Chapter 1 - Starting off.
I slept lightly on the grass as a few clouds drifted by slowly. A nearby tree provided a little shade in the cool spring morning. My sleep was interrupted as someone walked toward me calling my name.
"Marius..."
As I woke up and looked over to the young woman heading this way. Silvia was a beautiful looking young woman, she wore a dark blue, almost purple, dress that reminded Marius of a closed set of flower petals as it belled around her hips, an blue top molded to her form and her well developed chest. A green cap topped her head as blonde locks wrapped around her face, framing her always cheerful smile. She always reminded me a a beautiful flower.
Wiping my hands on my denim blue jeans after standing up, I waved to her. Straitening my blue shirt and grey jacket, I walked the last of the distance to her fixing my short auburn hair and removing any strands of grass.
"What's up Silvia?" I asked, gazing into her bright and cheerful purple eyes.
"Professor Juniper wanted to see all of us."
"All of us? So, you, me, Gwergenau and Thalia..."
I cast my auburn eyes on the town Silvia came from, Nuvema Town.
....
Four young adults and one mature woman stood inside a large house/laboratory. The place belonged to the older woman infront of us. Professor Juniper was one of the best Pokemon Experts in the Unova Region. She was a very good looking woman, her outfit consisted of a green mini-skirt, a tight white shirt with a very very light blue lab coat. Light brown hair parted to the right and a large bun of brown hair also parted to the right. Green eyes and a smile looked at those gathered here.
Thalia was much like Silvia, both girls were beautiful and pretty in there own ways. While Silvia was reminded you of a perfect flower resting in the forest surrounded by a pool of light; Thalia made anyone want to craft a statue, paint a picture or write a poem or ballad about her. Thalia just inspired her beauty toward others like a muse. A long flowing dress made of blue and green colors that faded back and forth between the two colors seamlessly, reached from her neck to halfway down her calfs, the dress wasn't tight but accented all her curves without restricting her movement. Long silky soft blue hair cascaded down her back stopping as they past her hips. Besides her hair, her most notable feature was her bust; many men, and some women, couldn't help but admire her massive chest.
Lastly was Gwergenau, or Gen as most of us called him for short. He was tall, taller than most of us by atleast a full twelve inches. Thick muscles lined his body, he was well built but not bulging with muscles; if anything I would say he was built more like a martial artist. It helped that he dressed slightly like one with black khaki pants covered his legs, a white tank-top and an open red silk shirt, with a sinuous looking Gyarados covering the front and back. Short black hair pulled back into a thin ponytail covered his head.
The four of us looked at Prof. Juniper waiting for her to speak.
"As all of you know, it is now the spring season, a time of new thing to come, a time for new Trainers to go forth. When a person turns 18 they can become a Trainer." Her voice filled with joy as she spoke. "I called all of you her so you can get your first Pokemon and begin your journey. I'll let you all choose who can take what pokemon, though I only have three. One of you won't be getting a pokemon and have to try and catch one in the wild."
We began looking at each other to try and figure who would be left out of this. That is until I spoke up.
"You guys go ahead and pick. I'll take my chances in the wild."
The other three looked at me with appreciation and understanding. Professor Juniper nodded before approaching with a tray.
On the Tray were three pokeballs. Each one had a different symbol on it, a blue teardrop, a green leaf and a red flame. "Inside are your starters. Oshawott, Snivy and Tepig." the older woman informed as she pointed to each ball.
"Ladies first." Gen offered.
Silvia and Thalia looked at each other before Silvia motioned with her hand to let the other woman go first.
Thalia stepped forward and looked at the tray before picking up the ball with a blue teardrop.
Silvia went next and took the ball with the green leaf.
"And that leaves Gwergenau with Tepig." the professor said, offering the last ball to the man. "Now that that is done, I have one last gift for all of you. Here you all go. Your Pokedex. It will record information on all of the pokemon you come across. Travel to many places and meet as many pokemon as you can."
Each received a small device that looked like a cell phone. The device fit onto the CrossTransceiver that each wore on their wrist.
"I'll meet all of you at the entrance to Route 1 when you're ready." Juniper spoke before heading out.
Silvia gave a look toward me, with slightly pleading eyes.
....
While most people either worked alongside the pocket monsters, or at least tolerated them. Silvia's father,Ralph, had a strong distaste for them. He believed that pokemon should be left in the wild or used only for the most distasteful jobs, like janitors or sewer cleaners. While a Machoke was many times stronger than a human and was helpful in construction, it took away the jobs of hard working humans, he always spoke. Many of the townsfolk were careful not to bring up any subject that could directly lead to talking about pokemon, Gymleaders, or the Pokemon League; so most people in town just didn't talk to him much, or at all.
It helped that Nuvema Town was small and only had a dozen or so houses, no Gym and no Pokemon Center, unfortunately it did have Professor Juniper's Pokemon Research Lab. That was part of the reason why Silvia's father had moved them here, so he could get away from the pocket monsters.
Silvia was not like her father, she didn't share his views about pokemon. She was however jus as stubborn as him. We both knew that if her father found out that she wanted to leave on a pokemon journey he would try almost anything to stop her.
Which is how I found myself boosting the blonde up to her window on the second story of her house. It took a little bit of work, and the help of a trash can, but she finally got up to her window and pulled herself inside. She never locked her window since she sometimes wanted to avoid her father who was almost always on the first floor.
Not a second after she had gotten all the way inside did she make a surprised "Eep!" Fearing the worst, I took a few steps back and gave myself a running start to jump up and haul myself to her window and inside.
It was as I feared, he dad was sitting on her bed waiting for her.
"Care to explain why your sneaking into your room? And why you are hanging out with this trash?" The older man questioned. Ralph was a bit overweight, with a permanent 5 o'clock shadow, faded pants and a somewhat dirty white shirt.
Silvia's father and I never got along. He didn't like how both of my parents were pokemon trainers, something he hated, and so he didn't want me to be around her.
Before either could speak, Ralph saw the pokeball hanging from Silvia's belt. His face had gone from annoyed to utter rage at the sight of the white and red ball. He made a grab for it, but I moved quickly to get in his way.
He glared at me while he spoke. "Where did you get that thing!" his voice dripping with venom as he spoke to his daughter behind me.
"It's MINE!" I spat back at him, trying to defuse the situation somewhat. "She only wanted to wear it for a moment. We came back here to talk for a moment or two..."
"I was going to give him a goodbye gift..." Silvia tried to speak weakly, though lucky for her that her father didn't hear.
"HA! Girl, get rid of that thing!" He told his daughter before setting his gaze on me. "So the abandoned son of two failure trainers is gona play with monsters and become a wash out like his parents!"
Both Silvia and I knew that there would be trouble trying to get her father to let her leave on a journey, but we could tell that there was no way he would let her go. Plus he was really pushing my buttons and I went for the fastest way to deal with him.
I hit him.
Well to be fair, I sucker punched him. Hard.
"Forget all the extra stuff. Just grab a change of cloths or two and let's go!" I told the blonde woman. Thinking quickly, I grabbed some of the bedding and used it to tie up Ralph. It would delay him for a little, and hopefully by then, Silvia would be on her journey and no longer bound by his rules.
....
On the way to meet Professor Juniper, I stopped in at my 'uncles' house and gave him a very brief rundown of what was happening. For his own safety I did inform him about knocking the daylights out of Ralph, which made him smile, so he would be prepared.
As Ralph had said before, both my parents are trainers. Shortly after I was born my mother left me with her brother, and I stayed with him for a few years in Castelia. At the age of six, a few things happened and I was sent to live here in Nuvena. I only meet my parents about five times in total, and neither one was with the other.
I went to my room, grabbed my savings and a few changes of cloths, a single person sized sleeping bag and two small travel size books and threw them all into a backpack.
Running fast we made it to the edge of Route 1 and Nuvema Town. Standing there waiting for us was Professor Juniper.
"Were are Thalia and Gen?" I asked the woman.
"They already headed off. I showed them how to catch a pokemon, and then they began their own adventures. Now I have a question for both of you. Why are you so winded?" the pokemon researched began to scrutinize us as we looked slightly disheveled.
"W-we... ran into my dad..." The blonde girl replied.
"And..." Juniper asked, trying not to drag it out of the girl but knew Ralph's reputation.
"I knocked him out, tied him up and now we are heading out of town as fast as we can so he won't get his hands of Silvia again!" I proclaimed, not at all ashamed at what I had done.
Juniper let out a deep sigh before looking at the two of us. "Ok, Marius. You know how to catch wild pokemon, right?" at my nod she continued. "Ok, teach Silvia on the way to Accumula town. Here is a pokemon I caught while teaching Gwergenau and Thalia. I was gonna give it to you anyway. It is a bit different from the normal ones you find around here but I think you'll do ok. I'll stall your father as best I can, a little impromptu research on the new spring pokemon, should block off some of the area."
"Thanks Professor." We both spoke in relief.
"It is only going to be temporary. Knowing Ralph, he may try and file a report or something. So take care, and be safe."
Juniper gave Silvia a reassuring hug, telling the girl it would be okay. Silvia said something in reply but I couldn't hear it, and it wasn't my place to pry.
A moment later, I took Silvia's hand and the two of us ran through the tall grass and away from Nuvema.
