Chapter 3
Serena stood at her closet staring at her clothes. Tonight, she was going on a date with Darien. The day after she and Darien made their plans, she had told her parents. They were happy that she and Darien had found each other again and were looking forward to meeting him. At dinner she would explain to Darien that her parents and brother knew about their past lives.
Serena had also explained to her parents and Sammy how Luna didn't remember much and to keep it to themselves that she was the Moon Princess. Serena explained how she theorized that Queen Serenity had sent Luna with partial memories for a reason. The three said they would keep silent on that front.
'Could it be because of how Luna had been back then?' Serena wondered as she pulled out one of the dresses she had bought at the mall the other day with the girls.
Serena thought back to the Silver Millennium and recalled Luna at that time. Luna had been all about protocols and what was proper of a Princess. When it was obvious that Serenity and Endymion were falling for each other, Luna had appointed herself as chaperon for the pair. The two could have no privacy with the feline on their heels.
Queen Serenity and Endymion's parents, King Cathious and Queen Ember, however did not see eye-to-eye with Luna. Serena giggled as she remembered talking to Endymion about it. She had joked to him that their parents were all but pushing them into bed together. Endymion had only laughed before pulling her into his arms and kissing her.
'Perhaps that wasn't too far off. After all, our parents had been in arranged marriages and they had vowed not to do so with Endymion and myself.' Serena thought slipping into the dress.
"Where are you going Serena?" Luna asked, jumping onto the bed.
"I have a date tonight Luna." Serena answered moving in front of her floor length mirror.
"A date? Serena, you are not a normal teenager." Luna sighed.
Serena turned and faced the feline from Mau. "Luna, I am very much aware of that. You also forget that unlike you I do remember what the Princess looks like. I know I have a destiny as a Sailor Scout, but you need to know that Queen Serenity sent me and the other Scouts here not just for our protection, but to have normal lives. Something we were unable to have given our status during the Silver Millennium."
Luna had the grace to look a bit shamed. Serena had decided when she brought Luna home with her, that history was NOT going to repeat itself. That included having Luna dictate every waking moment of her life. She had often suspected back then that Luna was in some way living vicariously through her.
Sighing, she sat on the bed beside Luna. "Look, I understand where you are coming from. I remember how you were back then with Princess Serenity. What you need to remember is that things are different here. We're in a different time. The protocols of the life of a royal of the Silver Millennium are out of place here on Earth in this time."
"What do you mean? It's improper for a young lady and young man to be alone unsupervised." Luna huffed.
Serena giggled. "Luna, I think you need to talk with mom about what is and isn't proper when teenagers are dating nowadays."
At that moment, the doorbell rang. Serena glanced at her watch and smiled. Darien was right on time. She grabbed her purse from the back of her chair and made sure that Luna saw her putting her broach in it before leaving the room. She walked downstairs and found Darien shaking hands with her dad.
"It's nice to meet you Darien." Kenji greeted.
"You too, Mr. Tsukino." Darien nodded. Darien turned and spotted Serena. "Wow. You look…beautiful."
"Thank you." Serena smiled, taking in his appearance. "You look very dapper yourself."
Darien sent her a wink, before extending the bouquet of wild flowers to her. "I thought you would like these."
"They're beautiful." She sighed, lifting them to her face to smell them. "Thank you."
"Well, you two better get going and I'll put these in a vase and sit them on your desk for you." Ikuko offered.
"Thanks mama."
"You two have fun." Ikuko giggled, heading for the kitchen.
"Darien, I'm trusting you with my little girl. I take that very seriously." Kenji stated.
"Daddy…" Serena began.
"I understand sir. I swear I will take good care of her. Serena told me her curfew is midnight on weekends so I will have her home in plenty of time." Darien promised.
Kenji studied him before nodding. Fighting the urge to roll her eyes, Serena looped her arm through Darien's and tugged him toward the door. She could feel her dad watching from the window as Darien opened the door of his car and help her inside. Only once they pulled away from the house did she let out a sigh.
"Oh man. I am so sorry about my dad." She said.
Darien chuckled, "Serena, there's no need to apologize. In fact, though I only met King Solan a few times, Kenji reminds me of him in a lot of ways."
Serena thought about it a moment, "Hey, you have a point there."

Graphite stood in what would be his base of operations. It was an abandoned mansion outside the city. It was perfect. Surrounded by trees and miles away from anyone. He could come and go as he pleased. Before leaving D-Point, Beryl had instructed him one what his task was. Collect energy for their master Metallia, but also search for the Moon Princess, the Silver Crystal and Prince Endymion.
'Even over a thousand years later the hag is still obsessed with Endymion.' Graphite sneered. 'She thinks I don't know her plans to destroy Metallia and try to take over Earth herself. Well, I guess I better make sure I stay on her good side. Should she succeed.'
He reached into his tunic and pulled out his crystal shard. "Come forth Germana. I have a job for you."
"You summoned me my Lord." German asked as she materialized before him.
"Yes. We must collect energy from these humans for Metallia."
"I have been studying them since Queen Beryl awakened us. It seems that humans spend copious amounts of energy preparing for dates. I have also learned that Saturday nights are a favored time for humans to go on them." Germana explained.
"Excellent. Go. Find us fresh energy for our masters." Graphite ordered.
Germana bowed and disappeared. Alone again, Graphite walked to one of the large windows and stared out in to fading sunlight. He hoped that Germana was successful in her first venture.

Serena sat across from Darien and studied the menu. "Everything sounds delicious."
"Nephrite said this was supposed to be one of the best places in town." Darien said.
"Well, guess we'll have to see for ourselves." She giggled as the waiter approached.
"Have we decided?" the waiter asked.
Serena and Darien placed their orders and with a slight bow, the waiter walked off. "So, you mentioned in one of your texts that we needed to talk." Darien stated.
"We do." Serena nodded before picking up her drink. "Darien, I know we both have our memories of back then. However, we were reborn for a reason."
Darien lifted a brow. "What do you mean? Are you talking about the Scouts?"
"No. I'm referring to something that I once told my mother just before you proposed. I told her once that I wished you and I had been…different. That we weren't royal. All the protocols, the expectations that were on both of us. I envied the common people of both Earth and the Moon.
"I had snuck out of the palace once. I was maybe, sixteen then. I went to the village that was just outside the palace and went into one of the pubs there. I sat in the back and just watched my subjects. Common people. Lovers just being with each other, no responsibilities, no rules to follow." She explained.
"Ah, I think I understand now. But what does that have to do with us being reborn?" he asked.
"Well, Mother of course found out I had snuck out. Instead of being angry at me like I thought, she simply asked why. I told her that while yes I loved you and was hoping you would propose, I also wished that you and I could have just been normal. Like the people in village. When she sent us here, she made that come true.
"Unlike the past, now you and I can have a chance to really get to know each other. In this life. You said yourself that I was different than I was. I sensed the same in you, Darien. THAT's what I want us to explore." She answered.
Darien reached out and took one of her hands. "I would like that too. I'm also relived to hear you say that." At her arched brown he chuckled. "Since I was about thirteen or so, I've had all these memories of my life as Endymion. Of our love. Yet, growing up in this life as an orphan with no memory of my family, I had a fear too."
"Whisper your fears and I'll give you my strength." She said.
"Huh?"
"It's something my grandpa used to tell me when I was little and was scared. It means, share your fears with someone you love and it will give you strength."
"Oh. Well, I feared that when I found you again, I never doubted that, that well, that you would love me ONLY because of who we used to be and not who I am now."
Serena squeezed his hand. "I have that same fear Darien."
"Then right here, right now, let's just forget all of that. Like you said, we're normal people. We're not royalty in this life. Just a guy and a girl on their first date." Darien smiled.
"I say, you have a deal Dairen Shields. So, the girls said that Zoisite told them you want to be a doctor. What field of medicine are you aiming for?"
"I haven't thought about that yet. I mean, it's all so fascinating. I'm kind of starting to lean towards a surgeon. Maybe a cardiac surgeon. I know it would mean a lot of school and hours, but it also looks so rewarding."
"I could picture you as a heart surgeon. Lord knows there aren't enough cute surgeons in the world." She teased.
"And how would you know that?" he challenged taking a sip of his own drink.
"Ami's mom is a doctor. She's a surgeon actually, but I think her field is a pediatric surgeon. Anyway, last year she let Ami invite me and the other girls to a get together she was holding. It was a lot of fun and it gave me and the girls to see our Ami shine. I think all the doctors there were surgeons and mostly men too, but only one or two were handsome." She shrugged.
Darien was silent a moment before he started laughing. In seconds, Serena was laughing right along with him. She looked over at him and smiled. Her heart did flip-flops at the look she saw in his cobalt eyes. Yes, he was remembering their past, how could he or she not, but there was something else. The way he looked at her now was unbridled. Nothing holding him back. She liked it. A lot. She wanted to see more of him like that.
The waiter appeared with their food just as their laughter died down. She sighed at the heavenly smells assaulting her. Not waiting, she took that first bite and moaned quietly, completely missing the look in Darien's eyes when she did.
"Oh my god. This is…almost sinful." She sighed, opening her eyes.
"I know of something else that's sinful." He stated.
"Oh?" she inquired.
"The sound you made when you took that first bite. I swear Serena, I may have been a Prince in a former life, but I'm still a red-blooded man." He said.
Serena smiled slowly. Oh he had no idea what he was doing. Yes, as Serenity she had been a bit, ok a lot, reserved when it came to anything sexual. Endymion had always taken charge there and she had enjoyed that. But SERENA had none of the inhibitions her former self had.
She lifted her fork again and slowly, sensually, took another bite of her pasta. This time, not taking her eyes off Darien. She enjoyed seeing the surprise and heat that reflected back at her. Oh they were going to have fun getting to know each other.
"You are quite a minx Serena." He growled.
"Yep and don't forget it." She giggled.

Luna was walking around the city just taking everything in. As Serena had suggested, she had a talk with Ikuko about the courting rituals of this time. What Ikuko told her had been a bit of a surprise. How young ladies and young men were given lots of free rein when it came to courting.
'My goodness. I can't believe how…primitive this time seems.' Luna thought. 'Boys and girls galivanting on their own with little to no supervision. Well, at least the older ones.'
Luna looked up and spotted a young couple about Serena and Darien's ages walking out of a movie theater. She paused and just studied them. They were holding hands and the young lady was looking up adoringly at the guy. The look they both were giving each other was obvious. There was adoration, respect, yet lust too.
Something about that look tugged at Luna's memory. Like she had seen that look before between the Princess and the Earth Prince she had been betrothed to. Luna seemed to recall voicing concerns to Queen Serenity about anything physical happening between the two before they were properly wed. She also remembered Serenity laughing and telling her she worried too much.
Luna shook her head as the memory faded. Like most times, the image of the Princess she was supposed to find and guide, along with the Prince were hidden in shadow. She almost chastised herself for getting lost in the memories when she sensed it.
Alert, she took off running toward the theater. Carefully she snuck in and going into the first screening room, she found the reason for what she sensed. In front of the screen a woman, or what looked like a woman was floating. The darkened room was illuminated by the light of the energy being drained from the people, mostly couples.
"Yes, yes. Give your energy to the Nega Verse." Germana laughed.
Luna ran from the room and noticed a similar glow coming from the other screening rooms and the lobby. As people started collapsing, she bolted for the doors. She needed to find Serena and fast.

Darien wrapped his arm around Serena's shoulders as they left the restaurant. "I had a lot of fun tonight Serena."
"Me too Darien." Serena smiled, leaning into him more.
"It feels so nice. Just you and me." He commented.
"Yeah it does. Oh, you might want to tell the guys that my girls liked meeting them." She grinned.
"Yeah? Hmm, seems we're not the only ones getting a second chance." He grinned. He then frowned, seeing a cat running toward them. "Um, Serena? Isn't that Luna?"
Serena looked up and saw Luna make eye contact and dart into a nearby alley. "Yeah. Give me a sec. Something must be wrong." He nodded and she hurried to the alley, looking both ways before slipping in after Luna. "Luna, what's wrong?"
"Oh Serena. It was awful. There was this woman and she was draining energy from people." Luna gasped out.
"So it begins. Where?" Serena said.
"The theater. Three blocks east." Luna answered.
Serena nodded and hurried back to Darien. "Looks like my peace time is over. Luna says the Nega Verse is attacking at a theater three blocks east. I have to go."
"Go. Just be careful." Darien replied.
She kissed his cheek and returned to the alley. Darien himself hurried to another as he felt the call of his own powers when she transformed.

Germana was thrilled as she sent yet another crystal full of energy to Graphite. "So much energy."
"Yeah and you're going to give it all back too."
"Who's there?" Germana demanded.
"I am Sailor Moon, and you have no right to this planet or its inhabitants." Sailor Moon stated from the door of the screening room.
"Never heard of you, but no matter. After I'm through with you no one else will either." Germana sneered.
Sailor Moon waisted no time and threw her tiara. It hit it's mark, the orb of energy before Germana. A second later another tiara connected with the crystal Germana was holding.
"NO!" Germana screamed as the energy she had collected disappeared back into the humans. "You'll pay for that!"
"Come and get me then." Sailor Moon challenged before leaping up into the rafters of the room.
She knew this theater had roof access only because of her dad. Last year he had written an article about the building. It had been an old factory and there were sky vents to to help with ventilation. Those vents were still there. Finding one, she pushed it open and slipped onto the roof.
She knew she needed to get the youma away from innocent people. Seconds after reaching the roof she heard Germana behind her. Smirking, Sailor Moon began leaping from roof top to roof top. She quickly spotted the perfect place.
"You'll die slow!" Germana threatened.
Sailor Moon had just landed in the abandoned parking lot of an old shopping complex when an energy blast came at her. She barely managed to leap away. 'Damn, she's fast.'
Germana threw three blast at her one after the other. Sailor Moon dodged two of them and was staring down the third when suddenly she was airborne. But not from the blast. No, SOMEONE was holding her.
"What the hell?" Sailor Moon gaped.
"Name's Tuxedo Mask. At your service." Tuxedo Mask smirked.
Before Sailor Moon could speak, Germana had thrown yet another energy blast at her and Tuxedo Mask. He dodged it and landed a few feet away and sat her back on her feet. "Think we need to take care of her."
Sailor Moon faced Germana as she appeared in front of them. "That the best you got?"
"Oh I'm just getting warmed up." Germana smiled, lifting her hands above her head.
Sailor Moon didn't hesitate and summoned her Crescent Wand. "Tell Beryl she'll have to do better when you see her in hell. Moon Healing Escalation!"
Germana screamed as she was hit by the energy from Sailor Moon's Crescent Wand. She glowed green for a moment before turning to ash. As the wind blew through the parking lot, the ashes scattered. Sighing, Sailor Moon turned and faced Tuxedo Mask as Luna came running up.
"Who are you?" Luna demanded.
Tuxedo Mask smiled a little, "Let's just say, I'm a friend of the Moon Princess. It's my task to help Sailor Moon and her Scouts when they need it." He then faced Sailor moon and allowed his mask to become transparent around his eyes. "I will be here even when you can't see me. Know you aren't fighting alone."
'Darien!' Sailor Moon gasped mentally as he leapt off into the night.
"Sailor Moon, are you alright?" Luna asked.
"Yes Luna, I'm fine. Well, that's something I didn't see coming." Sailor Moon answered.
