Summary: Haru has moved on and so has Elie, but he still loves her and she always runs back to him in the bad times. What’s a guy to do? Haru/Elie, hints of Sieg/Elie, songfic.
Honey why you calling me so late?
It's kinda hard to talk right now.
Honey why are you crying? Is everything okay?
I gotta whisper 'cause I can't be too loud
Haru sighed softly, listening to his crying ex-girlfriend, Elie, babbling about something dealing with her new boyfriend. While he really didn’t care to hear about it, at the same time, she was still one of his closest friends and he still really loved her. He hated hearing her cry so much, but there wasn’t much he could do about it at the moment.
“Elie, listening, it’s hard to talk right now... can I meet you at the usual place and we’ll talk then? I’m at this stupid party Musica dragged me to,” he said, though he was partially lying. He had willingly gone to the party, only it was with some girl Musica had introduced to him just a few weeks ago. They got along well so they started dating.
“Oh, okay -hiccup- I-I’ll meet you there,” she sniffled a bit. “When?”
“Meet me there in half an hour, kay?” he said quietly. “I’ll buy the coffee.”
He heard her giggle a bit. “Okay, Haru... and thank you... for everything,” Elie said softly before hanging up.
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! You have Belnika now. You shouldn’t be do this. He could almost hear what his sister would say if she knew. After all, it was Elie that had ended the relationship to be with Sieg. But he couldn’t just leave her miserable like this. So he headed back out to the party.
“Hey, Bel, I have to go... there was sort of an emergency at home, Catt really didn’t say what happened, but I have to hurry,” he lied. He hated lying, but he knew Belnika wouldn’t like the idea of him comforting his ex, and he knew Elie would hate Belnika just in general. Even though they weren’t together, she still got jealous over him.
“Okay,” Bel said, touching his cheek affectionately. “I hope everything’s alright. Last time it was a false alarm about the baby, wasn’t it?”
Haru chuckled. “Yeah... I’m hoping it’s not another false alarm just because she doesn’t want me going out and partying,” he said smiling and heading out, saying his goodbyes as he left. That time had actually been Catt freaking out because she though she was going into labor, but it wasn’t the first time that he had used Catt as an excuse to get out of being with his friends or with Bel.
He headed to the cafe he and Elie had met at for the first time. It had been sort of their sacred hangout while they were together, and now it was their secret meeting place when she needed his comfort.
Well, my girl's in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on
Elie sat across from him, her eyes red and puffy and her cheek and chin partially bruised from the fight she had with Sieg. Haru watched her with concern as she just sat there and stirred her tea aimlessly. She had just finished telling him what the argument was about all over again, and now she seemed so put out. Her leg rubbed against him, something she had always done for comfort when she was upset about anything.
“Elie... I’m sorry... but... don’t you think it’s time to just leave him? I mean, this is your what- fifth? sixth? argument in the past two months?” he asked, actually really concerned that one day it was going to turn from an argument and throwing a slap or two to something much, much worse. And it wasn’t just because he wanted her back. It was because he knew Elie had a temper and a way of getting on people’s nerves to drive them over the edge. Haru was the only one that seemed to really not be affected by that though.
She looked at him. “But I know he loves me... It’s only been six months, I can’t just give up so quickly!” she said, sounding desperate to convince herself as well as Haru. Haru sighed, resting his chin in his hands.
They stared at each other for a few minutes, thinking about other times they had been there before, whether as a couple or as one of their little meetings. Elie finally sighed. “I know I should, but I love him too much, I can’t just leave him just because we’re going though a rough patch.”
It's really good to hear your voice saying my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak
And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel
She could say that as much as she wanted, but it would never explain how once again she ended up in bed with Haru or why she was letting him kiss every inch of her body like they were still dating. All he knew was that being with her felt so different than being with any other girl.
“Oh Haru!!” Elie cried in pleasure as he entered her and started thrusting into her. Normally there would have been more foreplay, but he had been desperate to be inside her, and she didn’t seem to mind. This wasn’t the first time after all... and Haru knew, no matter how wrong it was, it wouldn’t be the last.
It's funny that you're calling me tonight
And, yes, I've dreamt of you too
And does he know you're talking to me
Will it start a fight
No I don't think she has a clue
Haru wondered why he let this happen. It was so wrong on so many levels. He had a new girl, she had a new man. They had been done and over for months. But every time this happened, he brought her home, they had sex until they were both exhausted and then slept until the next afternoon and then she’d just head back home to Sieg.
Elie snuggled closer to his side, kissing his chest and wrapping an arm around him. “Hmm... that was amazing, Haru...” she murmured sleepily, her hair a total mess.
“Elie...”
“Yeah, Haru?”
“We can’t do this again... You know that right?”
“Yeah... I know...”
They said this every time. But Haru knew it was pointless. The moment she called him crying, he’d go running and they would be in the same position again...

Haru watched as she put her clothes on, still lying in bed. He wasn’t going to get up and see her off. It would just make it harder to resist pulling her back into the apartment. So he laid there, blankets wrapped around his waist, eyes taken in every beautiful curve, the tattoo she had on her left hip, everything about the girl he had fallen in love with three years before. “Stay?” he said the one word he said every other time. He already knew the answer.
“Haru, you know I can’t...” she replied as she put her bra on and pulled her shirt over her head. “It just... we’re not meant to be.”
She grabbed her purse, stopping at the door and glancing back at him before shaking her head and leaving. Haru watched and shook his head as well. “Not meant to be? Yeah right... she’ll be back...” he murmured.
And I never wanna say goodbye

She always came back.
