He Threw a Curve Ball
Last Time: Just before the door clicked closed, Allen heard a distinct 'che'. Still she smiled to herself as she nuzzled and hugged her pillow. She wasn't sure if it was the effect of her lethargy or not, but she could've sworn that she heard him also say 'you're welcome' before he closed the door.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
The corners of Kanda's lips curled into a very small smile. As he closed the door to the sprout's bedroom he had reciprocated her "thanks." He said it so quietly that he wasn't sure if she had actually heard it or not. In fact, the reason he had said it so quietly was partly because he didn't want to be heard, but he figured that since she was so out of it she wouldn't remember it at all.
His small genuine smile quickly turned into a smirk as he leaned his back against the bedroom door. For all of the big-talk and self fulfilling prophecies of protecting others and doing everything himself, Allen didn't seem capable of any of it now that he was a girl. With arms folded, Kanda laughed to himself. Somehow having the tiny form of a girl made Allen lose of his strength. He still couldn't believe that Allen's lithe body could actually get any smaller than it already was. And Kanda knew just how small she really was; he got a good look at her while he helped Allen redress herself.
Kanda's mood quickly soured as he thought back to the scene he walked into that had happened only fifteen minutes ago. He always thought that Lavi was into voluptuous women, not to mention women that were older than him. Not like Lavi ever tried to keep his preferences a secret. So why in the hell would he go that far with the bean sprout? Damn kid didn't make things better for her with the over-whelmed and submissive act, which unfortunately wasn't an act at all.
If Kanda remembered correctly, then Allen had never showed interest in any woman or man for that matter. He'd often help Rinali scold Lavi whenever he was caught hitting on some civilian woman. Of course Allen wouldn't know the first thing about relationships, let alone sex. So it didn't take much for him-wait, Kanda shook his head, -her- he reminded himself, it didn't take much for her to have been completely overpowered in such a lewd and compromising situation.
After shaking his head once again, Kanda pushed himself of the door he was leaning against and took off in the direction of the science department. With his usual long strides, it didn't take Kanda long before he had made it out of the private quarters and into the main hall where he nearly collided with someone as he turned the corner.
"Oh-whoa, Kanda-kun!" Reever gasped as he desperately grappled the box of folders and files, making sure as not to drop them. Kanda merely scowled at the older man. "So, uhh, what's up, Kanda-kun? You enjoying the quite spell we've been having here?" No matter how many years he knew Kanda, his icy gaze always unnerved Reever.
"You guys been working on some damn new experiment or something?" Kanda asked not trying to hide the anger in his voice.
"Uh, ummm, no. Why? Are you actually volunteering?" Reever was completely taken back by Kanda's question.
"Che." Kanda turned his head at Reever's response. His brows furrowed at the idea of allowing those procrastinating fools to do god-knows-what to him. "Then what about the Sister Complex?" He asked turning back to Reever.
"Eh?" Reever's jaw went slightly slack as his eyes opened wide.
"Where is he?" Kanda asked but Reever's only response to the question was that his pupils narrowed. "Don't you even know?" Kanda's voice rumbled dangerously low as he continued his questioning. Reever's response this time was to begin sweating bullets. "You people didn't leave him alone, did you?!"
"Say now, why don't we go and check on the Chief together. I needed to ask him some questions anyhow." Reever's broad smile couldn't hide the grim revolution in his eyes as he spoke.
The veins on Kanda's forehead began to pulse greatly as he followed the older scientist to the office of the Supervisor, Komui Lee. Kanda knew that none of this was going to turn out good. He just hoped that for the bean sprout's sake that the effects of whatever the hell happened to her weren't permanent. It didn't take long for the two to arrive at Komui's office, especially Kanda's menacing -encouragement- raging behind a very rushed Reever.
"Hey, boss, you in?" Reever asked as he kicked the door slightly. His hands being used to hold the box of overflowing papers.
"Cooome ii-iiiin~!" Komui's voice sang threw the heavy wooden door.
Reever grimaced as he backed away for Kanda to open the door. Both men knew that tone of voice and what it entailed. Truly, Komui had invented another sort of god-awful contraption or potion. Kanda opened the door to the office and made his way in cutting Reever off.
"Aah~” Komui looked up from his desk that sat in the middle of a sea of papers. "So, what can I do for you two?" He asked beaming.
"What the hell did you do this time?" Kanda growled as he marched up to the front of Komui's desk, glaring as he stood over the sitting man.
"Whatever do you mean, Kanda-kun?" Komui blinked a little but kept on smiling.
"I mean what the hell did you feed to the bean sprout this time?" Kanda's eyes were feixed intently on the lucrative curly-haired chief.
"Wait, what happened to Allen-kun? You didn't say anything about that on the way here." Reever's words came fast and nervous as he sat down the box of files on the edge of Komui's desk.
"You really don't know?" Kanda continued his questioning ignoring Reever's own questions.
"Why, no. Of course, not." Komui said as he continued to smile all the same.
"Wa-wait, wait, wait!" Reever ordered as he stuck his arm out in front of the menacing raven-haired Exorcist. "You didn't make up any new experiments today, did you, boss?" Reever asked nervously as he held Kanda back.
"Well, not that you mention it,” Komui began. Already an uneasy feeling swept over Kanda and Reever. "While I was contemplating the light of my life, my beloved little sister Rinali, I decided to take myself into the halls of my own private laboratory. For days now I've been suffering threw these quiet times without her tender, loving care. So, I concentrated all of my love for that beautiful little angel into a new potion."
Upon hearing Komui's outrageous story; Reever grimaced while Kanda glared dangerously at the man.
"An-and,” Reever paused dreading his question and the answer he would get. "And what did you do with the potion after that?"
"Ahh, you see,” Komui paused for dramatic effect. "Not having anyone around to praise me in my latest and greatest accomplishment to date, I went to the cafeteria to showcase this monumental event to Jerry-kun."
"But what happened to the potion?" Reever asked.
"I gave it to Jerry-kun for his wonderful and well-deserved praise!" Komui's smile broadened even more.
"What did he do with it?!" Reever demanded.
Komui's smile quickly faded as his expression turned into one of a shocked realization. He then took a deep breath before saying: "I don't know!"
Any hope that had been left in the hearts of Reever and Kanda died away after that.
Kanda slammed his hand down onto Komui's desk hard enough to leave an indent in the hardwood. His eyes, not to mention his mood, darkened further as he stared down the crack-pot-sister-loving maniac who never should've been put in charge of a science department. Reever, having noticed the immense bloodlust that the young Exorcist was radiating quickly put himself between Kanda and the desk where Komui sat at.
"Ka-Kanda-kun, you can't kill him! He may not know what the potion does but he is still the Section Chief! You can't-” Reever stopped mid-sentence as Kanda turned 'round on his heels and made his way back to the door with his long and smooth strides. Reever and Komui watched in shock as Kanda walked out the door and away from them. They turned to each other in disbelief and then jumped a few feet in the air when Kanda slammed the door shut behind him.
"Wow,” Komui whistled. "You actually got him to listen to you!" Komui now looked at Reever with the same kind of admiration that a child would have for an adult.
"No, but, boss, we really need to take this seriously! Something really bad must've happened to Allen-kun to make Kan-” Reever stopped mid-sentence again seeing that Komui's childish look hadn't gone away. "Will you please take this seriously?"
While Reever continued to plead with any little rationality that the four-eyed sister complex had left in him, Kanda marched down to the cafeteria to see the head cook, Jerry. Kanda completely ignored the others waiting patiently in line and cut to the front. He didn't even give the man a chance to say a word before he grabbed Jerry's collar and pulled him out from the ordering-slash-serving window. Jerry struggled against Kanda's death grip as the youth dragged him through the many stone halls that lead to Komui's office.
Reever's endeavors into scolding Komui for his thoughtless actions were interrupted by Kanda's foot colliding with the office door, which flew open violently. Both Komui and Reever gawked at the sight of Kanda dragging Jerry so effortlessly into the room. And with only the one hand he used to bring Jerry the entire distance, Kanda threw Jerry up against Komui's desk right next to where Reever stood. All three men were taken back by the herculean strength that the young raven haired Exorcist displayed.
"What the hell did you do with it?" Kanda demanded of Jerry.
"Do with what? Huh?" Jerry asked still in shock from everything.
"Uuhhh, he's talking about the potion that the boss gave you, Jerry-san." Reever explained anxiously.
"Oh, yes! That great and wonderful potion that Komui-chan ma-"
"WHAT DID YOU DO WITH IT, DAMMIT!!" Kanda roared making all three men jump where the stood (or in Komui's case; sit).
"Ooh, well, I,” Jerry trembled slightly under Kanda's demonic glare. "I used it to bake a most delicious strawberry chiffon cake."
"And?" Kanda pressed further.
"And I gave the first slice to Allen-chan."
"The first slice?" Kanda repeated darkly.
"What happened to the rest of the cake, Jerry-san?" Reever asked.
"No one else has eaten it. Why? Surely there's nothing wrong with it. My cooking is always-"
"The hell there isn't." Kanda growled, interrupting Jerry.
"Kanda-kun, you never told us what exactly happened to Allen-kun. So what's going on here?" Reever asked as he stepped forward.
With a disgruntled sigh, Kanda motioned for the others to follow him. Not even bothering to check to see if they followed, Kanda walked past the open (and broken) door. The three older men reluctantly followed Kanda through the maze like corridors and hallways, and into the private quarter’s section of the old castle.
"Oi, bean sprout, you awake in there?" Kanda called as he knocked on the door. Komui, Reever, and Jerry; all three were shocked to see Kanda perform such a gentleman-like action. Kanda would always just open the door or shout through it to someone. He was never known for actually knocking on doors. "Oi! Wake up!" Kanda ordered. "We're coming in."
Some low and soft muffled sound was all the group heard of Allen through the heavy door. Not waiting for a real response, Kanda opened the door to Allen's bedroom. Having come for a second time today, Kanda noticed that she had set her boots on the floor. Allen had originally gone to bed with them on but now it looks like she might've changed into some pajamas.
"Kanda-kun, are you sure we should just enter in here without Allen-kun saying-hey! Wait!" Reever tried to grab Kanda's arm but Kanda just batted his hand away.
"Oi, wake up already, damn sprout." Kanda ordered the younger Exorcist who lay cocooned up underneath her many layers of blankets on the bed.
"Tha's Allen,” Came her drowsy and pitiful response from under the covers.
"Don't care. Now get up!" With one quick motion Kanda had pulled the all the blankets off of Allen, then pulled her to sit up on the bed with his other hand.
The three older men stared transfixed in awe of the pale and delicate little flower that stared drowsily at them. As the situation finally clicked in place for the young girl she quickly covered her chest with her arms. Blushing furiously as she fidgeted with the buttons of her pajama top. They all noticed that one of the girl's hands was dark red and deformed; the skin built up over the knuckles of her fingers like a knight's gauntlet and the haunting black cross that lay on the back of the palm. All gasped as they themselves came to realization of just who this young, fair haired beauty really was.

Author's Notes: [EDIT] I know that the chapter wasn't appearing like it should and I fixed that. Through two ways: first is by taking out some of this chapter's story (it'll be in the next chapter); second is by moving the notes down here. O.o Weird right?[EDIT DONE]
This took way longer to finish than I had originally anticipated. Then again, so did the first chapter. Guess that's the way the ball rolls *shrugs* This chapter is kinda long but there's a lot for me cover in this one. So hopefully that'll make up for the wait some how ^w^ <3
