Then, Akainu or Sakazuki was the one who became the fleet admiral after he defeated Aokiji in ten days non stop fight in Punk Hazard.
Darius was disappointed by this decision and he decided to retire. And indeed, the world government didn’t agree with his decision because it would be a great lost for them if Darius was no longer a marine.
The Gorosei then invited him to Marijoa and tried to negotiate with him. They tried to persuade Darius to stay but Darius rejected their offer. Then the gorosei gave Darius a new posisiton in marine as a Vice Fleet Admiral. Not only that, They would give Darius the same privileges like The Tenryuubito had, where he was allowed to have slaves and could live in Marijoa.
