Rain
Chapter 15: Regrets
It was raining. These days it always seemed to be raining. The gods always seemed to be mocking him with rain. The symbol of what he didn’t have. The sy of of that storm eyed goddess that haunted his every thought. Slowly, he turned from the window, letting the sound of the weeping sky be the only indicator of his failure. Why had he failed? What was he lacking that Spike and his partner possessed. Obviously, it wasn’t money. Bounty hunting was not a job for the wealthy. It couldn’t have been for love. She could never love that street trash that he had one dared to call friend.
“You’re brooding,” a sedate, feminine voice stated.
Vicious stiffened. How the hell she managed to sneak up on him, every time, was an eternal mystery. “What do you want?”
“Many things.”
Sith stepped forewords, an red eyebrow raised as she stalked across the room, her bare feet whispering softly against the carpet as she approached. He could not deny her beauty and grace. Like a large cat stalking its prey. She was a predator, like himself, a kindred spirit that held the same, if not more, cold determination that he treasured. She stopped at the window, her dark eyes staring out into the grey world outside.
“Specifically?” she asked.
“You know that answer,” he grumbled as he slunk further into the confines of his leather chair. Perhaps if he tried, he could let the comfort take him away, hide him from his feelings. Shield him from his hate for Spike and his infatuation with Rain.
“Why haven’t you just killed him?” she asked.
Vicious rolled his eyes as he sighed and stood, turning to his blood haired shadow. Every night, the same question. Every night, he couldn’t answer. Honestly, he had no answer. Why hadn’t he just killed Spike? Why let the symbol of all that he lost run free to mock him? Why did he let her run to him time and time again? Vicious sighed heavily. He knew the answer, deep down, he knew it. He was punishing himself his his own masochistic way he was trying to atone.
“I heard rumors,” he voice broke through his silent reverie.
Vicious understood. He knew which rumors. “They’re true.”
“You raped her.” It was a statement, not a question.
“Yes.”
“You let her take the brunt of the accusation for Mao’s death.”
“To save her, yes.”
“Save her?” Sith inquired, her voice not changing from it’s usual melody.
“I wanted her to be free from the Dragons, I thought she’d be grateful.” But But she ran to him.”
Vicious nodded.
Sith’s eyes hardened like diamonds as she stepped towards the taller man. Her fist swinging out with almost inhuman speed as she caught him in the jaw, sending him to the floor.
“You’re a fool,” she said as she turned from him before melting into the shadows of the room once again.
Vicious sat on the rug, a splash of crimson on his pale face as he tenderly touched his bruised jaw. He then felt it deep within him. A stirring of all he was feeling, it was building, bubbling inside. Suddenly, he was laughing. ‘Leave it to Sith to reveal the truth.’

It was raining on Ganaymede. The sounds of water pelting the hull of the ship gave a peaceful serenity to the remaining crew onboard. Rain sat in the navigation deck, her hand softly and unconsciously caressing her swollen belly. She wasn’t cut out to be a mother. Hell, she could barely keep her five, misfit roommates to behave themselves at a meal, let alone, raise a child.
‘Well, not alone,’ she corrected herself mentally.
The others had proven to her that she was indeed cared for. Ed was excited about the prospect of a ‘sibling’; although, Rain was concerned when she whipped out a pair of miniature goggles to surf the net with. Faye was now calling the baby ‘lucky’, saying that every time she rubbed Rain’s belly, that the baby was giving her good luck on her gambling. Spike and Jet… now those two were acting weird. Both made it their duty to cater tr evr every need, and although it was much appreciated, it wasn’t always a good idea for the two of them to work together on projects. It had taken them a good two weeks to get the crib put together. Most of that time was spent arguing. Rain sighed as she looked over the watery sea of Ganaymede and smiled. She loved her new life, it was beyond anything that she ever thought was possible for an ex-street trash girl from Mars.
There were things she missed though, parts of that life that were not all that bad. When her life wasn’t so… complicated. Rain sighed as she gazed into the grey skies of Ganaymede. There were places that she missed, people that she longed to see again. Old friends, or at least, as much of a friend as an assassin could have been. She had been her only friend then, her only confidant. She regretted never telling her why. She regretted abandoning her. She had probably screwed things up for her.
“I’m sorry Sith,” she sighed as she stared out into the stormy skies.

Levii: Hi everybody! I\'m here to inform that Sith is a character that will be showing up a bit more in this story. SHe\'s even starring in her own story! But, Sith does not belong to me, she belongs to Natakamani, whom is letting me use her, just as I\'m letting her use Rain in her story. I totally reccomend reading her story. The Character is really coold fod for all you Vicious fans, he\'s going to play a more pivitol role in it. This should also be a warning to ya\'ll that Sith is going to make many appearences in my next chapter, as is Eve, Rain\'s alter ego. Remember to review and ja ne!
