Carefully, making sure not to upset the balance here and not upset any undead pokemon, Angel trod up the stairs and along the corridor of Lavender Tower in search of the Gym leader. They\'d only been side tracked by a few hours, but even so, she was terribly worried about Misty. She\'d just lost a pokemon in the most ugly of ways; poor girl. Gary, however, she wasn\'t too sure about him yet. He didn\'t look like he was feeling much of anything. She knew he\'d always internalized everything, but even now he wasn\'t showing any emotion.

"Gary, what\'s going through your head?" she questioned, glancing over her shoulder as they ascended the third flight of stairs.

"Hmm?" he replied, glancing up, as though she\'d broken him out of a trance. "I\'m...Worried about my pokemon. Wondering where they are, what\'s being done to them, why Team Rocket wanted them so badly. I miss them, but I don\'t know where they are or when they\'ll be mine again. I think, that\'s a worse fate than losing your pokemon to death - you know where they are, what happened, and you have closure to heal and get over it. I don\'t have any of that, and I might not even if we take down the big guy himself. The only one original pokemon I have left is my Eevee back at level 23 or something. I can\'t take on boss rocket with that!..."

"Gary..." Angel replied, stopping on the fifth stairwell\'s top to turn and rest her arms on his shoulders. "We\'ll get your pokemon back, if nothing else. Moonlight will help you. I will help you. Okay?"

"Help. What kind of elite four Champion needs HELP?"

"The humble kind." She replied, then kept on walking. Gary bit his lip before his tongue got him in worse trouble. He wished she wasn\'t right; but she was. He couldn\'t do this without her. He couldn\'t to begin with. His need to protect her was overridden by his duty. He knew he would hate himself and the league if anything happened to her. But, he couldn\'t turn back - not now. Not while -

"HELP! OH GOD, HEEEEEELP!" screamed an unfamiliar voice from the final floor. Angel and Gary both turned towards the stairs at the same time, and dashed off towards the heeding call. Moonlight, whom had been trailing behind looking at all the tombstones and Gastly\'s that were floating around, ran ahead of them with his fur bristling. Something evil was up there; something so evil it made his fur stand up on end. He\'d managed to get atop the stairs and into the seventh and final floor before either of them had a chance to even reach the stairs. So much for a speed hindering nature.

"BREON! UM!!!" his voice called down the stairs, as he backed away slowly, shivering. This was not a good sign, Angel noted, as she cleared the final stair. But what she found was not what she expected; not some large scary pokemon from out of the horror books. Not some slimy Arbok or three. No; there, standing with arms behind his back, short, and dressed in all black, was a man. Two men were standing in the shadows, but all one could see was their eyes, staring at one another. Behind the creepy man facing the other way, were a pair of Mr Mime\'s. The pokemon were forming up some kind of translucent barrier; if the lighting was better, she would be able to see what was behind them, but, only the one light was on, the one over this man. As Angel walked closer to see better, Gary had yanked her back. She opened her mouth the shout and chastize him, but his hand clamped over her mouth.

"Angel do you want to get us killed?" he whispered, in an angry voice. "That\'s Giovanni! Why the hell is he in pokemon..." he trailed off, as Moonlight slunk down beside him. Giovanni was turning his head. All the recognition they received was a glance over the shoulder.

"Come...." the haunting voice spoke out, as if it were a breath of pure darkness. Gary started to back down the stairs, looking rather to the untrained eye like he was kidnapping Angel.

"Breeon?" Moonlight murred, as a shadowy pair of people blocked the stairs. Henchmen, Gary mused, as they drew closer, forcing him up the stairs.

"I said. Come..." the man spoke again. Moonlight stuck close to her trainer, whom had been released by Gary. No sense holding her back, not now. This was not how meeting the boss was supposed to go, Gary frowned.

"What do you want with us, sir?" Angel replied. Oh her sweet innocence, Gary mused. She really had no clue.

"Ahh, the champion, and she who tamed his cock. Want? I wanted nothing of you two...It was not you nor your pokemon that we wanted," Giovanni spoke, referring more to Gary in the latter half. "It was nothing to do with you. Your lover there managed to interrupt us as we were pulling a mission off." Angel\'s mind flew back to the memories of Pallat Town. She\'d almost completely forgotten about it. "That man your pokemon killed - he was not a seasoned man. He was a moron, of which we are grateful your little illegal small-balled pokemon killed. You had nothing to do with our cause..."

Gary blinked. They\'d been told their mission was nothing more than a distraction at Pallat town, and a lure for him to come for them to steal his pokemon. But something in fact rang true; why would they need a sniper to kidnap a bunch of pokemon? Why had they needed a sniper to kidnap Angel? They didn\'t.

"Then why the sniper?" Gary spoke out, finally gathering enough guts to stand just outside the spotlight, not a few feet from Giovanni, where Angel was already standing.

"Isn\'t it as clear as a summer\'s sky, boy?" he replied, raising his hand. The two Mr Mime\'s who were feeding the barriers stopped. The translucent glass-like sheets faded away, and to their horror, there bound a smidgen on the tight side, was Misty, Brock, Professor Oak, and Serge. None of them were conscious; they seemed either out cold, or...worse.

"My goal, if it is not obvious, is not of your concern - for now." Angel frowned, then got an idea. She shot Gary a "trust me" look, and then took a step forward.

"Sir - if you forgive me for saying, we\'re quite impressed by your gains, and have seen the light - please, let us join you...."

"WHAT?!" exclaimed Gary. Obviously, he\'d either misread her expression, or hadn\'t cared. For once, Giovanni was surprised, though it never showed on his face. He glanced over his shoulder, a brow raised.

"It is clear to me that your friend is not altogether on board with your plea, miss. But if you are to join alone without a male by your side, you would be eaten alive. The only chance you have in this team is being an Admin - if you can defeat my Pokemon, one on one, then I will allow you to become a Rocket Admin. But if you lose girl, I own you...Sounds fair?" he replied, a sleek, knowing grin on his face. Angel, in all her innocence, knew no better. Before Gary could even open his mouth to tell her no, Angel had already exclaimed a "You\'re on."

"God help..." Gary muttered, his breath as light as his head. If she lost, they were screwed. If she won, you guessed it, they were screwed. What the hell was she thinking? Giovanni would whisk them off to the headquaters in no time, and - he paused. Bloody hell, she was a genius.

"GO, MOONLIGHT!" Angel exclaimed. The Umbreon had since stopped shivering, and now dashed out into the playing field before them. Silently, Giovanni tossed out his yellow, black, and white pokeball. A large seven foot horned pokemon stood before her. Umbreon looked rather small aside this mass of brown flesh. Quickly, Angel pressed the little white button on her Scanner.

"SCANNING. Skipping previously scanned pokemon and contained pokemon. The following pokemon are present: Kangaskhan. Male. This pokemon is of level 45 with an Adamant Nature and the following moves: Crush Claw, Counter, Dynamicpunch, and Mega Punch."

"Oh fuck..." Gary muttered, pressing his palm to his forehead. "Angel, you idiot..." But, she ignored him. Even if she was dwarfed in almost every facet as well as over ten levels, she didn\'t care - she had faith in her little Umbreon. Gary, however, wasn\'t so sure. "We\'re so screwed..."

"Breon!"

"Well miss, what will it be? Will you attack, or will you forefit? You can see the chance of winning..."
