Chapter 2
In Sickness and in Health: Chapter 2
Raven sat in the next room, disgusted with himself. Just when he and Reese were beginning to somewhat getting along, he had to screw it up. He had no idea why he gave in to kiss; he didn’t even like Reese that way. Didn’t he? His feelings had softened toward her, but not to that extent. He thought that he and Reese would just go their own separate ways after the war was over. Why did this have to happen?
“ I don’t need this,” Raven thought. “ I don’t.”
That’s what he kept telling himself for several minutes. He did not need Reese. He didn’t need anyone. He survived on his own for as long as he could remember. He would survive on his own for the rest of his life. Raven looked at his side and saw shadow laying next him. At least he had his organoid. Shadow grunted something to Raven, but Raven did not respond. Shadow grunted again saying that Raven should check on Reese. It was strange to see the organoid so worried about Reese. Shadow kept pestering him until he finally answered.
“ Fine,” Raven said in frustration. “ Just so you’ll leave me alone.”
Raven sat up and slowly made his way to Reese’s room. He opened the door to find the room was empty. He knocked on the bathroom door and when there was no answer, Raven stepped inside. Reese was not in there either.
“ Damnit!” Raven shouted. Reese was gone and it was his fault. She was still in no condition to be out wondering. For a moment, Raven thought he should just leave Reese alone. If she died out there or got lost, it was her own fault and he was not going help her. But, he couldn’t bring himself to do that. He called for shadow to follow him and he went outside to the Genobreaker (a/n: I know it was badly damaged at the end of the series, but let’s say he got it fixed).

Reese sat on Specula’s back as they made their way toward Nichalo’s cave. It was the only place Reese felt comfortable. Nichalo was the only one who ever cared for her, unlike Raven. She thought it was a good decision for her to leave. Raven was just like everybody else. He could care less about what happened to her. In some was, she wished Nichalo were still alive.
A few moments later, it began to rain. It was so heavy that Reese could not see in front of her. This was defiantly not good for her health. All she wanted now was a warm, dry place to rest. Suddenly, Specula stopped and forced Reese off her back. Reese was confused until she saw what Specula’s true intentions. The organoids chest plates opened up and the vine-like cords wrapped all over Reese’s body. She was pulled inside the blue organoid and they shot through the air.

It was raining so much that Raven couldn’t see, even in his Genobreaker. Reese must be freezing in this weather. Raven mentally smacked himself. Why was he so worried about her? Almost every one of his thoughts was about her. He was still pondering the reason why he went after her in the first place.
Suddenly, Raven felt ashamed of himself. Was it Reese messing with him again? No, it wasn’t her. It was just the mere thought of leaving her out there. He cursed to himself and pushed forward.

Reese’s eyes fluttered open in surprise. She was inside Nichalo’s cave and there was a fire going. She spotted Specula not to far away and smiled. She still felt very ill. Her limbs felt achy and her head was throbbing. Being out in the rain did not help her situation. She realized now that running away from Raven was not the right thing to do.
Reese looked around the cave and saw Nichalo’s tattered zoid drawings. She remembered how much he loved zoids. He was determined to be the best zoid pilot on Zi. These memories brought tears to the Ancient Zoidian’s eyes.

A little girl with blue hair woke with a start when she found a little boy hovering over her. He was smiled and poked her shoulder. “ What’s your name?” He asked.
“ Huh?” she said weakly.
“ What’s your name? Do you have one?” the little boy asked.
“ It’s……..Reese,” she said after thinking a little bit.
“ Hi Reese! I’m Nichalo.”
“ Where am I?”
“ Your in my cave,” Nichalo replied. “ I like it here. I can draw zoids all I want!”
“ You draw zoids?” Reese asked. Zoids, she heard of them before.
“ Yeah! See!” Nichalo proceeded to hold up a drawing of a Helcat. Reese smiled and took the drawing out of his hands to get a better look. Nichalo smiled and Reese wondered why this boy was caring for her so much. Maybe he would become her friend.

Reese laughed softly and picked up one of the drawings. It was a picture of a saber fang. She remembered the day Nichalo showed her this picture. It was the day the Republican army attacked the cave. Nichalo had died trying to save her. Just the thought made her feel ill. More tears sprang from her eyes in continuous streams. She didn’t even bother to wipe them away.
With her vision blurred, Reealkealked closer to the fire. The heat from the fire dried the tears on her face. She watched the rain falling outside and in some way wished to see Raven walking toward her. That wasn’t going to happen and she knew it.

Raven was at the point where he was about to give up his search. He had no idea where to look. She couldn’t have gotten that far, considering that she was on foot. But, she had Specula with her. She could cover more ground with that organoid.
“Damnit,” Raven cursed. “ Where the hell is she?”
Suddenly, it hit him like a ton of bricks. She had to be in that cave he found her in earlier. It was the only obvious choice. She seemed to be so attached to that cave. Raven pushed north on the controls and headed in the direction of that cave, hoping Reese was there.
