Kaoru sat in his room in the hospital reading a book. He's been in and out of the hospital since he was a little kid. When he was only 5 years old, he was diagnosed with a deadly disease, and the doctors told his parents that he wasn't going to live to see adulthood. They were understandably devistated by the news. He was now 17 years old, and the disease had taken it's toll on his body. He was shorter than most boys his age, and he was skinny, sickly and frail looking, and looked like he could drop dead at any moment. He was homeschooled because he was too weak to go to school, so he didn't have that many friends outside of his family. He didn't have any siblings, but he did have cousins, and they would come to visit him. But his cousins lived in other cities, and they did go to school. He wasn't that weak, he could still a lot of things by himself, but he still had his limits. He was happy because his closest friend that wasn't a part of his family was coming to visit him. Her name was Ami Mizuno, and she would visit him whenever she could. He had other friends too, but Ami was his closest friend. And all of his friends were only friends with him because they were friends with Ami. He also had a crush on Ami, as well as on some of Ami's friends, because most of her friends were hot girls, and he was a teenage boy. But Ami was his biggest crush.
There was a knock at the door. "Excuse me, may I come in?" he heard Ami's voice from the other side.
"Yes, please come in." he answered.
The door opened and in entered a beautiful young girl with short blue hair and blue eyes.
"Hello Kaoru, how are you feeling today?" she asked with a smile.
"I'm okay." he answered excitedly, happy to be able to see her again.
"I'm happy to hear that." she said happily.
She had been coming to vivit him at the hospital for almost 5 years, and the two had become very good friends. He was also one of the few people who knew that she was Sailor Mercury, and he promised her that he wouldn't tell anyone, and he kept that promise. They had met when she had come to the hospital, and they started talking. They had a couple of things in common. They were both smart and they both loved to read. He wasn't anywhere near as smart as she was, but he was still smarter than a lot of the students at school.
Ami also knew that he would not live to see adulthood, and she was also sad by it. She also had a little crush on him, and wanted to do something special for him before he left them. The good news was that he was also able to go out into public, but as long as he was with someone that he and his family trusted, and Ami was someone that they trusted very dearly. Kaoru's parents loved Ami, and so did the rest of his family. Some of his couisins also thought she was hot, and they would tease him by asking him if she was his girlfriend. He always got flustered and denied it. But the truth is, he really wouldn't mind being boyfriend and girlfriend with her.
They had scheduled a day out together the day before, and his parents were okay with it, as long as they had a way to get help if something happened. They were going to the mall to hang out. It was gonna be just the two of them that day, because Ami's other friends were busy today, and he was okay with that. He did like being around her other friends, because they were also his friends, but he enjoyed it when it was just Ami and him. He got dressed and they left the hospital. They walked to the mall, which was close to the hospital. It was a very nice day outside, and they both really enjoyed the fresh air.
They were just gonna walk around at the mall, and get something to eat. It was nothing too special, just two friends hanging out at the mall. Or so they both thought. Kaoru wasn't going to die a virgin.

"Wait, let's go to my house." she suggested.
He had been to her house a few times.
"Okay." he accepted.
They walked to her house, which was empty, so they were gonna be alone for a few hours.
They got there and the went to her room.
"Kaoru, you're one of my closest friends." she said with a sad tone in her voice. "I want to give you something special." she continued as she walked towards him.
When she got to him, and kissed him deeply. He kissed her back and they started making out in her room. Their kissing had gotten so much better, and he enjoyed it when she kissed him. They were kissng buddies, but today they were gonna take it further. The kissed for a few moments, before she broke it, which made him a little bit sad, because he wished it could last forever.
"Kaoru." she said his name.
"Yes, Ami." he responded.
"I want to give you something special before you leave me." she said, tears forming in her eyes.

Ami never really got over her first love, and her first time, but she was able to move on. She stayed in touch with his family for a while, until his parents moved away to be with his cousins. She really missed him, and some days were harder than others, but she was still able to keep going. And she had her friends and her family to help her get through it. Eventually, she was able to find love again, but she still never really got over her first one.
