Disclaimer: I do not own Fairy Tail nor do I make any money out of this I'm sad to say. |
Lying there on the dirt of the arena broken, beaten, Lucy Heartfillia couldn’t hold back the tears welling up in her eyes. Damn Raven Tail. Damn them all. And damn herself for her weakness. Her spell failed. Even her magic abandoned her. The laughter of the crowd stung. Was she really still that weak? She had failed everyone. Even Natsu. If it hadn’t been for him she never even would have stood a chance. And she still she’d screwed it up somehow.
A shadow stood over her. Looking through bleary eyes she saw the scarf flapping in the wind.
‘Natsu…’ she said through choked back crying.
‘It’s alright Lucy,’ said Natsu. He was radiating that famous confidence again. Those eyes hard as dragon scale. That inner fire demanding to be set free. Yet he kept it under control. He was concerned. She could see it. Concerned for her. Even after all they’d been through together it still surprised her sometimes how much her friends cared about her.
‘It’s not alright Natsu. I lost. I feel so ashamed,’ she cried. She averted her eyes in shame.
Natsu glared at Flare Corona. ‘There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Being defeated by foul play is quite disgusting.’
Flare smiled that crazy smile at him. ‘Blondie got what was coming to her.’
Natsu bared his teeth, giving her a draconic smile: ‘I’ll make sure you get what you deserve. All of Raven Tail will get what you guys deserve.’
‘Threats from the lowest guild.’ She laughed at him. ‘How funny.’
Natsu growled, fists flaring in flame. A hand grabbed his wrist. His eyes snapped to Lucy.
‘Let it go Natsu. The match is over. Fighting now would cost us even more points.’
She still wouldn’t look at him. He hesitated for a moment. With downcast eyes his flames died out. Through clenched teeth Natsu ground out: ‘You’re lucky redhead. I would snuff out those flames right now.’
Flare turned around with crazy laughter: ‘You will suffer more Fairy Tail. Especially blondie.’
Lucy could feel Natsu tense. She tugged on his wrist. He looked down at her and relaxed. Somewhat.
He took a deep breath and let it out explosively through his nose, angry smoke coming out. ‘Let’s go Lucy. You need to get those wounds treated.’
He grabbed her wrist in turn to pull her to her feet. She tried to get up but flinched in pain. Her other wrist was hurt. Her legs felt like they were on fire. All the other bruises were throbbing painfully.
Natsu’s anger faded in his concern for his friend. ‘Can you get up?’
She felt even more ashamed now. ‘I don’t think so.’
He let go of her wrist and in surprise of that she released his. She looked up at him now to see him kneel. Without comment he scooped her up in his arms with surprising gentleness.
Startled with hands held over her heart she said: ‘Natsu, what…’
He grinned at her in his easygoing way. ‘If you can’t walk I’ll just have to carry you right? That’s what friends are for.’
‘T…thanks,’ she stammered with a blush on her face she hoped he wouldn’t notice.
Despite the crowd still yelling obscenities and mocking Fairy Tail she couldn’t help but feel safe and perhaps a bit happy being held against Natsu’s warm body. Let them yell. As long as she was with her friends, with Fairy Tail, they would come out on top. They always did. As long as she was with…
The fatigue of using so much magic finally overtook her. Her energy left her. She didn’t know if she fell asleep or fainted but she knew she was safe.
As her head lolled to the side, coming to rest against his shoulder Natsu looked down at Lucy’s peaceful face and he smiled a soft caring smile. A look at Raven Tail had his fire burning and his blood boil. But he suppressed his anger. There were more important matters now. Like getting Lucy to Porlyusica.
When she woke, eyes fluttering open, she was in her room of the hotel they were staying at. It had to be night judging by the darkness of the room. The fire was burning casting flickering shadows. She was a bit groggy but otherwise felt fine to her surprise. Her cuts and bruises didn’t hurt. Even her legs felt fine. She rolled on her side, curling up. The defeat still stung. Her eyes opened in surprise.
Arms lying over the armrest, head tilted way too far back, Natsu was sleeping in a chair next to her bed.
‘Natsu!’ she cried surprised, bolting upright. The sheet pooled in her lap.
Natsu’s eyes opened drowsily. His head tilted to look at her. ‘Oh hi Lucy, glad you’re awake. Euhm, you do know you’re not dressed right?’
Looking down startled with a look of complete surprise she saw her uncovered breasts. With a yell she yanked the blanket over herself and twisted around so her back was turned to Natsu. She felt absolutely mortified now. She could feel the heat on her face from blushing. Looking over her shoulder she saw he was now openly staring at her.
‘Don’t look!’ she yelled outraged.
He smiled widely. ‘Can’t really help it can I? Your backside’s uncovered.’
Her face must’ve been beet red now as she wrapped the blanket around her more securely. She’d never felt so embarrassed before!
She could simply hear Natsu’s amusement in his voice: ‘I must say it’s a very nice…’
With a cry she grabbed a cup from the nightstand and threw it at him. ‘Would you please get out while I put something on! I feel embarrassed enough as it is!’
Natsu sobered up. ‘Alright. Sorry Lucy, I didn’t mean to…I’ll let you rest for now.’
She regretted her outburst somewhat as she watched him walk to the door. She owed him for his care. She was pretty sure he hadn’t left her side the entire time she’d been out. But he did have the nasty habit of always invading her privacy. And now he’d crossed a line! He’d seen her…
‘Sleep tight Lucy, I’ll see you in the morning,’ he said with his usual smile.
He opened the door to leave.
It wasn’t really his fault this time really… He had been watching over her after all. If she’d paid some attention…
‘Natsu…’ she called just before the door closed after him. The door halted just before clicking shut. ‘Natsu, could you wait outside just a moment until I’m dressed. I…I could use some company. I don’t feel like being alone.’
There was silence from the other side. A long pause that made her uneasy.
‘Alright,’ came Natsu’s voice. ‘Just say when you’re done.’ And the door clicked shut.
She smiled softly, sitting up while clutching the blanket this time. He could be sweet sometimes. Despite his rough ways he was a true friend. She couldn’t hope for a better one.
Looking around she spotted her clothes lying neatly folded on a chair on the other side of the room. Her pyjama lay folded on top. She sighed. She did have some great friends.
Wrapping the blanket around her she got out of the bed. The fire was burning merrily, sharing its warmth. Was it really so warm in here or was it just her?
She looked at the closed door, the closed curtains and the warm hearth. With a shrug she dropped the blanket. The warm light of the fire felt good. She giggled. It felt freeing walking around like this. She nearly skipped over to her clothes but then the door opened, inviting in a gust of cold air.
‘Lucy!’ called Natsu happily. ‘Want some food? I’m going down to the kitchen so…’
‘Get out!’ she yelled, diving behind the bed for cover. He was gaping in astonishment. She was outraged. This was the second time in almost as many minutes! Seeing another cup on the nightstand she hurled it at him. He pulled the door shut just in time for the cup to thump into and clatter to the ground.
‘Alright alright,’ he said though the door, his voice fading. ‘More for me then!’
She grumped after him just as her stomach made itself known with a loud growl of hunger. A faint blush crept back on her cheeks. ‘Darn Natsu! How can he always be so carefree?’
Over an hour later she was alone in her chamber lying in her bed and staring at the ceiling. Natsu hadn’t come back yet and she was annoyed. Annoyed at him for abandoning her here. And annoyed at herself for chasing him away. Her stomach growled again and she groaned. She should’ve put on her clothes and gone downstairs to get a bite but instead she’d put on her pyjamas and crawled back under the sheets. She had felt great one moment and not so great the next. She had expected Natsu to return though. With or without food. But no, here she was all alone. The fire had dwindled. The room had grown colder. A lot colder in her opinion. Curling up under the sheets didn’t even stave it off. She should just get up and put more wood on the fire but she couldn’t muster the strength right now. The fight haunted her thoughts. The fact that none of her other friends had visited her stung a little. Were they all that disappointed in her? The shame she felt made her squirm. But hadn’t Natsu said something about foul play? She groaned, hands in her hair. God how she hated this.
There was a knock on the door.
‘Lucy?’ came Natsu’s muffled voice. ‘Can I come in? I brought food.’
Her spirit lifted. ‘You can come in,’ she said happily.
The door banged open with Natsu’s usual over enthusiasm. He marched in with a legged platter balanced on one hand. He’d pushed the door hard enough it rebounded against the wall and slammed back shut behind him. ‘How are you feeling? I hope you’re hungry. I had the chef make enough for two.’
‘I’m starving,’ she nodded.
He placed the platter on the bed with a wide grin. ‘Good! Mind if I join in? Everyone was down in the kitchen munching so there wasn’t enough to go around but the chef kept some to the side just for you.’ He grabbed a chicken leg and bit into it with gusto. ‘They’re all pretty pissed over the fight you know.’
She cringed at that statement. ‘Are they mad?’ Her stomach twisted uncomfortably.
Natsu grunted an affirmative, taking another bite of his meal. ‘Pissed as hell. It’s a surprise the place isn’t in an uproar yet.’
She cringed even more. ‘I feel so pathetic.’
‘Why’s that?’ asked Natsu.
‘Because I failed everyone,’ said Lucy, tears glistening in her eyes.
Natsu shrugged. ‘Gray disappointed us. Losing at hide and seek. If it’d been me I would’ve wiped the floor with them all! You were toyed with. We all felt it. And I heard it.’
‘Still…’ said Lucy, a smile on her face. There was not a shred of anger at her. Not from Natsu at least. His presence calmed her. His steady words eased her worries. They’d been through worse than this. All of them.
Her friends wouldn’t let her drop just because of this. That coldness took her again and she shivered visibly.
‘You cold?’ asked Natsu through a mouthful of chicken but even then she could hear the worry.
She nodded, hugging herself for warmth.
‘Porlyusica said you might have some side effects from the medicine she gave you. It’s too bad Wendy is still out of it. She’d have you fixed up in a minute.’ He went to the fireplace and tossed some logs in along with the clean chicken bone. Natsu stared at the fire, waiting for the new logs to catch fire. When the fire didn’t immediately erupt in a blaze Natsu growled. Inhaling deeply his inner fire roared to life. With a soft roar compared to normal his dragon breath engulfed the wood in flames and a moment later a decent fire was blazing. Heat flooded the room almost immediately, the shadows diminishing from the sudden brightness.
Lucy revelled in the warmth. ‘Thank you Natsu.’
‘No problem,’ he said with a thumbs up.
She smiled happily. Her stomach rumbled again and with an embarrassed giggle she said: ‘Guess I’ll dig in now. Itadakimasu!’
As Lucy attacked her food Natsu fell down in the chair next to the bed. ‘Man what a day. We totally got our asses kicked! Even by our own guild mates. That old man, keeping the b-team from us.’
Lucy merely listened to him, enjoying her meal and his rattling.
When she finished Natsu had gone silent. He’d sunken down in chair snoring softly in that painful looking pose. If she ever slept in a position like that she’d be broken in the morning. But that was Natsu for you. Once fired up he was unstoppable yet no matter how grave the times he could still sleep like all was right as it should be.
It drew a smile to her face. Carefully she put the platter next to the bed as quietly as possible, gently pushing it under the bed. She didn’t want to wake him now. She stretched happily feeling quite full and comfortable. It wasn’t too cold or too hot. She felt her normal self. What a wonderful feeling. In good spirits she wriggled under the sheets, sleep overtaking her in moments.
She shivered awake. She didn’t know what time it was but several hours should have passed since she dozed off. Wrapping the blankets more securely around her didn’t help. Lifting her head she saw the fire still burning merrily if somewhat calmer than before. It should’ve been out already. A couple of hours should’ve burnt through all the wood. Had Natsu been stoking it? She looked over her shoulder. Natsu was still in that some back-breaking position but he wasn’t snoring. He looked…focused.
He spoke, startling her. ‘Are you cold again?’
She dived under the blankets, embarrassed at being caught staring. ‘Yes,’ she stammered. ‘How did you know?’
‘I heard you shivering.’
‘Oh right, I forget sometimes just how sensitive his hearing truly is. He could hear Flare talking from all the way across the arena. He can probably hear my heartbeat.’ That thought made her blush. It was a good thing Natsu was mostly oblivious. While the two of them were strictly friends she had to admit, from time to time, he did make her heart beat faster. Like the time she thought he was going to confess to her when instead he needed Virgo. Idiot Natsu.
He was already back at the hearth, throwing in logs and breathing fire. But even after that the shivers continued. Natsu stood next to the hearth, looking at her concerned.
‘Lucy, you alright? It’s hotter in here than an oven. If I fire this up anymore I’ll be putting the hotel on fire.’
Another fit of shivering hit her. ‘I don’t know. I can’t stop shivering.’
‘Porlyusica’s medicine must be working stronger than she thought,’ said the dragon slayer. He hovered over her. She could simply sense his concern. His warm hand against her forehead surprised her. She couldn’t help nut lean into it. The warmth felt so nice.
‘You are cold,’ said Natsu.
Lucy nodded, feeling the warmth from his hand spread across her forehead. It felt wonderful.
Natsu noticed how she was slowly rubbing her forehead back and forth against his palm.
‘Does it feel good?’ he asked gently.
‘Uhu,’ she murmured. ‘Your hand is so warm.’
One knee on the bend he bent closer. His hand trailed across her face to her cheek. She pushed her cheek against the warmth, letting out a soft moan of joy. She didn’t even notice when her body followed that warmth without question. She flipped on her back, eyes closed. Then a second hand cupped her other cheek and warmth flooded her face. She sighed in contentment.
‘Does it feel that good to touch someone?’ asked Natsu.
‘It does,’ she murmured.
Natsu withdrew his hand, eliciting a whimper from her. ‘Human warmth huh?’
Lucy nodded, half-aware of what he was saying. The warmth on her cheek enthralled her. The shiver going through her as the blanket lifted hardly even registered. Only when that hand too left her did she react with the worst shivering thus far. She rolled on her side, chasing after the warmth. And collided with a wall of warmth. There was an arm under her, one coming over her. They closed around her and pulled her closer to that warmth. Her forehead touched warmth too. She cracked her eyes open and found Natsu’s staring straight into hers. Suddenly she realised what was going on. Her face heated up beyond the heat flowing into her.
‘Natsu!’ she cried outraged. ‘Just what do you think you’re…?’
He squeezed her gently into silence. ‘I’m giving you warmth. You looked like you needed it.’
She averted her eyes down: ‘Well, yes. But isn’t this a bit…awkward.’
His way too wide grin simply emphasised how oblivious he truly was. ‘Of course not! It’s what friends do. Isn’t it?’
She relaxed somewhat. ‘Friends huh?’
‘Of course,’ he said with his trademark exuberance.
A sigh escaped her lips but she did relax and enjoyed the warmth. How good it felt. It was indescribable. She squirmed a little. It felt good but the way they were laying against each other was uncomfortable. Natsu had kind of mashed them together. He relaxed his grip, giving her a bit more space. Her arms had been trapped between them, hands balled into loose fists but now she could move them again. Putting her palm on Natsu’s chest she pushed back a little. Her chest felt so warm. She felt a throb through her palm and with a start she realised she could feel his heartbeat. It was steady and strong. It felt very…reliable.
‘Are you alright now Lucy?’ asked Natsu.
‘Uhu,’ she nodded. ‘I feel a lot better.’
‘Good,’ said Natsu. ‘I was a bit worried because your heartbeat suddenly went way up.’
‘Oh,’ she said somewhat embarrassed that he had noticed. ‘Must be the sudden warmth.’ But just as she said that another shiver ran up her spine.
‘Are you still cold?’ asked Natsu with that intense look of his.
His eyes had drawn her but she couldn’t stand that scrutiny. It made her want to be a bit too honest. ‘It was just an after shiver.’
‘I can hear you shivering,’ he said and she cursed herself for forgetting that. His concern was warming in its own.
He withdrew a little, giving her a quick once over. ‘If you want, I know of a way to warm you up.’
Her heartbeat must’ve hit knew records right then. What exactly was he suggesting? Her mind was going into overdrive.
Hearing no objection Natsu’s face moved closer to hers.
‘Oh my god, is he really…?’ Her face was heating up again. Now she was panicking. He was actually going to… ‘Natsu, wait. Can’t we just spoon…?’
But it was too late. His lips touched hers. She was frozen in shock. He was surprisingly tender. He seemed relaxed in what he was doing he even had his eyes closed. As a more intense warmth flooded her from her heart she too closed her eyes relaxing into the kiss. And then another warmth spread through her from his lips. Or more accurately his breath. It was like he was breathing liquid fire into her. Was this also a kind of dragon’s breath? It was amazing! She could feel the heat spreading all over her. Her body was on fire but it was all but painful. It was wonderful. Was this how Natsu’s inner fire felt? No wonder he got so fired up. She truly could get lost in this feeling. And then it was over. His lips left hers. She still felt warm, her body tingled all over but the flood of heat stopped. Although her heart was still pounding like a drum.
‘Better now?’ he asked.
She nodded, mind in a daze. She was ablaze. She’d died somewhere in the fight and gone to heaven. And she didn’t even mind. Eyes half-lidded she saw only his face. So gentle, and kind. Without thinking her hand went up and touched his cheek, stroking it gently. Had she ever been this happy before?
Natsu was looking weirdly. ‘You okay Lucy? You’re acting kinda funny.’
‘I’m fine,’ she said softly. ‘Great even.’
‘Alright then,’ said Natsu happily. ‘Mission accomplished.’
‘Mission what?’ asked Lucy, her happy bubble beginning to burst.
‘I didn’t know if it was gonna work but Wendy and I were talking about our dragon breaths. She figured I could maybe transfer heat, energy and maybe even magic into another person if I was gentle enough. And wadda you know, it worked.’
He gave her a another thumbs up while she froze. Her bubble had burst alright.
She shot up, leaning on her palms: ‘What? This was just some kind of experiment? A possibly dangerous one?’
Natsu scratched the back of his head, happiness undeterred. ‘Well, sort of.’
She ground her teeth. That idiot. Their first kiss and this was his reason behind it? She was so going to punch him. And then she was going to drown him. Preferably somewhere arctic so he’d be shivering even in the afterlife. Her hands were already balling into fists.
‘Lucy, can I ask you something?’ he asked, suddenly very serious. His eyes held that intense scrutiny again.
‘What?’ she ground out. ‘This better be good. It might be his last question.’
‘I’ve been wondering for a while now,’ said Natsu, sniffing the air. ‘There’s this strange scent around you sometimes. A very strong one. Like right now. I’d like to know what it is.’
He didn’t really wait for a reply. He leant in and sniffed her closely.
She was startled at the sudden closeness and a bit embarrassed he was sniffing her so strongly. It was enough to make her forget to punch him. For now. But what could he smell? She wasn’t dirty, was she? He continued to sniff her. First her neck, over her shoulder. Down her side. He’d crawled under the blanket to continue his way down. Wait! She was kind of hot from the kiss. He’d indulged one of her fantasies. Her mind had gone haywire with possibilities. Could he be smelling her...?
She screamed in her realisation, yanking the blanket around her. She jerked away from him, kneeing him on the forehead. He stumbled from under the sheets clutching his forehead.
‘Calm down Lucy,’ said Natsu, rubbing his forehead. ‘You ticklish or something cause I wasn’t doing anything.’
‘It’s nothing,’ she said a little too quickly and completely awkward. ‘Nothing at all.’
‘Then let me find out. I’m curious now,’ he said and moved in again but she shied away
‘No!’ she exclaimed. ‘It’s weird.’
‘No,’ said Natsu. ‘It’s not a weird smell. It’s more enticing. Hard to withstand. Strong to the instincts.’
The more he said the hotter she could feel her face get. He was talking about her...
She couldn’t stand it. She lunged at him with the blanket to shut him up. The completely surprised him. But things didn’t work out as she planned. Natsu struggled against the sudden assault. She was tangled up in the sheets as he rolled away, pulling her with him. With a surprised yell they tumbled off the bed. As if things couldn’t get worse she landed under him, his face smothered in her cleavage. During their brief struggle the buttons on her pyjama shirt had come loose.
‘Natsu, you pervert! Get off me!’ she yelled, fists pounding his back.
He realised where he was and jerked up. Unfortunately for Lucy one of her buttons snagged on his clothes and he jerked her up with him. The unexpected move had her head butting him on the nose. He flinched back even more, grabbing his nose. ‘What was that for?’ he asked. Lucy tried to hold her balance but fell sideways, dragging him along. He fell on top of her again but got an elbow to the stomach. Completely accidental but that’s not how Natsu took it.
‘Oh is that how it is?’ he asked with a grin. ‘You wanna fight over it? It’s on!’
She wanted to say no, to apologize but it was too late. If there was one thing Fairy Tail was known for it was their fighting amongst each other. She didn’t join in on those but now it looked like she had no choice. Before she could utter a word he’d grabbed her by the sides and tickled her. She burst into laughter, unable to utter a word.
She kicked and screamed and laughed, gasping for breath while Natsu urged her to yield. She couldn’t but she wanted to!
Her struggling kicked one of Natsu’s knees from under him hard enough to knock him over, dragging her along again. No she was on top still laughing her head off. Trying to roll off him didn’t help as she was still dragging him along by the clothes. They rolled and fought around the room until their roughhousing ended on the lush carpet in front of the fireplace. She was lying on him completely spent. She was gasping for breath managing to exhale the words ‘No more.’ in a pledge for mercy.
He was strangely silent. She had to say, her anger was gone. In its place was relieve that he’d stopped tickling her. As she slowly regained her breath she couldn’t help but enjoy the feeling of lying on top of that warm body. On of his arms lay across her back, not exactly holding her there but he didn’t move it either. She could feel the rhythmic breathing of his chest which was kind of soothing. She could hear his heartbeat. Still steady as a rock while her own was just a step away from pounding still. She smiled softly. She couldn’t stay angry at him for long. She never could. He always made her feel safe. He always looked out for her. He’d step in front of any spell for her. She was sure of it. And so would she for him. For everyone in Fairy Tail. But Natsu, well, he was a bit special above the others. It was him that had brought her into Fairy Tail after all. He’d given her a family unlike any other.
He asked an unexpected question in a tone she wasn’t used to from him. Sombreness. ‘Lucy, are you happy?’
That was a strange question coming from him. She giggled. ‘If you mean I’m a blue cat with wings. No I’m not.’
He sounded serious: ‘That’s not what I meant Lucy. Are you happy where you are?’
She smiled fondly, though he couldn’t see: ‘Of course I’m happy where I am. I’ve got the best friends I could wish for. I’ve seen the most amazing things…’
He took her by the shoulders and lifted her gently so he could look into her eyes. ‘Are you sure? I know you wanted nothing more than to join Fairy Tail but it’s brought you a lot of hardships too. You lost your father while on Tenroujima, that stuff with Michelle and the infinity clock. If I hadn’t dragged you along all that might never have happened.’
Those were some bad memories indeed. She hung her head, eyes shaded by her hair. ‘It’s true it wasn’t always easy. But Fairy Tail’s made me who I am today. If it wasn’t for you guys me dad and I might’ve never seen each other again in the first place. You gave me courage to do things I never would have done otherwise.’
‘I’m glad to hear that,’ said Natsu. ‘I was the one that introduced you to Fairy Tail after all. I doubted for a moment today when I saw you out there. You were suffering. And I couldn’t do anything to stop it.’
‘You did more than enough. At least you gave me the chance to fight back,’ she said with glistening eyes.
‘I promise you Lucy, I’ll make them pay for what they did to you today.’
Lucy blushed. Natsu could be really cool when he wanted to be. He truly was the best she could’ve hoped for. It was no wonder he made her heart beat faster sometimes. That warmth still filled her. The blaze of the hearth. The contact she shared with him. It was all so intimate. She truly was happy she realised. And it was thanks to Natsu. Looking down at him she did something she couldn’t explain. She leant down, pursing her lips and shutting her eyes, she closed in.
Natsu was too confused to react. ‘Lucy…’
Their lips met. He didn’t respond at first but soon instinct took over. Releasing her shoulders he hugged her to him.
Lucy’s heart was skipping beats. What the heck was she doing? She’d just kissed Natsu. And he was kissing her back! This couldn’t be real. But his body pressed against hers was undeniable. Their lips separated. Breathing fast she looked at his still closed eyes. They opened languidly, as if he was dazed.
Doubt hit her. How was he going to react to this? Sure he’d responded but wouldn’t any guy do that? He’d kissed her first but that was just to help her. She’d acted on pure instinct. If he refused her…
‘I’m so sorry, Natsu,’ she blurted out before he could utter a word. ‘I don’t know what came over me. I’m so…’
A warm hand on her cheek stopped her rambling. Natsu’s gaze was burning into her. What was he…?
He came up in a flash, his lips colliding with hers. Now she was too stunned to react, at all. Moments passed but she couldn’t make herself respond. This was his answer. So many times she’s secretly hoped for this and now it was happening. It was simply too much. Her mind couldn’t accept it yet.
Natsu broke off the kiss, his back hitting the carpet. ‘Lucy?’ he asked concerned. ‘You okay?’
She was drawn back to the here and know. Him lying under her with that worried look. Tears glistened in her eyes. ‘Uhu,’ she nodded shortly. ‘Never better.’
Natsu smiled cheerily. A thought occurred to him though. ‘Say Lucy does this mean we’re…’ her heart throbbed at hearing him start that sentence but he stopped there. A lecherous look entered his eyes. ‘By the way Lucy, your buttons came loose.’
She followed his gaze down and indeed, the buttons on her pyjama shirt had come undone. Her breasts were still covered mostly but she did feel exposed. In a flash she snatched her shirt closed. ‘Pervert!’
Natsu merely grinned. ‘It’s a nice sight.’
Lucy blushed, looking off to the side. ‘You really think so?’ She relaxed her grip on her shirt. Softly she said: ‘If it’s you, you can look.’ Her arms dropped to her sides, letting her shirt fall open again.
Natsu’s enthusiasm took hold. ‘Really?’ he nearly yelled, shooting up on his elbows.
Lucy shied back, closing her shirt again. ‘No need to be so eager about it. It’s embarrassing.’
He scratched the back of his head. ‘Sorry.’
She sighed. That was Natsu for you after all. Boisterous with a though exterior but sweet and caring when he wanted to be. Like the Blossom-Viewing Festival. She noticed his face was close to hers now. He wasn’t going for a kiss though. Instead his nose nearly touched her neck.
‘Natsu, what are you…?’
‘You really do smell good Lucy,’ he said seriously. ‘I can pick up your scent anywhere. It’s an honest good-spirited scent. Something I truly love about you.’
‘Really?’ she asked softly.
Natsu nodded, the tip of his nose rubbing her neck sending shivers down her spine. ‘It’s amazing. No other person smells this good to me.’
She smiled softly. Knowing how sensitive his sense of smell was it was a nice compliment. His nose moved up her neck, behind her ear.
When he spoke his mouth was so close to her ear she could feel his breath. ‘It’s captivating like you.’
She surrendered to him. She couldn’t resist him like this even had she wanted to. Arms falling to her sides she was in heaven as he placed a gently kiss on her neck. His hands came up, gently sliding her shirt of her shoulders. It slid of her. The blaze of the hearth was still warm but her nipples hardened nonetheless by the exposure. Natsu’s hand trailed down her back, over her side and up to slide over her voluptuous breast. His rough fingers slid over her nipple, making her whimper softly. ‘Natsu…’
He came up to look at her face, flushed with half-lidded eyes. Her eyes focused on him. Her hands flew into his hair, pulling her to him. Lips crushed together. Natsu had to put his hand to support them or she’d have bowled him over but his other hand stayed on her breast, softly rubbing circles.
Pulling his head back by his hair and then pulled down. ‘Natsu, please…’
He obliged, letting her pull his face down. She pressed his mouth against the nipple of her free breast. He doubted for a moment but a moment later his mouth clamped down on her nipple. She gasped and leant back, giving him easier access. He didn’t waste the opportunity.
Lucy was surprised at her own boldness. But the feeling was too good to describe. It was a naughty fantasy coming true.
Finding his balance his hand left the ground, trailing up her leg, her thigh. It crossed her waistband, fingers tickling her sensitive sides. He gave her nipple a rough lick, her breast bouncing. Knuckles trailed her belly. Fingers extended, making their way down, crawling under her waistband. She quivered, knowing what would come.
‘Natsu…’ she said, a tremble in her voice.
He let her nipple go, nose coming to rest against the back of her jaw. ‘Aren’t you enjoying it Lucy?’ he asked with a tone in his voice that made her shudder in delight. ‘I can hear your heart pounding, your blood rushing. Isn’t it from excitement?’ His hand went further down, finding her shaven.
A flush of excitement rushed through her. Could he really read her that easily with only his hearing? It thrilled her in a way. A finger touched her clit. She shivered against him. His hand continued down, finger sliding over her sensitive nub. Her silken folds parted for the intruder.
Never had a man touched her there. He would feel her arousal now. Know how bad she wanted him.
He stroked back and forth, giving her pleasure unlike any she had ever known. Playing with herself was one thing, but this…this was unbelievable. And it was Natsu doing it to her which made it all the better.
Without warning he drew his hand back. She hissed at the sudden roughness. His ministrations stopped. He looked her in the eye. There was a glint there that made her a little nervous. But she wasn’t happy he’d stopped.
‘Natsu, why?’
He had a wicked grin as his hand came up, fingers nearly touching his nose. ‘I wanted to know what that scent was. Now I do. So that’s the scent of being aroused?’
Lucy blushed angrily. ‘I hope that’s not the only thing you wanted to find out.’
Natsu gave his fingers an experimental lick. Lucy couldn’t help but imagine him licking the source.
‘It’s very interesting thinking of how many times I’ve picked it up,’ said Natsu.
She was getting annoyed. Here she was half-naked, nearly surrendering herself to Natsu. He was firing her up and when things were getting really good he decides to play games with her!
But his demeanour changed. He cupped her chin, his other hand continuing its previous ministrations. ‘I’m allowed to mess with you a little, right?’
She huffed annoyed. ‘Not really no.’
He moved in to kiss her. ‘Then let me to make up for it.’
He kissed her softly and tenderly and she found she couldn’t resist. She kissed him back fervently, deepening the kiss. His hand let go of her chin, travelling down her body.
He came on her more forcibly this time. Kneading her breast and pinching her nipple. His hand grabbed her waistband, bursting into flames. Her eyes opened in surprise and she pulled him out of the kiss.
Looking down she looked at his flaming hand. ‘Natsu, what are you doing?’
He grinned at her: ‘Trust me.’
She could feel the fame against her belly. Not burning her but merely warm, not even uncomfortable. It burnt brighter and before her eyes her pants caught on fire, dissolving in the flame. She was about to protest but he captured her mouth with his. Letting go of his hair she put her hands on his chest, pushing him back. He didn’t resist, falling.
‘You can’t go burning my clothes,’ she yelled.
Natsu shrugged, back hitting the carpet: ‘Too late now.’
Sure enough, her pants were gone. She was completely naked. And he wasn’t. ‘Not fair,’ she said blushing.
Natsu grinned at her. His hands grabbed her buttocks pushing her forward. She lost her balance. He was surprisingly strong sometimes. She fell forward on her palms, sitting on her knees. Looking back between her breasts she could see Natsu looking up completely focused. He was right under…
He moved up. She knew what was coming. Shuddering in anticipation she couldn’t help but have her doubts. ‘Natsu, wait…’
The tip of his tongue touched her nether lips making her gasp. He gave her a rough experimental lick up and down her slit. The sensation alone had her arms lose their strength. Her breasts hit the carpet. She bit her finger to keep from crying out as Natsu’s tongue parted her pink folds.
She couldn’t believe it. Natsu was eating her out. Natsu was eating her out and she was loving it! She was losing her mind. He was driving her crazy, grinding her pussy against his lips.
His tongue left her, colder air hitting her glistening lips.
‘Natsu,’ she panted. His hands had left her behind and he was moving behind her but she couldn’t find the strength to look back. ‘Please don’t stop now. I can’t stand it anymore. I need it.’
‘And you’ll get it,’ he said. His tongue licked her again but from instead of underneath her. Hands on her butt again to hold her in place he went at her with renewed vigour. She moaned in pleasure. He took her to new heights, an orgasm fast approaching. She was gasping and squirming in bliss. He flicked her clit. It hit her like a storm, blanking out her mind. She didn’t know for sure but she thought she yelled his name in the height of her ecstasy.
When she regained her senses she was lying on her side, Natsu lying in front of her, a look of admiration on his face. He was looking at her with love and it made her smile. She was still regaining her breath. She reached out to put her hand on his cheek.
He spoke first. ‘You look real pretty like that. Flushed with passion.’
‘That was amazing,’ she said.
‘You were pretty loud there.’
She blushed but didn’t care. It had been the best thing ever. She wriggled closer to kiss him. He met her halfway. It was tender and filled with love but there was a hunger on his side. And she was more than ready to still it. He’d given her a lot of pleasure tonight. It was time to return the favour and maybe get a bit more for herself. She crawled on top of him, lips locked together. She lay flat on top of him, breasts against his bare chest, her crotch grinding against his. She could feel his arousal. Now it was her time to have her way with him.
Sliding sideways over his lips she whispered in his ear. ‘Take off your pants.’
He sounded contrite. ‘Lucy, you don’t have to…’
‘Then I’ll do it for you.’ And without further ado she wriggled down his body. Her hair trailed over his skin, tickling him ever so softly but he flinched nonetheless. Something she found very funny for a though guy like Natsu. Crawling further down, knees between his legs. She tugged his pants down, underwear and all. His manhood sprang free. She gave it an admiring gaze. Pants halfway down she let them go to grab his pole. Gently her delicate finger closed around it. Warm and soft to the touch she heard him hiss. Was it truly that sensitive? With a slightly wicked grin of her own she gently began stroking him slowly. His face scrunched up in pleasure. Was this how it felt for him when he did all that stuff to her? To feel so in control over the other? She switched speed for a few strokes at random, squeezing a little harder now and then just to see how he responded. But as fun as it was she wanted to get on with it. There was an itch that needed to be scratched. She’d been rubbing her legs together for the past few minutes to stave off the urge but it wasn’t helping. Holding his member she crawled forward. Natsu’s was looking up at her lustfully. She supposed she couldn’t blame him. Having a guy gaze up at you like that wasn’t bad. But she could tease him for it.
‘Enjoying the view?’ she asked teasingly.
He nodded with a hard swallow. ‘It’s a beautiful sight.’
She smiled a pleased smile. As a reward she lowered herself just enough so his tip touched her sex. He was looking at her intently now, as if looking for signs of doubt. But she had none. She slid his member up and down a few times, lubricating it with her juices. Her legs nearly lost their strength by it. Stopping at the right spot she lowered herself. The feeling of his manhood parting her lips, the head sliding into her was amazing. It was warm and alive. She could feel his pulse through their connection. Lower she went biting her lower lip in concentration. He was stretching her love tunnel around his penis. She could feel every bit of it. With a pleasant shudder he was inside her all the way. She hadn’t even realised she’d closed her eyes halfway. She was just so caught up in the sensation.
‘You look beautiful,’ he said. The way he did made her heart melt. She looked at him. He wanted to come up. Maybe to kiss her but a hand on his chest pushed him back down gently.
She was looking down at him with lustful eyes that had him swallow.
‘You’ve made me feel good. Just enjoy for now,’ she said and raised herself until only the tip of him was still in her.
He may have agreed but the grunt he gave when she slammed back down stopped his reply.
She started at a slow pace, enjoying the thrill of feeling him inside her. He grunted her name, hands coming to rest on her hips. He was assisting her rising up and down. She couldn't tell if his face spoke of agony or great pleasure but she knew it was good either way. Her pace increased. Lewd sounds filled the room. The sound of flesh slapping. The gasps she was giving. The groans he was making.
And in the blaze of the hearth it was glorious to her. She couldn’t hold herself up anymore. Supporting herself against his chest their foreheads touched one another. He was looking straight into her eyes. She ground against him. He scrunched his eyes closed and she smiled happily. It truly was amazing this.
‘Lucy,’ he groaned. ‘I can’t hold it anymore. I’m going to lose it.’
She intensified her pace. ‘Just a little longer Natsu.’
She felt him tense beneath her. He gave a grunt of exertion, body going rigid. A well of warmth exploded inside her. Her own climax hit her. She shot upright, the sensation whirling through her. She arched her back, yelling an inarticulate cry of pleasure as her vision blanked out.
The room’s quiet was only disturbed by the crackling of the fire and their laboured breathing. Outstretched she lay on top of him, he on his chest listening to his calming heart. One of his arms lay over her shoulders, keeping her to him. This truly was heaven to her. She’d never felt this happy before. She could lie like this forever, enjoying Natsu’s closeness and comfort. She still couldn’t believe they’d just made love. The thought of it made her cheeks burn. But the enjoyment of the afterglow was amazing.
They’d both been quiet since their climax. He hadn’t said a word and she didn’t dare. What was she going to say anyway? In the heat of the moment she’d just let herself go but now she was a bit scared. How was this going to affect their life? Even more important, their friendship? She couldn’t bear to even imagine losing him as her best friend.
‘Na…’ she began but he beat her to it.
‘Calm down Lucy,’ he said. ‘I can almost hear you thinking.’
‘What are you hearing then?’ she asked timidly.
‘Worry,’ he said and hugged her closer to him.
‘Well, I am worried. I…I don’t know where this is going to go from here and it scares me.’
Natsu’s voice was strong an reassuring as always. ‘We’re still friends aren’t we?’ She nodded. ‘Good, ‘cause I won’t allow anything to change that. We’re friends to the bitter end.’
That lifted her spirit a little on one side but crushed it otherwise. ‘Just friends?’
Natsu shifted under her as if uncomfortable. ‘Maybe not just friends. Not anymore anyway.’
This wasn’t going the way she wanted it to. What was he to her then? A friend with benefits? She bristled in indignation. Before she could say anything his hand came up, fingers on her chin making her look up at his face. His expression was serious and honest, maybe even a bit vulnerable.
‘You mean a lot to me Lucy,’ he said. ‘A whole lot more than just a friend. You’re a companion for live, one way or another. I’m just a bit confused right now, that’s all.’
Her eyes were moist. He was such an idiot sometimes. But he was a really sweet idiot. He was just as afraid of hurting her as she was of hurting him.
‘I understand,’ she said. ‘I’m a but confused to so maybe…let’s not rush into things but see where things take us?’
He nodded. She smiled and pushed herself forward so their lips met, softly and tenderly. It didn’t last long but that was okay. She took the opportunity to make as much contact with him as possible, resting her head on his shoulder. His one hand sought out hers, their fingers entwining while the one on her shoulder went up, stroking her hair softly. She sighed happily. That did feel very nice.
She yawned. She was way too comfortable to keep the urge to sleep at bay.
They simply lay there, enjoying the company of the other as her eyes drooped more and more.
‘Natsu?’ she asked sleepily.
He gave a sleepy hum.
He was close to falling asleep too it seemed. His breathing was slow and rhythmic, his heart steady and comforting to listen to.
‘I do love you, you know. I can’t deny that any longer. Not even to myself.’
‘I love you too Lucy,’ he murmured.
Her body jolted, eyes wide open. Had he just said…?
‘Natsu, I thought…’ but a soft snore interrupted her.
She felt indignation well up inside her, trying to mush herself up to look at his face but he held her down, gently but firm. She sighed. He truly was incorrigible. She let it go, relaxing back against him. Those words replayed in her mind over and over again. Her smile was soft and tender, fuelled by the warm feeling of love and protection she felt from him. It didn’t matter if he’d said it while drifting off to sleep, maybe not even aware of it. He’d said it and that was what mattered. With a feeling of good dreams coming she felt her mind slipping into them.
But when the morning sun was up and she was woken from her wonderland by a menacing aura her dreams burst like a bubble. Through half-lidded eyes she could see two armoured boots, one foot tapping impatiently. It took a moment to realize what was going on but then shock, fear and a sense of dread filled her. She looked up ever so slowly, fervently praying this wasn’t real but not even nightmares could replicate the scariness of Titania’s expression.
‘Lucy, just what is going on here?’
She realised she was still naked and still lying on top of Natsu. With a start she sat up, covering her breasts. ‘E…E…Erza, it’s not what you think.’
Beneath her Natsu stirred. ‘Not so loud Lucy, too early.’
She shot backwards as it occurred to her how she was sitting on top of him. But that proved to be a bad move as Natsu had been having good dreams too it looked as his member sprang up.
Never in her life had she been that scared of Erza’s expression before.
Down below Elfman was looking at his drink very intently out on the terrace of the café. Gajeel sat on the opposite side of the table leaning back, feet on another chair with his own drink held in his hand.
‘She’s sure giving them hell,’ said Elfman, flinching at the sounds coming from above.
Gajeel took a gulp from his mug. ‘That’ll learn them to be quieter next time. They woke me up from a good nap.’
A chair crashed down on the pavement not far from them.
‘How did Erza find out anyway?’ asked Elfman, looking warily at the broken pieces of furniture.
Gajeel chuckled. ‘Things like this spread like fire inside Fairy Tail.’
‘You…’ said Elfman astonished.
Gajeel merely grinned. ‘I owed Natsu one.’
