Chapter Fourteen
Warning for this chapter– There may be some angst in this chapter.
I may have to repeat that I don’t have a beta-reader… so some parts may be not as refined as I’d like it to be. Some parts might get a little erratic as I’m kind of fast-forwarding some parts of the storylines from The Movie, Anime and Manga. That aside, I hope that you will continue to enjoy the plot that I’m weaving now.
==================================================
At first, the team thought it would be appropriate for Watari’s body to be sent back to England so that he would be buried alongside his family.
Everyone even talked about how they would take some time off to attend the funeral.
But then L had declined that idea, and said that they would simply cremate his body, and have an half–hour to say a few words about Watari. He felt that the team couldn’t afford to lose too much time on ingvesting deeper into the Kira case. And he would keep the Urn inside Watari’s bedroom in the headquarter building.
Ukita didn’t seem to think that was right at all. He seemed to insist that it was more proper to have Watari’s body lie in his family’s cemetery.
When asked why he felt so strongly about it, Ukita just sighed. He recounted how Watari had saved his life in the Sakura TV festival incident, by warning him on the car radio that some other cops that had arrived on the scene had died. If he had gotten there first before the extra cops arrived to stop the public disturbances, he’d be dead for sure. So Ukita just felt that he owned it to Watari to see that his body would rest in peace.
L just nodded, and told Ukita that one way or other, Watari’s remains would definely find it’s way to his family’s graveyard once all this was over. L even suggested that if he liked, he could come along after the Kira case was over to ensure that. This seemed to placate Ukita then.
And so it was done.
––a few days later–-
Misa’s death had became very public, and she was all over the news. Her fans and the entertainment industry was mourning her death, as seeing they felt that she had been an great star who was rising very fast in the popularity ranks. Some of her CDs had even sold overseas, the news said.
Of course, Most of the team didn’t honestly care about that. Save for Matsuda, who kept on bemoaning how Misa hadn’t really been that ‘evil’, and how she had lightened up everyone’s day…
The only thing everyone found to be truly interesting, inducing L and Light, was the fact that there was a few segments on TV which discussed the kira connection to Misa’s death.
“Please! It’s obvious that she was killed by Kira!! What kind of women her age dies of an heart attack?” one man said on the TV.
And that’s when the female in the TV discussion group spoke up. “Actually, I hate to break it to you… but it’s very possible for even young people to get heart attacks naturally. Besides, It’s an known fact that Misa was an Kira supporter…. She even publicly thanked Kira for killing the murderer who killed her parents. So why would Kira kill somebody who supported him? ”
The man, who was obviously an anti-Kira supporter, laughed. “You’re assuming that Kira’s some rational being who isn’t a mass-murderer! The person who would kill millions everywhere is obviously insane, and thus he’d kill anybody! ”
One of the Kira supporters in the group got upset at this. “ Hold on there! How do you know this so-called ‘heart-attack’ wasn’t some kind of cover-up by the police?? It’s also a known fact that police was seen publicly appending Misa outside her own home and taking her into confinement. Apparently they thought she had connections to Kira, or so the rumor goes! The police could had killed her!! ”
With that, an fight broke out on the TV, and that’s when L turned it off.
“HEY!! I was watching that… ” Matsuda said.
L slightly shook his head, his expression even more morose than ever. “So many people have died…and those people wouldn’t even care about that unless it’s for ratings or if it was one of their own family members. but when an celebrity dies, everyone jumps all over it and speaks about how tragic those celebrities’ deaths were… It’s sickening.”
Light couldn’t help but agree with that, nodding.
Matsuda answered, “ But you also have to admit that it’s pretty amazing how close they got to the truth, even if some of the stuff they’re talking about is way off base… ”
Light sighed. “Come on, let’s get back to work…Aren’t you more concerned with the fact that Kira’s killing has shot up to 150 people a day? That’s ten times his normal rate! ”
Everyone nodded, while Matsuda just gave Light and L an weird look as he got back to the stack of papers that he was supposed to sort though.
L spoke then. “ Now as I was saying before all of this Misa nonsense… over a period of six days, Kira’s been quite busy… And it turned out that he’s been rapidly killing criminals even when Light here was having his little scene with Misa. So this tells us two things:
Number one– Light’s telling the truth about not being Kira, and Kira has been one step ahead of us somehow. He might have controlled Light without having Light realize this. He’s now killing this many people to taunt me… us.
Number Two– Light might be Kira, or he’s working with Kira. nether way, there’s clearly somebody else out there who has an third notebook…”
Light scowled at the fact that L Lawliet still continued to suspect him even after there was ample evidence that he was not kira, but he said nothing about that. Instead he just suggested,
“ Let’s try to create a profile of Kira again based on this new information. Then L here can determine whenever this kira is the same one that we’ve been chasing together for a while now.”
L nodded. “ Yes, that’s a very good idea. ”
Light could only wonder what kind of freak Kira was…
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––-
Mikami Teru were in total bliss.
Not only did he get to delete all the evil people in this world using the power of his god’s notebook, but he was sharing his body with Kira! Who else could get to say that they were sharing a body with GOD?
Everyday ever since he got that death note, he would wake up to hear Kira’s voice in his head. Every day, he killed the scum of the world and Kira would praise him…spurning Mikami on to kill even more.
Every day, he’d do his best to kill as many as he could in an short time…. But every time, he wound up with very cramped hands. It also seemed that he could only do 150 deaths each day before his hand cramps got too bad that he couldn’t write. Even so, he still continued to attempt to beat the record each day… he wanted there to be at least 200 deaths each day until there was no more criminals.
Still, it was worth it.
He felt so fulfilled…to be honest, he never felt like this before, not even when he had won successful cases as an lawyer. And not even when he had stood up to the evil bullies in school as an kid. And who could blame him? All of his dreams were coming true!
And everyday, he was learning new things from Kira as an reward. He learned everything about Misa. She had been on TV plenty of times, so it was no wonder why he thought she had looked familiar. He also learned everything about a young man named Yagami Light, who apparently had been the first host of Kira, but didn’t meet up to standards.
All of this came to him in his mind’s eye, in terms of images, text, voices… and fragmented memories that didn’t belong to him.
He didn’t see Ryku around much anymore expect late at night when mostly everyone was sleeping. Not that he cared about having that “death god” around, Ryku always seemed to rub him the wrong way. Ryku just came off as an total clown, and the only interesting or useful thing he had told him about, was about the shinigami eyes.
He had wanted to do the eye deal to become more useful to Kira. but Kira had stopped him for various reasons. One of the reasons being was that Kira wanted Mikami to live for a long time, so that Kira would continue to reign over Earth and grow more powerful.
Dispointed, he had backed out of the deal. He understood Kira’s reasoning though, and didn’t question him anymore about it.
He just looked forward to the day where he would finally kill L for Kira, so that the two of them would be able to rule the world together without anybody getting in their way. Only then could there be compete deletion of all evil.
Unfounately, Kira didn’t know L’s name at all… so neither did Mikami. so he’d have to figure a way to kill L off, if he could. He’d do his best, in the name of his god!
He snapped out of his musing when Ryku appeared. He couldn’t help but frown slightly upon seeing Ryku.
Ryku looked down at the open death note and whistled when he saw how many there was. “ 150 names again tonight? You’re even more busier than the other humans I know of… Don’t you ever get tired of this?”
“ I’m just taking a break to rest my hands. But it’s YOU I’m wondering about right now. ” Mikami Teru asked.
Ryku leaned over slightly, tilting his head to stare at the bespectacled human. “ eh? You’ve been thinking about me? Hyku, Hyku… I’m flattered. ”
Mikami tried not to let that annoying laugh grate on his nerves, and instead calmly asked: “You’ve been with Light and L most of the time right? It seems that you only come to check up on me once in a while, and only at night when most of the people at that headquarters is most likely asleep. Am I right? ”
Ryku just simply nodded at this, now knowing what Mikami was driving at even though it would be useless for the human to ask him the obvious question.
“I know that Shinigami cannot help out humans unless it truly benefits them in some way, like giving them extra lifespans. However, I can’t help but feel that I need to ask you anyway. Is there a way you could tell me about what goes on in that headquarters? Or at best, can you tell me if Yagami Light discovered L’s true name recently?”
Ryku shook his head, grinning insanely. Man, sometimes humans were so predictable that it was funny. “ Nope, I can’t tell you any of that, sorry.”
Mikami scowled. Man, this Shinigami was so useless!! It was no wonder why his god had referred to Ryku as an “ low-level death god ” once.
Oh well, it didn’t hurt to ask. Still, it would had been helpful to know any of that. He could had used Ryku as an spy, if he had been willing. He wondered if he could bribe Ryku into doing that for apples… that’d be to his benefit, right? But then again, he did say Shinigami didn’t really need to eat at all… the apples were just for pleasure.
And if Yagami Light had discovered L’s true name, then he could had written in his death note to make Light kill L, even if it meant killing Yagami Light too. The only problem with that was the fact that he didn’t have a clear picture of Yagami Light’s face, despite the fact that he knew almost everything about the young man. He supposed that was because the knowledge had came about from an first person viewpoint, instead of in third person.
He smirked to himself. Well… he still had knowledge of where L’s headquarters were at… and what’s more, it was within close traveling distance. So he could watch the headquarters building and see who visited there on a regular basis. So that way he could see Yagami Light’s face if he came out of the building… He’d be able to regonize him easily even without a clear memory of his face. Then knowing his face wouldn’t be such a problem anymore.
He then paused. That wasn’t such a bad plan, actually. The only problem was getting caught. He knew there was cameras everywhere on the inside, but what about outside? Yes, they surely had to have cameras on the outside too to make sure that nobody other than the task force came into the building…
Another factor to consider, they had bedrooms in the building from what he could get out of Yagami Light’s memories VIA Kira. So what if none of them came out for a while, and only had their foods and equipment delivered??
Mikami Teru found himself scowling again. This wasn’t going to be easy at all… looks like he’d have to work harder than normal to prove to God that he was truly worthy of being God’s body host. He didn’t want to end up an Has-been like Yagami Light. Because the very thought of a world where he had been discarded aside by his god, and also losing his ability to punish evildoers were too much for him to bear.
~~~~~~
Kira was so very happy with his host body.
Mikami Teru was way better than Light Yagami, Misa or any other people combined, in his opinion.
Mikami Teru believed in him, and worshiped Kira just as one should do when it came to an god.
And most importantly… he never questioned Kira’s wisdom or desires. All it took was one whispered word, and Mikami would instantly do it. All without even needing to spend any of his energy to control Mikami. Not only that, but Mikami even went one step ahead and came up with clever strategies that would better serve him.
So thanks to his new host body, he was conserving energy and now had almost enough to become one with anybody he choose. When the time came when he had more than enough, he’d be sure to tell Mikami about the bonding process… about becoming an Shinigami.
Then the two of them would never have to worry about what would happen should Mikami die.
And just as Mikami wanted, the two of them would be of two minds and one body…. Forever. The god and his worshiper… there was no greater harmony nor unity that Kira could think of right now.
Everything was so perfect right now… it was just a pity that he hadn’t been found by Mikami instead of Light in the first place.
Oh well, one couldn’t cry over spilt milk, as that human saying went. Right now he would just relax and let his new worshiper/body host do all the work for him. And he was very curious to see what his new body host would do about his L problem without any help from him. He would step in when necessary, of course.
–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
–-Four weeks later–-
Hitoshi Demegawa woke up, and realized that he was late for work.
“Oh crap, only if I was so rich that I didn’t have to work anymore…” He muttered under his breath as he got up. Sometimes he hated working at Sakura TV… especially if it mean that he had to get up in the morning just so that he would wind up at his desk reading an mountain of paperwork.
To be honest, his Job wasn’t all that bad. He was the director of a TV Channel, after all! And that did come with a lot of money if he had an popular TV show on there.
But lately, the only popular TV programs he had was all about Kira. That usually made him an mountain of money, so to speak… but lately the interest had been dwindling thanks to being fresh out of new material. And in turn, the money was dwindling away too.
He mulled over his money problem the whole time he got ready for work, and on his way to work.
He found himself wishing that one of the two Kiras out there would send him something again… just so that he could stir up the dwindling interest. Or maybe even some new staged material by that police team, like they had asked him to help with in that Yotsuba incident. What was that about, honestly? Oh well, not that he really cared, as long as it made him money.
So that was why he was surprised when he found an mysterious package addressed to him on his desk. And soon as he realized what was inside the package, he let out an loud cry of joy and started thanking the gods for granting his wish.
~~~~~
–later that same day, around 4:00 PM-
L had been in a very bad mood lately and even had resorted to his favorite activity, goading Light, as an means to vent his bad mood. In fact, number of fights they had today alone was more than the usual amount they had in the past.
The reason for this? Despite the increased activity by Kira, there was no new clues on discovering Kira’s identity, or even his whereabouts.
“Take what you said back, you bastard!! ” Light roared with anger, as he let another punch flying towards L’s face. L blocked it, and then responded with an flying kick.
Light took this chance to grab L mid-move and actually succeeded in pinning down L. He used all of his body weight against his rival’s body, and smirked when he noted that L wasn’t able to move anymore.
L let out an small sigh, and then said in a monotone tone: “ Well done, Light. Seems that you’re improving to the point where you actually beat me today…”
Light ignored the small compliment, and then purposely and discreetly grind his body against L knowing very well that it would fluster the detective somewhat. His smirk grew wider as he noticed traces of surprise in the dark eyes in reaction to his body grinding.
He then leaned in closer to the older man’s ear, breathing heavily from all that combat. “I won’t let go of you… until you take back what you said 8 minutes ago. That was completely unfair and unfounded. and you know it.”
Matsuda whispered to Mogi, but apparently not too quietly, “You know… from this angle that scene between L and Light looks so wrong, don’t you think? It almost looks like they’re… well, you know. ”
The other members of the team just groaned at Matsuda’s comments, trying not to think too much about whenever L and Light had some sort of attraction to each other.
L just laid flat on the floor, slightly speechless by Light’s new brazen behavior lately. It seemed that Light was showing more and more of his so-called “true self” now that he had been discovered to be an Death Note user. This only seemed to deepen the suspicions from the other members, save for L. He just knew somehow this was not like Light at all, even if he claimed that he was just showing his “ true colors ” now. It seemed that the Death Note did really have the power to reduce the normal inhibitions on those who owned the death note. Now that Light apparently had nothing to fear anymore now that he felt that he wasn’t being suspected as Kira, he was becoming more erratic and bold in his behavior, and increasingly forgetting who he used to be before. While this completely fascinated him, it also worried him.
What if he was right all along, that Light was really Kira? All that held him together was L… and if Light was really the one to kill him eventually, what would hold him back? He wasn’t so sure that the others here could… considering that Light didn’t seem to fear or respect the rest as he did him. And what did he start to think in terms of “ If ”? Before he had been 100% certain that Light was Kira the whole time and just kept that from the rest of the team… and now his gut kept on telling him to go the way around now…
He let out a soft Gasp when Light discreetly licked and nibbled at his ears, making sure not to let the others see.
“Very well, Light-kun. I apologize for what I said earlier… I was out of line. ” L muttered, disliking the fact that he had to retract something he said as if he was wrong. He knew he was right, damn it. But if it would get Light off him…
Light seemed satisfied with this, and got off him as he continued to smirk at the detective. He then went back to work as nothing happened. L just glared at him with all of the intensity that he could muster. Ever since Light found out the true nature of L’s feelings towards him, all he ever did with it was to use it to get his way.. Like just now.
Oh yes, Light was one sneaky, manipulative bastard, Kira or no Kira.
That was what he liked about Light, actually…even if it intuated the hell out of him. He just wished that Light wasn’t so… public… about teasing him in this manner.
“ Hey, everyone!! ” Matsuda cried out. “Seems that Sakura TV is up to it’s old tricks again! ”
Everyone turned their attention to the giant TV screen, and on screen, was a man that they were all too familiar with for their own liking.
Hitoshi Demegawa was dressed in some kind of white robe, and he seemed to be delirious with joy.
He announced in a clear, loud voice: “Welcome to Kira’s Kingdom! And I’m Demegawa, the spokesman chosen by Kira himself. I’m here to spread his word, and to invite you to become the followers of a new world. But why take my word for it? That’s why I’m going to give you video and audio evidence… play it, guy!”
“What the heck is this crap??” Light blurted out in disbelief.
With that, the all too-familiar Gothic letters popped up on screen which read “ KIRA ”.
“I am Kira.” The mechanized voice said, “As you all know, I intend to purge this world of evil so that the pure humans of this world can live in peace without fear of criminals existing in their midst. To prove that I am the real deal, I’ll show you the names of many who are set to die in the next few minutes… ”
As the Kira on screen ticked off the names, The task team was frantically looking though the other channels on a separate TV and though the database to see if everyone that Kira had listed had truly died.
Ryku just started chuckling, at this entertaining turn of events. He floated in the air, postured as if he was an kid lying on the floor watching TV.
Sure enough, as the Kira predicted, every single one of them died…
L just stared at the big TV screen, his eyes narrowing.
“Now on to the second order of business.” Kira continued, “Regarding L, who has blatantly opposed my ideals in public. Now I have been tolerant of his investigations on this matter long enough. But even my patience can only last so long. I know where L and his team is located, and I’ve been watching them for a while. Now, my faithful ones, it’s time for you to prove to the world that this kind of hearsay against me won’t be tolerated! It’s time for L and his team to be dragged out from their hiding place!”
“WHAT??” Everyone gasped at this. Both Ukita and Mogi looked at Light.
“Don’t look at me, I wouldn’t do something like this!” Light yelled.
“He’s got to be bluffing…” Matsuda thought out loud.
However, everyone’s true fears were fulfilled as an video feed of their headquarters building came on screen.
From the angle of the camera feed, it appeared to be coming from an overhead helicopter. And below the building, there was a huge mob forming outside the building.
Demegawa’s giddy voice came on, narrating the event taking place on the TV screen. As the camera zoomed in on the rioting mob trying to break into the building, he spoke: “Too long we Kira followers have suffered under the scornful stares of self-righteous idiots who knew nothing of the constant suffering caused towards us by the evil scum of the world! It’s time that the world knows that we demand for our right to exist in a world without evil people, without crime! L, come out!”
“I see… so that’s what Kira’s up to.” L replied calmly.
“How can you be so calm about this? We’ve got to escape somehow, before that crazy mob breaks in and gets to us! ” Matsuda cried out.
“There’s no reason for alarm regarding the mob. I had this building built with bulletproof glass, and on top of it I’ve actived the building‘s security lockdown. It’ll be a very long time before the Mob manages to break in, if they can manage to break though…”
“Even if we’re more safe in here at the moment, what about the fact that Kira somehow knew where we were? He said that he had been watching our movements for a while! Did that mean that he was watching me too… from the start?” Light asked, with an disturbed expression.
L nodded. “Yes, that is the part that disturbs me the most too. However, I’m 120% sure that this Kira hasn’t seen every one of our faces and certainly doesn’t know my true name. Otherwise, why demand that his ‘followers’ drag us out publicly in live broadcast TV? ”
That seemed to calm down some of the team members, even though the anxiety was still there.
“Still, I don’t think we should stay here anymore… ” Mogi said, “Especially now that the address of our headquarters have been exposed to the whole world. Even if Kira can’t get into here, it would disrupt our investigation, not to mention the weekly deliveries of equipment, food and other necessitates.”
L nodded. “ I agree. We’ll have to make some sort of diversion and escape to the backup headquarters.”
“Backup headquarters?” Matsuda gaped. “ You mean to tell me that you built another building like this one in case something like this would happen?!”
Everyone, even Light, couldn’t help but be silently awed that L had even thought to do that, and actually had the resources to do so.
L said nothing, and just stood up to go over to the main large computer to type in something.
After a few moments, he finally told everyone: “ I’ve sent everything over to the computers at my backup headquarters, and also deployed some people who’s now coming to help us. I’ve as of now, I’ve erased every trace of us here… and it’s time to suit up. ”
“ Suit up? ” Ukita asked.
Light then looked at the TV where the police swat team was now out in full force to control the riots. “ I see… you want us to dress up like those policemen so that we’ll blend in? ”
L simply nodded.
–––––––––––––––––––––-
It wasn’t easy sneaking out, even in disguise… but somehow they managed to do so, without any damage done.
And now everyone was in the new headquarters, which was… different.
Everyone had been surprised (and not in a good way) when they came up towards the entrance of a very old, dirty looking building. Even Matsuda had commented that it didn’t look like such an secure location…
But then everyone was pleasantly surprised once they learned that the building was just an front, and that there was actually large underground complex rooms under the building.
“This headquarters can withstand anything… nuclear acyoplse, Earthquakes, and everything else you can possibly imagine. If it was difficult for that mob to get into my old headquarters, it’ll be completely impossible for them to get into this one. ”
The thought on everyone but L’s mind was basically along those lines: “ Jeez, leave it to L to think of something like this… ”
––––––––––––––––––-
Mikami Teru was angry.
How was he supposed to know that all of the glass in the building was bulletproof so that those mobs couldn’t break into the building and drag the men out?!
And how was he supposed to know that L’s crew would come out the backdoor suited up in black helmets, and swat outfits so that he wouldn’t be able to see any of their faces??
He thought he had planned out for every possible outcome, but yet somehow some of those small details that had seemed so unimportant threw him off. Oh yes… this would be an lesson to himself to pay more attention to those tiny details next time. He couldn’t afford any more mistakes…
He even felt like taking it off on Dewegawa, but he calmed down before he did anything rash. It wasn’t the fault of that guy, even if he was simple-minded. He had played his part very well, and had successfully summoned up plenty of people to carry out his plan.
Mikami Teru then bent over his desk, his forehead pressing against the skin of the white death note. Tears almost came to his eyes, as he deeply apologized to his god for making such a horrible mistake. He swore heavily that he would do his best never to make such unslightly mistakes ever again.
‘It’s alright…’ Kira’s voice cooed at him, ‘Even if we don’t know where they’re staying at anymore, There’s other ways to see Light’s face isn’t there? Don’t tell me that you’re so weak that you’d give up after such an attempt?‘
Mikami Teru really started to tear up then. “Oh god…you’re so kind to me. You’re so wonderful…”
He then smiled. Well, His god was right. Even if he didn’t get to see everyone’s faces, at least he had stirred up things to the point where L now officially knew that he was now returning the favor for waging an war against Mikami’s god!
‘That’s the right spirit, my sweet. And by now L must be in an total stupor over the fact that we knew his location…’
Mikami and Kiraomi started laughing simultaneously over the thought of the whole task force team running around like headless chickens.
Now that he was properly cheered up, he would just move on to plan B.
===================================================================
Hmm. In some ways, I’m not so happy with this chapter. Oh well.
I kind of rushed some parts since I was having my birthday at the times I wrote those parts… and I wanted to do something productive before I left for my birthday dinner. (on the 16th that is).
Yeah I know that the producer of Sakura TV didn’t host that TV show until Light was an adult and not until America’s president had announced that they wouldn’t stand in Kira’s way.
But the way I figure it, He’d probably do it earlier if somebody, namely Kira, gave him that idea. He strikes me as the sort who’d do anything for money… Especially if Kira promised an reward.
And Mikami has always struck me as an brilliant, yet stoic guy who just happened to be an fanatic. He’s certainly not stupid at all. So I figured that he’d come up with that Tactic that Light used against Near at one point.
I’m just mixing things up a little bit. :)
Review whenever you’d like to. :)

~~~~~~
Kira was so very happy with his host body.
Mikami Teru was way better than Light Yagami, Misa or any other people combined, in his opinion.
Mikami Teru believed in him, and worshiped Kira just as one should do when it came to an god.
And most importantly… he never questioned Kira’s wisdom or desires. All it took was one whispered word, and Mikami would instantly do it. All without even needing to spend any of his energy to control Mikami. Not only that, but Mikami even went one step ahead and came up with clever strategies that would better serve him.
So thanks to his new host body, he was conserving energy and now had almost enough to become one with anybody he choose. When the time came when he had more than enough, he’d be sure to tell Mikami about the bonding process… about becoming an Shinigami.
Then the two of them would never have to worry about what would happen should Mikami die.
And just as Mikami wanted, the two of them would be of two minds and one body…. Forever. The god and his worshiper… there was no greater harmony nor unity that Kira could think of right now.
Everything was so perfect right now… it was just a pity that he hadn’t been found by Mikami instead of Light in the first place.
Oh well, one couldn’t cry over spilt milk, as that human saying went. Right now he would just relax and let his new worshiper/body host do all the work for him. And he was very curious to see what his new body host would do about his L problem without any help from him. He would step in when necessary, of course.
–-Four weeks later–-
Hitoshi Demegawa woke up, and realized that he was late for work.
“Oh crap, only if I was so rich that I didn’t have to work anymore…” He muttered under his breath as he got up. Sometimes he hated working at Sakura TV… especially if it mean that he had to get up in the morning just so that he would wind up at his desk reading an mountain of paperwork.
To be honest, his Job wasn’t all that bad. He was the director of a TV Channel, after all! And that did come with a lot of money if he had an popular TV show on there.
But lately, the only popular TV programs he had was all about Kira. That usually made him an mountain of money, so to speak… but lately the interest had been dwindling thanks to being fresh out of new material. And in turn, the money was dwindling away too.
He mulled over his money problem the whole time he got ready for work, and on his way to work.
He found himself wishing that one of the two Kiras out there would send him something again… just so that he could stir up the dwindling interest. Or maybe even some new staged material by that police team, like they had asked him to help with in that Yotsuba incident. What was that about, honestly? Oh well, not that he really cared, as long as it made him money.
So that was why he was surprised when he found an mysterious package addressed to him on his desk. And soon as he realized what was inside the package, he let out an loud cry of joy and started thanking the gods for granting his wish.
~~~~~
===================================================================
