A wail that shatters ears,

Within the darkness calling.

To safety plunge in tight confine,

Coventry is falling.

Breathless fear, wide eyes seek.

Skies a blaze with hatred spurned.

Metal giant’s footsteps run across his lands,

Tearing all that he has yearned.

“So we blind them, let a city nor a home be possible to see.”

Blackness claws at his wits, lets fear run through his heart untamed.

London beats a sluggish beat, trapped within his tightened chest.

How many more will fall before bitter hatred is restrained?

Smoke fills lungs, knees are weak.

Let’s whisper secrets that we seek.

“Goodbye my friends, and so to sleep.”

But spangled stars will not relent.

Banners high as aid is sent.

Sweet England.

Light shall come.

What bloodied hands might tear asunder.

Love shall then rebuild.
