Pokemon Hoenn

I love Pokemon. the games at least. I used to like the TV show but now it just sucks...anyways I'm a huge fan of the Pokemon games and decided to write about an adventure in one of them, Pokemon Emerald to be exact. well...not much else to say...(goes into a corner to play Pokemon)

--------------------------------------------------------

Jackie sighed as she sat in the back of the moving van, the dull brown cardboard boxes lurching dangerously around her. This hardly seemed like a safe idea, but as the moving truck only had two front seats that were taken by the driver and her mother; she was stuck in the back. “There should be a law against this.” She murmured as the truck shook slightly. Jackie was a small girl with short brown hair that was covered with a green bandanna. Her eyes were a bright blue color and she wore simple red shorts and a red a green shirt.

“I should really stop letting my mom shop for me.” She looked like some weird Christmas decoration.
She and her family had been living in the city but thanks to her father’s job had been forced to move. Well…she had been forced but it was hard to leave everything you know your friends, home and just move into some hic of a town in the country. Life wasn’t fair. Her father wasn’t a Pokémon trainer, or more specifically, a Gym Leader. She wanted to be just like him! Travel the world, collect Pokémon, beat Gym Leaders and become a champion Pokémon trainer. But this dream was difficult as her mother was overprotective and thought that going on an adventure, or even having a Pokémon, was too dangerous. She would be safe. She was sixteen now, some kids left home at ten years old!

Suddenly she was jerked from her thoughts as the truck stopped. The door slid up and light poured inside, blinding her for a moment. As soon as she could see she noticed the truck driver waiting for her to get out. Stepping out of the truck she saw a large two story building that was supposed to be their new home. Her father wasn’t even there; he had gone to his new Gym. Hearing the front door open she saw her mother rush out excitedly. Her mother, a tall woman with dark brown hairs and green eyes grinned.

“Jackie! We’re here honey! It must have been tiring ridding with our things in the moving truck.” her mother said, hardly concerned that her daughter was giving her a death glare.
“Actually yes it was. If we had brought our car with us instead of leaving it behind-“
But she was cut off as her mother continued, completely ignoring her. “Well, this is Littleroot Town. How do you like it?”

Jackie took a look around. There were only three houses including their own! What the hell kind of town was this? It wasn’t a town, it was a prison! A small area surrounded by trees except for a small path that lead into it. “I think we were better off living in the city.” She grumbled.
Her mother sighed. “Well this is our new home so get used to it. Sure it has a…quaint feel to it, but it seems to be an easy place to live, don’t you think? And you get your own room Jackie!”
This hardly seemed to convince Jackie that this place was great. Quaint? That was another word for boring! And she had had her own room too back at the city. She didn’t even bother to answer her mother and only rolled her eyes.

Her mother frowned slightly. “Listen…I know you upset about the move, but please just try to look on the bright side.” Still not getting an answer from her daughter she said “Let’s go inside. You might like it more.” Leading a reluctant Jackie into the house she said “Isn’t it nice in here too?”
Jackie could only frown as she looked around their new home. Once again boring came to mind. There was a dining table with four bland chairs. In front of that was a small TV and in the back of the room was the kitchen. Everything just shoved into one large room. She noticed that several large Vigorath’s were helping to move their things into the house. Once again her mother’s voice cut through her thoughts like a knife.

“The movers Pokémon do all the work of moving us in and cleaning up after. This is so convenient!” Her mother ignored the fact that her daughter was a ball of misery and continued. “Jackie, your room is upstairs. Go check it out dear!”

Making her way to the stairs she saw three doors. The bathroom, her parent’s room and her room. Making her way to her room she walked inside. “Well…it wasn’t that bad. It was bigger than her old room. All this room needed was some new paint. White was so dull. It had her purple rug on the floor, a bed in the corner, her computer in another and her TV and GameCube along the wall. Her father had even gotten her a map of the Hoenn area.

Suddenly her mom burst in, her usual cheery self. “Jackie, how do you like your room?”
Jackie paused and murmured “It’s not that bad…just needs some decorations.”

Once again leaving her alone Jackie sighed in relief. She unpacked some more of her personal things. As she did she pulled out a small Dragonair doll and smiled. She would love to have her own Pokémon. Maybe she would finally get one here! After all they were in the middle of the woods. There were Pokémon everywhere. After checking her E-mail and taking a short nap she reluctantly walked downstairs. She had been avoiding her mother long enough. Walking downstairs she saw her mother sitting in front of the TV.

As soon as she saw Jackie she said “Oh! Jackie, Jackie! Quickly, come quickly!”

Going to see what her mother was so excited about she walked over to the TV where a reporter stood in front of a Pokémon Gym. Her mother smiled proudly. “Look! It’s Petalburg Gym! Maybe your father will be on.” Unfortunately the TV program seemed to be finishing up. Her mother’s face fell as the show ended.

“I think your father was on but we missed him…too bad.” Brightening she said “Oh yes, one of your dad’s friends lives here in town. Professor Birch is his name.”

Jackie perked up slightly. A professor? Maybe he studied Pokémon! Her mother’s next words made her smile.

“He lives right next door, so you should go over there and introduce yourself.” Well, what else was there to do? Deciding it might be slightly interesting she walked outside. She really missed home now more than ever though. Three houses surrounded by trees? The nearest store was in the next town! Seeing the house next to her own in this so called town she walked over and knocked on the door.
A woman with green hair opened the door, smiling at her. Green hair? What the hell? The women smiled kindly and said “Oh, hello. And you are?”

“I’m Jackie, just moved in next door.” She said with a shrug. “Figured I would say hi. Apparently Professor Birch and my father were friends.”

The woman, who she assumed was Birches wife, said “So you’re our new neighbor. We have a son about the same age as you.”

Another kid? Jackie didn’t let herself get too excited. Knowing her luck he would be some fat nerdy kid covered in pimples. As she was thinking she realized the woman was still talking.

“…was so excited about making a new friend. Our son is upstairs, why don’t you go and meet him?” She said with a smile, pointing to the stairs.

Hopefully this guy wouldn’t be too annoying, and where was Birch anyways? Walking up the stairs she saw an open door and walked inside. It was empty and eerily similar to her own room except for the pokeball in the middle of the room. Maybe this kid had his own Pokémon? Curious she walked over to pick it up. Maybe it was something cool. Just before she could touch it though someone ran into the room.

“Hey you! Who are you?” she heard a male voice say. Jerking up, she froze. Did she say fat and pimply? Try lean and handsome! He was tall, slightly tan and had bright white hair. He certainly was easy on the eyes. Suddenly she realized he was impatiently waiting for her to answer. “I’m sorry. Your mom said you were up here and…um…I’m-“

“Jackie.” He said, cutting her off. “Just moved next door right? I’m Brendan.”

She nodded and blushed slightly. “Yeah, how did you know?”

He only chuckled and rolled his eyes. “I saw the moving truck and my mom had been talking about you guys a lot. Apparently our dads are old friends. I was a little surprised though. I didn’t know you were a girl, I thought you might be a guy.”

Jackie blinked when he said that, getting angry. “What the hell is that supposed to mean?”

Brendan only shrugged and walked inside past her. “Well…I just kind of assumed because your dad is a Gym Leader you might be a guy.” He noticed the killer glare she was giving him and realized his mistake. “Um…I mean…so do you have a Pokémon?” He asked, trying to change the subject. “With your dad being a gym leader you must have some cool Pokémon.”

She only scowled and crossed her arms. “No.” she snapped. “You know, you shouldn’t just assume things.”

Brendan paused, unsure of what he should say. After a long tense and uncomfortable moment of silence he asked “So…do you want me to catch you one?”

Jackie was by now seething with rage. “No!” She shouted. “I don’t need help catching one! Maybe I don’t even want one, and if I really wanted one I could go out and catch it myself!”

By now Brendan was looking very nervous. “You know what, I actually have to help me dad….with his research. Why don’t we hang out some other time?” Quickly he pushed out of his room and shut the door in her face, breathing hard. “All women are crazy…” he murmured, shaking his head.

“I heard that!” Jackie shouted from the other side of the door. “The next time I see you I’m going to beat the crap out of you!” Angrily she stormed down the stairs and ran out of the house, ignoring the shocked look on his mothers face. What an asshole! He had made her so mad, thinking she would be a guy and that she couldn’t catch her own Pokémon! She could get her own if she really wanted one! Well, if her mother allowed it. Sighing she walked over to a grassy path that lead into the woods. Maybe some exploring would cool her down.

But just as she walked into the forest she heard a man scream “H-help me!”
