Epilogue
Yes!!! I'm back from the dead!!! Oh my where have I been. Drowning in work, moving back into my old house, which has finally been rebuilt after the fire. I was also feeling really bad about myself and quitting my job. But now things are starting to look up as I'm back with even more enthusiasm than before. Now enough about me and on to my story, this will be a really sweet short ending. I hope you've all enjoyed the ride thus far. I may not be coming up with another Ouran fic so soon since I still have yet to finish some of the other works I have. But thanks for all the reviews. Good and bad, it's helped me to improve and I hope that I can continue providing better reads in the future. Thanks again.

Epilogue
I looked at the faces around me. It was good to see everyone again and that little had changed since our days in high school. Hikaru was downing his second beer now and Tamaki has just finished his toast as well. I, on the other hand sat around edgily, wondering what I would say to her when I finally met her.
It had be 3 years now since Haruhi had left to pursue her dreams of being a lawyer. I wondered about her life at the new school and what it must have been like for her to be alone in a new country, working her way into Harvard Law school. Then I remembered the words Kyouya spoke the day we found out she had left, “If I hadn’t done what I did, the whole lot of you would have given up on what you most desired,” I realized the weight of the truth. Plus if Kyouya hadn’t tapped on those connections, there was little chance a student like Haruhi could’ve made her own way into that prestigious place.
In any case, even if years had passed I still remember the guilt, the pain she had went through and the anger amidst the clash, and though Hikaru and I now seemed soul-bound, I still had occasional doubts whenever he chatted with her online or replied her letters.
“Hey! Kaoru, no spacing out now! Cheers! This one’s for you and your brother’s successes and the ‘High Kourt’ label!!! Kanpai!!!” Hani shouted from across me. I chuckled at his enthusiasm and met his mug with mine.
Indeed our successes were worth celebrating. Right after finishing high school, Hikaru and I had ventured into our own clothing label, sponsored by our dear mother of course. Though we had some rough times during the first years, we worked hard at it and finally turned our coveted “High Kourt” brand into a trend-setter.
Having downed that glass with Hani, once again my attention returned to the group. I looked at Tamaki, who was now a successful businessman backed by a strong financial partner in the form of Kyouya’s assets. Meanwhile, Hani and Mori had setup several toy stores and a chain of confectionary outlets. We all had achieved our hearts’ desires and all because Kyouya had forcefully severed the ties that needed to be severed and forged bonds for the ones that needed to be bound. Though risky, I realized that that intelligent devil was the only one amongst us level-headed enough to do it. If Haruhi didn’t detach herself from us, she’d have given up on her dreams and if I didn’t own up to my love, I’d have betrayed myself and Hikaru. We could have still been a miserable bunch today and worse, I would have lost both a good friend and the love of my life altogether.
“Hi EVERYBODY!!!!” a bright voice called from the pub’s door.
“Haruhi!” Tamaki was the first to rush out but stopped short at the sight of an unknown individual.
“Alright, before we get into the festivities, let me introduce my fiancé, Geoffrey.”
There was a brief silence, and then, everyone including Hikaru rang out in cheers. It was then I realized my worries were all for nothing.
“Kaoru, it’s good to see you again.” She smiled at me.
Returning hers with a warm smile, I said, “Welcome home.”
Whilst the festivities continued on, a new epiphany dawned on me. I realized that we all had different roads to take in life; long ones, short ones, sometimes they were windy, and at luckier times they were straight. Then once in a while, you’re faced with a forked path and in those times, one should cast away their fears of the future, since no one can predict what those roads will lead to anyway. But then again, I was lucky. I had someone to give me a little push towards the right direction.
I looked across the table at Kyouya and smiled knowingly. He winked in reply.
