One:
Vengeance of Kisara-sama and Ryuukotsutei’s children.
“Loathsome
thief.” Seto looks down on Jounouchi as he bites on a
crabapple. “You don’t look as though you’ve missed
a meal.
“So tell me:
why did you steal my apples?”
“I...I didn’t
think you’d miss one apple....” Jounouchi stares at the
tall youth.
“You just think
apples grow on trees, don’t you?”
“They...usually
do.”
Seto
scowls at his prisoner. “I’m going to make you earn every
apple you ate.”
Mokuba
arrives with a leash. “What do you need this for?” the
boy asks Seto as he hands over the leash.
“I’ve
always wanted a pet.” Seto smiles, putting the leash on
Jounouchi. “And it looks like I’ve found a stray dog.”
Jounouchi
notes the leash and Seto’s chatter. “What? You mean
m--*?”
Seto
yanks on the leash. “Shut up! Dogs don’t talk.”
“...why you--*”
Jounouchi receives a kick from Seto for his trouble.
“Ani,
what are you doing?” cries Mokuba.
“I’ve got
to break this mongrel in.” Seto tugs on Jounouchi’s
leash. “Come, dog.”
Seething,
Jounouchi reluctantly follows.
-
- - - -
How
on earth did Jounouchi lose his way? Mazaki enters the clearing.
She sees an angry Jounouchi sitting on his haunches outside the hut,
holding a bone.
“If some
sorcerer’s tried to turn you into a dog,” she says, “he
failed miserably.”
“Woof,”
counters Jounouchi sardonically.
“You tried to
steal food, didn’t you?” smiles Mazaki knowingly.
Jounouchi
whines, dog-like; beckoning Mazaki closer. “Our favorite ass
wants me to be humiliated for a few crabapples,” he hisses.
“...I see.
You’ll have to stay that way for a while; enough time for me to
convince Seto to leave off the dragons.” Mazaki pets
Jounouchi’s head as Seto comes to the door.
“Hn...you’re
no guard dog--you let anyone waltz to the house.” Seto folds
his arms.
“Forgive my
intrusion. I’m a wandering ninja,” says Mazaki. “I’ve
heard tale of a young peasant wretch who slays dragons.”
“I’m he.
What of it?”
“You’ve
slain the white dragon Sugoroku; and have roused the ire of his
brethren. They seek your blood.”
Seto
laughs. “Let them come. I’ll subdue them as I did
Sugoroku.”
“I think not.
These dragons are not aged as Sugoroku was. They’ll kill you.”
“...you seem
weary from your travels. Let me extend my hospitality.” Seto
yanks off Mazaki’s mask as she enters. “My lady.”
“So you found
out my guise. No matter. Ryuukotsutei’s children are hunting
you down as I speak.”
“Then it makes
my job easier--mongrel!” Seto turns to Jounouchi. “Back
outside!”
Rolling
his eyes, Jounouchi returns outside.
Seto
sighs. “Damned cur; always underfoot. “As I said: my job
is thus made easier.”
“What part of
‘the white dragons will rend your waif body asunder’ do
you fail to understand?” asks Mazaki.
“Do you
remember the three dragons I slew...the ones I rescued you from?”
“...yes, I
do....” Mazaki scowls. “Seth, the Dragon Ogre Obelisk;
Atemu, the Dragon Serpent Osiris; and Malik, the Dragon Lion Ra.”
-
- - - -
-
- - - -
The
youth scowled, giving Mazaki a meaningful glance, then left.
“Those silver
lizards you’ve devoted your life to serving will slaughter your
precious hero. Or if, by a miracle,” swaggered Damien, “your
lout actually manages to kill the white dragons; I will simply wring
his little neck the moment he brings me the hearts.
“Then, my dear,
I can hope you’ll be more...tractable.” Laughing, Damien
left her alone on the dais.
-
- - - -
-
- - - -
“They were far
stronger than the blue-eyed ones,” smiles Seto.
“Indeed. Those
dragons are immortal. Their souls will look for a human vessel.
“But the white
dragons are fueled by vengeance, and no man alive has ever been able
to best them. The human caretaker you saw: he was Sugoroku’s
servant, not his master.”
Seto
glances outside toward Jounouchi. “Do you want your puppy
back?”
“He’s not
a dog. I can repay you for what he took tenfold, if that is your--*”
Mazaki is interrupted by a knock at the door.
-
- - - -
“Woof.
Woof-woof. Woof?” Jounouchi stares balefully at the three
cloaked strangers.
One
takes off his hood. “Otogi always said you’d make a great
dog,” smiles Honda, tousling his friend’s hair.
Jounouchi
sighs. “The person you’re looking for isn’t
inside.”
The
other two travelers, Kujaku and Otogi, lower their hoods. “We’ll
judge this for ourselves, mortal,” scowls Kujaku.
Mokuba
answers the door, giving Jounouchi a plate of food and a pair of
chopsticks. “Don’t tell Seto-ani, now,” the
boy winks.
“Woof, woof!”
Jounouchi sticks out his tongue. “Haa, haa, haa.” The
blond ninja falls to his meal.
“And what
brings you three here?” asks Mokuba.
Honda
smiles. “We seek the peasant dragon slayer. We have news of a
certain breed of dragon he has chosen as prey.”
“I see.”
Mokuba goes inside, followed by Jounouchi.
-
- - - -
“You say the
white dragons are hiding out in a nearby cave?” asks Seto.
“Yes,”
smiles Kujaku. “They are seeking the one who slew their
brother.”
“That’s
what this wench has been saying,” Seto grins, smacking Mazaki’s
bottom. Mazaki seethes.
“We can lead
you to the dragons if you wish,” says Honda.
“That sounds
like a great idea.”
“I’ll
come with you!” grins Mokuba. “I’ve never seen a
dragon before.”
“Good timing,
otouto.” Seto finds his weapon, an oddly-beautiful
broadsword. “These dragons are among the rarest.
“Mazaki, would
you kindly watch this stupid cur until I return?”
Mazaki
smiles, nods, and kicks Seto in the shins.
“Woman! What
was that for?”
"I...am not a
wench. You may go,” continues Mazaki sweetly, “if you
insist on death.”
“No!”
Jounouchi stands up, pinning Seto to a wall. “This is a trap,
you--*!”
Seto
yanks Jounouchi back on his fours with the leash. “It seems my
faithful hound eagerly wishes to join us on the hunt,” the
youth smiles.
Jounouchi
shakes his head vehemently, vainly struggling to escape Seto. Damned
fool--I’m trying to save your sorry life! And I don’t
even like you!
-
- - - -
The
six travelers come to the cave.
“In there?”
asks Seto, unsheathing his blade.
Otogi
nods. “I’ll go in first; you and my brother and sister
will follow, young slayer.”
“Stay back,”
snarls Jounouchi. “Turn back now!”
Seto
merely ignores Jounouchi, following Otogi inside.
Honda
grips Jounouchi by his neck. “You would be wise to leave this
fool to his fate,” he smiles wickedly. “Be a good dog,
now; and sit.” Honda and Kujaku follow Seto into the cave.
Jounouchi
stands, taking off the leash. “Enough is enough. I have to stop
this.” The ninja throws down his smoke bombs to vanish, and,
invisible, enters the cave.
Mokuba
sits down, ready to see dragons.
-
- - - -
Seto
meets a white dragon. “You said there were three
dragons.”
“Let’s
not disappoint him, sister,” grins Honda crudely as he
transforms. Kujaku, laughing cruelly, does likewise.
“...what...?
B-but that means....”
“Yes, human.”
The sibilant hiss comes from the first dragon. “I am Otogi. My
brethren behind you are Honda and Kujaku.”
“We are come to
avenge our brother Sugoroku’s death,” adds Honda.
Seto
smiles. “It is well, then. You shall meet the same end your
brother did.” He grips the hilt of his sword, donning a shining
silver-blue armor.
“The Blade
Knight’s armor?” wonders Kujaku. “No matter: you
will die all the same.”
The
dragons and Seto begin their battle; Seto narrowly dodging their
blows, while the dragons deftly elude his blade.
Seto
tries to smite Honda on the head, but Honda grabs the armored youth
with his tail, smacking Seto onto the walls until he was
semi-conscious.
Honda
flings Seto onto the back of the cave. Falling to the ground; Seto
loses his grip on his sword, and the armor disappears.
Honda
growls in dark triumph. “The whelp is ours.”
Seto
struggles to stand as the three dragons blue eyes glow. Their three
maws open wide, revealing the dragons’ burning white fire as
they prepare to incinerate Seto.
“Stop this!”
Jounouchi appears. “This stupid peasant is not worthy of your
righteous fire.”
“How dare you!”
roars Honda.
“Stand aside,”
adds Kujaku, “else you die as well.”
“Will this
bring the dragon Sugoroku back to you?” counters Jounouchi.
“Look at him! He’s naught but a bedraggled,
self-important little fool.
“You are
greater than him. Leave him alive, and preserve the memory of your
brother. Don’t dignify this lout by stooping to his level.”
“He...merits...death.”
Honda lowers his head to Jounouchi’s face, then shifts to his
human form. “But you are my friend, and your words have
purchased the whelp’s life for a time.
“Yet if he
crosses us again, he dies. We’ll not stay our hand again.”
Honda,
Kujaku, and Otogi leave the two humans. Seto finally rises to his
feet.
“I...I’ve
never felt...so alive....” Seto picks up his sword, using it to
prop himself up.
Jounouchi
rolls his eyes, then helps Seto walk out of the cave.
-
- - - -
“Hn. Not a
single dragon.” Mokuba pouts, bored.
The
three siblings walk out of the cave first.
Mokuba
runs to them. “Did you see the dragons? Did you slay them?”
He studies the youths and maiden carefully. “Is my brother
well?”
“...he lives,”
says Honda stonily.
“That’s
good,” sighs Mokuba, relieved. “I still haven’t
seen any dragons, though.”
Honda
smiles at his siblings, who smile back.
“Do you want to
see dragons, child?” asks Kujaku. Mokuba nods vigorously.
“Then see them
you shall,” says Otogi, changing into his white dragon form.
Honda and Kujaku follow suit; Kujaku taking Mokuba in her claws.
“Where are you
taking me!? cries Mokuba as he and the dragons ascend to the air...
...just
as Seto and Jounouchi leave the cave.
“Honda, wait!
The boy is innocent!” cries Jounouchi.
“As was our
brother Sugoroku,” counters Honda. “You didn’t
think the whelp would escape without paying a price, did you?”
“Seto-ani!”
cries Mokuba as the dragons fly off with him.
Seto
runs after them, only to stumble from his injuries. “MOKUBA!”
he cries, sinking to his knees. “Otouto-kun....”

Two:
An answer to a maid’s curiosity.
Kazuma leans over
Rapunzel, unwrapping her bodice carefully to reveal the creamy, pale
breasts beneath. The supple, pale tan-colored nipples harden as they
are exposed to the air. Rapunzel trembles slightly.
The
youth above her winces, struggling to keep his lust in check. This
gives Kazuma’s face a stony, savage expression that startles
Rapunzel further.
“This...won’t
hurt...will it?” asks Rapunzel.
“N-no; not at
all,” Kazuma hisses, trying to will away thoughts of sating
himself roughly inside her. He licks his lips, then leans over to
suck a breast.
He
licks a nipple, hardening it further. “This will please you
greatly,” whispers Kazuma over the nipple, letting his breath
blow over the hardening flesh. Kazuma envelopes the nipple in his
tongue, then begins to suck in earnest. He touches the other nipple
with his fingers.
Rapunzel’s
body tingles, her hips grinding reflexively into Kazuma’s; the
youth moves to the other breast with relish. She feels the hardened
shaft between his thighs. “Why does this part grow stiff when
we are close?” Rapunzel asks. “It did that before, when
we kissed.”
Kazuma
stops sucking her breasts, propping himself up to face her. “The
same reason your nipples harden. They like to be touched, felt.”
He grinds his hips into Rapunzel’s; her hips reciprocate. “What
else do you feel?” smiles Kazuma, continuing the pleasurable
dance.
“I...I
feel...damp. Down beneath.” Rapunzel looks at Kazuma, a mix of
lust and confusion in her eyes. The strange, dark burning in Kazuma’s
own eyes only adds to her feelings.
Kazuma
sees the look in Rapunzel’s eyes; feels her fingers gently
scrape his shoulder. Her delicate, half-clothed body writhes beneath
his in pleasure; this urges him further.
Rapunzel
receives Kazuma’s kiss gratefully, gripping his tunic tightly.
Her thighs encircle his waist as they continue kissing, Rapunzel
wanting more of that damp feeling as Kazuma’s hard
cloth-covered mass slides along the length of her sex.
-
- - - -
Tou-momoiroi
stands outside the tower, having returned an hour early from her tea.
“The one who tries to seduce my Rapunzel thinks himself clever,
does he?
“We shall see
what he does when he overstays his welcome,” she says to her
three apprentices.
Yanagisawa,
a young sorcerer, emerges from a camouflaged trap door. “I
heard a bit of moaning in Rapunzel’s bedchamber, sensei.”
“Still,”
counters his colleague Kaitoh, adjusting his spectacles, “I
don’t believe the lout has broken her yet. The spell I cast in
her bedroom hasn’t taken effect.”
“You mean the
one activated by a maid’s cry of pain as her virgin is torn?”
asks the third apprentice, Kido.
“Such a cry is
difficult to mimic,” muses Tou-momoiroi.
“I know the
fool didn’t abandon reason and thrust himself into her ass,”
Kido grins. “I cast a similar spell to Kaitoh’s that both
he and I could sense.”
“Then neither
spell has been triggered. Rapunzel’s lover hasn’t taken
her. Yet.” Kaitoh sighs.
“Hn. So what if
she gives herself to him?” scowls Yanagisawa. “You can’t
expect her to mew herself in that tower for life.”
“I know,”
adds Kido. “It’s probably some prince introducing her to
lust. They have a habit of doing that with maidens.”
“I want to see
this man,” says Kaitoh. “He could be a peasant whelp.
They can be adventurous maiden-seekers as well--when they’re
not vainly trying to slay giants or dragons.”
“A prince!
Peasant boys usually find noblewomen or princesses.”
“But Rapunzel
is a--*!”
“Yes, but he
doesn’t know--*!”
“Silence. I’m
going to check on my girl now. Yana, you will do as we discussed. You
others, away until I send for you again.”
“Yes, sensei.”
The three sorcerers bow and vanish.
-
- - - -
Kazuma
breaks off the kiss; Rapunzel kisses and licks along the youth’s
jaw. She gives Kazuma’s adam’s apple a faint suck as he
rises; their hips still grinding in tandem.
They
release a moment later, Kazuma feeling his seed spill in his
trousers. Rapunzel breathes deeply, eyes glazed in contentment.
Free
of the maid’s thighs, Kazuma gently moves off her. He runs his
fingers through her hair. “You are happy?” he smiles.
“...yes. You
are beautiful....”
“I...am
honored.”
Rapunzel and Kazuma
languidly fall asleep, the maid wrapped comfortably in the youth’s
strong arms.
Tou-momoiroi
cries from outside:
Rapunzel,
Rapunzel,
Let
down thy hair,
That
I may climb
Its
silken stair.
“Satou-kaasan!”
Rapunzel bolts up on hearing the familiar chant.
Kazuma
stirs awake, watching Rapunzel scramble to tie her bodice neatly.
“Chikuso! She’s here!?”
Rapunzel
nods. “Go under the bed!” she hisses. Kazuma obeys,
crawling under as the maid unfurls her hair out the window.
-
- - - -
Zombie-like,
Kazuma groggily enters his throne room, collapsing onto his throne.
“It took you
long enough,” quips Mitarai. “Was she that fine?”
The
young prince glares at his adviser.
“You have to
understand: it’s been months since we’ve seen you last.
Shinobu told us you were alive, so we thought you to be wooing your
maid,” says Okubo.
“Actually, no.
Shinobu trapped me in that general area; and I spent most of the time
trying to help Rapunzel-san learn of her birth parents.
“That led to a
dead-end. I only found a family of peasants, and I left them in
peace.”
“I see.”
Kazuma
trudged out of the throne room without another word. Sawamura follows
eagerly.
-
- - - -
“Just between
you and me, my prince,” grins Sawamura when he and Kazuma enter
the prince’s bedchamber. “How was she?”
“We did very
little. I basically pleasured her breasts, and we kissed.”
Kazuma blushes, not mentioning the delicious memory of Rapunzel’s
hips on his.
“You know
Mitarai won’t be happy to find that you didn’t produce an
heir.”
“If it’ll
make him feel better, I might have--had it not been for the old hag.
She came home, and sat with Rapunzel-san for hours. I’m certain
the witch saw my hands or feet quite a few times; and Rapunzel-san
isn’t given to deceit. I was lucky to make it out without the
hag seeing me outright.”
Shinobu
appears, chuckling. “Then it’s far too late to pull out
now--pardon the pun, my prince.”
“I owe it all
to you,” grins Kazuma bitterly. “Both of you: get out of
my sight.”
Shinobu
and Sawamura leave.
-
- - - -
Three:
The quest of a brother’s keeper.
“Wretch!”
Gozaburo pounds Seto’s head with his hiking stick. “This
is what comes of your absurd dreams. I’ve lost my son! To
dragons!”
Ami
cries, both at the loss of Mokuba and seeing her father enraged at
Seto.
“Need I remind
you,” hisses Seto, “that I’m your son as well?”
“To my eternal
chagrin. I’d disown you, had I the means to procure another as
hard-working.”
Noa
closes his book in shame.
“I tire
of living in this damned hovel.” Seto draws himself up to his
full height--taller than Gozaburo. “As does everyone else here,
including you. I wanted to do what was best for us all.
“Yet you would
condemn me, because of the acts of those dragons!?
“Mark my words,
father: I will bring Mokuba back to you, along with those dragons’
heads; or I won’t come back at all. Either way, you’ll be
rid of me.” Seto stalks out.
Mazaki
and Jounouchi quickly scurry out behind him.
-
- - - -
“It explains
Seto, all right.” Shrugging, Jounouchi continues walking. “My
father was even worse.”
“That man
Gozaburo. He’s very strange,” muses Mazaki. “Why
wouldn’t he want to leave this place? It’s in the middle
of the two warring kingdoms.”
“You know the
old saying: ‘A man’s home is his castle’.”
“True. But I
don’t think this place is his real home. And the way he
screamed and shrieked; it’s as though he’s lost a child
before.”
“Perhaps he had
a child before Seto; stillborn. My lady, there’s no point
trying to divine the woes of peasants.
“We should find
Seto, free Mokuba, and keep them both alive. I just used up Honda’s
last ounce of patience. He and the others took Mokuba out of spite.”
“Honda’s
usually the cool-headed one,” says Mazaki.
“He and Sugo
were close, according to Yuugi-kun.”
“Speaking
of....” Mazaki points to a short, slender youth in dark blue
robes. The young man wears a black buckled choker around his neck;
along with a large, upside-down pyramid hooked to a thick steel
chain.
“Yuugi,”
grins Jounouchi gaily, only to stop. Something about the young dragon
keeper gives the ninja unease.
“Jounouchi,
what is it?” asks Mazaki.
“Something
about our friend is different somehow. Maybe the eyes....”
Jounouchi studies Yuugi’s eyes, somehow less innocent. There
was a red glint amid the violet. The boy even seems taller to the
ninja.
“Your senses
are strong, Jounouchi.” Yuugi speaks, but with another’s
voice.
Mazaki
trembles. “Atemu....”
“Do not fear,
maiden. I don’t wish to devour you in this life.”
“That’s...nice
to know.”
“Why have you
possessed Yuugi?” demands Jounouchi.
“He completed
my Sennen Token, a complex jigsaw puzzle; proving himself worthy of
being my vessel.
“Now, as to
your friend Honda and the other white dragons: leave them and Seto
be.”
“If we do that,
Seto will be no more,” counters Jounouchi.
“We have to
save that lout--I owe him my life,” adds Mazaki.
“Leave them,
and come with me to the Keep,” orders Atemu-Yuugi. “The
only way for them to settle accounts is to fight. No dragon has ever
put a fight on hold.”
“We’re
going to Kisara-sama’s Keep?” asks Jounouchi.
Atemu-Yuugi
nods. “That is where my palace is, and where Mokuba is being
held.
“I have plans
for Seto myself, you see.”
“What kind of
pl--*?”
Jounouchi
cuts Mazaki off. “Seto has issues that he’s got to hash
out for himself. And the white dragons want this fight.
“You hear me,
Atemu? I’m trusting you.”
“You do well.
Come.” Atemu-Yuugi holds the two humans’ hands, and they
ascend into the clouds.
-
- - - -
It
rains. Seto lies on his back, letting the rain soak his clothes.
A
peach drops from the tree nearby, landing on Seto’s chest. The
youth picks it up, licks the juices off the peach’s fuzzy skin,
then bites into the refreshing fruit.
Seto
sits up, continuing to savor his peach; his lithe body drenched in
the rain.
As
he savors a memory.
-
- - - -
-
- - - -
“Damien! You
worthless scoundrel!” Mazaki bit at him as the lord touched her
chin.
“Again?”
Damien chuckled. “Biting me is what got you here at the first.”
“Untie me, you
bastard!” Mazaki struggled against the well-tied ropes.
Damien
watched the girl writhe in her futile effort to escape, the blue
sacrificial bride’s garments leaving little to his imagination.
He
sighed. “Had you been obedient, Anzu-chan,” said
Damien, “I would not have felt the need to punish you.
“Your father
left you in my care when he died; ever since then, you’ve
rebelled against me, even as a little brat of a girl.”
Mazaki
spat on him. Damien continued, hissing in her ear. “You
wouldn’t even let me break open your little cunt--you had to
burn me. Ran away for four years.
“No one defies
me, Mazaki; and lives. I thought that giving you over to the high
dragons would be a fitting end to you; as you love them so much.
“The high
priest Rishid has already summoned Atemu, Seth, and Malik. They
should arrive within the hour.” Damien gave a crude smirk to
the bound, scantily-clad girl. “I do hope they enjoy their
meal.
“They like to
defile their maidens first, I’ve heard. Your fruitless cries
for mercy will whet their appetites.” Bowing, Damien left.
“I’ve
got...to get out...of here!” Mazaki struggled in vain. The maid
sighed in defeat. “I hope...the dragons make their business
quick.”
“Dragons, you
say?” asked a tall, meanly-dressed youth.
Mazaki
looked the young man over. He had brown hair, a lean body with a bit
of muscle, and piercing blue eyes.
The
youth also had a noticeable erection. “So, peasant,”
Mazaki scowled, “have you come to have a go at me before the
dragons do?”
“No; your
brothel child’s costume distracted me from asking you about the
dragons before.” The youth turned away, quelling thoughts of
ravishing the bound, sensuous girl.
“Hn. You’re
a boor. Are you another self-styled dragon slayer? Many have died
before you, you know.”
“And I have
slain a white dragon. That’s one more than any before me.”
Mazaki’s
eyes widened. He’s the one that killed Sugoroku-sama? This
bandy-limbed, strangely handsome lout? His life is marked for death.
“Ah; you’re
beginning to understand,” smiled the youth, misconstruing
Mazaki’s astonished stare. “I can save you from the
dragons; I’ve been seeking them anyway.”
“...if you can
do this, and save me from them, then I am yours to do with as you
will.”
“You pledge
yourself to me, noble?”
Mazaki
nodded. “You peasants know the old rot: ‘nobles will do
anything to save their own skin.’ I guess you were right.”
“Actually,
you’re far too pure to be a common noble.” The youth
smiled, planting a kiss between her breasts. “At any rate, I’ll
slay the dragons and free you. Then my business is done here.”
A
monstrous blue colossus rose from the sea, stepping onto the dais.
Flanking the giant was a huge red serpent with two mouths and a
golden metal lion; both beasts hovering in the air. The lion landed.
The
blue giant spoke. “An exquisite maiden; isn’t she, boy?”
he asked the youth.
“Not for the
likes of you,” was the youth’s reply.
“Ho,”
crowed the lion. “Another fool hero, Seth.”
“Lesser dragons
have slain more worthy opponents,” added the serpent.
“I have slain
the white dragon Sugoroku,” said the youth plainly.
This
startled the three monsters momentarily. The youth gripped his
broadsword and made a single pass.
“You’ll
have to do better than that, boy,” chuckled Seth.
“You must
forgive me if I cannot. The three of you are already dead.”
“What do you
me--*!?” The three dragons’ heads fall off; they land
before the young dragon slayer.
“What I said.”
The youth turns to Mazaki. “It’s unfortunate. These
weren’t the dragons I wanted.” The handsome youth tore
off a scrap of his worn tunic, cleaning the blood off his blade.
Mazaki
gaped at the youth in shock. “Wh-who are you....”
Before
the youth could answer, Damien walked in; unaware of the slain
dragons.
The
lord noted something amiss. “What? You baita! You’re
still alive!? How?”
“The dragons
Rishid summoned seem to have lost their heads,” smiled Mazaki.
Damien
whirled around, noting the dead dragons and the dead high priest. He
then saw the slender, bloodied youth with the broadsword.
“I suggest you
untie this girl at once, Lord Damien, unless you wish to share their
fate,” scowled the young peasant. “I haven’t
forgotten how you cheated me of my winnings at carnival. My family
damn near starved because of you.”
“I-I’ll
free her, I’ll free her!” Damien tremblingly obeyed.
Mazaki clambered away from the sacrificial slab.
“You’re
free, maiden. I’ll find the three dragons I was seeking some
other time.” The youth turned to leave.
“Wait, said
Damien. “What dragons did you seek?”
“The rare
blue-eyed white dragons. There are only three left in the world.”
“You mean four,
boy.”
“No; I can
count, noble. I slew one of the four, and now there are only three.”
The youth again turned to leave.
“And you slew
three high dragons, whose power is even greater than the white
dragons you seek. Impressive,” smiled Damien. “I find
myself in actual need of your services.
“You know
enough of the white dragons to know of their prized secret. The Blue
Hearts.”
“Yes, I know of
them.”
“Let me make
you a proposition. If you slay the other three white dragons, and
bring me all four hearts, then not only will I repay what I owe you;
I shall give you the price a hundredfold.”
“This girl has
pledged herself to me; her womb will be suitable payment.”
“You heard the
lout, Damien,” smiled Mazaki. “I am his betrothed. Good
day.”
“I can’t
let you leave here with a noblewoman. Unseemly,” countered
Damien, snatching Mazaki back to him. “The lady Mazaki is under
my care.”
“Then why did
you leave her to die at the maws of these dragons?” asked the
youth.
“The girl was
in no real danger. I merely sought to teach her...respect...for a man
who has been like a second father. As I’m sure you’ve
noticed, she can be quite impertinent.” Damien pinched Mazaki’s
cheek.
“In any event,”
Damien continued, “the girl stays with me until you prove
yourself worthy of her. By slaying those dragons.
“Think of it as
an extra incentive. Go on; slay the dragons, and be quick about it.”
The
youth scowled, giving Mazaki a meaningful glance, then left.

Seto
finds Otogi playing a game of dice. “Where is my brother? Tell
me now, or I’ll send you to hell along with yours.”
Otogi
ignores Seto, only standing and tossing his dice in the air to
acknowledge the human’s presence.
“Answer me!”
“Tell me,”
smiles Otogi thinly. “How does it feel to realize that you may
never see your loved one again?”
“You will not
draw breath again. Call on your brother and sister.” Seto takes
out his sword.
Honda
and Kujaku descend almost immediately. “We nearly killed you
before, whelp,” Honda growls. “If you wish to die again,
we’ll gladly grant it.”
“Before, you
caught me by surprise. Now I’m fully prepared to face you.”
“Then let us
end it, mortal,” says Kujaku.
“Gladly.”
Smiling, Seto and the white dragons battle in the open field.

Four:
To storm the castle gates.
Mitarai
stands before an assembled group. “Makihara Sadao, the Soul
Eater. Hagiri Kaname, the Archer. Kamiya Minoru, the Death Physician.
Amanuma Tsukihito, the Gamesman.”
“And the
kingdom’s court jester,” chuckles Makihara. Amanuma
sticks out his tongue.
“Enough. The
demon Itsuki and Shinobu are with us; as is the lord Minamino. I,
Mitarai Kiyoshi--the Fist of Water--have called you here today. Our
mission--*”
“Our goal is to
help our prince with the maiden Rapunzel,” Hagiri finishes, to
the group’s relief. “Forgive me, Mitarai; you get
long-winded.”
Mitarai
scowls. “I suppose everyone knows their jobs, then.”
“Hai,”
grins Amanuma. “Kazuma-ouji will visit Rapunzel as
usual, and they’ll share this bottle of orange juice together.”
“Of course, the
juice will put them both to sleep,” continues Shinobu. “And
that’s where Itsuki-kun and Minamino--or, dare I say,
his friend Youko Kurama--enter the picture.”
Minamino
and Itsuki nod.
“Good. Our job
is to do battle with the old sorceress. I hate to do all of this
behind the prince’s back,” Mitarai continues, “however
our need for an heir trumps all other considerations.”
“Lord Damien
has created a new super weapon, according to my sources in the Saiba
Kingdom,” adds Hagiri. “It lacks only a power source.
“Once
completed, the weapon could destroy the Kuwabara Kingdom in one
shot.”
“That’s...bad,”
says Makihara.
“You understand
the importance of this mission, then.” Mitarai dons his yellow
cloak. “Let’s go, gentlemen.”

“You fight well
for a human,” hisses Otogi. “It’s almost a waste to
kill you.”
“But kill you
we will. You have no one to hide behind this time, boy.” Honda
opens his mouth to unleash his white fire.
“Enough!”
commands Atemu-Yuugi, appearing out of nowhere.
“I stand
corrected, human,” says Honda. “It seems some other fool
wishes to die first.” The three dragons turn to fire on
Atemu-Yuugi.
Seto,
still weak from battle, capitalizes on this lucky break. “Curse...of
the...Hexagram....”
Three
green circle/hexagrams bind the three dragons, effectively freeing
Seto.
The
youth rises, holding up three blank cards. “Karuto buranku:
tsubasa no uma-shiroi. Tojikomeru ken gokuin.”
“What the--no!”
Honda, Kujaku, and Otogi fall to Seto’s spell, locking them
onto the cards.
Seto
sighs. “It seems that the three of you are now at my mercy.”
The youth solemnly prepares to tear the cards in half.
“Don’t
destroy those cards, Seto.” A new, quieter voice speaks;
Yuugi’s own.
“And I should
heed you because...?”
“Because,”
Atemu awakens within Yuugi again. “I have your brother Mokuba.”
“What did you
say?”
“Come to
Kisara’s Keep. There, you will find your brother...and more.”
Scowling,
Seto follows the shorter youth.

END CHAPTER 3 ---
Author's
Notes:
In
a prior chapter, one of the three Blue Eyes is named Mai. I had
wanted to use Mai's last name, Kujaku. From this chapter forward,
it's all corrected.
Rapunzel/Yukina
doesn't lose her virgin here, folks.(that's later.) Hence the chatter
from the sorcerers and Kuwa himself.
The
translations of Seto's spell on the BEWDs:
