Fifty-Nine
"Shun," Hasukawa began, climbing to his feet
with a horrified look on his face. He tried to say more but found himself
speechless as he began to back away. Shun quietly called out to him, crawling forward,
but Hasukawa had already taken off.
"Suka-chan!"
he screamed, his hand outstretched. Immediately he leapt to his feet and
scrambled after him, disappearing into the darkness of the park. In his mind,
Shun was beat himself, chastising himself for stupidly admitting the truth.
There was no way he was ready to know and now he'd probably lost him forever.
He soon made it back to Greenwood,
scrambling through the halls and up the stairs where he found his door slightly
ajar.
He pushed through, finding Kazuya staring out the window,
his shoulders hunched. He turned to the noise and sighed, shaking his head.
"Shun . . . I don't get it. What is this?" Quietly, Kisaragi shut the
door, walking forward.
"I'm not what you think I am, Suka-chan. . ."
Shun reached out and lightly lifted Suka's hand, leaning forward a bit as he
pressed Kazuya's hand to his chest. He could feel Suka jerk to pull away
but held him steady, seeing on his face that Hasukawa could feel him. The pulse of his whole
being echoed through the still room as Hasukawa regained a bit of color.
Trembling, Shun looked down for a moment before meeting the gaze.
"I'm not a girl. . ."
Visibly shaken, Suka's hand relaxed as he pushed against
Shun to make sure it was true, as though some magical touch could make what he
felt into terrible surrealism. "But. . ."
"I never was, Suka-chan . . . you banged your head
on the bed frame and had a mental lapse or something . . . but you . . . I'm
not what you thought I was."
"All this time. . . ?" Suka asked in a meek
whisper. Shun merely nodded, letting his sullen friend's hand drop from
his chest. Shun jerked and skidded back and away, a forlorn shock cast
upon his face. Stark white, Suka just sputtered, pulling his hand away to
stare at it. Silently, he shoved past and went for the door, Shun unable
to voice a protest as Hasukawa was out and into the hall.
"Suka-chan. .
." he barely mouthed, tossing himself to the bed and burying his face into
his pillow as his worst fear was confirmed in mere seconds. The feelings,
then, were never real.
"AGH!" A cry as such erupted from the hallway
as a thump was heard. Shun pulled himself up and stared as more murmurs
came.
"Hasukawa died of an aneurysm!"
"Waugh!!"
Shun ripped himself off his back, sweat clinging him to the sheets as wet
strands of hair clung to his face. His tank-top was soaked, hugging his skin
like a magnet to a refrigerator. His eyes twitched, stinging as he held them
wide open. He looked around, pulling his wrist up to stare at his watch.
Seeing that it was just two hours before noon, he furrowed his brow as he
whipped his head around, his hair fanning out in a wide arc.
"Suka-chan?!"
"Mm. . . shut up, Shun, s'Saturday.
. ."
". . . A dream?!
What the hell?!"
"Shut up!"
Shun winced as a pillow beaned
him in the back of the head, turning around to look as Suka retreated back to
the bed atop his own. Shun, confused, just
stared off into space. "Choose-your-own-adventure dreaming? I
think I'm going crazy." He was hit with another pillow as Suka irritably
hung from the top bunk. Shun glared at him and pushed him a little,
causing him to fall from his perch. "Ah! Suka-chan!"
Bam!
"Ow, my head!!"
End.
