Chapter #5: After Math

Claire ran to the ship even though the massive storm was still ragging. If the fellow marine had been right then the straw-hats were perhaps stronger than she or anyone else realized. They needed their hostage to stay theirs. No matter what and they were really only after the captain, right? No point in sticking around to fight in a battle they didn’t know they could win.

Soon after she was onboard, the 16 men she had asked for had arrived with Zoro and Luffy being carried on two of their backs. To the brig was strait where they went. Locked up tight. Still unconscious.

The marines all took one more look at the sky before they started getting the ship ready to sail. Going out in a storm like this seemed way too much like suicide to suit most of them while the rest just assured themselves that since the straw-hat crew to sail in it so could they.

The sailing vessel left the port into the wrath of mother nature (who was obviously PMSing). They had the head start and the straw-hats didn’t even know they left. Maybe they could get away without too much hassle from them after all.

Zoro’s eyes opened as he let out a small grunt. Where he hell was he? This didn’t look like the seastone room at all. He tried to fall back to sleep when a small snoring like sound erupted from behind him. The swordsman nearly jumped a foot of the ground. He looked only to see Luffy. {Why was I so filled with terror when it was such a small sound?} he felt like he was being watched, but no one was looking at him. He felt shaken but he shouldn’t. Should he? The memories were all to clear. {What if they’re here?!!?} he looked. No one but Luffy.

The rocking of the boat hinted to him that they were caught in a storm. Now was not the time to worry about his sudden paranoia. He had to get them out of there. He had to save them. He looked back to his sleeping captain and then lowered his gaze to the blood stained shorts. {I couldn’t save him before why should I be able to now?} his stomach churned with guilt. This was his fault. His captain had been captured, hurt, raped all because he was weak, stupid, selfish. He recalled Chopper inviting him to go to some stores with Sanji, but he turned him down because he wouldn’t deal with the love cook. He lowered his head into his hands. This was his fault.

The chocolate-haired boy stirred in his slumber. One glance told him that he was no longer in the seastone containment room but a new cell. He didn’t feel weak like he was underwater; he felt almost normal. He looked over to one corner of the new prison to see his first-mate in one corner with his head in his hands. There were no tears, but something in the captain told him that Zoro was crying. Luffy’s stomach dropped. He should have gone with Zoro to the bar. He should have stayed with him. Or at least gone looking for him earlier. Zoro had been imprisoned, violated, raped all because he was careless, stupid, unaware. He sat up quietly as if not to disturb his swordsman. He slowly carefully walked over to the corner and put his hand on Zoro’s shoulder.

Zoro’s head shot up from his hands to watch his captain lower to his knees. Luffy’s hand placed on his shoulder seemed almost comforting. He just stared at his captain. Then a tug a his shirt pulled him into his captain’s chest and arms wrapped themselves around his torso. 0_0 this gesture was very unnerving for him but he stayed perfectly still no knowing what else to do. “Luffy… what are you-?”

“I’m so sorry” his captain’s voice cut him off.

Zoro could feel Luffy’s heart beat against his chest. It relaxed him.. A little. “Why should you be?”

“This is my fault. I shouldn’t have let you go off you own. As captain it was my job to keep you safe but I didn’t. this is my fault.” The straw-hatted boy buried his face into the green-haired swordsman’s neck who was sharing this embrace with him.

“It’s not your fault.” Zoro felt assure it was his own. Not his captain’s.

“Yes it is.”

“No, it isn’t”

“Yes, it is.”

Zoro relized that this argument was getting them nowhere and he might as well end it here. He wrapped his arms around his captain. “I forgive you.” he whispered into the 17- year-old’s ear.

Luffy was relieved. His swordsman forgave him. Everything could only get better from here. Everything would only get better from here. “Thank you.” Luffy whispered into Zoro’s neck.
