CHAPTER V – One Year
Shuichi’s POV
The news about me being dead was always on television. No matter what
channel I watch, it’s still the same. Here I am sitting in the couch of my
own apartment resting. I still feel restless though. I don’t have anything to
do. I walked to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. All I have are some
leftovers of pizza and I am through eating pizza everyday. So I decided to
take some cooking lessons.
I entered a cooking school just a few blocks from my apartment. Well, it’s
not really a cooking school but it will do. When I first entered the room, everyone
saw the resemblance of Shuichi in me but they didn’t have a suspicion that it
was really me. I guess wearing contacts did help.
It took me about two months to get the hang of cooking. I know it’s a long time
but with all the cuts I made, it sure was a long hell of learning. But all the
blood loss did paid off. No more pizza and take outs. I can really leave on my own.
Days passed since I left the cooking school and I got bored again. I don’t know
what to do with my life. Maybe this soul-searching stuff was not such a good
idea after all. I know for a fact that I gave Eiri everything that I have… as in
everything.
It took me day to think of something to do other than eat, sleep and watch
television. I’ve thought of trying to get some news about my friends, family
and Eiri. But then again, I didn’t do it. I decided to go on the park where Eiri
and I first met. I took a shower and put on a green shirt and pants to go
along with it.
As I walk on the park, I remembered Eiri, our first meeting and every fight
and lovemaking. I took a seat on a nearby bench and saw him. He looks so bad.
His eyes were so red and I think it’s because of endless crying. My heart sank
in pain knowing I’m the cause of his grief. I was tempted to talk to him and reveal
that I was alive but I know for a fact that I’m not ready. I hurriedly left the park
bringing a heavy and guilty conscience.
I went back to my apartment and decided to take some fighting, dancing, painting
and English lessons just to kill the remaining months and forget that I saw Eiri.
I needed to shut myself from the past in order to see who I really am after what
happened between Eiri and me.
