A/N to kick off story: It starts somewhere in last 6 months before first meeting Natsu and Lucy (with more accent put on 4-6 months before).

Fairy Tail: Hell's Angel

 

Chapter 1: Oath

"Open the Gate of the Twins! Gemi and Mini!"



A pair of small ghosts showed up near Angel.



"Open the Gate of the Monkey! Zin Xiao!"



Man of medium height with brown eyes and a similar color fur covering his monkey tail appeared next to Arik.



"This time you'll lose a key," sarcastically said female mage. "I'll not let you go away with all like the last time."



"I'm not going to walk away as before," he replied, "at least not without all my keys. It's you who should worry about your own keys."



"What are you so sure today? And why you don't start?"



"Since you won't win I can afford to let you start today," said calmly Arik. Near his feet materialized two-tailed cat with crimson fur.



"Nyaaan, nyan, nnnyan," she murmured as if to confirm her owner words.



"Two spirits at once. Thought that you'll call them one by one," she giggled.



"Nyana won't be fighting," he hesitated for a moment, "unless there is no other capable of fighting spirit on my side."



"Don't use up your energy too quickly while maintaining two ghosts and one of them powerful?" she slightly raised an eyebrow but didn't respond. "If you want. Gemi and Mini begin."



Both spirits obediently moved slightly approaching each other and surrounded them luminous glow when their turned into two-tailed cat crimson fur.



"Predictable ," said calmly Arik and sitting next to a stellar spirit only slightly murmured in disapproval. "Nyaaan."



"Nyan, nyaan, nnnyan," said changed Gemi and Mini.



"I'm coming," said Zin doing jump ahead and launching a kick with a spin. Crimson cat without too much trouble jumped to avoid the attack.



"So you have the agility?" Xiao attacked again, this time trying to strike a blow with his fist but once again the opponent jumped almost casually avoiding hit.



"Not only," said the twins when they changed the form assuming humanoid form. Around one of their hand appeared a white glow.



"Snow magic," said unsurprised Zin when jumping to the side avoided before stream of snow which used his opponent. "A little aim-off attack or it suppose to gave me a chance to avoid it?"



"Guess," said with arrogance in his voice twin spirit.



"So the former. Nyana wouldn't allow herself for such a clumsy attack. Or maybe you just haven't used to using this magic," once again jumped when another snowstorm attack touched the end of his tail.



"And again," once again narrowly escaped the attack. "I can do this all day you know?"



"The whole day? Or maybe you don't want to hurt such a lovely spirit as we are?" Gemi-Nyana adopted an alluring pose emphasizing her feminine shapes.



"I prefer the original," after this commentary cat spirit sitting next to Raven purred slightly on what Xiao just smiled.



"And why didn't you fight?" Gemi-Nyana looked in the direction of Nyana. "Are you afraid that you will get beat up by better copy?"



"Nyaaaaan, Nyan," said the cat and bared her fangs.



"I agree," said Xiao. "But they will certainly not be able to use your other abilities. Juggling tricks with snow anyone can make."



"You think I don't have access to all the magic that she can use?" Gemi-Nyana slightly raised eyebrow and fetched her hands in front of her. "See," she said and she started to perform slowly in wide arches moves with her palms.



"Well?" Zin looked around. "I guess you should be able to control me by now. And oh yeah I forgot I'm a celestial spirit," crouched down and made a quick jump straight ahead at Gemini, which surprised didn't even react.



"I mean I'm immune to it," he quickly stood up and rushed to the side to avoid the claws slash from Gemi-Nyanya." What I can't tell you about your or my owner."



"Nyaaan, nyan," clearly angrily muttered Nyana.



"Since you inadvertently spilled the beans," she said and first sent two more one after the other streams of snow in the direction of monkey spirit. Both managed to slightly hurt him but when he was recovering form them she has started to perform movements with his hands turned towards Arik.



"Do you feel anything?" sounding blithely Raven looked at sitting next to his leg cat, who just nodded her head negatively.



"Well I can't feel anything. Perhaps their can't use that magic. Maybe it's too powerful to be properly used. Well I could ask you to shown it on their owner but that would be breaking the rules of honorable combat, even if she doesn't plan stick to it," cat nodded her head understandingly.



"It can't be..." Gemi and Mini not finished when Zin very strong hit them in the stomach turning over. Not even getting up their sent his way powerful snowstorm attack, which also knocked him to the ground.



"Don't get distracted," said Gemi-Nyana and crouching jumped in his direction. Before he could react she left few traces of claws on his clothes.



"Damn it was a new outfit," grumbled Xiao and thus didn't spotted a snow attack that hit him. Another minute or two Gemi-Nyana was sending one after another attacks with snow magic, which more frequently started to reach it target.



"I think your spirit begins to lose. Don't want to replace it with another?" slightly mockingly asked Angel on what her spirit only accelerated the pace of attacks.



"Maybe. My spirit still holding up well," he looked toward his spirit. For a moment he thought before he pulled out another key.



"Open the Gate of the Dog! Madea! " at his side appeared a large black dog.



"Another spirit at the same time called. Don't feel fatigue overcoming you?" Angel asked, carefully eyeing other celestial spirits mage. He still didn't look for someone who was feeling the burden of maintaining another spirit.



"Zin Xiao go back. Madea will take your place," Raven shouted toward the monkey spirit, which for a moment stopped and due to this recivied a mighty blow. Madea wasting no time moved ahead and jump over him stood before Gemi-Nyanya. Xiao himself slowly began to fade back to his world.



"Next opponent. Would you like to come back as soon as the previous one to our world?" she sent in the direction of a black dog several streams of snow.



"I'm not so weak," said Black Fury slowly changing its shape into more humanish. When she had finished it almost immediately jumped to the side to avoid the stream of snow.



"Zin Xiao even let us use for a bit more magic we copied."



"It's not your magic. And you not using it properly," Madea slowly got up from the ground. However, after receiving a direct hit snow attack only slightly staggered but was still standing. "It was supposed to be an attack? Nyana is attacking like a girl but you are even more pathetic. Can't put up enough power into attack to knock me out."



"Not enough power? Try to stop it," around Gemi-Nyanya began to accumulate masses of snow slowly forming into a huge snowstorm.



"Slow," when Gemi-Nyana finished preparing to attack Black Fury rushing headbutted her knocking back several meters. Not stopping continued run, then jumped and with great force fell straight onto Gemi and Mini stunning them.



"Nyana would already twice used this attack. You need more practice with proper use copied magic," teased dog spirit when Angel unsummoned Gemini.



"What you try to use this time? Gemini are your strongest spirit," he showed no surprise when she fetched a platinum key. "So you managed to get one. Congratulations."



"Open the Gate of the Ox! Gala! " next to Angel appeared a new spirit. She looks like average height attractive looking woman with a right size of, one could call it simply enormous, attributes of femininity and features a cow. Among the long-reaching to around lumbar part of her back blond hair stuck out a medium-sized horns, sides of face framed by cow ears, arms and legs from the fingertips to the area near hips and shoulders covered with white fur patches here and there with black spots and instead of feet she had ample hooves.



"Wait with congratulations as I take one of yours keys," said Sorano.



"Gala the Defender. Interesting spirit from Ancient Zodiac you get. But you know that it is rather defensive spirit. Madea on the other hand can still fight, right?" he looked in the direction of the canine spirit that stood still. "What happened Fury?"



"I will not fight her," replied with a firm voice.



"If you doesn't win their will win first round," he tried to convince her to fight.



"Well I don't think you knew that ox and dog are friends," commented maliciously Angel.



"Well, in that case you won the first round," trying to keep composure said Arik. "Then what? Next round?"



"So fast you want to lose? If you want," she replied and turned to the Gala. It was enough for Madea to change for split second into form of enormous human and wolf hybrid and then quickly throw a pair of labris directly at cow spirit. Before Angel reacted her spirit has started to return to the celestial world.



"How?" She took another two keys. "Open the Gate of the Ram! Aries! Open the Gate of the Scorpion! Scorpio!" beside her began to appear two new spirits.



"You forgot about Madei weapons?" at this point near Sorano flew by pair of axes seriously injuring just called spirits and returned to hand the dog spirit, who prepared for the next throw. "Want me to forced your two spirits into long-term healing in their world or will you give up this round?" quite calmly asked when Madea she started slowly swirl both labrises using ends of the chains attached to their handles.



"Round for you," she only said when recalling wounded spirits. Arik also unsummoned Madea.



"I think you used a bit too much magical energy. Maybe a half to full hour of break so you regaine most of used magical power," he suggested.



"You'll lose after prtoposing such thing. However let it be. Would have more pleased crushing you in the last round," she said with slightly calmly.



"Maybe. I running out of aces in my sleeve. But you don't have a lot of them either if you got any," he said before he started walk to the end of the clearing still occasionally glancing in her direction. About forty minutes later, they stood again before each other.



"Ready to lose?" he asked first.



"Ready yes but to win," she replied cocky.



"Open the Gate of the Monkey! Zin Xiao! " called the first spirit to what Angel replied, calling a couple of spirits.



"Open the Gate of the Twins! Gemi and Mini! " showed up dutifully preparing to fight.



"This time counts only win," he said and looked toward Zin. "Go ahead with plan."



Xiao nodded his head knowingly and began to change shape assuming appearance of female celestial mage.



"What?" she managed to mutter as Zin-Angel forcibly closed gates of twins causing them to return back. "Don't you think it's going to stop me?" she said.



"But of course I think so," he replied maintaining seriousness when next few recalls ended up the same.



"Open the Gate of the Ram! Aries!" almost as soon as it came out Zin-Angel sent her back.



"Open the Gate of the Scorpion! Scorpio!" He also began to disappear a few seconds after arriving.



"Open the Gate of the Ox! Gala! Open the Gate of the Twins! Gemi and Mini! " despite summoning even two spirits at once morphed Arik's spirit unsummoned both starting with Twins to not loose advantage. Gala tried to attack when he was busy dealing with Gemi and Mini, however seeing two Sorano stopped confused for a moment, long enough to be send back as previous spirits.



"Summon whatever you want," Xiao mocked her. "And like any of them I'll send them back. And you only will you lose magic power."



"Looks like I won the whole fight," Arik almost casually ran his hand through his hair. "So will you act nice and first admit that you lost another round and secondly keep your end of deal? Or should I kill you and just take away from your body all your keys?"



Angel was silent thinking over next move. She glanced sideways at what he just said that if she tried to escape would catch up with her and kill her. Besides, she haven't enough energy even to attempt to escape. Calling so many spirits in a very short time it exhausted her quite well.



"Good. Let it be but just this once," she replied with resigned and slightly angry voice. "So which key do you want?"



"Not now, but I want you made an oath that if for any reason your contract with spirit called by key I chosen will be terminated I became its next owner," she looked at him slightly surprised thus he continued. "I'm not like you to force you to break the contract now. You would be to keep using that spirit until due to natural course of things it get into my possession."



"Then which?"



"Could you show me all of them. I will not steal them I promise. I just want to see them all at once to decide," he said and slowly approached her. He waited for a moment when she pulled all the keys and a bit wary gave them to him. For a moment, looked at them and then gave her back half of them. Again for a moment staring at them wondering about the choice and then gave her the rest of the keys except one. He handed it to her after she already hid the rest.



"Call that spirit. Let him know about the oath," and looking back he added. "Enough Zin for now. You can also go back." Monkey spirit returned almost immediately to his true form.



"Interesting is the magic of those twins," he said mischievously before gone back to celestial world.



"Why? These are just celestial spirits," Angel protested. But his gaze didn't leave any doubts on what she uttered the right words and said spirit appeared.



"Satisfied?" she asked.



"Yes," he replied and looked toward the summoned celestial spirit. "Today, your owner has promised that when your contract ends for any reason your key will be passed to me. When the time comes personally or anyone on my behalf will show up to take it. Till that time see ya," he said before he said goodbye to Angel too and turning back left her with still summoned spirit.



"I don't know whether you have chosen right spirit," said Nyana when their walked away for a considerable distance. "Not to mention that if she fulfill the oath."



"Does it matter if I chose well. Anyway better to have a diverse group than focus only on the best ones."



Their were walking for some time before cat spirit noticed her owner clearly thinking on something. "Something bothering your head?"



"Since the last meeting she gained one of the platinum keys. Maybe even could get another soon. I thinking if not change my mind and just go now and beat her up to point her contracts breaking," slowly was approaching from the opposite direction him a man with dark blue hair wearing glasses.



"And how it was brother. Did you win?" Kazuki asked when their stopped a few steps from each other.



"How could I not win. She was foolish mage thinking that she had any chance," smiled slightly Arik.



"So you have a new key? Some interesting?"



"I don't know if curious. And I'll have it when contract would be broken. You forgeting that forcefully breaking it would be something I would do dark mage," he said. " And how was your attempts to control your doll?"



"My doll," Kazuki thought involuntarily touching the small heart-shaped pendant that was on his neck. "I still think on the way to deal with her character when she assume her battle form."



"She still sometimes don't listen to your commands?"



"No that isn't an issue. But no one warned me that she may have something like of a personality of its own. Fortunately it doesn't affect her combat capabilities just 'our' relationship. Ughh it's weird to talk about her as if she was like any of the your spirits," the younger Raven scratched his head sheepishly. "Maybe I can quite quickly sort it out."



"Of course. Eventually, you're my little brother," said Arik slightly amused. "Can anything be too difficult to solve for you?"



"Feelings," Kazuki replied with almost impossible to hear by brother voice, "and a woman."



"What was that?" older brother stopped for a moment.



"That something must be somewhere that I'll not be able to understand," replied the younger slayer quickly catching up to other brother.



"How long will you stay in this country?" he asked when their again started walk ahead.



"A couple of weeks. Maybe sooner if the saved from Alpha woman will once again need someone to deal with the side effects of the take-over that demon," said Kazuki.



"You sound as if you was not finding even a little bit of pleasure in 'helping' her. Maybe she isn't your type, huh?" on that question younger man slightly blushed.



"That's not what this is about," started Kazuki realizing that only provoke only an older brother to future comments.



"So maybe you not like girls that have a problems with their own personality or rather with two personalities of their. One incarnate of good and innocence and the other naughty and being able to try to dominate you," mused blue-haired slayer.



"Let's finish this, okay?"



"But it is interesting," protested Arik.



"It isn't and that it. At least not for me," said Kazuki.



"Hmmm did I sensed here some emotional involvement?”



The younger Raven didn't answered. Older yet tried a few times to push the subject but after failed attempts gave up and rest of the way toward the city passed in silence.

A/N: Chapter may been a little rough here or there but well never had to work out purely spirits fight scenes and in mange their also kinda little to none fight between themself. Kinda reminds me scenes here pokemons like: I choose you go and etc.

A/N v2: Sadly Gala ate that part (dunno tell her but dat ox is sometimes really hungry ^^)

A/N v3: Trying to keep up with forecast next chap title seems so challangefull (since my another period of not able write anything readable ending I hope 2nd chap will come soon). Ok seems it would call for major retrospection later so Rematch move to some later chapters (3rd or maybe even 4th) and next will be about Angel getting first taste of been real angel ^^
