Chapter 4: Awakening

Sanzo was exhausted. After all, it wasn�t
easy running after an all powerful creation of the earth. There was nothing
more that he wanted to do right now than rest his battered body, close his eyes
and sleep for hours. But he couldn�t do all of that. All he can do is rest for
a while and wait until Goku wakes up. He didn�t want a part two of what occurred
earlier.

He didn�t even dare close his eyes for
fear of falling asleep unintentionally. So instead, the monk gazed at his slumbering
monkey. Yes. Goku was his monkey. After
the blonde realized his feelings for the saru, he now freely admitted, at least
to himself, that Goku was his and his alone. Anyone who dared take him away
would die a horrible and painful death.

Sanzo breathed a deep sigh. He was
getting possessive. And he didn�t even know how Goku felt for him. �Sure he has
feelings for me. He treats me like I�m his light. But what if I�m just
misinterpreting his actions? Maybe� God� maybe he looks at me like a father
figure.� Frustrated, the monk ran a hand through his blonde locks before
dropping it to his side.

�What the hell are you doing to me,
saru?� Sanzo lifted the same hand that ran through his hair and lovingly
caressed Goku�s face with the back of it.

●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●◦●

Gojyo blinked. Stared.
And blinked again. His agitation from before was now
replaced with a new emotion. Astonishment. He looked
closely at the two people they were watching.

Goku was fast asleep, Sanzo�s sutra
making him lose his consciousness. And Sanzo� He was� Caressing
Goku�s cheek?! �What the hell?!�

�Ne Hakkai. Am I dreaming, or is Sanzo
really�� Unable to explain further, Gojyo gestured wildly, both his hands
pointing to the location of the monk and the monkey.

Hakkai chuckled. He wasn�t really
surprised by this development. He was one of those people with a very finely
honed perception. For a while now, the green eyed beauty has seen very subtle
shifts with the way Sanzo was looking at the growing Goku. He was pretty sure
that the monk knew nothing of his budding feelings for the boy, and Hakkai was
not one to point it out. The brunette preferred letting things happen on their
own. It was less troublesome that way. Plus he didn�t want certain things to
happen just because he accidentally opened his mouth.

Looking at the stunned redhead beside
him, Hakkai reached out and gently closed Gojyo�s open mouth who was staring intently
at the couple ahead of them.

He chuckled again at the expression of
amazement in his companion. �You are not dreaming Gojyo. You are really seeing
what you are seeing.�

�B-but� He�s stroking Goku�s face! That�s just� Impossible.� He was stuttering and he knew it. But he couldn�t
help himself. This was just so unbelievable. Farfetched.
Implausible.

Hakkai sighed. �Gojyo, it would have happened
sooner or later.�

�Wha-What?!�

�Ssh. Not so
loud. Sanzo might hear us.�, Hakkai reprimanded. He heard
a mumbled �sorry� from the redhead. The brunette sighed again. �Gojyo, they
have been together for years now. Sure they lived as companions but it would
have eventually led to this. Sanzo would�ve realized the depth of his feelings
for Goku sooner or later. And now just happened to be the
time of that realization.�

�But��

�It�s not weird Gojyo. I mean, if they�re
weird so are we. Since we are in a relationship right now.�

The redhead blushed at that comment. �It�s
not that. It�s just that Goku is a child
for crying out loud!�

�Gojyo, Goku�s over 500 years old. He�s
not as young as he looks like.

�But��

Hakkai sighed. There was only one way to
shut Gojyo�s mouth. He tipped the redhead�s face towards him and silenced him
with a kiss.

�Ha�umph.�

Hakkai licked Gojyo�s bottom lip, asking
for entrance. The redhead willingly gave it to him. Their tongues intertwined,
both fighting for dominance. They heard a faint groan, but they didn�t know who
it was from. They were too involved in the kiss to care. They heard another
faint groan before realization struck Hakkai.

He ended the kiss as abruptly as he
started it. Gojyo was about to protest but stopped when Hakkai looked to where
Sanzo and Goku were seated. He looked in the same direction and held his
breath.

Sanzo felt the teen stiffen beside him.
Goku groaned and shifted his body before groaning a second time. Sanzo held his
breath as two pairs of golden eyes slowly opened.
