Special #2: Together

Note: This was completely out of nowhere.
As I was heading to sleep for tomorrow's present opening and whatnot (my family celebrates Christmas, it varies I suppose), I felt the need to write a short little something. I hope you readers enjoy it.

It doesn't need or require feedback. It just felt like a small segment that I wanted in, and it IS my story, so why not?

This Special #2 has NOTHING to do with the actual continuity of Ragnarok, and does NOT take place in the actual storyline. While it does involve current characters, that's as far as it goes in terms of accuracy to the main story.

Brief, and slightly under 1K, it's Special #2. Enjoy the read!!

Window panes stood firm as a gentle breeze blew from the North, carrying a chill that continued to travel southward toward Noah's old home back in Twinleaf. He sat comfortably on a tender recliner, his body nestled snug in between the material as he watched his friends frolic in front of him.

Luna, Koko, Soki, and Rei were all enjoying the large Douglas Fir towering overhead, a near fireworks worthy display of primary and secondary colors flashing on and off like the hundreds of Volbeat and Illumise now fluttering in the current outside, searching for mates in a waltz-like dance. Jerry and Lynus sat on a larger couch to his right, a blanket large enough to drape over the two of them. Skai stood firmly behind Jerry, ready to pounce at any sign of harm to Lynus' well being.

An aged clock ticked to Noah's left, nailed to the wall of the condominium Jerry and Noah had reserved for the weekend. The clock tocked to the rhythm of Noah's heart as he stared off beyond the glass, watching as flakes of snow gently placed themselves atop the mounds of snow that had built up around the building. None of them, himself included, seemed to care that they could potentially be blocked in by the oncoming blizzard.

The warning of the storm didn't damper their holiday spirits. Underneath the tree, presents, one for each and every creature currently occupying the condo. The clocks hands inched ever so closely to the large, bolded twelve that reigned over the frail, smaller numbers below and to its sides. Koko would double take with every quick glance at the old machine, waiting impatiently for the bell toll.

Jerry's Monferno took a seat with the rest of the team, while his Larvitar and Mismagius slept on the other end of the large den. Rei and Koko kept themselves occupied by batting Koko's jaw to one another in a somewhat bizarre alteration of kickball, Koko constantly tripping over her own appendage. Soki stood near them, cheering one or the other one whenever they managed to kick Koko's heavy jaw more than two inches off the ground, while Luna and Monferno talked amongst themselves.

"So...let me see if I have this right," Luna continued, "Each of us gets one, right?"

Monferno sighed and nodded. "Yes, one present per person or Pokemon. That's how it goes."

Luna tried to process the information, tapping her closed mouth with her jaw. "So...one present means...one of those boxes, right?"

"...right."

"Two boxes can't be one present, right?"

"They can, but these aren't?"

"Ah," Luna smirked, "but how can we be so sure of that?"

"They...have our names written on them..."

Luna quickly looked over at the boxes. She saw scribbles on them, but to her, they were nothing more than gibberish from a kitten. "I don't see them."

Monferno grabbed her arm in frustration, and pulled her to the presents. He grabbed one, and pointed at the marked name. "You see this?"

"Yeeeess."

"You know what this is?"

"A box."

"It's a box, but it's also a present. A. Single. Present. To a single person. Everyone gets ONE. Get it?"

Luna thought it over.

"Just one, right?"

The flame on Monferno's tail grew larger. "You're doing this on purpose. I swear to Arceus you're doing this to piss me off."

Luna waived her arms in front of her as if trying to apologize. "No I'm not! I'm just a little confused. I've never done anything like THIS before," she said, presenting the tree with her opened arms.

Noah looked over to Jerry and Lyn. Jerry was telling her another story of his adventures for those three years he had locked himself away from the outside world. He kept tuning into several whenever Jerry had the time to share them. Jerry had led such a vast, adventurous life; Noah couldn't help but be envious.

At the same time, he couldn't be bothered with those thoughts too much, nor with any thoughts about his own journey with Luna. This moment, here, with an impending storm approaching from the outside, was for him, and him alone. Right now, not even the box labeled with his own name could compete with what his eyes feasted upon. The Pokemon, all cooperative and enjoying themselves, save for Monferno (who seemed ready to erupt at any time as a result of Luna's near blind, blissful ignorance); Jerry, his closest friend; Lynus, the charming young lady he had met near Jubilife; and Luna, the one he was connected to through their everything: mind, body, and spirit. It compensated for all those years of loneliness and sad nights...

A gentle smile took its spot on his face.

Noah couldn't help but be overwhelmed with the warmth that enveloped and nurtured his body from the harsh elements pounding at the door. He quickly turned away when he felt a tear form at the corner of his eye, wiping his arm across his face to conceal himself. No one seemed to take notice.

Except for Luna.

Dooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng

Koko squealed, her jaw lifted nearly straight into the air as she and Rei nearly kicked their bodies off of the tile flooring in the condo. Jerry, Lyn, and Skai made their way to the tree, still wrapped together in the blanket, Lynus chuckling as Jerry reached out for her present.

The Pokemon all gathered and huddled on the other end, leaving a single, open spot for Noah.

He stretched with a grin, and took his spot on the floor, taking in the sight of his friends, Pokemon and human, enjoying their first.

As a family.
