She's got soul!

Raw’s deleted review: All I gotta say is back off, and I misread the effect chart for dark types. Couldn’t remember if it was psychic or ghost that causes super effective and misread the chart. So we’ll pretend that it was a fluke. >.>;

Appolla: TY! n_n

Psy: Since when have I ever left it longer than a week? :P

Stepping into the Safari Zone, Angel, with a tired Gary and bored Moonlight trailing behind her, began walking to the same spot she’d passed by six times. She had to cast Mewtwo out when no one else was around, especially since he was who he was. Not that anyone would know who he was; most would probably just think he was an illegal pokemon, like Moonlight was.

“Oh come on Angel, just set him loose. No one will even see him here; we’re so close to the fence we’re almost out of bounds.” Gary frowned, stopping short.

“But what if someone finds him while he’s running? We can’t let him get captured!”

“Angel he’s MEWTWO! Unless he lets them, nothing short of a master ball or about 100 Ultra Balls can catch him, and that’s only if he’s weakened, this isn’t just any legendary, this is THE Mewtwo. He could probably destroy even Arceus.” Angel sighed. Maybe he was right. Perhaps he would be fine to be sent out here. “Even IF someone tried to catch him, he is registered to a pokeball, they CAN’T catch him.”

“I know, I guess I just don’t want Mewtwo to lose his chance at freedom to some pathetic child who doesn’t know what they have. Time to go, Mewtwo!” she spoke, then tossed out the pokeball. Spilling out of the ball in a spiralling formation, Mewtwo landed in a crouch in the tall grasses of the Safari Zone. He stood, and glanced around, an oddly calm look on his face as he stared at the plants and fluttering pokemon nearby.

~THIS. THIS IS FREEDOM.~ he mused, the cold purple eyes shifting around slowly. ~THE POKEBALL – THAT DARK VOID. THAT WAS CAPTIVITY, BUT IT WAS ALSO A SENSE OF FREEDOM. I WAS NO LONGER CUT OFF FROM LIFE, SIMPLY TUCKED AWAY. BUT, THIS, HERE – THIS IS FREEDOM AT IT’S BASE.~

“Yes...” Angel replied, unsure of what else to say. After a pause as Mewtwo stared off at a pair of Rhyhorn charging down the grass, Angel continued. “Yes, it is. These pokemon have life, food, and range. They are kept in a fence to protect them from other wild pokemon, but even so, they’re free. What about you, Mewtwo? Where are you going to go?” The purple fleshed pokemon shifted his eyes to her, the icy, emotionless, yet thinking orbs fixating on her. He hadn’t thought of where; he simply had been to focused on the mere fact that he would be his own pokemon.

~ME?...I...I DO NOT KNOW. I HAD NOT THOUGHT OF THAT. THERE ARE MANY PLACES ON THIS PLANET; KANTO, JOHTO, HOENN...MORE. THERE ARE PLACES WITHOUT HUMANS, PLACES WITH RANGERS, PLACES WITH POKEMON AS STRONG IN LEVEL AS I...THERE ARE MANY PLACES I COULD GO, BUT – I HAVE NO DIRECTION. I DO NOT KNOW WHERE I BELONG.~ Belonging. He needed to belong to a place – somewhere that was ‘home’, somewhere that he could reside without fear of being hunted, of being captured by another human, of being in the grasp of someone evil.

“Belonging is something we’ve all gotta find,” Gary piped up, sitting himself down on a nearby rock. Angel sat herself aside him, and Gary slid an arm around her back, as Moonlight wandered away though the grasses to hunt. “Take a Magmar for example. If a Magmar found itself in an Ice Cave, or even in Viridian Forest, it wouldn’t belong. The only place for a magmar is a volcano. But the moment you put an Oddish in a Volcano, it’ll die. Those pokemon easily know where they belong, but for humans and creatures that have no set habitat, then, it isn’t so easy to find belonging. You’ve been in a vat of goo your entire existence, it’s the only place you’ve known. Belonging won’t just jump on you, it’s gotta be found. I didn’t know where I belonged for years.”

~And where is it that you belong?~ Mewtwo replied softly, his eyes staring thinkingly at the ground.

“I belong right where I am – here with Angel. Outside of that, I don’t know – but I do know that we’re never placed where we don’t belong; there’s always a reason why we’re placed where we are. Sometimes it might not feel like we belong there, and maybe on some level that’s correct, but we always have a purpose, and in that end, we do belong. Most of belonging is based on emotion and how you feel; purpose is based on action and what you do. You following me?” Mewtwo nodded slowly. The human made sense; perhaps what he needed to find was purpose, rather than his place of belonging. The only way to do that was...

~I have made a decision.~ he spoke, after a long pause. He focused on her, and inhaled a deep breath, as if he were going to speak a long vocal speech. ~If belonging is emotion, I do not belong. But, if purpose is action, then I must grasp that. I must keep a purpose. Then, in that sense, I will have belonging without emotion.~

“So, where will you go?” Angel replied. She hadn’t followed a thing either of them said, but she could at least pretend.

~If it is all the same to you, Angel, I would like to travel with you. That will be my purpose. Perhaps it is the Aura that attracts me, but if it is alright, I would like to remain at your side; at least, for now, until I find where I belong.~ Gary and Angel’s mouths fell open. Neither of them had planned on this happening.

“Are you kidding? I would love to have you stay with us! I wanted you to be free, but if this is what you’d rather have, you’re more than welcome to have a spot on my team!”

~That would satisfy me for the time being.~ Angel could hardly believe it. She had no intention of keeping Mewtwo for herself, but it seemed that it was what he wanted. He understood everything being a trainer’s pokemon entailed, but he still seemed to want it.

“Mewtwo, why would you chose this form of freedom if it’s more like Captivity? It’s not much different than being Giovanni’s.”

~It would be very different. You are not evil, and you would not command me to commit any crimes. You would not seal me away like some weapon to be used. I do not believe after being sealed for so long then released into pure freedom would benefit me. That is not unlike being in a fire, then leaping into ice.~

“I see what you mean. Well, you’re welcome to stay with us if that’s what you want.”

~I have thought carefully. It is.~

“Okay. Welcome to the team. I like giving my pokemon nicknames, but giving you one doesn’t seem to give you any justice, does it?”

~Hmm? You may name me if you like. It is not simply ‘Mewtwo’ that I must be known by, unless you wish it so. However, it does add a personal slant to me that may be undesirable should I decide to leave.~

“One wouldn’t go and Catch Arceus and name him Fluffy, would you?...”

~Name him Fury...~ Moonlight muttered to her, as he strode back onto the scene with a rattatta dangling from his jaws. He’d managed to hear the whole conversation; Mewtwo’s psychic voice was loud enough to be heard a ways away.

~There is no need to be jealous.~ Mewtwo replied, glancing down at Moonlight. ~I do not suspect that she is going to let me take the place of you in her heart.~ Moonlight merely snorted, as he dropped his Rattata and began to rip into it.

“Hmm,” Angel thought aloud. She’d missed the little twinge of jealousy, as she was deep in thought. One couldn’t just give a legendary pokemon a nickname, could you? It wasn’t like he was a Meowth that you could call Honey or something. He was one of a kind, a very powerful pokemon. There would be no more Mewtwo’s, unless Giovanni made one, and something told her he wouldn’t. “I’m sort of torn between Savage and Amelio, short form of Ameliorate....” she muttered. Mewtwo’s eyes shifted quickly to her at the second name.

~As in, to make perfect?....~ he did not deserve such a name. He was far from perfect. ~I do not become that name.~

“Bullshit you don’t! The pokedex entry for Mew says that it is the complete amalgamation of all pokemon. You are its clone, and made stronger. Therefore, you are an ameliorate of Mew. I think I like that; Amelio, when we’re in public.” Mewtwo glanced back down again. It was what she chose, but he didn’t agree. He had many angry and violent urges he fought, many evil ideas to keep away from. He was designed to destroy everything, and he’d intended to do so – up until he met her. It was the Aura, no doubt. “Come on, let’s get out of here. I need to train the others, and take down Janine again.” She placed her hand on Mewtwo’s pokeball, but the large purple pokemon stepped back.

~I am going to stay free a while longer.~ Mew spoke. Angel blinked, but decided not to correct him. He was still his own pokemon.

“Here...” Gary spoke, pulling his backpack off his back. “I have an old coat that I don’t use; if you put it on, you won’t be so obvious. Most people don’t know who or what you are, but it might be better that we keep it that way. If Giovanni is going to hunt you down, keeping you out of the obvious would be best.” Gary pulled a long brown cloak coat from his bag, and handed it to Mewtwo. He grasped it, and whirled it over his figure, buttoning it up at the front. It hung over his body and tail, leaving only his legs and face unmasked, which was quickly corrected by the hood which Mewtwo pulled over himself. That only left his feet, but even then it was only by a few inches, and most people didn’t stare at feet.

“That looks better! You even look human!” Angel exclaimed, walking along towards the entrance. This meant she now only had two spots left instead of three, and she still needed a water type, as well as electric, if nothing else. “Alright! Let’s go!”

* * * * *

“Alright Moonlight, finish off that Crobat with a Psychic!” she barked. The newly levelled up Moonlight charged his mental power, the attack packing much more of a punch now that he and the other two were raised to level 40. The wave collided with the Crobat, who donned swirly eyes before even hitting the wall. The real bugger to have trained was Anarchy, but in the presence of Mewtwo, he obeyed flawlessly. Angel had no idea what he told the pokemon, but whatever it was, he seemed very scared of Amelio. Janine’s eye rose as she recalled her last pokemon.

“I’m impressed. You went from a fast loss to a fast win in a matter of a few days. Whoever your cloaked friend is, he must be a lucky charm. I confer upon you the Pokemon League Soul Badge.” Angel proudly took the badge, and placed it on her collar along with the other four. Now, all she had to do was take out three more, and she’d be off to the pokemon league. But right now, the place she wanted to go required a little back tracking. Out of the Gym they strode, and no sooner did she leave did she release Anarchy.

“Alright buddy, fly us to the power plant outside Cerulean!” she ordered him. The large bird glanced at Mewtwo, and silently frowned in obedience as he carried them off to the power plant.

AN: Anyone, feel free to make a side plot with the rocket in the harem. Just don’t mention Angel. :D
