        Shinji and Asuka froze shocked by their guardian’s use of such strong language. Even Penpen stood motionless. Then Asuka broke the silence. “Well Shinji was being a real pervert. He walked in on me while I was about to take a bath.”

Asuka crossed her arms. “It doesn’t change the fact you violated my privacy.”
“Well you should have had the door locked.”

Misato just sighed and had another beer. There just had to be something she could do to get the two of them to stop fighting and work through whatever problems that they had with each other. By the time Misato got to her third beer an idea had popped into her mind. It was pretty crazy, but it might have been just crazy enough to work.
        The next day when Shinji and Asuka got back from school they saw Misato doing a lot of work on her apartment door. She had added a ton of locks and they were all on the outside. Shinji asked. “What’s going on Misato ?”
Misato replied. “Let’s just say that I am doing what has to be done.”
Asuka examined the door herself and said. “You can only lock the door out here now. There’s no way to lock it or even open it up from the inside.”
Misato wiped some sweat from her brow. “Exactly that’s the point.”
“But why would you do this?” Asuka responded. “Is it to keep Penpen from getting out?”
“He never could wander out before.” Shinji said.
“This has nothing to do with Penpen.” Misato stated. “This is about the two of you.”
Asuka and Shinji both jumped and shouted. “What?”
Misato stopped working on the door and gazed at them coldly. “In the months we’ve been living together the two of you have been at each other’s throats. As your guardian I am sick and tried of being the one who has to stop the two of you from fighting. I honestly have enough on my mind and shouldn’t’ have to worry about you two killing each other.”
“I don’t think it’s that bad.” Shinji replied.
Misato responded. “Well it’s definitely getting there. So, I have decided that for the next week you’re going to stay locked in this apartment by yourselves and unless’ there’s an Angel attack there’s no way your getting out early. If you don’t work things out and are getting along by the time I get back, you’re not going to like the consequences.”

“But what about school?” Asuka asked

Once he got in Misato gave them a wave and a wink then slammed the door shut. Shinji lurched as though he had been sealed in a tomb. Shinji stood up and yelled. “Well maybe if you didn’t pick on me all the time for no reason, this wouldn’t have happened!”

        Asuka threw the remote at Shinji’s head and it hit him right in the nose. The remote fell on the floor as blood started dripping down Shinji’s nose. Shinji saw that Asuka was starting to cry. He let go of her and stood up and looked at his shaking hands. Shinji ran to his room and closed the door, he laid down on his futon and cried.
