Blue
Feeling unusually cold, Tohma woke to see his singer sprawled out every which way next to him. Ryuichi had kicked the covers down to the bottom of the bed. Tohma didn’t doubt that he’d been too warm—even now, uncovered, his body radiated heat like a furnace. The keyboardist stood up, the cool floor under his feet making him wonder absently whether Ryuichi would mind sharing body heat; he smiled at the fanciful thought, sliding into slippers and padding into the kitchen to make breakfast. It was earlier than he needed to be up, but he didn’t feel very tired. Luckily, his pre-programmed coffee maker turned on a few seconds later and by the time the coffee was ready he’d made two pieces of toast. He put the bread on a plate and poured a cup of the caffeinated substance before situating himself in a chair in his dining room, looking out the windows toward the dawning Tokyo skyline.
Almost half an hour later he distantly heard his alarm go off. He cocked his head wryly, waiting for the crash that would signal the slumbering singer’s acknowledgement of the disruptive noisemaker. There it was, and Tohma had no doubt he’d need to buy a new one. His fingers tapped out a new rhythm on the table, stilling when arms encircled him from the side. Soft, gentle lips pressed to his cheek before a sleep-laden voice reached his ears.
“Ohayo, Toh-chan.” Ryuichi nuzzled against him tenderly for a moment more before yawning and moving into his kitchen.
The blond let out a breath and consciously unclenched. He didn’t have any basis to object to the singer’s behavior; Ryuichi was never very aware when he first woke, and Tohma couldn’t bring himself to be angry for the slip back into old habits. After all, he wasn’t even married anymore, and his singer had never been particularly good at hiding his emotions even when he wanted to. Now that he and Mika had separated, Ryuichi had been none-too-subtle in his attempts to reinsert himself into his ex-lover’s life. That he had been the one to force them apart wasn’t forgotten, but it had been Tohma who had refused to forgive him when he’d tried to reconcile them by convincing the other that he hadn’t realized how big his mistake had been.
Listening to the noises from the kitchen, Tohma sighed, pulling himself away from the vista of the brilliant sky to help his more-than-friend until he became alert enough to function without aid.

AN:
Well, it’s short, yes. But I needed this to lead in to the next one, which is also up now. So, whatever. And the prompt was the color of the sky…though reading back through it, I think it could also work for the mood too… but, again, whatever.
Hope you enjoyed! Review, please?
