Understandings and Little Gods

Ok I take it back; I will be really trying to keep my chapters fairly long. I have so much planned. (which means I have a lot of mix and matched ideas and I’m going to try to put the majority of them in my story, so even though most of my chapters will be somewhat bigger then my first two…ok a lot bigger, it will sadly slow down the story updating) so sorry about that.

Also sorry that this chapter took so long, I have school, and homework and I’ve been feeling sick lately. I’m not quite sure when I will have the next chapter up, maybe in a week or two depending on how I feel. Again sorry if that upsets you.

The more reviews I get the faster I work so please push the review button on the bottom after reading this.

God my chapter titles suck...

“R-Redemption?”

Kira couldn’t be more shocked if he had been told that L was Misa’s and his future love child. Ok maybe not that shocked but still.

“Yes Kira, I brought you out of Mu to give you a second chance. And not just you will get a second chance, but also everyone else who had died before their time will hopefully get one as well.”

It took Kira a few minutes to get over the shock of hearing this. Then the full applications of this chance hit him. He could go back…back home. True happiness filled him and he basked in that for a few seconds. But a nagging thought pressed threw the feeling, cutting it short.

“What do you mean exactly by a second chance? How is that even possible?”

The King just shook his head and raised his hand in a follow me gesture. Kira while annoyed that he was being ignored and beckon like some kind of dog just decided to do as he was told. The King seemed willing to give him this second chance. He would do almost anything for that possibility.

‘Though why would I want a second chance? It would mean…a second chance would mean that I did something wrong the first time…that can’t be right…can it? I just wanted to make the world safer for everyone, it was dirty and it just need to be clean up…I mean people just got away with almost anything! Murder, theft, adultery, kidnapping, child mutilation, rape, the list goes on and on. It was pure evil, and I just wanted to help…no…I may have meant to help in the beginning…but I lost sight of that didn’t I? I wanted to become a god so badly…why? Why did I want to become that? It’s like in the English bible…Lucifer Angel of Light God’s favored angel saw the corruption of the humans and decided to destroy the evil that he saw…he defied the god he loved to do what he thought was right...and became a god himself…or more accurately a devil…oh god that’s what I’ve done isn’t it? I’ve become the devil when I wanted to become the new god of the world, the power that I had possessed…it just seemed to take control…I… my god! All those people! I killed all of them. I think I’m going to be sick…oh god…L…Ryuuzaki…I killed you, my best friend, because even though we were enemies you were really my only equal …you may not have died by my hands but I was responsible for your death…I’m so sorry, if I could I would beg for your forgiveness. Wait that’s right! I can ask for forgiveness! My second chance! I will set things right!’

Even while Kira was thinking this he couldn’t help the small bit of doubt that clouded his mind.

‘But still was I really wrong? The world is-was a rotten place, now that I know what’s going to happen…maybe I can change it without stopping being Kira…wait is that what I really want? I don’t know anymore. Damn it feels like there are two of me inside and they are continuously battling for control. On one hand I still believe that the world is rotten and needs to be cleaned up…but do I have to resort to mass murder? Maybe I can still help the world without selling my soul this time…maybe…but the thing is will I do it? Am I strong enough to resist the power of the deathnote twice?’

Kira was so confused. He didn’t have a clue to what he wanted anymore. There were only two things he was certain about. One, he no longer wanted to be god, he realized that it was a stupid dream and quite unrealistic. Two, he did not want L dead, even though it might mean Kira’s capture, well it depends on when the King decides to take him back. Will it be after or before he touched the deathnote? Will he have his memories? He had so many questions to ask but was cautious of asking them in case the King changed his mind about taking him back and just sticking him in Mu again.

Kira shivered, he never wanted to go back to that place. That darkness…it had been worse then any type of hell imaginable.

“If you’re done with your self-angst and analyzing your disgraceful past we have arrived.”

They had had been walking for sometime, walking in a direct path threw the abandoned desert that made up the shinigami world. The King was walking a few feet in front of him, interesting enough he was not walking in an L like fashion, instead of scuffing forward with his back hunched down, The King was walking with his back straight up and taking big long strides. It just drove home that no matter the small similarities the King and L were two totally different people.

Kira just shot the King an irate look and looked around at where they were. He decided that he would figure out what he was going to do when the time came. He was startled to see that while he had been deep in thought, they were in an entirely different landscape.

Instead of the endless desert that made up the shinigami world they were in a huge cave like room, standing at the edge of a black hole in the ground. On closer exposition it seemed to be filled with some type of sluggish murky liquid. The area around them was made up of some type of ancient stone. An archaic language was written all over. The walls and the floors where coved in different types of hygrographs and lines that might have indicated some type of writing.

The King seemingly contentedly to ignore Kira at the moment, walked to one of the walls and appeared to be reading it.

Kira while yet again annoyed at being ignored was glad to be able to explore the odd room by himself. Choosing to leave the pool alone he moved to one of the walls.

After a few minutes of blankfully staring at the carvings he gave a startled gasp. The previously unknown language had started to transform into Japanese, letting him be able to read it.

‘Wh-what the hell?!’

“Ah so it changed for you did it? How very interesting. She usually doesn’t take a likely to new strangers. You really are special aren’t you Kira? Kukukuku.”

Kira got over his shock of seeing stone carved writing changing into a whole other language. He looked over at the King in confusion. The King was still at the other end of the room smirking in a knowing fashion.

“What do you mean she? I thought you said we were the only beings left alive? And how did the hygrographs change like that?” To say that Kira was in a state of bewilderment was an understatement.

“Heh you’ll see soon enough. Why don’t you try reading some, all around you is the history of the universes, to the birth and death of every known and unknown organism, all the secrets of the gods and mystics are written here. Mind you, you can only read what She wants you too.”

With that said the King turned back around and continued with his reading of the wall he was standing in front of.

Still mystified by what the King said, Kira let it go again and turned also back to the wall in front of him. But instead of also reading the secrets of the universe he took another look at his inner psyche.

‘Hmm it seems I’m going soft. Before I would have demanded answers, Shinigami King or no Shinigami King. Also the Kira I was before would be looking for the secrets of world domination on these walls. I wonder what’s wrong with me? It’s like there is only half of me here…Or maybe its two halves of a whole? Isn’t that what the King said earlier? That he could only find most of me? Maybe instead of being entirely Kira or Raito maybe I’m a mixture of both? Wait, where are all these thoughts coming from?’

Kira looked up from where his head had been tilted down looking at the floor. He took a closer look at the wall in front of him. His eyes narrowed as he started to read. Only to have them widen in alarm and disbelief. He stumbled a half a step back uncertain in how he should take this.

His thoughts or maybe the writing had influence his thoughts, either way his earlier musing and his most recent thoughts were written on the wall in front of him.

He was suddenly aware of an immense presence right behind him.

Kira closed his eyes slowly and opened them. Almost moving somewhat weary he slowly turned around.

“What-“

He was neither ready nor prepared for the intensity of his feelings at the moment.

Panic, foreboding, anxiety, terror, fright, grief, regret then… wonder, awe, bliss, delight, happiness, pleasure, joy, contentment.

She was magnificent and majestic. She was all happiness and sorrow, pleasure and pain, beautiful and hideous, war and peace, death and rebirth. She was so many of these things and much more.

To Kira’s eyes she took the form of a young girl. With hair as pure white as untouched snow flowing down her back to the floor, unbound and free. Somewhat small and petite in height she reached his waist. A sleeveless white undecorative dress covered her body till her knees, she wore no shoes. Her skin glowed and her face gave off the feeling of eternal youth, her face at the moment was set in weary amusement. Probably at the expression Kira didn’t doubt that was on his face. Her eyes were completely white. No pupils or anything. It would have given the impression that she was blind except for a certain watchfulness that seemed to radiate from them.
Kira knew precisely who this child was. But still he had to make sure.

“G-God?”

---

The proclaimed God just smiled sadly and gave a half shake of her tiny head.

Now Kira was confused, he knew that the being in front of him in the disguise of a little girl was a god, but she had shaken her head in a way that showed that he was only half-right.

“Hehe you really are special aren’t you. Not only did she let you into herself she has even shown her more corporal form.”

Kira jumped. It seemed while Kira had been staring at the little girl in front of him the King had sneaked over from where he had been on the other side of the room, to stand right beside him.

Kira turned to the King who had been watching him with an amused expression on his face and started demanding answers.

“What do you mean into herself? She is a god though isn’t She. I can feel it…warmth, belonging…is this how a god is suppose to be like?” Kira wanted answers and he wanted them now.

While Kira tried to get some answers from the King, the little god disguised as a child just continued to smile sadly at Kira. Unnerving him completely, a thought accrued to him. Something the King said when they had first meet.

“I thought you said that only you and me where the last two beings alive. But there seems to be three of us.” He looked at the King with an expression that said if the King didn’t give the right explanation right now he would not be held accountable for his actions.

“Hehe no need to get mad. I was telling you the truth, well kind of anyway. You see, you and me are the only beings left alive. She is no longer living. At least not in the sense that you and I believe in. She was once a god. A Mother to all living creatures. She, Giver of Life and Death. She is I believe what you humans called on earth a Mother Nature. Hehe fitting really. But once the earth was dead she could no longer sustain any type of life force and slowly died herself. Well kind of, it’s really hard to kill a god especially one as powerful as her. Even when her purpose of existence was gone she still couldn’t stop existing. That’s where I come in. While we may not have entirely gotten along, with me using her children’s life spans to fuel my own children’s lives. I helped her achieve her end in a way.”

The King stopped in mid-explanation when the little girl-god came over to where Kira and the King were standing.
She stared at both of them with a look of such deep mourning that before Kira knew what he was doing he had gotten down on his knees and embraced her.

He dimly heard the sharp intake of breath from the King but dismissed that from his mind. What was important right now was the god like child that was currently wrapped in his arms.

Kira had never been fond of close contact; while he had been alive he had merely tolerated it for normalcy sake. It always seemed just too intimate an action.

But seeing the small god looking at him like she was on the brink of crying was too much even for him.

“I’m so sorry…I don’t know if you can…will forgive me. I just wanted to help…I’m so very sorry…”

Kira didn’t really know what to say to a god he had unknowing caused the death of. He just…just wanted to wipe away the sadness that seemed to consume the small god.

He was startled when he felt two small arms wrap around him and held on just as tightly as he was.

Chocking back the tears that were threatening to come back he looked at the King.

He was startled again when he saw the King. He had such a look of barely contained merriment on his face that it was more then slightly disturbing.

Instead of continuing to look at the more then disturbing face the King was sporting he looked instead at the little child god in his arms. Her face was hidden in his chest so he couldn’t see her expression.

After a few more moments of basking in the hugging, which was so odd for him to be doing but he ignored that fact, the small god pulled back, just enough to look him in the face.

Her face was blank, even though her eyes seemed to be piercing right threw him; it was as if she was judging him, seeing if he deserved any type of repentance.

After what seemed to be an eternity in which Kira thought he was going to go insane. She finally seemed to come to a decision.

It was incredibly beautiful, the smile of a god.

---

“Well I guess I should finish my story, huh?”

Kira looked up at the Shinigami King who seemed a tad unsure of himself. Not that he could blame him, a lot of things where unsettling right now.

He was still on the ground with the little god in his arms, but had moved around so that he was sitting with his back against the wall for more comfort, the tiny god was snuggling into Kira’s lap seeming very comfortable there.

“I believe that would be wise.”

“Ok ok no need to get snippy with me. Hmm now where did I leave off? Oh ya I helped the little lady achieve death, or as close as I could at the time. She had to become something else entirely.”

Kira was almost afraid to ask but pushed any lingering doubts away. He looked at the girl in his arms, who was currently playing with the straps and buckles to his straight-jacket crisscrossing them. She seemed to genuinely enjoy them and Kira didn’t have the heart to stop her.

“What did you do to her? What did she have to become?”

The Shinigami King just gave a sadly creepy smile and crouched down in a manner eerily similar to L and looked at the god for a second before turned to Kira.

“She became a memory.”

“Wh-What!”

Kira sat up straight from the slight slouch he had adopted to keep the little god more comfortable. The tiny god seemed to sense his slight distress and stopped playing with his shirt; she then turned slightly and started to cuddle him.

‘Cuddle?! Kira does not cuddle! What the hell has happened to me? God, much of this…this niceness and I might as well say that I had secretly been in love with Ryuzaki and was pinning for his respect and love and-WHAT THE HELL AM I THINGKING!!’

Kira gave a half-choke on his trail of thought.

Kira decided to abandon this thought process and never touch it again. He tried to get back to the matter at hand.

“How is she a memory?”

“Ah that was no small feat. You see this entire room is her memory, the last piece of her essence; I bonded her life force into this enclosed area. All of these carvings are her thoughts or the thoughts and actions of every single creature to ever exist. To do this I also had to bind myself to her. While I can leave this room for a small amount of time she can not leave at all. We have been connected in such a way if one of us were to cease to exist then the other would immediately also cease to exist. We have been like this for so many years now I’ve lost count. We finally decided on a plan though, a way to end this pointless endless exist and hopefully get a second opportunity. That’s were you come in.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well you kind of set all this in motion. And also I have got to say you didn’t really deserve you fate. My Deathnotes are not meant for human hands, they will corrupt any and all who touch it except for my shinigamis. I’m not saying that it changed you completely into another being but it did take away any human sentiments that you may have had. It seemed to have brought out the inner darkness that seemed to inhabit all of you lesser beings. Me and the little Mother decided we would do all we can to change the hand fate had dealt with. And that’s where you come in Kira.”

The King stopped talking, like he was unsure of how to continue. Finally after a minute or two he seemed to come to a decision and continued.

“You Kira, who have has experience both the good and evil of humanity. You were one of the mothers most gifted children and you had strived to use that brilliant mind of yours for justice. You were a good person Kira, and I’m sorry my deathnote almost destroyed that. When you had lost your memories of the deathnote for the first time in your imprisonment you had regained your humanity that the deathnote had stolen from you. You genuinely wanted to catch Kira, you wanted to destroy the power that was killing millions of people, people who did not deserve to die, at least not at the time. Everything has a set order, and when you became Kira you destroyed that order. It caused great chaos and distress for all of the gods and higher beings.”

“G-Gods?”

“Oh yes there was many Creators and Destroyers of life. I myself am more of a Destroyer then a Creator, just like the little Mother is more of a Creator then a Destroyer of life. I may have given life to my shinigami children but their existence was to destroy. Where you humans where made to give life. You, who were able to embrace each other and create new life, my own children were barren; I could not give them that gift that the little Mother was able to bestow onto you and your races of earth. It was sad that it seemed that that gift was taken for granted a lot. There were a lot more Destroyer Gods then there were Creators. When the earth was destroyed it rewrote the destiny of many of us. All of the Destroyers except myself were destroyed almost immediately and the Creators soon followed. The little Mother and myself where powerful enough that we ourselves could not cease to exist along with our brothers and sisters, you are the one who will change this Kira. You will change our fates and the fate of yourself also. I can only hope you are up to the challenge.”

Kira never knew that he could feel so awful. He almost wished for his emotions to go back into the void of Mu, but the larger part of him embraced the feelings that were flowing through him, and while it was a terrible feeling at least it was an emotion. He could remember when he had been the Kira on earth that his emotions had been next to nonexistence. To realize that he had not only destroyed the earth but was also responsible for the death of gods…gods just like the little child god here…it hurt, a lot.

Kira was starting to realize what the King was getting at. Though he suspected that the Shinigami King was stalling for time telling him all this. It was like….

“How am I going to go back into time? What is the price?” Kira suspected but he hoped that he was wrong. Kira knew there had to be a price.

There always was.

The King just sighed and got up from the crouch that he had adopted when he started talking. He went over to Kira and picked up the little god from Kira’s lap and walked towards the black pool that rested in the middle of the room. He then stopped by the edge of the pool and looked back at Kira and gave his head a shake indicating that he wanted Kira to come over to.

While Kira was walking over the King had sat the little god down onto her feet. She had adopted a look of pure sincerity and calmness that he thought that maybe he was wrong about the way to go back.

That changed again when he looked at the Shinigami Kings expression. Fear, insecurity, determination, so many different emotions flew by on the Kings face. Almost to fast to notice but Kira had always been good at these kinds of observations; right now he wished he could remain ignorant.

“To change the past and to defy fate are no small feats. They will need lots of energy to be able to send you back. There are a few snags though. We will not be able to determine the when. We had hoped we could send you to before the deathnote falls to earth but it could also be moments before your death. We also do not entirely know if you will remember anything. Even though we will send you back into time, you forget that there is a whole other you at that time. We don’t know if you will become part of that person or arrive as a whole another being. You are also not entirely human anymore, remember? I don’t know entirely how that will also affect you. One thing for certain is that the deathnote can not kill you. Just like with my other children you are also under that protection. Also the deathnote will no longer effect you like it did when you where human. It can no longer taint your more human nature. Which reminds me I have a gift for you.”

The King reached back and pulled something out of his back pocket. After a moment it was clear what it was. A white deathnote.

“Now, now don’t be afraid, and yes I can tell you are frightened by the look on your face. This is no ordinary deathnote. In truth it is not really a deathnote at all. It is the only one of its kind. The little Mother and I made it especially for you. Even if you deny it you are part shinigami, and in being so you have a long life force. Actually you can say you are immortal. You can not die of old age because you will never get old. Hehe guess you got what you wanted huh Kira? To become a god, well now you are a half-breed god of death. The difference in this deathnote opposed to any other note is that this deathnote does not take lives.”

Now Kira was confused and interested.

“What do you mean that it doesn’t take life? You mean that it won’t kill anyone? What kind of deathnote is that?”

“Heheh calm down child and I will explain. You see this is what I would like to call a LifeNote. Yes, yes I know not very original but hey I call them like I see them. You see this note extends life. Ah I see that I got your attention now. Well this note doesn’t have many rules opposed to its brother the DeathNote. I decided to keep it simple and also I’m just very lazy. But even though there are fewer rules the ones that it has are very important. I myself don’t even know what would happen if one of them were broken. I’ll explain the basic and important rules. One is that when a name is written in this note you will need to know the face of that person. You will also need to write down how many years you want to add to that person’s life. When a person’s name is written in the Lifenote they will be under its protection. They can not be killed by any other Deathnote. Also the expended life will come from your own life force. You needn’t worry though you are like I said immortal now. Even if you expend the life of everyone you meet by a hundred years you wouldn’t even dent your life force. Also there is a rule for you that you must obey without question. You must never ever use a deathnote again. The shinigami of a Lifenote can not write in a Deathnote, to do so would utterly destroy that shinigami, and I believe that you as that shinigami do not want to die. You wouldn’t even go to Mu, you would just get your soul ripped to pieces and cease to exist entirely, even us gods wouldn’t be able to bring you back. So I would avoid deathnotes from now on. You may touch them and even have possession of one but do not write in one with the intent of killing another. You can still kill someone with your bare hands if you want though, I’m not trying to make you into a pacific or anything like that you just can’t kill anyone with a deathnote. ”

“You will also be able to see other shinigami even without touching there deathnotes. They themselves will not be able to tell that you are half shinigami unless you tell them. They will be able to see that your life span numbers are gone though. So they will either think you are a god or the walking dead. Heh both are kind of true huh? There are a few other rules but you can read them later. There is one other important rule in the lifenote that the little Mother has seen fit to bestow to you, it’s not even really a rule more like a gift really. I’ll just leave you two alone now. Use this chance wisely Kira, because it is more then we all deserve.”

Kira had been trying to process all of this and so hadn’t really been paying attention to the little god at the moment. When he heard though that the little god had given him something though he turned his attention on her.
She had turned her face up to look at Kira; it seemed mildly uncomfortable to him so he got down on his knees in front of her.

She seemed to be looking into him. Again judging to see if he was worthy enough for this, for her gift and this chance. Finally she gave another small smile that just seemed to warm you up from the inside, she then did something that he was not expecting. She opened her mouth and spoke. It was very old and very young, it was also beautiful and painful to hear. He listened with rapture.

“Dear one, I’m so sorry that I was not able to prevent all of this from happening to you. I had great pleasure when I created you. My child, the road that you will have to walk on will be at times harsh and unkind. Immortality is no gift, more of a curse really. While we gods had each other to keep each other company you will be bound to earth. You will outlive all those you hold dear, to walk the earth for all time. Loneliness is one of the cruelest punishments that a being can suffer. I will not let you feel that pain dear one. I offer you a one chance deal. It is not easy to achieve and I’m sorry for that.”

She then took the Lifenote from the King and then placed her right hand over the middle of the cover. A light seemed to shine from her hand to the note. When she removed her hand Kira immediately noticed something was different.

A symbol was carved onto the otherwise clear note. A circle with two crescent moons on each side facing outward. When she seemed satisfied with what she had done, she then held out the Lifenote for him to take.

After he had taken it he looked for a place to put it. Forlornly the pants that he wore had no pockets. Just as he was about to ask where he was suppose to hid it a belt chain similar to Ryuk’s appeared around his waist. But instead of being gothic with skulls decorating it, it was made of a white gold metal and a symbol of a rising phoenix on the front. The holding place that would house the book also had another symbol on it. Unlike Ryuk’s who had had a skull on the front and then a cross with a smaller skull on the book-hold. Kira’s holding place was in the design of an Egyptian Ankh.

After putting it away, he looked at her in slight confusion.

“The symbols show what you are. You are a rebirth. A phoenix rising from the ashes of your past sins. The Ankh also shows that you are rebirthing, starting a second chance and your immortality. The symbol on the book is one of mine. It is a symbol of a pagan goddess. It is my blessing for you and the one you chose. You see, my gift is the giving of immortality to another. One who will spend the rest of eternity with you. One you love and one who returns that love, to achieve this though it will be dangerous. You must first find this special person, and then you must realize your feelings for this person and except them for what they are, then you must make them fall in love with you.”

She gazed down at her feet for a moment then looked up into Kira’s eyes with an almost pitying expression.

“That’s the easy part, the next part is that they have to know all about you and forgive you for being Kira. Yes, I do mean they must know everything, they must know about your pervious life, all your past deeds, the past-future destruction of earth, and even that you are a hybrid shinigami. Everything. You may even tell them about us. They must become like your other half, no secrets, no lies, just unconditional love. They must accept all of you and love you with all of their heart and soul. That is no small task. Luckily there is no time limit, when he or she has accepts all of you and has agreed to spend eternity with you, have that person touch the symbol, it will then transfer to that person’s hand ensuring that that person will live as long as you. But be warned they can be killed just like you be can be killed. If you or you’re loved one gets stabbed threw the heart you will die. Any other injury will heal but that. But be careful, the one you love can already be close to death, if that is so just write his or her name down in your lifenote and extend their lives by 5 or so years, I believe that even you can achieve love in that time frame.”

Kira really didn’t know what to say. He was given the choice not to spend all of eternity alone. To have someone spend all those years with him, to love just him....it was more then he deserved.

“Thank you…thank you so much…I don’t even know if I deserve this…no I know I don’t but I will make you proud…I will bring justice and peace to this world…but not the way I did before…no I will find another way that doesn’t involved mass killing.”

The little Mother just gave a heart warming smiled and continued.

“Unlike the King I do know when and where you will go. I was going to keep it a surprise but I guess I can tell you a little, only because you have pleased me so. You will go to a time after you have picked up the deathnote, it was enviable that it would happen, but it is before you have become the false L. Also you will remember everything, because how will you repent for your sins if you have forgotten them? Another thing is that you will merge with the current Kira, he will not entirely disappear but you will have control over the body. Also you will be able to astral project out of that body into your true form that you wear now, but only when that body is in slumber. The only ones who can see you in your true form when you leave your human body are the ones who have touched your LifeNote. It may be touched by others but only you can give it to someone else for safe keeping. Not quite ownership but close. They can also write in it but only you and the current holder that you trusted it to can extend life. Remember it is your own life that you lose, but like the King said you are an immortal so it doesn’t really matter. Anyone else who tried to write in it will only keep the page blank. No matter what kind of ink they use they will not even make a spot on the note without your permission. The Lifenote will stay with your true form but you may call for it in your human form and it will appear, so that even when you may be valuable you will still be able to hide your note. Now I believe that will be all that I will tell you.”

The god started to turn around then stopped and turned back.

“One more thing, I will answer one question from you, whatever the question is I will answer truthfully but you must hurry the King is done with the preparations.”

And indeed the King had been quite busy while the little god had been talking to Kira. He had cut archaic symbols onto his skin and had taken off his shirt and pants leaving himself naked. As if on by some type of signal he looked at them and gave Kira a kind of sad farewell look, he then turned towards the black pool and began chanting in a strange language that sent shivers up and down Kira’s back.

While he had been looking at the King he failed to see the little child like god moving towards the pool also. When he finally looked at her he saw that she also was naked and had the strange markings on her, she had not yet started to chant instead she seemed to be waiting for him.

As if in a trance he too walked towards them and stood right between them facing the pool. He knew what they were doing. They were using all of their remaining life force to grant him a portal back. They would truly die after this.

He looked at the King and bowed his head in thanks; the King just smiled slightly back and continued chanting. He then looked at the little god and gave her a smile of such happiness he was surprised his face didn’t spilt. She just smiled back.

He didn’t know what kind of question he would ask; he could ask who his soul mate was or when the world would end or any other number of things.

But when he opened his mouth to ask one of these he was surprised when his mouth moved into a question he didn’t even remember thinking about.

“What is L’s real name?”

The goddess just smiled and replied.

“L…L Lawliet. Use that name wisely my precious one. Remember by doing this the fates have changed, even if you decide to no longer be the killer Kira someone else may take up that mantel you have left behind, you may have to fight to keep those you love safe, just remember the future is no longer the same as the one you lived in, be careful dear one and take care of those you hold close. Live wisely and happily. Goodbye my little cherished one. ”

“Goodbye…”

The little Mother also started to chant and with her voice added to the Kings the air all around them seemed to become heavier and Kira started to feel light headed. His vision also seemed to become fuzzy and the room seemed to be moving under his feet.

Before he knew it he felt his body fall forward into the ink like blackness of the pool.

---

It was very painful, he had thought regaining his memories had been excruciating, but that was like comparing the size of an ant and the solar system. He felt himself screaming but couldn’t really hear anything. It felt like he was being pulled deeper and farther away.

After what seemed like he had been falling forever he came to a sudden halt. It felt like he was floating in midair, he tried to open his eyes. After a few tries he finally succeeded in keeping them open. He seemed to be hovering over something, looking around he noticed that he seemed to be in a stone enclosed area. It looked very familiar but he couldn’t place it. Looking down he felt a jolt of shock. It was him…well a younger him. The younger version of himself seemed to be bound and was sitting in front of an uncomfortable looking cot. A twisted up Ryuk was standing in a corner and didn’t seem to be able to see him.

Kira gave his head a shake of remembrance; it was when L had confined him in a cell after Kira had said he might be Kira. He did that because Rem threaten to kill him if he didn’t save Misa…oh god how he hated her, but at the time he didn’t want to die so he had thought up a plan to save both Misa and himself from getting caught…and a way to kill L.

Kira gave another head shake only this time in disgust. He would not be killing L this time. No, he finally acknowledged that L was a good person and was maybe even true justice or at least truer then his had been. He would have to find a way to keep himself from being arrested as Kira while keeping L alive. Because not only was L was a good person…he was also Kira’s one true friend. Even when they had been trying to kill each other they had been friends, the fighting, the arguments, the aggravating habit of L eating in bed…it was something he did cherish because even with those bad habits they could also talk to each other as equals, understand each other like no one else could, hell they were practically made for each other.

Kira stopped at that thought.

‘Made for each other?! Where the hell did that come from? I just meant that it would be really boring if L wasn’t around to mess with…but aren’t I immortal now? L will have to die sometime, he is human after all…and then what? Ahhh I’ll think about all that later, right now I have to figure out a way to get into my body down there first and foremost.’

Kira apparently didn’t really need to bother trying to figure it out. Just as he had been wondering what day of his confinement it was, the answer came the moment the younger version of himself started talking to L over the intercom.

It happened just when his younger self said the words “-this pride of mine, I just have to forfeit it.”

After those words had been spoken it felt like he was being sucked down into a whirl pool. He saw himself connecting to his younger self. Becoming one being instead of two. He had to be grateful though, he was connecting to Raito instead of the current Kira. It was just as he fully embraced himself into his younger human body that he felt it.

PAIN.

He was vaguely aware of someone screaming. It took him a minute to realize it was him that was screaming. But he didn’t really care because it hurt. It was almost as bad as when he had traveled threw time.

He dimly heard other people talking, screaming themselves to be heard over his own screams. He tried to make out what they where saying but he felt unconscious taking a hold of him.

He managed to make out a few words.

“-is he having a heart attack?!”

“-urry get him out of there!”

“He’s going into shock!!”

“Raito-kun!”

The last voice seemed to penetrate the darkness just a little. He knew that voice…who did it belong to again? He opened his mouth a little and crooked out a name before the darkness completely claimed him and he passed out.

“Lawliet…?”

OMFK(oh my freaking kira) this monster of a chapter is 17 pages!!! I couldn’t stop! Ahhh my whole body hurts like major OW! What do you guys think? This is defiantly original. Hehe if anyone wants to know what happens next I need at least 10 reviews.

A lot happened in this chapter. Wow, I know the LifeNote may seem a little weird but it a big part of my plot(which I have yet to fully figure out) I originally didn’t have the little Mother god at all but she just wormed in there. I was two pages in with her before I even became aware of her existence. She cool I guess, it makes things more interesting I think in this chapter. This is most likely the last time you see the Shinigami King and the Little Mother so say goodbye.

Also I need your option; I am going to make someone else become Kira, well more like a third Kira because I don’t really want to get into the Yotsuba arc, so I’m just going to pretend it never happens. Do you want it to be Mikami or an OC? I myself am leaning towards Mikami only because I don’t know if I can make a good enough OC Kira. And Mikami makes a great Kira, obsessive, crazy, wants to be a god, total wacko. I like him. Heh. So tell me what you think and I’ll take it under consideration. Also I have no idea what part Misa will play in this, I myself like Rem so she might have a decent part, but I don’t really like Misa, she will either lose her memories and leave, die, or join the new Kira…tell me which one you like best.

The next chapter will take a while like I said up top, sorry but I would rather have a decent long good chapter that takes longer to write, then a short bad crappy chapter that I can post in a few days.

PLEASE, PLEASE REVIEW!!! I need reviews like L needs sugar! Without it we will both expire. The more reviews I get the more sugar L gets the happier we both are.
