Mewtwo and the Answer that makes more Questions

Psy: That is what happens when you bug me for chapters and I have no time.

----------------

Angel stood there, sharing the same reverent yet fearful expression with Gary and Moonlight. She’d hear all about this Pokemon through myth and news stories, and obviously, so had the other two. He floated there, suspended almost dead looking in the green goopy looking liquid, his eyes tight shut as his form held the fetal position. The purple fur that his skin held was not unlike that of the pink of Mew, but this one was harder fleshed. He had cords and wires stuck all over his body, monitoring and restraining the marvellous pokemon.

“Amazing, isn’t he?” a man in a white coat spoke, stepping over from the darkness. His dusty blonde hair lay clean and tidy, but the color was one that always looked messy and greasy. He still wore the same style glasses he’d had since 1980 whatever, before his cloudy eyes which seemed to have every color and yet none. His was the face that of someone if he told you he was 25 or 50, you’d believe him.

“Yes.”

“It is a shame he must be killed...” the man spoke, pulling a syringe from his pocket.

“Wait.” Angel spoke, raising a hand. “Hold on. I want to speak with this pokemon. Alone.”

“WHAT!? The scientist exclaimed, dropping the syringe in his hand out of shock. “He’ll kill you!”

“Then I suppose that’s my problem then, isn’t it? I wouldn’t recommend disobeying me, the last rocket I had to punish isn’t having much fun right now. I suspect a throng of pokemon are beating her to a pulp right now. Just be sure to seal us in, and we’ll be the only ones dead.”

“But!...Yes ma’am. Let’s have it on the record that I am directly disobeying Giovanni on YOUR orders?” he spoke, rhetorically, as he walked to the door. “Your phone, if you press the red button on the front, that is an emergency panic button. We’ll receive the signal, and know you need emergency help. That is, if Mewtwo lets you have a moment of movement....God be with you.” He spoke, letting himself out. Shortly thereafter, a line of metal flowed from the back of the room, surrounding them in a ten by ten foot little cubicle. She could hear a whooshing sound from behind the metal wall, but couldn’t tell what it was. Moonlight’s fur stood on end, as he stared at Mewtwo.

*Queue Lady Gaga – Poker Face*

The lights rose, making every inch of the room very visible. The green liquid began to drain from the vat, and Mewtwo was left in a full upright six foot seven stance. His hands lay limp at either side, as did his massive tail. Just as soon as the green goop drained out, the vat was filled with a burst of baby-blue toned gas, and just as quickly it dispursed. Moonlight let out a faint growl, and backed up as far as he could go without being pinned against the metal wall, which was starting to turn a faint green color. He sniffed at it, curiously. Poison. Acid, to be exact. It wouldn’t burn the metal, which seemed to his nose to be nanocarbon, but it would kill them all if they tried to break out. They were trapped.

A few seconds passed, as Angel pressed her hand on the glass of the vat. This was likely the most powerful pokemon on the planet, and here he was, standing before her. She couldn’t help but feel reverent. Then, the wires and ropes suddenly flew off of him, and pressed hard against the wall behind. Angel put the other hand on the glass, as Gary, stolen of words, moved back to stand beside Moonlight. He would growl too, if he were a pokemon. Something felt very evil. But, the pokemon didn’t move. He just stood there. Angel blinked, and pressed her forehead on the glass, as if trying to listen for a heartbeat.

“Are you dead already?” she spoke, staring up at the closed eyes of Mewtwo. “Wake up...” her sunken voice told him. She really didn’t want this marvellous demigod to be dead.

~SET ME FREE.~ his loud, almost too loud psychic voice boomed within their heads. Gary’s mouth opened a bit, as Moonlight flattened his ears to his head – as if it was going to help.

“I don’t think I’m allowed...” she replied, frowning softly.

~LEAVING THIS ROOM MEANS DEATH. I WILL NOT KILL YOU. SET ME FREE.~

Glancing down, she spotted a button amongst the manual controls on the vat, and saw one that read “Tank Glass”. As told, she pressed it, and the glass began to slide downwards. She stepped back as well this time, and gave the pokemon room to move.

“It’s open.” She said. A few seconds of silence passed. Then, his eyes shot open. The brilliant yet calculating and cold purple eyes were staring right at her. Moonlight jumped a little, as did Gary – but all Angel did, was exude a faint “wow”. The emotion that then filled his eyes wasn’t that of anger, wrath, or sadness. No, much to the shock of the three, it was recognition. Mewtwo’s eyes widened as his vision befell the human before him. He raised his index finger, and raised it to her cheek.

~YOU.~ was all he said.

“What about me?...” Angel replied, holding no fear – no, not like Moonlight, who was hunched down, growling softly at the massive pokemon.

~YOU ARE ALIVE...I DID NOT KNOW THIS.~

“What?...” she was thoroughly confused now. Apparently, he knew her – but she couldn’t ever remember meeting this beautiful pokemon.

~I WILL EXPLAIN. SUBMIT YOUR MINDS.~

*End Poker Face, Queue Three Days Grace – Gone Forever*

Angel closed her eyes, as she felt a presence much like the feeling of lint within her head. Then, with her eyes still closed, she could see a room appear. Within it was a child’s room, a bed small enough for maybe a three or four year old to sleep in. It was empty. Then, she could feel herself moving – more like floating – through the darkly lit house, down the main stairs, and through the ajar front door. It was night out. As she floated through the yard, which held many strange looking trees, she could hear a soft cry – a mewing, like a young Persian, or baby Meowth, only smaller. She then spotted the little girl the bed belonged to. She was dressed in Eevee pajamas, and was running towards the mewing.

“What is this?...” Gary muttered, which cut through this vision like a megahorn. Indeed, what were they watching.

The girl stopped short, stopping by a bush. As she floated in view of what the little girl was kneeling down to look at, and spotted a pink mass curled up with a clamp-trap on it’s paw.

“I help.” The little girl spoke, and reached forward. She began to struggle with the clamp, for her little hands weren’t very strong. The pokemon she was helping managed to get a little leeway, and with a great bit of pulling, it managed to get loose – with a few deep cuts to the paw. It flew out from under the bush – it was Mew.

“Thank you, young human. I would not have been free without you!” it spoke, in perfect vocal English.

“Safe now.” The child replied. She was no more than three, maybe three and a half.

“You saved me, so I will give you a gift. You will have Aura; special pokemon will be attracted to you, and regular pokemon will be charmed by you. If anything happens to me, this gift will turn you into a Mew though, so remember me!” the Mew spoke, and kissed her forehead. The child was enveloped in a pink light, which died when the Mew removed his lips. Then, he flew off into the stars, leaving the little girl to wave after him with a smile on her face.

“Bye bye pink pokemon! I won’t forget!” Then, the vision moved her to look at the house. The little girl’s father came running from the house. He looked familiar somehow, but Angel couldn’t place it. He plucked the girl up into his arms, as a female figure stood in the shadows of the doorway.

“How did you get outside, Angel?” the man spoke. Angel gasped outside of the vision, and her lips dropped open. The man was her father! The child was her! “Come on inside, honey. I think we need to get safety handles for you! We can’t have you getting outside in the middle of the night.”

The man turned towards the house, as a white plume of what looked like gas emerged from behind a tall shrub. Then, with no movement, the white plume flew at the two, leaving the woman in the door to scream bloody murder as a ghost-like pokemon with White wafting gas-like hair and a red collar carried away her husband and child.

“ANGEL!” the woman screamed, as a younger version of Angel’s mother ran across the grass after the pokemon. “ANGEEEEEL!!! TONYYYYYY! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!” Far in the sky, the Mew stopped, and spotted the Darkrai fleeing with the child he’d just blessed.

“NO!” he exclaimed, and flew after them – just in time for Darkrai to vanish into a portal. “Damn...This is not good! What would Darkrai want with a human child and her father?...” Just as the Mew stopped to think, something wrapped around him. He squirmed against the bindings, but something jammed into his flesh, and he begun feeling drowsy. “No! I must...fight...must save....Angel....” the Mew passed out, and the pokemon was withdrawn into a large black helicopter, a familiar looking R on the bottom.

The vision cut off, as the helicopter floated away into the horizon.

*End Gone Forever*

~I was then cloned from that Mew....~ Mewtwo explained to their minds, as Angel’s eyes shifted to the current room after the vision. Mewtwo was trying hard not to be so loud. ~But, the memory, one of the few that did stick, was that one. I do not know what happened to you after that; I have been kept in this vat since then. I can see all with my powers, but before you ask me, I did not know who you were, or that you were alive. I do not know how you are alive, or how you were freed from that evil pokemon. ~

If there was no way Mewtwo could remember, there was no sense asking. But now there was a chance her father could be alive, and she could learn what exactly happened to her after that, perhaps, if she did some digging, and found this Darkrai.

“Mewtwo...if you don’t know, you don’t know....but do you at least know what the Aura is that Mew spoke of?”

~Yes. Aura is the soul of Mew. It attracts pokemon that are not normal, be they shiny, or of an irregular soul themselves. Some are apparitions, some are spawn of Arceus, and some are just rare. But, with regular pokemon that you meet, as it is bound to happen, those pokemon are charmed by this aura.~

“Is that why Moonlight and Slaughter came to me?...”

~Yes. Pokemon will come to see you from far and wide and not know why, most of them rare, special, or shiny.~

“Hmm. Then why is Anarchy not listening to me?”

~The Aerodactyl?~ Mewtwo replied, placing a round finger on the ball. He seemed to be focusing on the pokemon within. ~He does not know how. He is harbouring much resentment to humanity, but he wants to listen. He is being swayed by your Aura, and he is confused. His dominant personality does not want to obey so easily, thus the struggle. Keep trying, he will come around. Much patience is needed... But, heed my warning, Angel. Your Moonlight, as you call him. Muzzle his fang and eye, the seeds of darkness have taken root. Without taming, he will grow as Darkrai.~

“Moonlight? He hasn’t done anything evil....” Moonlight thinned his eyes. This pokemon was officially a quack. “But all this isn’t what I am here for...I thank you for the vision, and explanation to how you recognize me, but....The people that did this to you can no longer sedate you, and they want to kill you.”

~I know this. As I said, I can see all. I simply could not act. My body could not be used. However, it is easier if I do not exist.~

“Wait. I don’t want you to die...”

~I know this as well. But I cannot escape. They will not let it be. It is easier that I do not exist.~

Angel frowned. Even Mewtwo thought there was no other way. Surely, there had to be. She thought, and thought hard. She could remember every news story she saw about Mew, but nothing about Mewtwo. No specifics anyway. Wait, that was it!

“I’ve got it! They say Mew can vanish at will, right?” The Mewtwo nodded, looking at her curiously. “If I hide you in a pokeball, and tell them you teleported out, then I can walk out of here with you! I can set you loose outside!”

~You would set me free so quickly? Knowing what I am? What I am capable of?~

“You’re a pokemon, you deserve life like everything else. But you are not a live-in-captivity pokemon. You aren’t one that is to be captured and trained like a Pidgey. Most importantly, you don’t deserve to be a tool of Team Rocket. So, if you trust me, let me capture you long enough to set you free.”

Mewtwo looked down, thinking. This human wasn’t lying, he could sense lying. But whether the other humans would believe her was something he couldn’t read from her mind. The other human, the male, was very confused. He wanted to know why she would set him free. He wanted to know why her heart was so pure and yet so capable of blending in with team rocket. Mewtwo as well wished he knew why the girl wanted to set him free. He could destroy the world in moments, he could kill all humankind, and yet, she knew he wouldn’t. She knew he was the anti-mew, the evil clone, and yet, she trusted him to not commit evil acts. It was as if the bond between her and that Mew was prevalent even in his cloned DNA. Was that possible? Was this human female the one to give him his freedom, after these years of being suspended in this vat? But that wasn’t all to happen. If he was freed, the humans here would hunt him down. He would always be on the run. But, he would still be free. Something he’d never had before. He wouldn’t just know what things looked like in his mind, he would see them. Trees, mountains, grass, plants, other pokemon...he would see, not just know. But it wouldn’t be for long. Soon, he knew she would call him and ask for his help. He knew she would chase her father. But that sample of freedom, was it worth it? He would be his own pokemon...

~Do you believe it will work?...~ Gary stayed silent, unable to say anything. He’d lost all words in the presence of this godlike pokemon. Moonlight didn’t dare step up even if he wanted to – this pokemon would level him in seconds. He’d never felt more useless.

“There’s only one way to find out...” she replied, holding up an empty pokeball. Mewtwo stared at it. Was he ready to belong to a human, be it for a short while? He lifted his eyes, nodding. She had the chance to never set him free and keep him forever, but something told him she wouldn’t.

~Do it.~ Angel nodded, and cast out the ball. Its red beam sucked in the pokemon, and fell to the ground. Unlike with Slaughter, it did not shake, but rather the pokeball’s light flashed by itself as it tried to seal the pokemon. After a moment, the light died, and the ball was finished. Angel plucked it up and put it in the same spot she’d got it from, pushed the button to restore the glass so it didn’t look as though she released him, then picked up her phone.

“Here goes nothing.” She spoke then pressed the little red button. Instantly, a muffled siren was heard from through the wall, coming from a little speaker outside the vat room. The floor below them twisted beneath their feet and turned into a grate, the acid outside flowing down rather hastily. Then, the carbon walls collapsed, and a fleet of twelve Rockets all toting machine guns burst into the room.

“TAKE HIM DOWN, TAKE HIM...” George exclaimed, but trailed off when he failed to see Mewtwo.

“HE VANISHED! HE STARTED TALKING ABOUT KILLING ME AND WHAT HE WANTED TO DO TO ME, BUT THEN HE JUST VANISHED! WHERE THE HELL IS HE?!” Angel replied, pacing as if she were just as panicked as them. “NO ONE TOLD ME MEWTWO COULD TELEPORT!”

“Aw fuck! Giovanni’s gonna kill us then!” George barked, as he relaxed his weapon. “We didn’t know either! ALRIGHT MEN, OUT INTO THE CITY! START A SEARCH GOIN’! HE CAN’T’VE GONE FAR! THIS POKEMON CAN’T GET AWAY!” The group scrambled back out of the room, as George stood, his head shaking. “You realize Giovanni is going to kill us?...”

“I’m not so sure,” Angel replied, crossing her arms over her chest. “Not if we don’t tell him.”

“In case y’didn’t realize, he’s goin’ to notice his pokemon is a little bit missing.”

“I realize that. Just tell him we killed him and call back the teams. I don’t think Mewtwo is stupid enough to make his presence obvious. If anything, he’ll seal himself away and try to remain free and under the radar.”

“I hope for your neck’s sake that you’re right, lady-boss. That order takes the owness straight off me and onto you.” He spoke, shaking his head.

“Well, I’m confident that you have this under control. I’m going to go back on the road again, keep on this gym gauntlet of mine. Call me if you need me, hmm?”

“Will do. I’ll let you know.” The trio strode from the room, Gary even yet silenced from the epic meeting of Mewtwo. Moonlight seemed to be in a state as he trailed along, not daring to eye the pokeball of Mewtwo. He was terribly jealous. Angel kept her cool as she rose up the secret stairs and out into Game Corner. She was seriously home free with Mewtwo. But she wasn’t going to set him free here – not anywhere near here. She had to be in the middle of nowhere. But where could they go?
