Thirty-Four
Shun stretched, nodding as he yawned. "Thanks
for letting me stay, guys, I guess it would be best for me to remain here 'til
morning. Suka-chan will probably be so confused that he won't even
realize I'm gone. I know that I'd pretty much want to sleep it all
off." He smiled, thanking the two again.
Shinobu got to his feet, waving off the gesture.
"Don't worry about it. What are friends for? Everything will
be resolved tomorrow, if not sooner." He managed a grin, standing to
change into his sleep apparel. Neither Shun nor Mitsuru seemed to mind,
Ikeda watching with a bit more of an interest. Shun didn't even register
it until Shinobu had climbed into his bunk and shut off the light.
"Good night."
Shun waved, Mitsuru getting into his own and shutting his
curtain. A few minutes later, a set of day-clothes fell to the floor and
his bid of a good night was also cast out. Shun returned it with his own oyasumi nasai, tucking his robe tighter as he
pulled a pillow from the side of the kotatsu. He turned it over and he
slipped under the table, pulling the covering up a little on his waist.
Sure, it seemed a little early to go to bed, but with so much on his mind, it
might be good to settle his nerves. Added to that, the faster he go to sleep
the soon he could go see Kazuya.
Er, wait, maybe sleep isn't the
best idea, then. . .
Yet, it occurred, an hour or so gone by. Shun
didn't really have a grasp on what time it was, no alarm clocks in sight and
his watch being in his room. He had a feeling it hadn't passed midnight
and was wondering if Hasukawa had yet managed to get to bed. There hadn't been
a knock on the door, so he hadn't tried to stop by. Shun didn't really
feel tired. He was anxious, if anything. The fate of his love was
in the next room, after all.
I mean, yeah, really.
He tossed a bit, quietly turning under the table as the
rustle of leaves made their pass outside. He glanced up, frowning as the
wind howled, mocking his insomnia. Sighing he shut his eyes for a moment,
refocusing on the two beds that sat in his line of path. Blinking once or
twice, he made a certain discovery that would either lead to him having his own
head troubles or something much more meaningful.
Sitting up, he took quick notice to the fact that
Mitsuru's curtain was wide open and that the boy was not, accordingly, in his
bunk. Covering his mouth with his hands, his sharp ears perked up as
sounds came to Shun, eluding more to the idea that he was not, in fact, going
crazy. As quietly as he could, he got to his knees, listening with slowly
disappearing disbelief to a reality he could simply not comprehend.
Mitsuru was not in bed.
Rather, that was incorrect to say. Mitsuru was
instead not in his own bed. Shinobu's curtain was drawn and the
now-evident and crystal clear sounds of two people floated from behind
it. Two people doing what,
however, was the discovery that really peaked Shun's interest. Crawling
forward a bit, he stopped instantly upon hearing a low moan.
"Shinobu, not there. . ."
"You liked it before."
"Ouch! Too hard!"
Shun stumbled to his feet as he heard a dual groan, a
creak from the bed swimming through on the air on the heel of voices.
"Alright, on three, then."
"I dunno if I'm ready. . ."
"Just relax, you're way too tense for this.
One. . ." Shun's fingers graced the doorknob, his face stricken
white. "Two. . ." The hallway was noted with a presence.
"Three!"
Click.
Behind the curtain, Shinobu peeked up over a manga,
letting it rest in the cross of his legs. "Well, that was much
easier than expected." Mitsuru chuckled, turning a page in his own as he
gave not a glance to his fellow prankster.
"What I have yet to discern," he began slowly,
"is whether or not you did that for Shun's sake of for your own personal
agenda."
"Well," Shinobu said, plain-faced as he put the
novel away. "Which would you prefer?"
"Somewhat of a copout, don't you think?"
Mitsuru just grinned as he caught a glimpse of Shinobu crawling forward.
He felt a palm rest on his knee as he peered up and over his manga.
"Considering what the results will be, I really
don't think it being a copout makes that much of a difference."
"Point taken."
Shun brought his hand down into his fist, the halls
somewhat busy as a few residents passed him on their ways to and from the
baths. Greenwood
was winding down, too early for some, yet too late for others. It was
just Shun stuck in the limbo between. Murmuring to himself he took a deep
breath as he stepped over, placing a hand on the door to his room.
Without so much as a second though he made his way in, taking the sempais'
either very effective hint or their very sloppy behavior as a persuasion to go
back to his room. He shut the door behind him, raising a brow as he was
met with an empty greeting. He sighed, light from the corridor bathing
the dark and empty room in yellow.
Damnit.
