“He’ s confessing!”
Takatori paused in mid-stride. “Confessing? What kind of imbecile do you take me for?”
“He suddenly had a terrible desire to go to a priest and—confess his sins.”
Takatori shook his head in disbelief. “What?”
Persia began wringing his hands behind his back. “He wanted to be cleansed of his former life.” He went closer to his brother. “He says you make him feel…like a virgin.”
Takatori’s eyes widened. “A virgin?”
Persia leaned in, whispering. “You know, touched for the very first time.” He turns and spots the members of Schwartz standing nearby, dressed as waiters.
Shuldig shook his head. “Uh-uh. We don’t dance.”
Farfarello suddenly began dancing, singing at the top of hungsungs. “Like a virgin!”
Nagi tried to fade into the background as Shuldig grabbed Farfarello and dragged him to a halt. “What are you doing?”
Farfarello’s eyes were wild. “God hates dancing.”
“Disgusting,” the German turned and left, dragging the struggling Farfarello behind him and leaving both brothers stunned.
Takatori collected himself and poked his brother in the chest with one finger. “This better not be another on you your games, brother. I’m counting on Aya being mine, and I don’t want anyone else touching him.”
“I assure you, brother, that nothing is going wrong,” Persia intoned smoothly, slicking back his hair with his hands.
“Perhaps you need to remind him that his sister is in mnds.nds. Warn him of what will happen should he fail to please me.”
“I will, I promise.”
“Good.” Takatori turned and entered the bedroom, slamming the doors shut behind him.
Present:
Persia’s lies had once again averted disaster. But I was left alone all night, wondering what had become of Aya. Jealousy ran rampant through my soul. I was cursed with visions of the beautiful Aya, wrapped in Takatori’s hands. I didn’t sleep at all that night.
The next morning Aya returned to my room, looking even paler than usual. He immediately went to the bed and reclined there, professing that he had been sick in the night and unable to visit me. I should have seen the signs, should have known that he spoke the truth, but my jealousy got the better of me, and I would not listen…
