~~**Forever Caged**~~
Stepping out of his apartment, Gideon tucked the small pet, Jade under his arm, pulling the hood of the cloak he forced the boy to wear farther down over his head to cover the boy’s pleasing features. Gideon had been called to the spaceport by one of his captains due to a problem he needed to see personally. After the unpleasant visit with Jerico, Gideon did not want to leave Jade by himself with only Evan as protection. The Onyx Elite was too unpredictable for his comfort to let Jade stay in the apartment without him there.
“What did you say to him!”
“Once again, I only repeated my warning to Sir Gabriel that angering Iason was not the best thing for him to do Raoul.”
Gideon looked up to see Sir Raoul Am with his pet and Furniture walking towards him, to their own apartment. The sight seemed slightly odd to Gideon’s point of view, with the Blondie holding onto the young servant’s wrist, almost as if pulling the boy along, while glaring at the elegant tall red headed ex-Furniture that Jupiter had given to Raoul to keep as a pet.
“You said something to him that will undoubtedly cause me trouble.”
“And in the state of mind you are in right now, you are not thinking clearly. Iason needs all the support he can get. I just made sure that he will.”
“What exactly does that mean!”
Gideon cleared his throat respectfully when the threesome came closer to him and Jade, and they still did not notice their presence.
Three pairs of eyes shot to his face to stare at him. Emerald eyes glazed with anger. Sapphire in fear, and golden eyes that looked briefly at him then, with interest at Jade, that stayed still and quiet in his protected half embrace.
“Sir Lagat.”
Gideon nodded respectfully at Raoul, who nodded back in passing while continuing to drag his Furniture behind him. All but Raoul’s pet, Katze, or with a more dignified title to the elegant tall ex-Furniture: Iason’s trusted Overseer of Amoi’s Black Market, stayed behind, continuing to study Jade, and to Gideon’s astonishment those intelligent amber eyes began to glowed ever so softly.
“Forgive me if I am over stepping myself, Sir Lagat, but may I inquire as to where the both of you are setting off to?”
Instinctively Gideon was about to respond that it was none of the man’s business to question him as to the location they would be departing to…but stopped himself. Something told him that it might be best to tell the man. “To the spaceport,” Gideon replied.
“With this child?”
Gideon narrowed his eyes. “Yes.”
“Forgive me once again if I may sound intrusive, but would your taking this boy with you have anything to do with Sir Jerico?”
Gideon stiffened at the name of the Onyx Elite, and at Katze for mentioning it. “And if it is?”
“Then it might be best, that is to say, if you are taking the boy with you because of Sir Jerico, that you consider contacting Iason.”
Gideon raised his brow at the in formal way the man addressed their Syndicate Leader, but besides that Gideon thought back to last night and the look of cold distain the powerful Blondie had in his eyes when he looked at Jade. The last thing Gideon wanted was for Jade to be anywhere near Sir Iason.
“Why would I do such a thing? Jade is my responsibility, not that of his Excellency’s.” Gideon watched as those strange glowing eyes boldly stared into his. The man was silent for a few moments, and Gideon could see that Katze was debating whether of not to impart information with him, which was the only reason why he stayed where he was, listening to what he was saying to him now.
“Will you allow me to speak to the boy?”
Again, Gideon cut himself off from automatically denying the strange glowing eyed Overseer an answer, going back to his instinct that it was the right thing to do by allowing Katze to speak to him as and equal and speaking to Jade. “You may.”
“May I look upon him as well?”
Gideon lowered the hood from Jade’s head.
“Jade?”
Still feeling ill from the confrontation with Jerico, even though he didn’t actually see the Elite, Jade lifted his eyes to the pet he knew, the one that he had meet with Riki so long ago when Riki and he had met for the second time. “Hello Katze,” Jade whispered, knowing that he shouldn’t talk but wanting to greet Riki’s friend.
“Hello Jade…. You know, I didn’t see it then because the possibility of it ever happening to one of us was zero… but, while lighter in coloring, you do look like him. One does not even need to look closely either to see the resemblance.”
“Really?” Jade’s smile was wobbly, but happy to hear the lovely red head say so, but his joy faltered just a little when he felt the extremely large Blondie’s hand tighten slightly on his shoulder. Daring a quick look up, Jade searched the Blondie’s pale turquoise eyes for signs that the Blondie might be angry, but relaxed when the Blondie gave him nothing but a kind and patient smile.
“Do not strain your voice,” Gideon said, softening the roughness of his tones to reassure the boy that he was not displeased with him in anyway, but his interest was unquestionably peeked as to who Katze was referring to that Jade resembled.
“Have no fear Jade. Whatever the outcome is, you will be protected.”
Gideon visibly stiffened at the backhanded insult, a movement that was observed by the red-head. Gideon drew the hood back over Jade’s head effectively cutting off any further conversation between the two. “I think you should continue what you were saying about Sir Iason,” Gideon warned.
“Of course. As I was saying, it might be best to request if Jade be allowed to… rest, at his Excellency’s apartment while you are on duty. It would not be safe for this child to wander around such a vast and dangerous place, even with you with him.”
Gideon was becoming quickly irritated by the knowing look within those golden eyes. “And what makes you think that I would be reassured by the fact that Jade is with Sir Iason?” Gideon blinked at how the man’s eyes glowed brightly for just a second before its luminous light faded.
“I’m sure his Excellency would like to become better acquainted with the only living child of Riki the Black, his pet.”
The startled, frightened, gasp from under the cloak did nothing to snap Gideon out of his stunned stupor. He barely nodded to the red-head that he understood very clearly what the man said to him. There was no mistaking his words, not when he had stated them so bluntly….and in that instant Gideon could also almost feel the shifting of his loyalties become wholly Iason’s with this information.
At first it had been just about taking Jade, a registered born and bred academy pet, from Sir Jerico…but now it was more complicated than just that. There was no telling what would happen when Jupiter returned from her solitude and discovered that they had more then just one mongrel in Eos. When Jupiter disappeared he had given his obedience and support to Iason, as he was due, but the greater majority of his loyalty had always been to his creator…if he wanted to keep Jade he would need Iason’s power and influence, and his fearsome leader expected nothing but all of what one could give, if he was to request Iason’s protection in helping keep Jade safe, that was what he would have to do.
Gideon could now see why Riki had been so affectionate towards Jade, the fact that the boy was from Riki, from such a wild animal was, in itself, a wonder considering how gentle the boy was. But Gideon was also suspicious of why Katze was telling him this; even he could see how this information could be deemed dangerous if anyone were to discover it, dangerous enough to bring the wrath of Iason Mink down upon them.
“Any questions you may have, I’m sure his Excellency could explain it to you.”
“Could?” Gideon sharply questioned.
“…It would be imprudent of me to say that he will or not, only that he might.”
“Katze!”
Gideon turned his head around to the bellow that echoed to them from down the hall, but of the Blondie that shouted there were no sign.
“If you would please excuse me, Sir Lagat, Jade.”
Gideon watched as the red-head slowly made his way to Raoul Am’s apartment, the hall echoing once again, calling for the Overseer. Gideon waited until the man disappeared before tilting the hood, and the boy’s face that hid under it, up to meet his glaze. “Now I understand your strong reaction earlier when I asked if you and Riki had been seeing each other in an inappropriate way,” Gideon said, caressing the boy’s cheek, following the boy with his hand when Jade flinched away from his touch in fear.
Gideon hadn’t asked why the ex-Furniture told him this secret, if what he had been told were true, because he could see that Katze wouldn’t have answered his question. He remembered Katze from his day’s in Iason’s household and had always believed that the Furniture was more then what he seemed, and he had been correct in his assessment when he had discovered, due to an importing issue a few years ago that needed his attention, when the castrate had appeared to handle the problem with Iason’s power backing him.
Whatever the man was doing Gideon only hoped, for the red-head’s sake, nothing happened to Jade.
“It looks like we will be paying a visit to Iason Mink’s household, Jade.” Because Kate was correct when he said that it was not safe for the boy to join him. He could not be everywhere at once, and he would have to leave Jade periodically for a long length of time while taking care of business.
Even as Gideon tensed as they made their way to the elevators, he also felt a sense of relief that he would not have to investigate Riki, like he had planned on doing. The way Iason protected the mongrel; it would have been a tedious edge he would have had to walk across, with the full knowledge that if the ones around him that would be gathering information slipped in anyway would bring Iason upon them, crushing them without mercy.
Locked in the closed quarters of the elevator Gideon tucked Jade closer to his side and wondered if his strange acceptance, the fact that the boy he had become so obsessed with, might have anything to do with Riki and the years of being with near the black haired boy. Riki had strange way of bringing change to those that knew him. In the past he never would have thought of stealing a pet from another Elite, and while he never particularly thought much of mongrel’s in general, he also would have never willingly lowered himself by associated with one.
The fact that Jade is said to be the offspring of Iason’s barbaric mongrel didn’t bother him in the slightest. (Another strange reaction to think about), and even though he had said he understood the closeness he had witnessed between Riki and Jade he still had his doubts. Gideon had only accepted it as possibly being the truth only because Jade was a Rank C classified pet, so even though the boy looked to be about seventeen years of age did not mean he had lived that long.
oOoOoOo
Waking to the soft knocking on his bedroom door, Iason opened his eyes to the sight of Riki’s peaceful, stunning, face next to his. Pushing up on his forearms he lovingly ran his hand down Riki’s naked chest, and as he leaned down to softly kissed his mongrel’s brow, he expelled a light chuckle when Riki’s face scrunched up and those beautiful lips turned down in a scowl. Looking at how the sun streamed into the room from the large floor to ceiling windows Iason could tell with just a glance that barely an hour or so had passed since Riki and he had fallen asleep.
“Master Iason?”
Turning to the voice that had stirred him from his slumber, followed by another light rap on the door, Iason sighed in irritation by Cal’s interruption. “What is it?” Iason called out, mindful to keep his voice low so not to wake up Riki.
“My apologies, but Sir Gideon Lagat is here to see you… I’ve tried to explain that you were not receiving… but he insisted.”
“Did he now?” Iason whispered to himself, a little intrigued but mostly annoyed by the Blondie’s appearance.
“Sir Lagat has also brought along his pet…”
“Interesting,” Iason said, smiling, almost cruelly. “Tell him that I will see him in a moment.”
“Yes, master Iason.”
Looking back down at his lover Iason frowned when Riki’s breathing began to lighten, signaling that he were moments away from waking, even turning onto his side, towards him. From the pleasurable and strenuous exercise they had enjoyed not to long ago, Iason had been sure that Riki would sleep deeply for many hours. Unlike him who only needed a few to be completely recharged. Another gift, of sorts, for being a genetically enhanced Elite.
In pure tones of beauty, Iason, surprising himself, softly sang to Riki until his mongrel relaxed and began breathing deeply once again. Iason lay there rubbing Riki’s back for a few moments longer, basking in the wonder of the creature that had brought forth such love from within him before kissing a bare, tanned, shoulder and sliding out of bed.
The undignified part of him forcibly cross swords with his inquisitive side, the side that had him dressing to meet the young pet that Jupiter had used Riki’s seed to create. And while Iason was tempted to crawl back into bed and give into the strong desire of holding Riki in his arms, he also wanted to take a good look at the boy, better than the glance over he had done when they had met at the party so long ago.
With his long blonde hair tamed, from the fingers that had left it a tangled mess all about his shoulders, and down his back, neatly smoothed back. Iason, dressed presentably, stepped out of his suite, down the long hall and out into the living room, his eyes zeroing on the protective way Gideon pulled the boy up from the sofa they had been seated at, and stepping slightly in front of the pet.
“Gideon,” Iason softly acknowledged. “What brings you here, and with your little… pet?” Iason stood there, very conscience of how much of a formidable figure he posed as he studied the pale boy trembling beneath his glaze. ‘Tsking’ quietly in disappointment at the how the boy quivered in fright with him just looking at him. The boy may have his mongrel’s blood flowing in his veins but from what he saw, that was the only thing the pet shared with Riki.
“I have a problem with Sir Jerico that has led me to believe that it is not safe for me to leave the boy alone in my apartment.”
“And because of this, I am assuming, you have decided to come to me to place a complaint regarding this?” Iason journeyed closer, noting the stiffness of the Blondie’s stance with humor and sitting across from them, motioning the two with a silent command to follow his actions.
Iason had yet to glance at the boy again after his first inspection, his interest on the muscular Blondie instead, and the possessive way he crowded Riki’s offspring. Having the Blondie come to him for such a minor annoyance was strange in itself. Not many would dare stand up to the Elite, not with the opposing figure he held himself as, so to see Gideon in his living room was entertaining for him.
“Not to file a complaint, no. I am more then capable of handling Sir Jerico myself.”
“Then?” Iason questioned softly, but with a sharp, quiet, tone signaling to the Blondie to say what he came to ask. As humorous as Iason found the situation, he also did not want to prolong the little visit, wanting to instead to sink back into bed with and have Riki curl up against his side cocooning him with his warmth.
“I was advised that due to the problem with Sir Jerico, and because it is not proper to have Jade with me while I attended to a few issues at the spaceport, that I being him here.”
“Really? And who may I ask gave you such advice?” Iason curiously asked, this time in a bored tone.
“Your ex- Furniture, Katze, whom I had run into why he and Sir Am were on their way to their apartment.”
Iason lifted a pale brow at that. “And what did he say that would give you the impression that your pet is welcome here?”
“Yes.”
“Did he now…” Iason distastefully looked at the boy seated next to Gideon. “And what do you think you can do with that information?”
“There is nothing I can do.”
Iason smiled and inclined his head slightly, elegantly, in agreement. “Very true, there is nothing you can do. If that is all you-“
“It is not. Pardon my interruption, Sir Iason, but am I to believe that what I heard to be true?”
Iason shrewdly flicked a glance at Gideon before turning his attention back to the pet, who flinched under his close surveillance and leaned closer to the Elite next to him. “And what if it is?”
“Then I would humbly request if you could see to my pet, allow me to leave him here in the absolute protection of your presence, here in your apartment, and out of it, while I am away from Eos.”
Iason chuckled. “My protection? What makes you believe that your little pet will be safe here with me?” Iason waited patiently for the Blondie to give him the answer they both knew he wanted, and to Iason’s disappointment the Blondie did not challenge him in the slightest in what he was demanding of him.
“I would never have given you my complete and unconditional loyalty if I never thought Jade would not be safe here with you. I would have never entertained the notion of venturing anywhere near you.”
Oh, but still have your doubts, and many questions, Iason thought. “What you are saying is a very serious thing Gideon,” Iason said smiling. “To announce out loud that you have given me your loyalty in such a way, it can be seen as a betrayal to our supreme creator, Jupiter.” Iason held the hardened glaze of Gideon’s pale turquoise eyes. Iason wasn’t asking the Blondie if he was sure he understood what he was doing. Gideon was and Elite, he knew how monumental his decision was, and it meant to say those words. What Iason wanted was the Blondie to say it clearly. He wanted Gideon to speak the words out loud so that his own words would echo throughout the room, and the Elite could hear them as they repeated over and over again.
“Jupiter will always have my thanks for the life she has graced me with, but in my eyes you are my supreme ruler.”
Katze, Iason thought fondly, this little meeting could have gone to the worst if Gideon had not been serious about the boy trying to hide behind Gideon now, considering the limited time Iason knew the Elite had known the pet…than again he had only the barest of ‘face’ time with Riki before he had decided to take the mongrel off the streets.
“I must commend you Gideon for your bravery, but knowing what you think you know now… do you really think the boy will be safe with me, regardless of his bloodline?” Iason rested his chin on his interlaced fingers. “I could very well ‘do away’ with the boy once you leave.”
“The fuck you will.”
Iason snapped his head around and saw Riki leaning against the wall, glaring murderously at him. “You should still be asleep,” Iason said calmly.
“You would have love it if I did, wouldn’t you?” Riki hissed as he attempted to straighten up and walk without showing Jade or the Blondie with him, how uncomfortable he was. Truth was Riki didn’t know how he could be awake right now or how the hell he was able to get his ass up and out of bed, and get himself dressed. His eyes had just snapped open, and a nagging feeling of urgency had risen in him, a voice whispering that he needed to get the hells name out of the bedroom and get himself next to Iason.
“You’re not doing shit to Jade.” Riki winched in discomfort as he finally made his way to Iason, holding in his gasp when the infernal Blondie grabbed his wrist and pulled him to sit next to him. Pain radiating from his ass when the bastard did that, and from the shit eating smirk on the fuckers face Riki saw that Iason knew very well what he did and what he was feeling right now.
“So Jade is your son, as I was told?”
Iason narrowed his eyes at Gideon.
“Yes, he is my son,” Riki said before Iason could open his mouth and reprimand the Elite. “Someone want to tell me what the fuck is going on?” Riki looked to Jade. “Well?”
“S-sir Jerico-“
“He does not need to know Jade.”
“You wanna fucking repeat that? Sounds like you’re telling me to fucking mind my own god damn business, which is fucking funny since anything that concerns Jade is my business or did you fail to fucking hear me when I said that the kid is my son?” Riki growled.
Iason marveled at the sight of Riki, with his long black hair tangled and wildly spilling down his back. How those black onyx jeweled eyes flashed with a savage light that was cast towards the Elite, daring the Blondie to say anything to him so he could verbally rip him to shreds.
Iason said nothing, wanting to see how the boy and Gideon would react. He didn’t bother to scold Riki either for the disrespect he showed him for the foul language he directed towards him or Gideon. While still technically registered as his pet, Riki was anything but one. And Iason wouldn’t have been able to stop his enraged lover at this particular moment anyway, wanting to see what Gideon would do and more importantly what the little pet would do, who he would listen to.
“Sir Jerico c-came and threatened to take me from S-Sir Lagat. We saw Katze a-and he told Sir Lagat to come up here, t-that I would be safe hear-“
“Enough Jade!”
Iason gave the boy a slight smile. Maybe he had been a little hasty in judging the boy, believing him to be a spineless creature. Just by this little act of disobedience the boy proved that he had a bit of backbone, although he was still a sad, weak link that was now apart of Riki’s bloodline, but the fact that the boy saw Riki as his ultimate authority figure was amusing and so very useful.
Riki growled at the sharpness of bulking bag of muscle’s tone toward Jade, but said nothing since it seemed that the Blondie only did so out of concern for Jade, and seeing how much it pained his boy to talk Riki backed down. He didn’t feel bad about making Jade speak, even after hearing the first words that came out of the boy’s mouth the first time, and knowing it would have hurt to say anything more, but Riki had needed to know what the fuck was going on. It also didn’t help his temper that Iason was being a silent asshole next to him, and the constant little caresses from Iason only pissed him off more.
“Katze was right. You are safe from that prick here.” Riki turned to look at Iason’s amused ice blue eyes. “That’s not going to be a problem, is it?”
Iason lifted his hand from Riki’s back and tucked a wild lock of long midnighthair behind Riki’s ear. “Why would it be?” Iason smiled at how Riki’s eyes became nothing but suspicious slits on his lovely face. “I’m sure Jade and I have many things we could converse about. I for one have many things that I would like to say to him.” Or more, what the boy could tell him.
oOoOoOo
Cursing violently, Jerico ripped off his coat and shoved into the waiting arms of his Furniture with such force that his servant slammed up against the wall, expelling a soft cry of pain. Normally gifted with a very calm personality, Jerico could not shake the uncontrollable rage that filled him due to the Blondie he had visited.
Sir Gideon Lagat, their world’s military commander of all armed forces had stolen his pet, using the absurd law that because Jade had left the solar system, it made his ownership invalid thus putting his pet back on the market to be purchased again. Such underhanded means had infuriated him to no end because Sir Gideon was correct, and he could do nothing but stand down.
If he had been a Blondie than something like this would have never have happened, but because he was an Onyx, the lowest ranking Elite in the Elite community, a humble government official, one of the many faces of Amoi that dealt with the most minor of duties, he could do nothing, even if he had the money backing him. Blondies were untouchable and had the power over all of them.
“I should have known,” Jerico whispered angrily to himself. The day Jade had run away he should have known that the Blondie was looking at his pet too closely, with too much attention. But he had been so pleased with Jade, just having tasted the sweetness of the boy’s soft flesh that he had not noticed Sir Gideon’s interest.
With such tremendous amount of fury burning through his veins, Jerico mindlessly reached out and grabbed the first thing that his hand came in contact with and with a roar threw it with all his might across the room. The strength and speed of the heavy object shot across the room breaking through the wall.
Seeing the hole in the drywall only proved to fan the flames of his rage further. “This isn’t over.” Jerico harshly whispered, his body shaking with deadly intent. If Sir Gideon thought for one moment that he would just allow him to steal Jade away from him the he was sadly misinformed, but he would have to thread very carefully. Blondies were not Elites that were to be taken lightly thus the reason why they were Jupiter’s favorites.
But he would be getting Jade back, even if it meant killing one of his own.
