj was certainly a specimen Mello found fascinating.
"Just a bit, yeah. You'll need to feed again soon." He paused. Then: "Why did you want this so badly?"
"I...needed to know. I just...and you were the only one who..." Kadaj trailed off, aware of the acute movements in Mello's muscles. He was tensed up again and it made him feel bad. Kadaj flushed, what little blood was left in his body rushing to his face.
"Mello...Thanks." He said quietly, still not quite ready to move. He had half of a mind to take his blood back, but was aware that it would do little to no good for him. Something about Mello was definitely intoxicating. His lips were against the other's flesh before he knew what he was doing, and they drew back to bear his fangs. The remnant's arms tightened around the other vampire before he pierced his flesh, the delicious feeling of warm blood running over his tongue. He couldn't stop himself.
"Ah! Da-amn it, Kadaj..."
Mello exhaled, closing his eyes and trying to ignore the way his heart's irregular pattern increased in speed. He was aware that he'd lost the ability to speak, but not to feel. The mix of pain and pleasure had returned, but this time, there was far more pleasure, and Mello shuddered under Kadaj's mouth. Unexpected though it was, it wasn't entirely unwelcome.
Mello's muscles were tense, coiled like a cat ready to fight, but his expression was relaxed as a pure indicator of the pleasure running through him. He didn't return Kadaj's embrace, but he sure as hell didn't pull away from the bite.
The remnant came back to his senses rather quickly but couldn't bring himself to stop. The feeling of the other's essence flowing into him was like electricity, and he unknowingly twined a hand into the back of Mello's hair. With difficulty, he finally disengaged and pulled back from the blonde with a wet noise, his tongue lingering. The taste, the feel, everything was almost too mind-blowing to catalog. He pulled back, panting against Mello's flesh as he tried to make sense of what he had just done.
"I'm...s-sorry." He hissed, still trembling from the experience.
Mello opened his eyes, panting softly. As if the fact that being bitten made him squirm before the event wasn't enough, now they were vampires, and with the bite came an intense pleasure. But Kadaj? Mello licked his lips and raised a hand, brushing his fingers against Kadaj's hair before placing his hand on his shoulder and lightly pushing him back.
"Kadaj," he breathed. "You've got to be careful who you bite. Not everyone bites back in the same way."
The remnant let himself be pushed back, blinking at the blonde, curiosity etched on his face. It was a strange feeling coursing through his veins, something he couldn't put words to.
"W-what do you mean...?" He asked, honestly puzzled.
This was... was it really like what the others had said? Was it kind of like what it felt like? He wondered, still not quite in his right mind from what was happening. He lifted his hand as though to do something with it, but it only hovered in the air between them.
Mello glanced at Kadaj's fingertips, then met his eyes again.
"This experience was...similar to sex. There was less pleasure, either more or less of a mess. I'm not sure which." His eyes were predatory. "For future reference, whether it's a bite or a sexual advance, asking first is usually a big part of it."
Not that Mello ever asked, himself, unless it was absolutely necessary. He'd always been sexually active; everything from his body language to the way he dressed screamed it, but his mind had always been more in control than his sexual desires.
Kadaj drew back a bit, slightly bothered by the look that Mello was giving him. It was a short-lived thing though, because nothing could be more violent than what had just happened, right? He looked at the other man, face much more relaxed now. He hadn't quite realized that this was something that was truly comparable to sex but...it was interesting to consider.
"I...didn't realize. I'll remember that... um..." Kadaj flushed a million shades of crimson, feeling a little light-headed. He never had been good at controlling himself. It was something that had been learned.
"Don't be paranoid," Mello replied, swinging his legs over the side of the bed so he was on the edge again. "Fuck, I'm no virgin. But not everyone's here so willing to give and take pleasure like that."
He licked his lips subconsciously. The same way sex was exhausting, this kind of thing was equally taxing. They both took the nutrients from the other's bloodstream, but now they both needed to feed again. Brilliant, and Mello'd need to wait until midday tomorrow.
Kadaj wasn't sure what he was feeling as Mello disentangled himself and moved to sit on the edge of the bed. There was an odd ache, accompanied by a deeply satiated feeling that made him want to cling to another warm body. At the very least, The remnant felt like he'd learned something about this sort of thing. It was almost too much to process, especially when his brain was this muddled.
"I...I knew that actually." Kadaj blushed, not wanting to say that he had chosen Mello without quite realizing what he was doing. The silver haired teenager ran his hands back through his hair and watched the scarred man. Something had happened, something that he had no name for...but maybe it didn't need one. Maybe this was part of what Bado had told him about, being able to come together and then walk away with a piece of the other person...It was probably less literal in meaning the way Bado had said it.
Kadaj shifted onto his knees, wondering what he should say or do...the hunger was starting to tug at him again...and after this, there was no way he could go back to Lord Sesshomaru, not like this...
"Kadaj, in regards to a few moments ago. You began to say something about me being "the only one to" do something. Care to finish?"
Mello's voice was a forced calm, moreso than it had been just minutes ago. He's always taken Kadaj's words and actions with a grain of salt, and he wasn't entirely sure why. To see someone more uncontrolled and confused than Mello himself was a welcome feeling, so maybe Mello simply felt a selfish desire to keep Kadaj close for the sole purpose of improving his self-image.
Then again, maybe not.
"I um..." There was so much heat in his cheeks that he thought he was going to catch aflame. "I just felt like I couldn't ask anyone else... you're the only one who wouldn't judge me." He felt satisfied with that answer. It was true. He couldn't pull his eyes away from the back of Mello's head, wishing that...wishing...what?
He didn't know. The remnant bit his lip, the bad habit never went far. He sighed at the feeling of his flesh being cut again but ignored it. This was really a strange situation. He didn't know what he wanted or thought. Mello confused him deeply, more so than anyone else ever had.
"Kadaj, like I said last time, stop biting your lip. I'm hungry again and now I'm well aware that your blood is worth drinking."
Not for the value, but the flavor. Mello hoped that the desire to lick it off came from his vampiric instincts alone. The thought of drinking blood still disgusted him a bit.
"And don't worry about judgement. It's never my job to deal judgement on anyone. If the answer had been no, trust me...you'd've known about it."
"Of course. I'd never do anything against your will." Kadaj said quietly, finally relaxing. This situation... it might have been a bad thing that he was an impulsive person. But if he wasn't, he never would have learned what he had so far. And at this point, Mello was very much worth the worry and the time consumed. It was all a lot to comprehend but... it was more than worth it to have the experience that he had just had.
"Mello... I feel like I should thank you, but I don't know...what does one say in this position?" He laughed lightly, embarrassed at the blood that had collected on his lip. It really was a bad habit.
"In my world? After something like this, the phrase "I'll call you" seems to be a popular phrase." Mello's lips twitched. "You don't need to thank me. I didn't do anything you didn't do right back."
Mello stood, glancing at the door before meeting Kadaj's eyes.
"At any rate, I should leave. The blood's really fucking tempting me, even if you don't smell like prey."
"Yeah...um. See you later than." It was awkward, but not entirely unpleasant. Kadaj smiled at the blonde as he stood, thin, lithe body stretching. If nothing else, even the Mako in his bloodstream couldn't match his vampiric ability to notice everything around him. It made him grin, and he couldn't deny that he wouldn't have minded Mello biting him again, even if it did make the already gnawing in his stomach worse.
It could have been worse. This was a new feeling though, and one that he liked rather a lot.
Maybe not so much later. Try to find some prey soon."
Mello moved towards the door and opened it, hesitating in the passageway as always. A moment passed, and he turned to Kadaj again.
"Don't think I'll be showing you what the actual pleasure of sex is any time soon."
He left before Kadaj could respond, and when the door was closed behind him, he stifled his smirk with a still-bare hand before moving towards Suite 13.
As the door to his room swung shut, Kadaj's face lit up crimson. What was that supposed to mean? It wasn't like he had asked for...that. Their was something playful in the words he had thrown at him, but the remnant wasn't able to draw out what it really was. He hugged himself, and as he shifted dislodged Mello's glove from the blankets next to him where it had fallen.
He picked it up and turned it over in his hands, looking at the object as though it too could tell him something. Upon realizing that it couldn't, he reached over and dropped it on the edge of his desk. It was unfair- so unfair the way Mello teased him.
