Prince of Tennis

 

Pairing:- Kikumaru Eiji x Echizen Ryoma 

Summary:- Echizen walks into the clubroom after hours to find an Upset Senpai, Can he cheer up his Senpai and bring a smile back to his face.

Warnings:- Mild Shota and mild out of character… Hand job, no smut this chapter. 

 

 

"Ok practice is over...First years collect the balls and put away the nets." Tezuka called out, Everyone left the courts a few changing before leaving some just grabbing there bags before running out of school grounds the freshman cleaning up.

"Buchou can I please go practice on the solo court and wall... I don't need a net and I'll clean up after myself." Echizen asked standing in front of his captain.

  Tezuka gave Echizen a hard look before giving slight nod "Fine but lock the club room door when you leave." turning and walking off Echizen grabbed a smaller basket of balls and making his way to the smaller practice court. 

Kikumaru Eiji changed slowly as he watched those around him, chatting happily as they changed to go home.

Fuji paused in front of Kikumaru and waited till he looked up "Are you coming?"

"No Fujiko I have something that I still need to do... Can you walk home alone tonight." Kikumaru replied smiling up at his best friend.

Fuji easily returned the smile and as Kikumaru looked down he opened his deep blue eyes looking from Kikumaru to Oishi then closing his eyes again "Of course I don't mind walking home alone... If you're sure about this." 

Kikumaru nodded "Thanks Fujiko, See you tomorrows practice." 

"See you Monday tomorrow's practice going to be cancelled due to the rain." Fuji said smiling and walking out the club house waving behind his shoulder, Kikumaru shook his head and went back to dressing. Kikumaru sat down and watched silently as the last of the regular’s made there way out. “Oishi can I talk to you a moment.”

“Sure Eiji what’s up?”

Kikumaru looked around making sure they were alone before looking to the floor remaining quiet. 

“So what’s up Eiji your not normally this serious after practice.” Oishi asked a hand on Kikumaru’s shoulder who was still staring at the floor.

“I wanted to ask you out.” Kikumaru said in a quiet voice not looking up . 

“Well I have to be home early but I can treat you to some food before I go home with save me cooking.” Oishi replied easily smiling 

“Nya Oishi not like that.” Kikumaru sighed and tried again “We have been doubles partners now for 2 years and we know each other really well don’t we” Receiving a nod from Oishi he continued. “I wanted to ask you on a Date Oishi not to go for fast food…I been thinking of this for a while and I know your openly Bi-sexual or I wouldn’t of asked so will you ?” 

Oishi sighed a small frown on his face “I didn’t know you felt this way Eiji…”

“Well now you do.” Kikumaru interrupted.

“I’m sorry Eiji I can’t…” Oishi paused seeing the pained looked on Kikumaru’s face before  it was replaced with a tight smile. “I really am sorry Eiji but I’m already dating someone, He’s from a different school so no-one really knows about us…We’ve been together just over 6 months.”

Kikumaru suddenly laughed and jumped up to stop himself from crying in front of Oishi… “Nya it’s ok Oishi was just an idea that’s all… and we’re still the Golden Pair right?

“Of course we are Eiji… We’ll be the number one doubles pair in Japan.” Oishi replied standing up beside Kikumaru and pulled the slightly smaller boy to his chest in a hug “Thanks for understanding Eiji.. You’re the first to know about me dating, Shall we go for that burger now.” he offered.

 Kikumaru shook his head “I’m not really hungry yet but if you don’t want to be late you should go” Smiling he held up his fingers in V shape.

Oishi nodded and smiled running out the club room, Once he was sure Oishi would not return the smile on his face dropped as the first tear started running down his cheeks… “Stupid Oishi… Stupid me” breaking off he dropped to the bench letting the tears fall freely.

 

Echizen picked up the last of the balls he had used and checked the court was clean as the sun began setting on the horizon, Making his way to the clubroom. ‘Lights are off I hope Tezuka remembered to leave the door open for me.’ he thought to himself.

Entering the dark clubroom he placed the basket down by the wall and froze as he heard a whimper and sniff from the clubroom…Slowly moving he turned the light on and looked around and blinked as he saw Kikumaru jump suddenly and wipe his face “Ahh Ochibi you scared me, I thought everyone had left already.” he looked up a smile on his face.

 “Are you ok Kikumaru-Senpai?” Echizen asked placing his tennis bag on the floor watching the older boy carefully.

“Of course Ochibi why wouldn’t I be… Oh you mean the jumping, I scare easily.” he replied easily laughing quietly.

“Because you were sitting in the dark clubroom alone and crying, and now you have the smile you only use when your hurt but don’t want anyone to worry about you.” Echizen replied moving slowly closer to his Senpai.

“I don’t use fake…” Kikumaru started before Echizen interrupted

“Yes you do, I should know I watch you a lot Senpai and as far as I know nothing verbal was said to hurt you during practice and you didn’t fall so can’t be physical pain so must of happened after in here.” Pausing in front of Kikumaru now and stroked his cheek as he continued “And whoever hurt a gentle and kind Senpai like your yourself is an Idiot… a stupid one at that.”

Kikumaru nuzzled the hand needing the comfort from the small action from the normally distant cold rookie “No he isn’t … he…just.” Pausing and taking deep breath “He just doesn’t feel the same as I do.” He paused in shock as Echizen pulled him suddenly into a hug, He buried his head in Echizen’s chest as the tears started falling again “I thought he cared about me to but… He’s already dating someone, 6 Months he been seeing them and couldn’t tell me.. Ochibi I’m meant to be his partner aren’t I shouldn’t I of known”

  Echizen stroked Kikumaru’s hair “Oishi-Senpai does care as Your friend and tennis partner still and yes he should of told you sooner… But there are others that care about you, That could possibly love you but you don’t even look at them or see them.” he replied still stroking his hair.

“Like who Ochibi I’m just a hyperactive idiot.” he said sniffing and pulling away suddenly “You’re sweaty.”

 “Sorry… I haven’t washed I continued practice after everyone left, I was about to but you were upset and needed me more, I didn’t think before hugging you… sorry” Echizen said blushing slightly as pulls away.

“You need to shower before gets cool or you’ll get sick.” Kikumaru said standing suddenly and tugging Echizen’s shirt off 

“Senpai… I can manage” Blushing slightly he grabbed his towel and headed for the shower room entering a stall started the shower “And Fuji-Senpai likes you I’ve seen him watching you and not just during tennis.” Washing slowly his back to Kikumaru.

Kikumaru stood by the door of the shower room to continue his talk with the rookie. “Fujiko is sleeping with someone else, I’d only be there for fun only… in his words” Imitates Fuji’s voice “Eiji-Kun if you want some fun I can be there for you anytime ok.” shaking his head he continued back with his own voice. “I want someone to love not just sex, I want my first time to be special.”

Echizen washed his hair as he listened and rinsed before replying “What about Kaido-Senpai he finds you attractive and he the kind of guy not to cheat.”

Kikumaru thought for a moment shocked by the revelation before answering “Yes he is the kind to be faithful and honest, And he is handsome in his own way but our personalities would clash to much… I like hugging people and public affection and Kaido-Kun is very shy and would only do things like that in private.”

Echizen finished and turned the shower off wrapping a towel round his waist, “So that would probably rule out one from Fudomine then.” Drying off and dressing slowly.

Kikumaru gasped “Some one from Fudomine like me.”

“Yes… He little weird but he a good guy inside most people over look him for many reasons.”

“Who else…” Kikumaru asked in a quiet voice curious now.

“Well there only few others but from other schools and not good enough for you, there are few more admirers from our school and then there’s Me… But you only see me as Ochibi and I can’t change that but I will find someone for you and then you can be happy again and smile.”

“Ochibi you…” Kikumaru started 

“As much as it hurts thinking of someone else been able to hold you and kiss you it’s hurts me more knowing that you were crying here alone and hurt… you deserve to be loved Kikumaru-Senpai, Please let me help.” Echizen said almost pleading before smiling “let’s go for burgers I’m hungry and can’t think on empty stomach and we can talk over the others from Seigaku and maybe you’ll like them more then Oishi-Senpai.” Standing up walking towards door his back to Kikumaru.

 

Kikumaru suddenly hugged Echizen from behind in  a firm hug. “Ne Ochibi why do you like me?” he questioned before suddenly been pulled out the clubroom as Echizen locked the door behind him shouldering his bag.

“Lots of reasons Senpai… I only have enough money for 2 burgers each and a soda.” he finished.

  “I don’t mind paying Ochibi I have plenty of money just don’t tell Momo-Chan as you both would clear my wallet again.” he laughed slightly and lead Echizen to the favourite burger bar and prodded on “So what reasons Ochibi I really want to know.”

Echizen rolled his eyes and sighed heavily “Sorry we cleared your wallet so often Senpai and order my usual not talking till I eat I’ll be in the corner booth as more private” He walked off grabbing Kikumaru’s bag placing them by the windows and sitting down.

  Kikumaru ordered and sighed looking in his wallet ‘Ahh well not like can spend it on Oishi anyway.’ he thought before carrying the food and drinks to the table, He watched Echizen wolf down 2 of the cheese burgers and half the fries finally sipping his drink before looking up to him. “I liked you from first time I saw you… I saw you behind the fence smiling I thought you were cute and then after I won the match you hugged me, More jumped on me and I liked you even more afterwards.” he paused opening another burger.

Kikumaru gasped and pouted “But you always complained when I hugged you or anyone for that matter touched you or was overly friendly.”

Echizen finished his burger and sipped drink again thinking carefully… “Things I say and do are often a way to protect myself, I’ve been moved from place to place and school to school when I was in America, I couldn’t make friends easily because of way I acted and when I did make them it hurt when I had to move away again… When I came to Japan I was told I could finally settle down and make my own choices.” Pausing to think pulling a face “I love my family even my dad when all he does is annoy me but I’m not used to been hugged that much and while it did annoy me at first it also felt good… Sometimes Senpai words and talking can’t help but a hug is needed, I remember one day I was feeling down and I went to the roof to think and you came up and found me and without saying anything you hugged me and just held me then after few minutes you invited me to lunch and that made me really happy because I didn’t need to ask for it you were there to give it freely.” he looked down to the table eating few fries.

“So I was right that day.” Kikumaru said happily and laughed at Echizen’s puzzled face. “ I thought you weren’t yourself that day at morning practice I tried asking Horio and the others but they said that you acted the same as normal even Momo said so but I didn’t think that so after classes I came to look for you.” he said smiling slightly.

Echizen smiled “That’s another reason why I like you Senpai… You can read people by watching them, When there feeling down or angry or happy… You can read them easily if you watch them long enough just like with you, I can tell that joke around more when there’s tension around you or when Momo-Chan and Kaido-Senpai are about to fight and it breaks tension and often they’re smiling enough to forget there argument. And also you’re not a hyperactive idiot in fact your very smart but you get distracted easily which is why your homework’s seems rushed or sloppy…Also you practice so hard when no one is around that you have cuts and bruises that you hide so no one can see and worry bout them especially Oishi-Senpai and Tezuka-Buchou… And you can get hurt easily but you cover it by joking about it and putting on fake smile like the kind Fuji-Senpai wears all the time, no one notices or realizes except maybe Fuji-Senpai  but he notices a lot of things.”

Kikumaru smiled at that and watched as Echizen pinched some of his fries before drinking his soda “Anything else…” curious look on his face.

“Well your kind to everyone and willing to give anyone a chance, Your also willing to help them even if they don’t acknowledge the help, And you like those around you to be happy and smile and your sensitive to emotions so if someone is upset or down your get down as well… You always bring out the best in people and you work harder then most on the team realizes cause you been training in private to boost your stamina… Your not only cute but your handsome and sexy and while your affectionate you know when someone needs space and your willing to give it to them, You have a great body while your smaller in height then most people your age you have more muscles that are hidden by you clothes and your shy and often use jokes and your hyperactive nature to hide that from others.” Echizen said sipping his drink again looking down to hide light blush that covered his cheeks, continuing in a quieter voice. “And that’s why you deserve to find someone who loves you for who you are and not try to change you or will hurt you, Someone who not only cares enough to listen but someone who will support you when you feel weak and need a hug instead of giving them all the time… And I can help you find them because it’s all I can do as your friend Kikumaru-Senpai.” Echizen not looking up from the table.

Kikumaru never stopped looking at Echizen as he spoke…He was silent lost in thought ‘He’s right I didn’t see what was in front of me, because I was to lost thinking of Oishi.’ he suddenly spoke up. “ Your not a friend Echizen.”

Echizen’s head shot up a look of hurt covered his face before been masked not leaving his eyes, Standing up picking up his bag “Sorry Senpai I’ll go…” turning to walk away he froze as he was wrapped in a hug from behind.

“Let me finish Ochibi…” Echizen didn’t reply but relaxed into his hold “You’re not a friend because I’ve just realized your right I don’t see the things in front of me. Your so much more than a friend Ochibi…No one except Fujiko has seen the things you have just told me, not Oishi who is my Doubles partner… And what’s more you were willing to let yourself be hurt to make me happy but like you said Ochibi, If you were hurt I would be to… So maybe I can watch you some more to..” smiling he loosened the hug.

Echizen turned in Kikumaru’s hold facing him he looked up “You mean watch me as in with me.”

Nodding “I can’t say it’s love as can’t lie but you are very cute Echizen Ryoma and I love hanging out with you, I fantasized about you once but I didn’t think you’d be into guys. So if you’d have me I’m sure I could fall in love.” Kikumaru smiled but his eyes showed worry at been rejected twice in one day.

Echizen suddenly shocked Kikumaru again by squeezing him tightly burying his head in the strong chest. “Of course I would have you Senpai… That would make me really happy but no more fake smiles or tears ok Kikumaru-Senpai as I don’t like them.”

“Eiji….” Kikumaru said smiling hugging him back.

“Eiji-Senpai…” Echizen replied easily 

“Eiji…Ochibi Senpai isn’t needed.” he said trying again

“Eiji-Senpai let me call you it just like you call me Ochibi please and we should….” Echizen was cut off by his phone ringing… pulling away answering it “What do you want old man…No I’m with Kikumaru-Senpai from the tennis club” pulling a face as listens to his dad “You and mum are going away, I’m fine alone old man used to it….Yeah I’ll come home make sure Karupin in house when you leave.” Hanging up and pocketing his phone “ Sorry Senpai I was going to suggest game of tennis but I have to go home.”

Kikumaru looked worried “You’re going to be alone this weekend.”

“Most week actually my parents are going away and my cousin is at her boyfriends till Monday or Tuesday… would you like to come over.” mistaking the shocked look on Kikumaru’s face he rushed on “Of course not you have to go home… Sorry I asked.”

Kikumaru pulled him into a hug “I wouldn’t leave you home alone… I’ll ring my parents and I can sleep over we’ll have fun Ochibi..” grinning he grabbed his bag “Lead the way.”

Echizen smiled slowly and nodded leading Kikumaru back to his listening to him on the phone with his mum.

“Hoi Hoi mum can I sleep at Echizen’s… But mum his parents are going away he’ll be all alone, Sure we can come for dinner tomorrow and I’ll pick up some clothes….Nya I’m always good…Thanks mum.” Hanging up “I’m allowed if I bring you home for dinner tomorrow.”

“But Eiji-Senpai we have practice.”

“Oh Fujiko said it will be rained out so we have free day” Kikumaru replied easily.

 

After a short walk the pair of them arrived at Echizen’s, Letting them in and flicking the light on before bending to remove his shoes. “I don’t have guests much..” Echizen mumbled quietly 

Karupin heard the door opening and jumped just as Echizen bent and missed him landing in a startled Kikumaru’s arm’s causing the older boy to yelp and stumble backwards slightly, Mewing loudly before jumping down and bolting upstairs… “Karupin…” Echizen called after the cat before turning back to Kikumaru who was holding his chest watching after the cat “Eiji-Senpai are you ok?.. Sorry I should’ve warned you about my cat, She friendly” 

Nodding his head and looking to Echizen. “It’s ok Ochibi she just startled me, And I didn’t know you had a cat Ochibi that’s so cute.”

Lowering his head hair masking face slightly he lead them to the kitchen and checked through the cupboards and fridge “Damn he didn’t leave much, least we ate out” Pulling 2 cans of Ponta from the fridge he handing one to his Senpai. “Sorry till go shopping there is not much in.”

“It’s ok Ochibi… Let’s watch a movie I brought one” Dragging Echizen to the living room pushing him on the sofa and routing through his bag.

“But you didn’t know you were coming.” Echizen asked sitting up from where he landed as he saw Kikumaru placing a DVD in the player 

“Oh I was planning on crashing Fujiko’s if it went bad with Oishi but I’m glad I didn’t cause I wouldn’t of found out about you.” Turning out the main light he sat and pulled Echizen next to him. “Sit by me Ochibi.”

Nodding his head sipping his drink and snuggling closer to his Senpai’s side as the movie started… he felt one of Kikumaru’s arms wrap around his back resting on his hip.

 

(Couple hours later after the movie.)

Unable to stop himself Echizen ran a finger lightly over the marked back feeling his Senpai freeze under the touch, Ignoring it he bent forward kissing over the worse of them gently “Do they hurt Senpai… I mean I watch you practice and fall at times and I like that about you your not afraid to get hurt during practice and when you are hurt you try again you don’t stop because of it.”

Relaxing at the words he spat the paste out before rinsing his mouth. “Doesn’t hurt as much if you know how to land…” Pausing as Echizen traced each and every mark and bruise giving each a light kiss turning him to do same on stomach and chest. “lets go bed Eiji-Senpai” Yawning his flicked the bathroom light off walking to his bedroom naked, Following behind Kikumaru climbed into bed beside him curling into what looked to be uncomftable position 

“Senpai are you really ok sleeping like that.”

“of course Ochibi…” Yawning himself  “Hoi Ochibi what were those fantasies your mentioned having with me and others.” laying a hand over Echizen’s chest closing his eyes listening for a reply.

Turning the light off and turning slightly getting closer to the red haired acrobat “Goodnight Eiji-Senpai we can discuss them later.” getting a small murmur in return he smiled and felt the bed dip and familiar weight of Karupin settle on his legs before following Kikumaru into sleep.
