Yuki was waiting for me in the lobby. My tears hadn\'t quite dried, so he looked at me pitifully for once, and threw his arms around my shoulders as we left the hotel. I didn\'t know at first where he was taking me, but the traffic grew less dense and soon we were in a small park. We sat together on a bench facing a pond. We hadn\'t spoken a word to each other since we\'d left.
I was still clutching my small bag to my chest, hugging it so tight my knuckles were white. Yuki gently pried it away from me and set it on the ground by our feet.
“If you need to hold onto something, you can hold on to me…Baka” he added affectionately at the end. Now I wasn\'t quite sure why he called me that, but I dismissed it considering it as a pet name. I was hoping for a more….cuter pet name, but this will do.
Anyway, it was such a sweet, simple offer that I couldn\'t refuse. I slipped my arms under his, and we held each other as I calmed myself. I didn\'t cry any more, praise Buddha, and was too comfortable to be embarrassed. He stroked my back and pet my hair. I loved his soft touch. I wondered how it would feel to sleep in those arms, and smiled thinking I\'d find out soon enough.
After a while, I reluctantly let him go and sat up straight. Nothing was awkward between us, but I wasn\'t sure what other people would think. He turned to face me, one hand on my thigh, and his eyes were full of concern.
“Are you ok?” his hand reached up and lightly fingered my sore cheek. “Your face is bruising.”
I laughed shortly. “Suguru\'s a jealous bastard. You should see the rest of me!” I realized too late what I\'d said, but he didn\'t mention it. His mouth smiled at me, and I thought maybe he was trying not to laugh.
“So you fought.” He looked down at my bag. “I see you won.”
“Yes.” I said it a little proudly. I hadn\'t left exactly how I would have liked, but….given the chance to finish the fight, there\'s no way Suguru would have beaten me, anyway. Of course, he would never let me walk away unharmed, either.
He was still looking at me critically, his hand caressing my face. I was falling into that hand, wanting again to kiss his fingers and feel his hands running through my pink hair. I wanted him to touch me. At least I thought I did.
“Yuki…”
“…hm?”
“What—what happened last night?”
He dropped his hand into his lap, sitting up straight. “Last night?”
“Between us.”
He cocked his head thoughtfully. “That beer went straight to your head, huh?”
He laughed, but I wasn\'t smiling. I wanted an answer; I wanted him to be serious. He took the hint, and held onto both of my hands as he leaned forward, closing his eyes. I knew what he expected, and for once I was nervous with him. But I wanted his kiss.
I didn\'t close my eyes until our lips brushed, to make sure I didn\'t miss. I needn\'t have worried; he is a wonderful kisser, and led me right along. I was getting a hands-on learning experience right there, and the more of him I tasted the more I wanted.
He broke his mouth away from mine, gasping. “Tease!” he accused me. “Pretending you\'d forgotten…”
“But I have!” I cried in defense. “I mean, I remember…things, but it\'s all fuzzy. Do you understand? Nothing\'s clear.”
He sighed, and toyed with my small earrings. “Last night - in the car - we made out.”
“That\'s not all.”
“Isn\'t it?”
“I don\'t remember!”
He laughed at my confusion. It Suguru had ever tortured me this way I would have punched him. But I could never hit Yuki; it would have been like hitting a girl - not to be cruel, that\'s just the way it was. He was too delicate to knock around that way. I would never forgive myself if I had bruised Yuki\'s gorgeous face.
He was also very sensitive. He knew right away how frustrated I was, and how irritated I was getting. Not with him, of course, but all the same, he wanted me to be satisfied.
Looking at me seriously, Yuki said, “You unzipped your pants, and I---I touched you.”
“And?”
“And?”
“Is that all?”
I couldn\'t help but be disappointed when he answered “Yes.” My disappointment must have shown, because he squeezed my hands tightly. “You were soooooo wasted! You asked me to…and I wanted, but…I couldn\'t. Don\'t you see? It would have been like rape.”
I shivered deliciously at the thought. It didn\'t sound so unpleasant to me…
“The next time you ask, let\'s both be sober. Then we\'ll remember everything clearly.”
“You forgot, too? Then how do you know we didn\'t….”
“Trust me” he said, standing. “We\'d know”
It was a gorgeous day. The city looks so different when the sun is shining. We were both a little too hung-over to do much of anything, or get into any deep conversations. So he again linked his arm through mine and pulled me in the direction of the transport station.
The station was so crowded - I\'d hardly seen so many people in line for a transfer. We held hands while we waited, but it was too noisy to talk, and we didn\'t want to have to shout to hear each other.
When our number at last came up, we hopped into our port and the door closed. The bar beam started to light up, when suddenly he grabbed me and pressed his mouth firmly to mine.
I\'d never done anything like that before. Transferring is a strange experience every time, but try kissing while your particles are displaced, zipped to another location and thrown back together. Wow! It was like being drunk all over again, and I stepped out of the next port staggering. He caught me and squeezed me to him in an affectionate hug, then, throwing his arm around me, steered me away from this new station towards his home.
I was frozen in place when we finally stood at the gates. Until then I really hadn\'t realized just how wealthy he was. But suddenly it slammed me in the face, just as incredible as my experience in the transport. Huge platinum gates towered a story over our heads. I grasped the cool metallic bars and pressed my forehead against it, looking across a huge area that was the front year, but seemed more like a palace garden. A cobblestone walk led from the gate to the center of the yard, circling around an enormous angel statue fountain before continuing on. The yard was sprinkled with hundreds of different flowers, and well-trimmed bushes outskirted the scenery. It took a while for my eyes to greet the house, but when it did….I gasped, nearly staggering backwards just trying to see the roof of it.
The mansion - oh, yes, it was a huge mansion --- stretched an infinite number of stories, seemingly into the clouds. It was painted white, with what I guess to be thousands of windows elegantly placed all over. There were balconies galore, and the structure was supported in front by graceful columns all along the front.
Like I said, I was a bit dizzied by all that was going on. I mean, I had a hang-over, I\'d just had the most exciting kiss ever from Yuki, and now this over-whelming monster of a house! I didn\'t faint exactly, but I kind of blacked out for a second, and found myself leaning heavily on Yuki as he typed the pass code into the big key panel. The gates opened wide in front of us, and we entered the enchanted world.
I don\'t know how he ever got me into the house, I was so charmed by the outside - especially that fountain—but at last he managed, being as patient as ever. The foyer looked like a throne room, with a massive stairway ahead leading to the balconied floors above us. He stopped me from going along the path, however, in favor of a crystalline lift {modern-day `elevator\'}. It moved up the side of the wall slowly, giving me an opportunity to check out the floors below me. It made me dizzy all over again, and I closed my eyes, leaning head on Yuki\'s shoulder. He held me to him, his lips pressed softly to my forehead.
At last the lift came to a halt and I opened my eyes, through reluctantly. He smiled at me. “You\'re tired. I\'m going to take you to your room.”
“My own room?” I was overwhelmed. I shared a room with K and Suguru at home.
“Don\'t worry, it\'s connected to mine. There\'s only a door to separate us, so we an spend all the time together we want.”
We stepped out of our glass encasement into the hall. I\'m serious when I call this place a palace. We were walking on a red carpet. The walls and ceiling were white—spotlessly—and portraits hung all along the hall. There were small, potted trees on either side of every door. All the door were closed; I wondered vaguely if they were all bathrooms.
“How many people live here?” I asked incredulously.
“My parents, myself, my sister, and my two brothers.”
“That\'s all?!” such a house for only six people?
He laughed. “Well, of course there are the maids, butlers, gardeners and the rest of the people my father employs. He needs this space to host calls and things, since he\'s a government official. It\'s all part of the job!” I loved the way he put that; he never once called the workers `servants\' or any other degrading term. Perhaps that is what attracted me to him the most - he really believed himself equal to everyone else, no matter how many times in the following weeks I told him otherwise. He was above everything I\'d ever known in my life. Not just in status, but in respect to manners, grace and personality. He was really so naturally modest that he didn\'t realize, or believe it. He took nothing - no one - for granted, no matter how seemingly unimportant…like, for example, me.
He stopped in front of a doorway, squeezing my hand before letting it go to enter his code into the panel. “It may seem like a hassle,” he explained, “but I\'ve raised such that privacy is priority.” The door swung open. “Except between us, of course. Everything I have is yours; I want to share everything with you.” If his comment had any underlying meaning, he didn\'t show it or go into detail. I think it was just his genuine, effortless kindness towards to me.
He walked inside, holding the door open for me. It was all I could do to get myself in the doorway, I was so awed. His bedroom was more than twice the size of our living room at home, and the walls were plastered with Nittle Grasper posters---many of them, I noticed, autographed. The carpet was a blue-gray, the furniture light-colored oak. The large bed was up on a low platform, like a stage, and had a blue and white checked quilt. There was a lot of open space in the middle of the floor, several dressers and a walk-in closet in the back of the room next to the window, and a huge stereo took up one whole wall. I\'d never met anyone with so much space to themselves.
He really didn\'t let me linger, but went straight to the left side of the room, where there was another door. It opened with a simple, unlocked knob, and he went through calling for me to follow. After tearing my eyes away from it all, I entered into what would be my room, only slightly smaller than the one I\'d just left. This one was done all in white, except for the dark cherry furniture, and had a DV in place of a stereo.
Yuki set my suitcase on top of a dresser and opened the long, white drapes, allowing warm sunlight to spill in from the open windows. “If you feel half as tired as I do, I know you\'re aching for a nap. Go ahead and rest for a while. I\'ll call you when dinner\'s ready.” He paused at our joint door. “if you need to go to the bathroom, you can use your main exit—it\'s straight across the hall with the gold knob. I\'ll write your pass code down for you later, but for now you can knock at my door so I can let you back in. See you later Shu-chan” Is that another pet name? I wondered.
I started to say something, I don\'t know what—maybe “Thank you.” But no words would come, so he just smiled and returned to his own room, gently closing the shared door.
You\'d think with all the excitement I\'d want to explore further, but I was so tired I took my nap right away. The covers were so soft and clean I was almost afraid to use them, but I was too exhausted to care. I sank onto the comforter and fell asleep almost instantly.
When I awoke, Yuki was placing some clean clothes in the drawer of a dresser. “Did I wake you? Dinner won\'t be ready for another hour, if you\'d like to sleep some more.”
“Nope. I\'m awake.” I sat up and swung my legs over the side of the bed. I was a little nervous about dinner. Mostly about meeting his family. What would they think? Did they know?
“My parents are going to be gone fore the week—you know, business,” he said as in response to my fears. “We can just eat in our rooms. My brothers and sister can get rowdy.”
“I know how that goes.” Suguru.
He looked at me sympathetically, then tactfully changed the subject. “I saw you didn\'t bring much stuff with you, so I brought in some of my clothes. I picked out the smallest clothes I own, hopefully they will fit.”
I gave him a half-smile, distracted by the graceful movements of his body. Those delicate hands had touched me…
My eyes traveled to his face, almost pleadingly. He saw I really wasn\'t paying much attention anymore to what he was saying. He cocked his head thoughtfully, then approached me. He leaned toward me, and I thought he was going to kiss me. But his eyes remained open, and his hands grasped my shoulders, gently pressing me back down onto the bed. I heard him breathe deeply against my ear as he pressed his lips to my neck. I whimpered aloud. I didn\'t mean to --- it was a genuine reaction to what he was doing to me. But I\'d never heard a sound like that come from my own throat, and I was suddenly embarrassed. I kind of stiffened up then, somewhat ashamed he\'d heard me, and I was almost cold to him.
But my sweet, patient Yuki warmed me with his hands on my arms, and now kissing my face. His lips touched my chin, cheek, eyes, noise, and at last brushed my lips. He murmured with his mouth again mine, and so I brought my arms up to clasp his back, pulling him down on me. He put his hands on either side of my head kissing my mouth passionately. Then he stopped.
He pulled me off the bed and, standing, held me in his arms for several minutes, our hearts pounding furiously against each other. It felt wonderful to be in his embrace. After a while he began to back away.
“Don\'t let me go.” I clung to him.
He laughed, petting me and then kissing my head. “Aren\'t you hungry?” He added more softly, “There\'ll be plenty of time to play later.”
We left through the main door and he took me across the hall to the bathroom where we washed our hands. I almost started a friendly water fight when he accidentally splashed me, but I figured that wouldn\'t be quite the thing to do, since I was a guest. My mom wouldn\'t like it if some visitor of ours had made a mess of our bathroom. Then again, we only had the one…
We returned to his room, where we found a pair of trays now sitting on a low table in the in the center of the floor. It smelled wonderful, and tasty. We sat on a little pillow-cushions as we ate, sampling each little dish. Fair amount of food for him, surely, but to me it was like a banquet. For a time there was only the sound of our chewing often accompanied by an “Mm!!” but he stopped suddenly and put his chopsticks down halfway through the meal. Wiping his mouth delicately on his cloth napkin, he said, “We need music!” He went over to the stereo and hit a button. Low, classical music seemed to pour from all around the room to softly fill the silence. He did some weird clap with his hands, and the lights began to dim, before returning to the table.
By this time the sun had set and the room was pretty dark. The scene was a romantic one - soft music playing, a nice dinner, and low lights….shining on Yuki\'s golden hair.
There was wine with the meal, and he insisted we each have a glass (A/N: reminds me of an alcoholic xP). The stuff went straight to my head and though I only had a little, I became suddenly sleepy. I didn\'t want to disappoint him, though, and was as enthusiastic as I could manage to be when he suggested we dance.
This is it, I thought. A little head banging to Nittle Graspers…then I\'m going to puke.
Head banging was probably the last thing on Yuki\'s mind. A slow love ballad started up, and he took me into his waiting arms in a sweet embrace. I\'d never really danced before. I acted a little silly at home when listening to my CDs, but slow-dancing with someone you like is an entirely different situation, believe me. His arms held me tightly around the waist, pulling me to him comfortably. I slipped my arms around his shoulders and he buried his face into my neck. His lips found my throat, and he kissed me so gently. A little shiver ran through my body and I dared to kiss him back. Our lips met and held passionately. I had only one thing in my mind and was eager to pursue. I let my tongue slide into his mouth, pleased when he moaned and hugged me tighter. I was more forceful and demanding with my lips and somehow we found ourselves stumbling over to the bed. He pushed me backwards onto the mattress, pouncing on top of me. The bed rocked…and rocked…ah! A water bed! So luxurious! What a rare, expansive item to have in one\'s room. We were kissing like hungry wolves; he flung his shirt to the floor and I grabbed him to me. He lightly bit my neck under my ear. It tickled, and I couldn\'t help the giggle that escaped….or the hiccup.
He stopped so suddenly I almost hadn\'t realized he\'d done it, except he wasn\'t responding to my touch anymore, and he wasn\'t touching me. I opened my eyes to look at him; he was sitting up over me, his eyes closed. He swallowed hard as he caught his breath.
“Yuki…”
He squeezed his eyes shut, hard. “Damn.” It startled me that he swore, making me think I did something wrong. He flung himself off the bed almost violently and, staggering, went to reclaim his tossed-aside T-shirt.
I sat up on the bed and watched him re-dress. “Yuki….” I said again, unsure of how to continue.
“No,” he muttered. “Not now…not like this. You\'re drunk.” He stared at me for what seemed for a long time, but I\'m not sure. “I—I\'m going to get a shower. You should go to sleep.”
That was all, then he left. I stayed awake, hoping he\'d return soon. I thought I laid awake for a long time, but I\'m not sure. Eventually I fell asleep on his water bed, and when I awoke in the morning I was still alone.
