Sand of Arguments

Wish Upon a Star

By Jay Kamiya (AKA Yami Jay)

Note: This is my long shot St Seiya fic. I’m introducing my OC, Aurore. It’s an after Hades fic. Don’t worry; you’ll see what’s going on with this. I just hope that my idea will not go nuts. I will also use the descriptions of the Saints from the anime. And I’m also including some couples… Some yaoi, some het. And you will meet one character from St Seiya Episode G.

Also:
// …// = Telepatic talking

Now, here are the thank you’s I have to do for last chapter:

Chirella: My friend, you have may hit the nail. You\'ll find something in this chapter. As for Aurore and Shaka... You never know.

Alex O\'Brien: Well, I always imagine that Camus had a little sister. It just came naturally.

nagi: LOL! Don\'t worry, no Yamis in this story. Maybe some Egyptian evil spirits, but no yamis. I keep them for the YGO stories.

Rapture: For what\'s happening in Egypt, I won\'t tell or I\'ll just blow the surprise. And as for Aurore refusing to be a Saint, it will be later on. You\'ll also know the level and cloth she was suppose to have (I have an image of the say cloth).

Seiro: Thanks for both of the comments. Sorry, but I\'ll keep the Yaoi in this story ;^^

Disclaimer: I do not own St Seiya or the characters. They are own by Masami Kurumada or/and Okada. I only own Aurore.

Chapter 2: Sand of Arguments

It’s been only a day that they were gone and already they had argued. Right now, Aurore had her headphone on her ears and was ignoring Shaka, who was walking beside her. She was planning a way to kill Milo when she came back to Sanctuary. The music was not what you expect a young girl to listen; she was listening to rock music. She knew the trip was going to be long. She gave a side glance to Shaka; he was wearing his usual clothing when he wasn’t fighting: a white tunics. On her side, she was wearing her usual training cloths, the same one she had wore the previous day.

Her tape finish playing and she just pretend to listen to music.

Shaka: Mind to stop pretending you listen to you tapes.
Aurore: It’s better than listen to you… Anyway, we’re already to the Museum.

They both entered the museum. Some visitors were looking around, but Aurore was searching for the museum’s conservator. She had found out that most universities had a connection to the said person for the researches. It was for the fact that most of the results ended up here.

It took them a few minutes to find the conservator’s office. They could see that some researchers are also waiting to his door. Aurore and Shaka looked at each other; something bad happen. Aurore decided that she needed to find out what was going on and got closer to one of the researchers. Surprisingly, it was one of her old school researcher, Professor Cloutier. The professor had been known for his recent research on the archeological sites in Egypt.

Aurore: Excuse me, but what happen?
Prof Cloutier: The conservator has locked himself in his office since this morning.
Aurore: How come? Did he receive something?
Prof Cloutier: That’s what worries most of us… He received a package from one of the archeological sites of the university that I work for…
Aurore: Which one?
Prof. Cloutier: It’s the one where we discovered an old temple… Why all this questions?
Aurore: Nevermind…

Shaka suddenly felt a really great among of negative energy. He put a hand on Aurore’s shoulder, like he wanted to warn her. She gave him a small glance and decided that it was maybe time to check on the conservator. She made herself a passage to the door and knock on it. No answer, but it wasn’t going to stop her. She knocked again, but this time she heard someone yelling loudly. She tried to open the door quickly, but something was blocking it. Some of the researchers helped her to open the door. They opened it after a few minutes, but it was too late…

* Sanctuary, Greece *

Camus was uneasy since his sister had left for Egypt with Shaka. Aurore had been very unhappy and Shaka seemed pretty much the same, but hide it well. Most of the others swore that those two were going to kill each other before the end of the investigation. He closed his eyes for a few seconds, but the next thing he could see was blood. He reopened them quickly.

Camus: Aurore…

* Cairo, Egypt *

The scene was pretty gory. The conservator was laying in the middle of his office, in his pool of blood. His head had been cut off and put on his desk. Also, blood was spread around the office, leaving a really horrible scene. Most of the researchers were horrified by the scene. Aurore looked around and noticed that there was a fight before the death. She looked at some of the others, but the face that Professor Cloutier made was clear, something was missing.

Aurore: I suggest that someone call the authorities. NOW!

The shout made others react and one of them made a clear cut to the fun next door. Aurore step out of the room and glare at Shaka; the reason of this murder was clear. After, she looked to Professor Cloutier and noticed he wasn’t alone. The young man was most likely his assistant, joining him and learning the news. Aurore could feel from the assistant a very strong cosmos and look again at Shaka, who decided to join the Professor.

Prof. Cloutier: This is horrible… The relic is missing.
Aurore: What relic? The one from the university site?
Retsu: Obviously!
Shaka: Retsu?

The young man looked at Shaka and obviously recognized the Gold Saint. He was shocked and didn’t know what to say, but he bow to in front of the Virgo Saint. Shaka told him not too because of the others and the young man got up.

Retsu: I’m surprise to see you here Shaka! But what are you doing here?
Shaka: Investigation for Sanctuary…
Retsu: I see… And her? *points to Aurore*
Shaka: Camus’ sister… They’ve insisted for me to bring her with me for some reason…
Aurore: You want me to quote the Grand Pope on this one?
Shaka: No need. I have a good memory.
Aurore: Good, I thought you had forgotten.
Shaka: Really funny… *to Retsu* Care to fill us in about this relic? It might help us.

Retsu started to explain what the relic in question was; it was a set of five stones with a variety of symbols on it. The stones were probably a set of keys to something, but nothing was sure. It was because of this that the University team had sent the stones here, so that the conservator could check them for the professor. Aurore was wondering if any of the students were involve in this.

Finally, the police arrived and ask for the researchers to step aside so they could start the investigation. Some of them start to question everyone. That made Shaka a little nervous; what was he suppose to say to them. Aurore noticed it and smirked; somehow she’ll end up saving his skin without him have a say in this.

* Later *

Shaka was not happy, he was furious. Aurore had the “bright” idea to say they had been send by Saori Kido to investigate about a site that she heard about. Well, it was half true since it was Athena, but the worst was she had passed him as her assistant. They had been freed from the policemen after telling them that they came to ask a few things to the now dead conservator. Retsu and the Professor were still inside, but the Bronze Saint did ask them to wait for them outside.

Aurore: Are you going to be like this forever?
Shaka: It’s your fault anyway…
Aurore: Geez… I save your skin to find an unbelievable excuse. Beside, I did say the truth.
Shaka: You twisted it you mean…
Aurore: So? Beside, they would have locked you if you had said who you were really…
Shaka: And made me your assistant? No thank you!
Aurore: You are still sore about this one? Well, another thing to add to my list… No sense of humor at all…
Shaka: Hn.

Aurore looked toward the museum’s door and saw Retsu coming out alone. Aurore just waved and he joined them. Retsu seemed really worried and both of the other two noticed.

Shaka: What’s wrong?
Retsu: They are keeping the Professor inside for a little longer… Seems that they are wondering why he was there to take the missing items.
Aurore: Ouch… So, what now?
Retsu: Well, I was planning to go back to the sites tonight. You two want to come?
Aurore: Sure!
Shaka: Might as well…
Retsu: You are okay Shaka?
Aurore: He’s sore because of the excuse I made up for him.
Retsu: Oh…

Shaka just turned around and noticed something; someone was watching them. He decided not to warn Aurore; no need to make her worried. It was moment later when the professor came out of the museum and joined them. He seemed more worried than ever. He quickly explained that he couldn’t go back to the site because the authorities wanted him to be present if something new happened. Retsu told him he would go back and warn the others. Professor Cloutier just headed out to the facilities reserved for the Universities in Cairo, leaving Retsu, Shaka and Aurore alone, to head for the sites.

A few minutes later, they had reached the jeep that Retsu had to travel. Aurore took the seat beside Retsu, who was driving, and Shaka sat in the back. It wasn’t comfortable, but he could deal with it. Retsu started the engines and they were on there way.

* Sanctuary, Greece *

Camus have been worried and got down to the Scorpio Temple; somehow, being around Milo help him to calm down. He entered the temple and saw the Scorpio Saint standing next to a pillar and watching outside. He seemed caught in his own thoughts. Camus cleared his throat and Milo turned his head, smiling to his friend. He also noticed that the ice saint was worried.

Milo: You’re okay?
Camus: No… I got a really bad feeling that something is going to happen to Aurore. I know Shaka is with her, but I can’t help it.
Milo: She is strong Camus; she knows how to defend herself and knows what to do in case of a problem.
Camus: * sighs* I know… But you know that Shaka and she don’t work together…
Milo: I know... But Camus, stop worrying about her. She’ll be fine.
Camus: I hope so…

Milo couldn’t help to put one arm around his friend’s shoulder; he wished he could be more than that, but it was okay. Camus seemed to calm down and put his head on Milo’s shoulder. Silently, both of them knew something was going to happen.

* Near the Nil, Egypt *

Shaka was having a not so good ride so far; Retsu was driving really fast and some of his turns were tight. Aurore had put her headphones on her ears to ignore Shaka’s complain. She didn’t mind the fast driving or the tight turns; she loved it actually. She looked to her side; everything was sand and rocks. There were still a few hours before they could make it to the site. A sudden bump made the passagers jumped; Shaka didn’t hold a curse in his native tongue. That made Retsu smirk, but Aurore wasn’t listening; she was more caught up on her music.

Retsu: You are lucky she didn’t hear you Shaka.
Shaka: For once, I’m happy she’s ignoring me.
Retsu: I take that you don’t like her…
Shaka: Let’s just say that each time I saw her; she always is surrounded by Aiolia, Milo, Mu and Camus… She always had a cocky attitude with them.
Retsu: I guess you never had time alone with her.
Shaka: Yes.
Retsu: Shaka, take this occasion to get to know her without the other Gold Saints. You never know, she might not be that bad.
Shaka: So far, she is.

They felt silent when they saw Aurore changing her tape to the other side. She wasn’t really paying attention to her surrounding. She put her walkman next to her. She continued to look outside, but a few minutes later, she felt asleep.

* Later *

The jeep stopped and Aurore woke up. It was already dark. She looked and she saw many tents surrounding a huge archeological sites. A few fire camps were lighted and many students were around them. Shaka and Retsu were already out of the jeep when she finally got out. She stretch a little and joined them. They walked until they entered the tent that Retsu was sharing usually with Professor Cloutier. He nodded Shaka and Aurore to follow him. It wasn’t that small and they could perfectly share it.

They both put their bags on small beds and they sat on them. Shaka noticed that Retsu’s Cloth box was there, well hidden from unwanted eyes. It was covered by a dark blue cloth. Retsu sat on his bed, facing Shaka. Aurore was sitting on hers, which was beside Shaka’s.

Retsu: So, Sanctuary is worried with the negative energy here.
Shaka: Yes, this is why they send us. Have you noticed something?
Retsu: Yes… Ever since we discovered the temple, most students started to act weird.
Aurore: It has to do with the temple or whatever it’s in there. I suppose it was the five stones?
Retsu: Yes… By the way, why would Sanctuary send a civilian with a Gold Saint?
Aurore: The Grand Pope didn’t want him to get noticed… And it was a sick revenge from Milo.
Retsu: Come again? Milo?
Aurore: Let’s just say I had a go with him before the whole thing…
Retsu: I see…
Shaka: Beside this fact, we have to be unnoticed…
Aurore: Don’t look at me like that! You’re the one with a cloth!
Shaka: I suppose do, but you have a tendency to be like Milo sometimes…
Aurore: Like annoying you I suppose?

She glared at him and got out of the tent. That got both of the saints off guard; Aurore might have listened to their conversation. Retsu just looked at Shaka, asking what to do. Shaka just shook his head, not knowing what to do.

Outside, Aurore was not happy. She knew that Shaka found her annoying, but the way he acted made her more annoyed that anything. She really hoped that she would be soon back to Sanctuary, enjoying hanging out with her brother and the rest of her usual circle of friends. She went and sat on a rock and look at some students; they were talking with low voices, looking at the flames of the fire camp. They haven’t noticed her so far. She wished she could hear what they were saying, but with no practice in telepathy it was no use. She sighed and heard some footsteps behind her. She just looked behind and noticed it was Shaka. She sighed and continued to look at the students. He sat beside her and kept silent for a while.

Shaka: Aurore…
Aurore: What?
Shaka: Listen, I know we don’t usually agree with each other, but could we try for once?
Aurore: Fine… One condition; no more talking on my back, I really hate that.
Shaka: It’s fine with me. Have you been listening to the conversations?
Aurore: No… I’m not advanced in my telepathic lessons. I should have listen to my sensei back in the old days…
Shaka: You were a trainee?
Aurore: Yes… Surprised? I could have been a Saint too… But refuse it.
Shaka: Why?
Aurore: I had my reasons… Let’s just say it’s more complicated that it looks.

They felt silent again. She kept looking at the students and noticed they were a little more that they used too. Both of them also noticed that one of the teachers was with them. All of the students were silent and listen to the teacher. Aurore could feel something was wrong, so then Shaka. But unlike Shaka, Aurore couldn’t listen to the discussion or even try something with telepathy. Mu did tell her that she had some abilities. A few minutes later, most of the students were gone and went to sleep. Shaka got up and signal Aurore it was their turn to head out. They reached their tent and saw Retsu was already asleep.

Aurore: You got any clues while we listen?
Shaka: It seems they already know about the conservator’s murder… Also, at least one of the teachers is acting weird. My guess would be they are possessed.
Aurore: I suppose it’s fair… One of the students must have done the job.
Shaka: The murder? I would guess so… I wouldn’t be surprised if some of them are still at Cairo.
Aurore: Me neither… * yawns* Not that I don’t mind talking but I need some sleep too…
Shaka: Alright…

Both of them took their bed and started to sleep. It was already late.

* Next Morning *

The sun was barely up when the three occupants of the tent were up. Retsu had been filled up about last night. Retsu did confirm the fact that some students were still at Cairo. They went to get some breakfast with the others who were on the camp site, but noticed that no one was there. Retsu told him that most of the students like to over sleep lately, but Shaka knew something was up. Aurore didn’t take noticed and went to get breakfast with Retsu. Shaka followed. They were eating when some students finally shown up. They said hello to Retsu and when grabbing something to eat. Aurore was starting to feel a painful headache. She putted her fork next her plat and rubbed right temple. It was like at school. Shaka noticed this and was now aware that Aurore might have not being able to raise a psychic shield.

Shaka: Aurore?
Aurore: Nothing… Just a headache, nothing to worry about.
Shaka: Aurore, maybe you should go outside for awhile.
Aurore: * sighes* Fine.

She took some fruits and head outside. Shaka was still worried. Retsu just looked at Shaka, trying to figure out why he send her outside. He quickly explained why she had headaches like this and what Mu quickly told him before leaving; Aurore was able to feel psychic attack but wasn’t able to raise any mental shield. He took a fruit also and went outside, to find that Aurore was no where to be seen. He went to the tent and saw her on her camping bed, one arm on her eyes and trying to calm her breathing. He sat beside her and touched her shoulder. She looked quickly and closed her eyes again.

Aurore: My head really hurts… I guess too much people are trying to read my mind.
Shaka: You’ll have to try to block them.
Aurore: Easy for you to say…
Shaka: What did you master had say to you about this?
Aurore: I don’t remember… It’s been so long…

Shaka was wondering if she really didn’t remember or didn’t want to remember. He just stayed beside her until Retsu joined them in the tent and took a book note and a pencil. He quickly looked at the two of them and smiled a little; he left them quickly. Aurore had finally calmed down her breathing.

* Later *

Shaka and Aurore were now looking around the site. The tents of the students, teachers and most of the staff were up a rocky hill of a small valley while the archeogical site was downhill and rock and sand were mix together. Most of the students were working on a temple door that was incasing in the opposite side to the camp. The small valley was busied with students and members of the University staff. Most of them didn’t really notice the new comers and if they noticed them, they were leaving them alone.

Aurore stopped in front of the doors that belong to a temple. Two status of Anubis, the Egyptian God of death, were on each side of the doors. Ancient inscriptions were written on the door and only people with the knowledge of the ancient language could read it. She was observing the door when Shaka put his hand on her shoulder. She turned around and looked at him; for one of the rare moments, he had his eyes opened.

Shaka: Do you feel the negative energy of this place?
Aurore: Yea… I guess this place is the center of the negative energy that Sion was talking about. Somehow, I have the feeling that something is in this temple and took possession of the students and some members of the staff.
Shaka: Agree. Maybe we should watch some of the teachers more closely.
Aurore: Amen to that. Let’s continue to check the site out.

Both of them walked away of the door, not knowing they have been watch.

* Sanctuary, Greece *

The usual group was all in the Leo temple; Mu, Aiolia, Milo and Camus decided to do a small reunion between them. Camus had told the group about the small flash and the uneasy feeling that he had since Shaka and Aurore left Sanctuary. That got the group off-guard that Camus was showing some sighs of uneasy worrying. It was a really bad sign.

Aiolia: Are you sure Camus?
Camus: Yes… I have a feeling that something is going to happen to them. I just know it.
Milo: Should we tell the others about this?
Mu: It would be a good idea, but then again, the others would tell us not to worry too much since it’s Shaka that we are talking about…
Camus: But I’m sure something bad is going to happen to them… And Aurore…
Aiolia: We know, but right now… We just have to wait. The first sign we have of them having trouble, we’ll leave and go help them.
Mu: I agree.
Milo: I guess we have to wait.

Silent felt heavy on them, but the decision was made among the four of them.

* Egypt, later the same day *

The day was passing slowly. Shaka and Aurore had looked around and watch the students’ work and even spot students that shown some signs of being possessed. They haven’t seen Retsu at all until lunch time when they joined him. He was going to leave for Cairo again to get Professor Cloutier, leaving the two of them to handle their investigation. He told them that they could use the tent. Dinner past slowly; they were both silent and Aurore was having one bad headache. Shaka was trying to make her a small shield, but it wasn’t enough.

After a while, they left for the tent. Aurore just lay down and tried to relax herself again. Shaka sat next to her again and waited that she relaxed a little. Her breathing had been heavy when they had entered the tent, but it was coming back to normal. She sat on the bed and looked at Shaka.

Aurore: I’m starting to hate being around the students… I always end up with a headache.
Shaka: I know… But we haven’t finished the investigation yet. But I know it’s getting worst by the minute for you.
Aurore: Yea… It’s just that my headaches are getting really bad.
Shaka: You should rest for now. We will continue the investigation tomorrow.

She just nodded and lay on her bed. Shaka went on his own bed and started to meditate since he didn’t have the chance to do so since the beginning of the trip. He just sat on his bed and started to meditate. It was quiet until he heard Aurore moving again and taking something from her bag. He didn’t take attention and continued his mediation.

Aurore had taken a book from her back and start to read. It might help her to forget the headache and relax a little. She loved to read that book a lot; it was a small book with collections of poem from a Canadian writer. She always liked Emile Nelligan’s poem and this book was always with her. She was currently reading one of her favorite poems: Marches Funèbres.

J\'écoute en moi des voix funèbres
Clamer transcendentalement,
Quand sur un motif allemand
Se rythment ces marches célèbres.

She wasn’t paying attention to her surrounding, but it was night already. Foot steps could be heard outside. Many of them were surrounding the tent.

Au frisson fou de mes vertèbres
Si je sanglote éperdument,
C\'est que j\'entends des voix funèbres
Clamer transcendentalement.

Shaka was now aware that people were around the tent that he was sharing with Aurore. He decided t wait until the next move. Suddenly many students attack the tent, leaving little move for Shaka and Aurore. She left her book on the floor and they both make a run for it.

Outside, both of them were surround by students and some members of the staff. All of them had red eyes and looked ready to fight the two of them. Shaka was ready to fight, knowing somehow that might not wake up the students. On her side, Aurore had taken a fighting position, ready to defend her. Many of the students attacked, trying to knock them out of their games. Shaka didn’t have any trouble to defend himself by using his attacks on them, but it wasn’t the case of Aurore; she could barely keep up with her opponents and she was now having her worst headache ever. Suddenly, she received a kick on her right side. She couldn’t restrain a small cry and tried to get back on track, but no use. Some of the students just jumped on her and knock her out.

When he heard Aurore’s cry, he automatically turned and saw that the young woman was down. He was worried for her and decided to get her out of there when he felt a jolt of pain on the back of his neck. The next thing he saw was darkness. The fight was over.

In the tent, a book was on the floor, left on the page that its owner left.

Tel un troupeau spectral de zèbres
Mon rêve rôde étrangement;
Et je suis hanté tellement
Qu\'en moi toujours, dans mes ténèbres,
J\'entends geindre des voix funèbres.

Shaka and Aurore were on the ground, knocked out and students were having mere smirks on their faces. The teachers ordered some of them to put them away and make sure that they were well guarded.

* Sanctuary, Greece *

Camus woke up with a start; he was sure something had happen to Aurore. He quickly dressed up and got to his temple. To his surprised, Milo, Aiolia and Mu were waiting for him.

Mu: We are leaving tonight. Something happen… I feel Shaka’s cosmos drop a few moments ago.

Camus nodded and went to take a small bag he had kept with him in such situation, something that belong to Aurore a long time ago. They left for Egypt.

Note: Chapter 2 is something I couldn’t help to do. Also, the poem is from Emile Nelligan. It’s called Marches Funèbres and I thought it fit the fic somehow. And yes, it’s French. There is different versions of this chapter; one for Fanfiction.Net (the none gory version) and one for Adultfanfiction.net (the version with some more gory details).
