The steady caw from the seagulls were a blessing against the never ending blue. The sky was clear and the ocean calm. Suki slumped over the railing on the side of the ship extremely bored and starving. She couldn't remember the last time she had ate. The ship's cook ran low on food sometime after she joined them and has refused to give her any because she wasn't apart of the crew. Her stomach grumbled. She looked up when the lookout yelled he spotted an island. She was saved!
Once the ship was tied to the dock, Suki descended the ramp as her midnight black hair swayed in the wind, the sun catching the white highlights. She stopped and stretched, making sure the two katanas were securely strapped to her back. She continued through the small port town looking for a place to eat. She had been traveling the Grand Line in search of her brother, Sabo. They were separated at a young age when pirates kidnapped her for a handsome price, but her snob of a father refused. Going as far as disowning her. She was only six years old, and here she was twelve years later hopping ship to ship, traveling island to island on a desperate hunt.
Suki pushed opened the doors to Vita's pub, and the loud rush from inside deafened her ears, but she welcomed it after the quiet ship ride. She noticed a small band in the corner being louder than the rest. There was guy who had on a straw hat and was trying to steal food from everyone else at his table. The blonde sitting there started yelling at him while a guy with a long nose and some furry looking guy cried. The two women sat next to each other. The one with black hair was smiling with amusement at the red head yelling at the guys. Suki's eyes traveled over the last guy sitting with his back to the wall so he would be able to see everything. He had a huge mug in his hand with three swords at his hip. She had never seen someone as raw with power as that man. There was an aura about him that thirst for blood.
She tore her eyes off of him as she went to the bar. There were two guys that had a little too much to drink, and Suki hoped for once she wouldn't have to get into a fight. They were yelling at one another when she stepped up to get the bar tender's attention. The one closest to her put his hand around her waist and drew her close to him.
"Hey babe, why don't you spend some time with us?" He asked.
Suki held her breath as she pulled her head back. God, his breath stunk. His friend peered over his shoulder and smiled a yellow, toothy, smile. "We can show you what a real man is like."
Hardly. "No thanks. Now if you would be so kind as to release me." Suki said as she closed her eyes with a smile.
"Now why would I do that?" The guy said as he tighten his grip.
Suki opened her eyes staring into the man's with a cold, murderous expression. Still smiling she whispered, "If you want to continue to breathe, I suggest you let go of me right now."
"You heard the lady."
Suki and the man looked up at the new voice. It was the blonde from straw hat's table. With this close of a look she noticed that his hair was parted, covering his left eye while leaving the right one exposed revealing a curled eyebrow. He lit a cigarette, exhaling the smoke into the man's face. She happened to look over at his friends. They were all staring at them, as was everyone else in the pub. She made eye contact with the green haired swordsman, quickly looking away as a slight blush filled her cheeks.
"Why don't you mind your own business, pretty-boy." The second guy spoke.
"I couldn't leave a pretty lady with the likes of you." He said coolly.
Suki couldn't understand why he would do something like this for her. "Please, I don't want any trouble." she tried diplomacy. "You can go sit back with your friends. No need fighting on my behave."
The blonde took another hit from his cigarette. "I couldn't live with myself if I allow pigs to harm a delicate flower."
"Pigs!" The second guy yelled in drunken anger.
He charged the blonde, but was quickly knocked back by a kick. Suki watched with amazement as he stood there, hands in his pockets, perfectly balanced on one foot while the other was bent slight in the air. She had never seen a fighting style like that before, it was incredible. The guy holding her shoved her back before reaching for a knife that was with his meal. He held it out in front charging the blonde from behind. Suki was vaguely aware of the green haired man reaching for his sword to aid his friend, but she beat him to it.
Suki used the momentum of the shove to spin her body around, drawing one of her katanas as she went. She placed the blade at the stranger's neck stopping him just before he reached the blonde, the knife inches away from his back. Light reflected as it trailed down the length of the solid black blade. It didn't have a guard, but the handle was wrapped in black and white cloth, intersecting in a beautiful pattern. With a malicious smile on her face, her golden eyes narrowed with murderous intent. The man's hand began to shake as he dropped the knife.
"That's a good boy." Suki said coldly. "Now, pick up your dumbass friend and get the hell out of here. My patience only go so far." She watched as he backed away from her blade and quickly went to his friend. He had to pry him off the wall before he threw him over his shoulder and ran out of the pub. Suki sheathed her sword as she turned to the blonde. With a pleasant smile and an innocent look in her eyes, she said, "I want to thank you for your help just now."
