A/N: It’s been over a month since I posted the first chapter and I would like to thank everyone for reading! 1k views! That means that at least…3 people have read my story! In all seriousness though I’m glad a few people are enjoying what I write! I know I haven’t let a lot out of the bag yet, but I promise there is an interesting story in the works. On to chapter 6!
This one is the longest so far. I didn’t mean for it to be as long as it is, but I couldn’t find a good stopping point.
P.S. This chapter gets a bit…lemony. *Wink wink.*
Italics means a character is thinking to his/her self.
[Text in box] is when a Pokemon is speaking to their trainer.
Bold means a Pokemon is speaking telepathically.
---------------------------------------------
It was early. Most people would still be in bed feeling safe and secure. They were all fools. As long as the unholy existed in Sinnoh no one was safe, no one was secure. They all had to be purged for the region to be pure. Plans on top of plans were finally coming to fruition. The call was proof that it was almost time for it to all pay off.
“May I take your bags, madam?” A young man was standing by her luggage, ready to carry it onto the cruise ship at her command.
“Yes, that would be very kind of you.” The sweetness in her voice hid a very stern demeanor. “I’ll make sure to get a tip for you, young man.”
“It‘s my pleasure, ma’am.” He lifted her bags effortlessly and followed her as she boarded the vessel. She quickly found her luxury cabin and opened the door, then let the young man enter before her. He set her bags on the table in the center of the room and turned to her.
“If it would be alright, I’d like to ask for a tip that isn’t monetary, ma’am.” She had already opened her purse when he spoke. She looked up at him questioningly.
“Well what is it that you want, my boy?” She wondered what else he could find a use for.
“The thing is, my younger brother is a trainer. He would be ecstatic if I brought him your autograph.” She chuckled a bit as he made his request.
“I think I can handle that.” He quickly pulled a pen and piece of paper out of his pocket, which once again caused her to chuckle.
“You’re well prepared, I see. That’s a good quality to have. If your brother shares that quality I’m sure he will make a fine trainer. Maybe one day I’ll get to duel him. What is his name?” She already had the cap off the pen, and was ready to write.
“Salvador Hale, or Sal for short.” She nodded and immediately started writing. A few seconds later she folded the paper up and handed it back to the young man.
“You’re a good brother, asking for something that doesn’t benefit you.” She moved over to the table and took a seat. “Thank you for your help.” He knew that was a nice way of telling him he was dismissed. He nodded his head and stepped out of the cabin, then closed the door. He walked back to the pier to help the next person board the cruise. Eventually all of the boarders were in their cabins, and the cruise got underway.
“Good evening ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We’ll be sailing from Sunyshore City around League Island. After that we’ll turn back inland and sail to the fabulous Resort Area of Arceus Island. We’ll arrive in two days time, then dock for 3 nights. Re-boarding will then commence and we’ll make the trip back.” The captain had a smooth, even tone that was easy on the passenger’s ears so early in the morning.
“This is your tour guide, and let me tell you it’s great to have you on the League Cruise Liner!” The voice that came over the speaker system this time was annoyingly upbeat. “We have plenty of fun activities planned for you, make sure to check your brochures so you don’t miss out! It won’t take long for us to get to open seas, and at that time I highly recommend a viewing of the sunrise over the horizon! It’s breath taking, folks!” The woman walked over and flipped a switch to cut the man’s voice off.
On the pier the young man watched the ship begin it’s journey. He was glad he never stayed on the thing; his job was to help with loading and unloading in the city. Working for League Cruises was just an odd job that he did for extra cash anyway. As he walked back into the city he pulled the note out of his pocket to read it for the first time.
“Salvador Hale, you have a good brother.
Do your best and make him proud,
and come battle me when you’re ready.
Your’s Truly,
Bertha of the Elite Four.”
-------------------------------
He was momentarily confused as he stirred from a very peaceful rest. Something very soft and warm was pressed firmly into his side. When he opened his eyes and saw yellow the previous night came back to him. Auren smiled as he brought a hand up and ran it through the fur on her head. The static in her fur popped a little, and he briefly thought of putting his hand near a television right after it was turned off.
[I don’t remember the last time I slept so well.] The voice that came through their bond sounded sleepy. [I really don’t want to get up.] Tonitrus snuggle into Auren firmly. He laughed lightly and jerked away when she did so. Upon hearing his small laugh she pulled away and cocked an eyebrow. She thought back to a time long ago when she would tickle him until he cried and an evil look made its way onto her face.
“Umm, what’s that look for?” The way she was looking at him, smiling deviously, had him slightly nervous. “Tonitrus?” Before he could question her further she struck. Her strong hands went quickly to his sides as she lightly dug into his ribs. The effect was immediate. He tried to jerk away and began to laugh wildly. His efforts to escape were futile, and both of them knew it. She was much stronger and heavier than he was.
“Ple…please,” he could barely get any words out through the laughter.
[Please? Please what?] She was taunting him now; she enjoyed the look of pure happiness that was forced onto his face.
“Please s..stop!” He managed to beg through the torture. There were tears in his eyes from laughing so hard.
[Are you sure you want me to stop?] She was having too much fun to let him off that easily. That was when he launched his counterattack. His hands went up to her sides and mimicked her own movements. They had both been ticklish when they were younger, but he wasn’t sure if that trait had carried over as she evolved. Fortunately for him it seemed that two evolutions had done nothing to reduce her ticklishness. She pulled her hands back on instinct to try to keep him from reaching the most ticklish spots, but he was just too quick.
“Not so funny when the roles are reversed is it?” She was squirming around on the bed, trying to evade his skillful fingers.
[O…ok! Truce, truce!] The voice in Auren’s head was full of laughter, the same laughter he thought he’d never hear again the day before. It caused him to act without thinking, and he leaned forward quickly to pull her into a kiss. She was caught off guard, but after a moment she returned his kiss. Without even thinking about it he broke off and kissed her again, engaging her in a bit of a make out session.
After a few kisses he pulled her back onto the bed with him while never letting their lips part. Instinct began to kick in, and Tonitrus was surprised when Auren lightly bit her bottom lip. A light groan traveled through the bond and it only served to fuel him on. The unexpected pleasure from his light nip caused her lips to spread a bit and he took advantage of it.
Her eyes shot open as his tongue made its way into her mouth. As their tongues danced over each other her hazy eyes slowly closed again, and she was pulled back into the unexpected make out session. His hands wrapped around her lower back, and she moved to a more comfortable position.
He wasn’t even thinking about what was happening, he just knew it was amazing. Auren was lost to his baser desires. As she moved to get better access to her mouth he didn’t even register the position they were in. Her legs were straddling his own, and her hands had come up to bury themselves in his hair. His hands moved further and came to rest on her rear, then he dug in a bit to pull her closer to him.
She was in heaven. Tonitrus couldn’t decide if she was dreaming or not, and she didn’t care. Her hands were buried in his hair and the two were making out fervently. Her body was on top of his, her legs on either side of his own.
Then she felt it. Auren had slept in gym shorts for as long as Tonitrus could remember. Now there was an easily distinguished bulge in the front. Because of their positioning it was almost exactly in between her legs. If it wasn’t confined it’d be right at the entrance to her core. She decided to see how sensitive it was and applied a bit of pressure, rubbing herself gently against the hard object. The effect on Auren was immediate, and the light moan he let out into her mouth only served to spur her on.
Auren couldn’t hold back a moan as he felt Tonitrus press into him. Their tongues dancing had caused a stir in his loins, and he was quickly becoming erect. When she moved against him like that it sped up the process. Then she did it again, and he realized that she was simulating the movements she would use in sex. She was very slowly grinding on him.
When he didn’t resist she continued her movements. Then she moved a little faster, pressed a little harder. The effect on him was immediate. Through the relatively thin fabric of his shorts she could feel it getting bigger, pulsing as it filled with blood. The effect on her was a bit slower; the wetness that was building between her legs wasn’t quite as forceful. It didn’t take too long, though. When she pushed hard enough she could feel him sliding between her folds, and she wasn’t sure how long she could continue before she destroyed the clothing that was keeping them separated.
Auren wasn’t sure what to do. The part of his mind that was usually so rational was almost completely taken over by lust. Now he was even pushing his hips up to meet Tonitrus’ pressure with his own. If he didn’t stop it wouldn’t be long before his pants were off, and then there wouldn’t be anything separating the two of them. If he didn’t stop they’d end up having sex.
He didn’t want to stop.
One of his hands came down to grab at his pants, trying futilely to remove them while in his position. She quickly caught on and lifted her hips a bit, sliding one of her own hands down to help remove his pants. The position was just too awkward and his erection was getting caught in the fabric. The result was that he had to stop for a moment to get them off. He discarded them to see Tonitrus’ lust-laden gaze was locked on her prize.
She couldn’t take her eyes off of it for a few seconds. She had seen him naked a few times, but had never seen it like that. Auren’s face reddened a bit as she stared; it made him feel a bit awkward. She didn’t notice, she was busy. Tonitrus wanted to memorize every detail. She estimated that it was over seven inches long, probably closer to eight. He had no foreskin, so the head was fully visible and enlarged with blood. She noted that the ring around the head and the very tip were both a slight pink color while the rest was close to the color of his skin.
While she was busy staring at his package Auren began to feel more and more uncomfortable. He decided he’d have to take the initiative, and he moved back in to kiss her again. As their tongues met once more he laid her on her back and followed her down. Now his member was pressed between them as they resumed their heavy make-out session, and he could feel the heat radiating from her core.
She was ready. She had never mated before, and she was desperate to feel Auren inside of her. She was grinding on him again, but this time she could feel his hot member pressing against her directly, only the angle kept it from being in her already. Then he pulled up, and she knew what was coming.
He looked down at the Pokemon beneath him, locking his eyes with hers. He briefly wondered if his eyes had the same half-lidded lusty look that hers held. He just wanted to keep staring into her eyes, but she was getting impatient. He felt her rock her hips up and meet his own, pulling him back to the task at hand. He reached down and wrapped a hand around his penis, lining it up with her entrance. He knew she had never mated before, and truthfully he hadn’t ever had sex either. It had never really crossed his mind. He looked back up to confirm this was what she wanted.
[Please. Please Auren. I want to mate with you so bad.] Her voice was so seductive, so pleading. His engorged member throbbed in his hand as her voice filled his mind. She accented her point by pushing her hips down, causing the tip of his member to disappear. That was all he needed to hear. She was so wet that the fur around her entrance was soaked, and the sheets even had a small wet spot. He pushed in just a bit and the head fully disappeared inside of her; now that the head was in he brought his hands up so he was holding himself up properly.
Then someone knocked on the door.
“Hey, wake up in there! We need to go! It’s already daytime, Cole! Get up right now or I’m coming though the door!” Frank’s loud voice boomed though Auren’s door and pulled him back to Earth. With a sigh and a great deal of willpower he removed himself from her entrance.
“I’m up, Frank.” He didn’t doubt for a moment that Frank would come through his door, and he really didn’t want to be on the bed having sex with his Pokemon when that happened. “I’ll be out in a minute.”
“Good, cause Alandra and I are both packed and ready to go. You’ve got five minutes, then we’re dragging you along.” Again, Auren didn’t doubt the man. He quickly hopped out of bed and pulled his underwear and gym shorts back on. He tucked his erection into the waistband and threw on a shirt to hide his protruding member. He walked over to the door and opened it to prove to Frank that he was up and awake.
“Ok, just give me a couple of minutes to get my things ready.” He tried to act a little sleepy to make it look like he hadn’t been up long.
“Alright, just make sure you…wait, did you wet yourself?” Auren quickly looked down at his gym shorts. In his haste he had forgotten that Tonitrus had gotten excited while he was wearing the pants, and the signs of her arousal were still perfectly clear.
“No, I was already up. I had a glass of water and when you knocked on the door I jumped and spilt some of it, asshole.” Auren was a practiced liar, and came up with the story on the spot. He even managed to shift his tone to one of blame, adding to the believability of his cover story.
“Oh. Well you should be more careful! Get your stuff packed, creampuff. We expect to see you at the door in five.” Frank walked down the hall, and Auren closed the door behind him. He exhaled a breath of relief as he felt his erection shrink in his shorts.
It didn’t take long for Auren to pack his things and change his clothes. While he gathered the small amount of gear he had taken out of his bag he couldn’t help feeling awkward. Tonitrus hadn’t moved from the bed, and he had tried not to make eye contact with her. Neither of them really knew how to talk about the situation. As he grabbed is Pokegear and threw is bag over his shoulder Tonitrus finally decided address the matter.
[I…I can‘t believe we almost mated.] Her tone showed she was clearly embarrassed, but she also sounded disappointed.
“Hey, it was just as much my fault as it was yours. Don’t worry about it. Let’s just forget about it and move on. We’ll be more careful in the future so this doesn’t happen again.” Auren figured the disappointment that he was picking up from her was caused by their momentary loss of control.
[Fault? But I…I thought that…] She sounded like was about to cry. Auren was confused over her reaction, and he raised an eyebrow when she closed her eyes and started breathing deeply; it looked like she was trying to regain her composure. He quickly ran over what he had said to her in his mind, and he figured out why she seemed saddened. He moved over to her while her eyes were still closed and bent over to her level, then he gently kissed her once more.
“Sorry about that. I didn’t mean that it was something I didn’t like. I meant it was my fault that it had been so impulsive and fast. When I said we’d be careful that it didn’t happen again I meant it wouldn’t happen again like this.” He mentally kicked himself for sending such a mixed message to her when she was still very nervous about his feelings towards her. Tonitrus looked at him and smiled and he knew his explanation had fixed the miscommunication.
[I see. For a moment I thought you were saying what we did was a mistake. Don’t worry about it being impulsive, I don’t think love is something predictable…at least not in any of the romance movies I’ve seen. Does this mean we can do it next time we get a good opportunity?] Her mental voice was more than a bit hopeful.
“I don’t know. It’s not like I don’t want to, or that I think it’s wrong now. I just need some time to work out what I’m feeling. Hell, before yesterday I didn’t think I’d ever hear you speak. I never even thought that you might have feelings for me other than the feelings of friendship that we’ve shared for so long.” He stood straight again and extended his hand. “Either way, we’ve got a pretty long journey ahead of us with Alandra and Frank. I’m sure by the time we get somewhere private again I’ll have an answer.” She reached up and took his hand, and he pulled her to her feet.
[I’ll take that for now.] The smile on her face grew a bit devious as pulled herself close to him. [I can’t wait though. From what I know you’re pretty big down there. I can only imagine what you’d feel like all the way inside me.] Tonitrus’ bold statement caught Auren by surprise, and he stuttered a few times trying to answer. Before he could catch his bearings she moved in and kissed him deeply once more, and she rubbed her leg between his thighs as she did so. [Let’s get going before they come back screaming, big boy.] She then turned away from him and walked over to the door, practically swaying her hips as she did so. If Auren wasn’t mildly aroused he would have thought she looked rather amusing. She turned back to wink at him before stepping out.
“Romance movies, eh? That explains a lot.” It took Auren a few seconds to shake off the feelings she had stirred up with her antics. “Let’s hope she doesn’t decide I need any further teasing. If she does…well two can play at that game.” His own evil smirk made its way onto his face as he excited a hotel room that he would never forget.
--------------------------------------
“They’ll be out in a few minutes. Auren still has to change. He’s still in his sleepwear.” Frank had immediately walked back to the lobby after waking Auren up.
“He must have really needed the rest then. It seems like he is as fast as you but doesn’t quite have your recovery speeds.” Alandra looked wide awake, and had in fact been up for over an hour. Today she wore her long red hair in a pony tail so traveling would be easier. “Did he at least seem rested?”
“Well, with Jug in your bed you have to have one hell of a quick recovery speed.” Alandra blushed a bit at his comment; she had never met a couple that went so long in bed. “He looked fine, had a wet spot on his shorts. Said I surprised him and made him spill a glass of water on himself. I don’t know if I believe that, though.” Frank was grinning from ear to ear.
“What makes you say that?” Alandra knew he was just baiting her. She knew the smile that was on his face, as she had seen it many times. He knew something, or at least thought he knew something.
“Well, just a few things I happened to notice. First thing is that I think they slept in the same bed. I could see past the boy and noticed that only one of the beds was messed up.” Frank paused again to give Alandra a moment to counter his claim.
“So? He could have made up his own bed before you knocked. He did confirm he was already up when you came since he said you caused him to spill water on himself.” She knew Frank was just letting her voice something he had already considered.
“That is very true. He did say I had surprised him. That leads me to point number two. I suppose he didn’t notice but the wetness of his shorts made them cling to him just enough for me to see that he was tucking an erection to try to hide it.” Franks smile was getting even bigger as Alandra cocked an eyebrow.
“Now that’s a little odd, but still not abnormal. Guys can wake up with a morning erection. Mercury does now and then, and I always try to make use of it…but that’s not the point!” She shook her head, trying to clear the distracting thoughts. “Maybe it still hadn’t gone down when you caused him to spill the water.”
“Again, that is possible. Point number three is what interests me, though. The kid is obviously good at keeping a straight face. In our surveillance how many times did he show any expression? Very few if I remember correctly. While I spoke to him he kept that poker face on the whole time, but someone else looked rather nervous.” Frank watched as Alandra’s eyes widened a bit in recognition.
“Tonitrus? Do you think they might have…” She watched as Franks smile got as big as she had ever seen it.
“Who knows? You were rather loud last night with Mercury.” Alandra blushed and found an interesting spot on the ceiling to stare at. “They almost certainly heard you and that might have sparked something between them. You saw the boy after you and Mesprit connected him with Tonitrus. He may not know it yet be he loves her enough that we could all see it on his face. I’m just piecing together the clues. It would probably help to mention that his pants weren’t what I’d call wet. Very damp would be more accurate.”
“So do you think that they forged a mating bond already?” Alandra couldn’t believe Auren could change so quickly, but when a mighty legendary Pokemon stepped in anything could happen. She knew that from experience.
“I’m not sure. When he came to the door he seemed irritated, even if he was trying to hide it. I hope it isn’t the case but I may have interrupted right as they were getting somewhere. Of course, this is all speculation. He could have actually made his bed, had morning wood, and spilled water on his crotch like he said. I could be imagining the whole thing. Who really knows?” Frank had no idea that he was spot on.
Before either of them could really take the conversation any further they spotted Tonitrus walking down the hallway. They both noticed she had a smile on her face and a distant look in her eyes. Once she got a bit closer she blinked a bit and her face fell back into a neutral position. Not even a minute later Auren walked into the lobby as well.
“I guess everyone is ready to head out?” He looked at Tonitrus and was glad that she was wearing a neutral expression now instead of the one she had shown him moments before. When Auren looked back to the rest of the group he noticed Alandra was looking at him curiously.
“Oh, um, yeah. We’ve been ready to go for a while now. Do we need to stop anywhere or are we heading straight for Oreburgh City?” Alandra asked the group.
“I don’t need anything.” Auren turned to Frank, who seemed to be a bit distracted.
“What? Oh, no I’m fine. Ready to go when you guys are.” Frank decided that he wouldn’t put any more thought into Auren’s business. If something had really happened, he wasn’t going to nose around to find out…yet.
“Alright then. Well boys, I guess it’s on to Route 203. It shouldn’t take but a few hours to get there. We’re getting a later start then I thought we would since it’s only about an hour until noon, but it’s no biggie. We can stop and grab one last meal in Oreburgh before we start the difficult leg of the journey. After we leave Oreburgh it will take at least three days to reach our destination. There are no towns or cities after we leave Oreburgh, and it’s going to be cold later on so make sure you’ve got warm clothes.” Alandra looked at Auren to make sure he understood.
“Yeah yeah. I’ve been traveling the region for the last ten years. I know what I need to have packed. Let’s just get going, shall we. I have a lot of questions that need answered. The sooner the better.” Without wasting any more time Auren went to the receptionist desk and paid for his stay then walked towards the exit.
----------------------------------------------
The trip to Oreburgh City was an uneventful one. Wild Pokemon could tell how powerful Tonirtus, Mercury, and Jug were and not one of them came out to challenge them. There had been a few trainers on the route but they could also see they would be no match for the trio. It was early in the afternoon when they walked through the outer city limits.
“Ah, the wonderful smell of a coal mining town.” Auren inhaled in an exaggerated manner to accent his point. “I don’t remember how long it’s been since we were here last but I don’t think I’ll ever forget this smell. Isn’t it nice, Tonitrus?”
[It is a memorable smell, I agree. It’s been a long time since we came here…I was an Electabuzz last time we visited.] The nostalgic look on her face made Auren smile.
“Mercury is always worried that he is going to hit a stray gas pocket and explode.” Alandra giggled as the Blaze Pokemon shot her a glare. He mumbled his name a couple of times and it only caused her to laugh more.
“That does sound like a very possible problem. You’d better be careful.” Auren had to work hard to keep from smiling when he looked at the Blaziken, who now sported a very worried expression. He quickly glanced between Auren and Alandra to figure out if Auren was joking. Alandra couldn’t take it anymore and burst into laughter. Mercury’s face got rather stern when he realized he had been played.
“Does anyone need anything here or can we go straight North to Route 207?” Frank had to play the voice of reason with the other two messing with Mercury.
“What? No, as I said I’m ready for the trip. I don’t need anything. If you guys want to grab a quick meal we can continue on. I doubt any of us really need a break after just a few hours of walking.” Auren already knew the other members of his group didn’t need a rest yet. He had been happy to find out his traveling companions were as good at keeping a consistent pace as he was.
“Well, let’s grab something to eat before we head to Coronet.” Alandra was already scouting out places to eat. Auren momentarily entertained the thought that she was always thinking about food.
----------------------------------------
A man watched with a frown as three strangers walked into the Coal Miner Café. He had never seen these three people, but something about them seemed off. He had seen many trainers come through Oreburgh City, and could often tell when trainers were impure. He reached his hand into his pocket and ran it over the pendant he kept there: a pendant of the Church of Arceus.
As he mulled over any future action he might take, he noticed another trainer coming into town. This one looked exhausted and a Monferno accompanied him. The man’s expression became even more sour. Was every trainer impure these days? He would deal with this new trainer first. He wouldn’t even break a sweat on enlightening such a novice trainer. An evil smile formed as he went to address the young trainer
---------------------------------------
Half an hour later Auren and company walked out of the Coal Miner Café, full and ready to hit the road. This was the second time Auren had eaten at a restaurant with Frank and his Machamp, but this time there had been an all you can eat bar. Auren wasn’t sure that he would ever find his appetite again after watching that pair tear into their food.
Frank and Alandra were chatting as the group passed the Oreburgh Mining Museum and exited the city. Auren was about to get in on the conversation they were having when he heard someone shout. It was quiet and he wasn’t completely sure that he had actually heard anything. He was about to say something about it when he heard it again.
[What was that?] It was all the confirmation he needed. Tonitrus watched as Auren broke out into a run and called out for her to follow him. Frank and Alandra were confused for a moment but took off after him when they realized that he was alarmed.
Route 207 was more mountainous than any of the previous routes the group had traveled, so they were a bit slower as they ran. Auren was ahead by a decent margin and was the first to arrive at the scene where the shouts had came from. He didn’t know what was going on, but he could tell something was wrong. In front of him was a younger trainer who seemed familiar. His Pokemon, a Monferno, was badly beaten and was losing blood. The trainer wasn’t looking good himself, blood was flowing heavily from a few major cuts he had suffered at the hand of his aggressor.
“Arceus judges you, boy.” Auren’s eyes widened as the attacker spoke. He had heard those words before, and knew what was next. “Those who love their Pokemon are abominations and shall be punished by his holy might.” It was the same speech. Auren had been given the same speech when he was a boy right before Tonitus’ throat had been slit. Rage began to take over when the man spoke again.
“Drapion, finish the miserable creature. Cross Poison.” The Ogre Scorp Pokemon moved forward quickly, raising both its claws to attack the downed Monferno. Auren barely registered the movement to his left as a yellow blur took off. Right before the Drapion landed what would surely be the finishing blow, Tonitrus stepped in and caught both claws.
[Permission to eliminate these monsters.] Auren noted that Tonitrus’ voice was seething with anger. He realized that she must have recognized the speech the man had given as well. Auren was sure that this wasn’t the man that had attacked him as a child, but that speech was so similar. Drapion pulled away and jumped back in front of its trainer.
“So, do you sick bastards all get together and practice that speech?” Frank and Alandra had caught up now, and the way Auren spoke shot chills up Alandra’s spine. “I don’t know who you are. I don’t know why you think you can get away with things like this. All I know is that I hope you’re ready to meet your god.” The injured trainer looked at Auren with hope in his eyes before they closed and he fell to the ground.
“Frank, take the kid and his Pokemon and get them back into town. They need medical attention. Now.” Alandra was taking over the situation. She hadn’t heard the whole speech, but she knew an Arcean zealot when she saw one.
“My my. Do you have any idea who you’re talking to, boy?” The man addressed Auren directly. “Do you think I’ll let you speak to me like that? I am one of the Chosen Seven. I carry out Arceus’ will directly. You are all impure and I will wipe your whole group out.” Frank had moved over to collect the injured Monferno, and Jug was holding the injured trainer evenly in his arms.
“We’ll be back as soon as possible. Take care of this guy.” Frank nodded to Auren as he walked by, then broke into a run. The Monferno didn’t have long left, and the trainer didn’t look so good either.
“It’s pointless you know. I will kill both of you impurities here and then I will go deal with those two. I wasn’t going to kill the boy, I was only going to teach him a lesson. Now I see I was being too soft. Drapion, we’re going to kill these abominations. No mercy. Go, Skuntank.” The man released his second Pokemon, a rather large Skuntank. Then Auren noticed something about both Pokemon. They had the Arcean symbol branded on their heads.
“So, you want to fight two against one? That seems unfair.” Auren didn’t show any emotion anymore. He was in the mindset of an eliminator. Cold, emotionless, efficient.
“Fair? I’m above fair and unfair, boy. I am Troy, servant of the great Arceus. I am above the rules and above your understanding of fair. I will crush you and your notions of fairness as I crush your body. I hope you understand how little I care that you think me using two Pokemon is unfair for you.” The man basically spat each word, pride and certainty thick in his voice.
“For me? I’m not worried about me. It’s you that this fight isn’t fair for. If you only have two Pokemon, then I almost feel bad for you.” The man, Troy, showed surprise for only a split second before his features clouded with anger. “Almost. You think you have some Arceus given right to destroy the lives of those who have different beliefs than you. For a while I was helping you, even though I didn’t know it. I’m not sure that I believe in fate, but it seems like you were put in my path for a reason.”
“Who do you think you are, boy?” Troy’s words came through gritted teeth. He wasn’t used to people talking to him like he was the trash. The way this boy spoke to him made his skin crawl. “You were helping me? Does that mean you were once on the side of the great Arceus? What kind of fool would turn away from his guiding light?” Troy sized Auren up and noticed his blank demeanor, his gray hair, and his Electivire. Suddenly his face lit up with recognition, and a bit of his confidence seemed to leave him. “Auren Cole?”
“So you know who I am. I hope that means you know you will die here. You won’t be the first person I’ve killed, and you won’t be the strongest. I do have some questions for you, though. Like who are the Chosen Seven, for instance?” Auren hoped to get some information out of this man, but realized that wouldn’t be happening as his face once again contorted into an angry grimace.
“I’m not afraid of you, boy. You would battle me with only one Pokemon? That is a foolish, prideful mistake. Pride is one of man’s greatest downfalls, and it is ultimately…”
“So you’re going to preach to me about pride being evil too? That makes you religious and a hypocrite. How surprising.” Auren cut the man off mid-sentence and could tell he had angered him even more. “And quit calling me boy you old bastard.” Auren’s face was still stone cold. If he had intended for his remarks to be humorous or sarcastic no one could tell. Either way, Troy was at his breaking point.
“Drapion, Skuntank, use Night Slash!” Both Pokemon charged towards Tonitrus. Their claws were surrounded in a dark aura that was unique to Dark type moves. Auren could tell they had worked as a team frequently; their timing was perfect. To block one would almost guarantee a hit from the other. In most cases at least. Auren knew that if he caught on to anything like that in a battle Tonitrus had as well.
Like her trainer, Tonitrus’ face was emotionless. To her the movement of her two opponents was almost happening in slow motion. As the two Poison/Dark types charged her she jumped up and away from them. She knew both would think to catch her as she landed, and that’s exactly what she hoped for. Only a few feet separated Tonitrus from the darkness imbued claws as her feet hit the ground. She almost smiled as the charging duo tried to pull back from the ground shattering Earthquake she used as her feet hit. Their only type weakness was ground, and she had one of the most powerful ground moves at her disposal.
“What?!” Troy looked equally surprised as his two Pokemon came flying back towards him. To their credit they both landed on their feet, though the were both visibly damaged from the powerful ground attack. “How does you Electivire know that attack?” Auren thought back to when he had purchased TM26 when he learned that Electivire could use Earthquake. He almost smiled.
“Who knows. She’s full of surprises.” His answer clearly irritated Troy further.
“Drapion, Earthquake!” At Troy’s command Drapion rocked back before slamming both of it’s claws into the ground. The earth split and cracked towards Tonitrus’ feet and she jumped to avoid the attack. “Skuntank, Toxic!” Auren raised an eyebrow as he recognized the tactic. The Earthquake had been a diversion to get Tonitrus into the air so she couldn’t avoid the second attack. The Skuntank immediately launched a blast of purple goop directly at Tonitrus’ face.
The disgusting liquid splattered a few feet in front of Tonitrus as it contacted the Protect she had used. She knew she would have to be more careful as Protect became less reliable with each use. This duo was well tuned and she needed to find a way to break their teamwork. As she landed Drapion was coming in fast. “Crunch!” Troy yelled the command and Drapion’s maw opened wide. He was just about to bury his fangs into Tonitrus when a massive electric shock traveled through him.
The charge had been the opening she needed to use Thunder, and the Drapion’s open mouth might as well have been painted to look like a target. The large Ogre Scorp Pokemon collapsed to the ground and shook as the tremendous voltage ran through him and stole control of his muscles. Tonitrus lifted her foot to lease another Earthquke and finish the convulsing Pokemon when Troy’s next order rang out.
“Skuntank, Flamethrower! Burn them alive!” Tonitrus would be able to crush the Drapion, but she would take a strong hit to do so and she wouldn’t be able to avoid it. She realized the Drapion would be caught up in the attack as well, and in his current state it may kill him. Tonitrus’ anger increased as she thought about a trainer who was willing to sacrifice one of his own just to get ahead. In that instant though, the Flamethrower didn’t come.
Instead a Smokescreen covered the area and Tonitrus quickly pulled back. She didn’t want to fight in an environment where she couldn’t see, especially against two Dark types. Before she could consider her next move the ordered Flamethrower attack blasted through the smoke in her direction. On instinct she launched her own Flamethrower to counter. At that moment Tonitrus was very glad Auren had spent so much money on TMs for her. The attacks cancelled each other out, but the Skuntank had bought enough time for Drapion to recover.
“Did I order a Smokescreen? How dare you act on your own?” Auren thought Troy should be happy that his Pokemon had worked quickly to save the other, but apparently he was wrong. “You do not act on your own you fool! Arceus gave dominion of Pokemon to man! You do not act unless I say act!” His pitch continued to rise, and now he was yelling. His Pokemon recoiled as he yelled at them, as if they expected him to strike out at any moment.
“Wow. So that’s how you inspire loyalty in your Pokemon?” Auren didn’t think he could be more disgusted with the man in front of him. He was a murderer, a bigot, and he even abused his own Pokemon. “You’re a monster. You judge people impure because they love their Pokemon. Yet you sit here and treat them like they’re nothing. In my eyes you‘re the impurity”
“They are nothing! They are property, and I choose what to do with them! If they no longer serve the purpose Arceus gave them, then what good are they? I don’t need the approval of some worthless punk to exercise my right as master. Besides, aren’t you the monster here? If I remember correctly, you killed many impure trainers.” Troy seemed to reel himself in a bit as he finished.
“That’s not the same thing!” Alandra, who had watched quietly until now, had finally had enough. “Auren wasn’t openly going around judging people based on their beliefs. He thought every one of those people was someone evil, someone like you! If he were the same as you…” Auren held up a hand to stop her.
“Maybe you’re right. Maybe I am was a monster and maybe I will never be able to shed my past mistakes. I can only acknowledge them and try to change. Or maybe I can seek repentance if I rid the region of disgusting people like you to make it safe for those you would deem ‘impure’. I think I’ll try that option.” Alandra nodded as he finished.
“Your talk won’t matter once I’ve had my pets here kill you and your Pokemon!” Auren noticed a strange look on Skuntank’s face for just a moment, and then it was gone. Had he imagined it, or had the Pokemon recoiled a bit when it was called pet? He had to make sure.
“Good luck with that. Before I finish you off, I want to let you know that once you’re dead I’m going to free your Pokemon and let them live how they want to.” He paid close attention to the Skuntank’s expression, and as he thought the Pokemon let a hopeful look cross its face for the tiniest of moments. He wondered if the Drapion reacted the same way, but because it’s face was so creepy it was hard to tell if there was any emotion there.
“I’ve had enough of you! Drapion, Pin Missle!” The large scorpion seemed to hesitate for a moment before launching a barrage of sharp pins towards Tonitrus. She ran from the incoming wave of needles and waited for her moment. She was tired of this fight and was ready to end it. After four waves of needles, the Drapion let up. Tonitrus charged straight for the purple scorpion, putting her shoulder forward as she went. The air bent in front of her as the Giga Impact rocketed her forward. Then something unexpected happened.
Skuntank jumped in the way.
“What?” Auren’s cold demeanor slipped for a moment as he witnessed the Skuntank sacrificing itself for its partner. Even in the hands of such a maniac, Pokemon couldn’t seem to be completely evil. Auren looked at Troy, who seemed equally confused.
Skuntank took the full hit from the Giga Impact and flew violently through the air. When it hit the ground it slid roughly before coming to a complete stop, then it didn’t move. Auren was again taken by surprise as the Drapion moved very quickly to its fallen partner’s side. Auren might not have been able to read the Drapion’s facial expression earlier, but he could clearly see the Pokemon was distraught now.
“What are you doing?!” Troy was angrier than Auren had seen him so far. “Leave that trash where she is and get back into the fight!” Again Auren could read the expression on the Orge Scorp Pokemon’s face, and this time that expression was one of anger. He looked angrily at his trainer, and growled his name. “You dare growl at your master? Have you forgotten what happens to Pokemon who disobey?” His words had an immediate impact, and the Drapion turned back to the battle.
“Is she your mate?” Alandra spoke again, this time to the Drapion. Auren watched as Drapion’s eyes widened and he turned to look at his trainer nervously.
“You’ve got to be kidding me? A mate? Pokemon don’t have feelings like that, stupid girl. They only mate to produce offspring, something a Drapion and a Skuntank couldn’t do.” As Troy spoke, Drapion seemed even more nervous.
“You’re wrong. Pokemon love just like humans. You’re so blind to the truth that you can’t even recognize that your own Pokemon have fallen in love right before your own eyes.” Alandra’s tone showed how sad she thought it was that there were people like this in the world.
“Drapion, Cross Poison!” The confused Pokemon hesitated again, longer this time. He glanced back at his trainer and found a look he was too familiar with, a look that promised a painful punishment for disobedience. He turned back to his target, Tonitrus, and his claws began to drip with poison. He charged recklessly, not seeming to care what happened to him at this point.
[This is wrong.] Auren was surprised to hear Tonitrus in his thoughts. [Sorry, but I can’t kill these Pokemon. Even under such a tyrannical leader they’ve found love. We’ve got to help them.] She cast Auren a quick glance, and he nodded. Then Drapion was upon her, slashing at her almost randomly trying to land a hit. She let her movements create an electrical charge as she dodged, then launched it at him as a Thunder Wave attack. It surrounded him and he froze completely as the paralysis set in. The Poison/Dark hybrid couldn’t even fall to the ground.
“Well, looks like you lose.” Auren let a smirk come to his face just to taunt the man. Tonitrus stepped away from her opponent and slowly walked towards Troy menacingly.
“No wait, wait! I’ll tell you anything you want to know about the Chosen Seven! Where our bases our, who our members are, everything!” Troy was pleading now, and Auren had to refrain from actually laughing at him. Then he removed his hand from his pocket and let Abra out of his ball. After only a few seconds, the small Psy Pokemon turned and looked at Auren and nodded.
“Done.” Auren pressed the button again and recalled his Abra.
“Seems like you’re lying to me, Mr. Troy. You don’t actually know where all the bases are, and you don’t know any of the real names of the Chosen Seven. While you do know some of their Pokemon, that information isn’t very helpful. Thanks for the info you had, though. You made it really easy for Abra to run through all your thoughts.” Auren did smile as the man’s look became one of pure horror.
“You can’t kill me! I was chosen by Arceus himself! I have his divine protection from trash like you, and I…” Troy never finished that sentence as millions of volts of electricity fried his brain and overloaded his nervous system. His body twitched around on the ground as the excess current caused his muscles to spasm.
“I’d like to have some cool line here to sound like a bad-ass, but I’m drawing a blank.” Auren wasn’t bothered even a little as he watched Tonitrus fry the evil son of a bitch. The Drapion hadn’t even spared a second glance, instead it ran quickly to the still unmoving Skuntank. It seemed confused over how to act and looked to be on the verge of panic. Auren walked over and took the Pokeballs off of Troy’s smoking body and realized they had both been fried.
“Now that he‘s gone I need to decide what to do with his Pokemon” Auren looked over to see the Drapion still looking at its shattered mated. “Problem is your Pokeballs are fried. So right now, you’re free.” The Drapion’s eyes widened as Auren Spoke. “Skuntank isn’t in good shape right now. Tonitrus’ Giga Impact almost certainly shattered quite a few bones, and I can’t be sure she will even live.” It turned and tried to speak to Auren.
“Drapion, dra dra, pion. Drapion, dra.” Auren had no idea what the Pokemon had said, of course, but Tonitrus did.
[He said that he doesn’t care what you do to him, but he begs you to find some way to save the Skuntank. I’m not sure how I feel about any of this. I know these two have killed other Pokemon and trainers…but I can’t judge them for it. They were following the orders of a corrupt master. If we let them go, will they run and tell others what they know? We’d be gone by the time any others arrived, but they could still give away our location.]
“Would it really be so bad if they brought back other members of whatever Chosen Seven might be? Seems like they’re a group of powerful Arcean fanatics. Wiping them out would probably be a very good thing.” Auren momentarily considered telling the Drapion to bring other members back in return for Skuntank’s safety, but quickly discarded the thought. He wasn’t the kind of person to hold a life at ransom.
“Look, Auren. I know Tonitrus is strong, but trust me when I say you do not want to confront the Chosen Seven, especially more than one at a time.” Alandra spoke quietly.
“Wait, you know who they are?”
“We…I do. I hate to have to keep doing this, but I have to tell you to wait until later. Right now I need you to just trust me when I say we don’t want to confront them.”
“So many secrets. I feel like I may have joined a cult.” Auren smiled at Alandra to relieve some of her obvious tension. He could tell she was really annoyed that she couldn’t tell him more, but he had decided she was someone worth trusting. “Alright, I won’t press for answers. Drapion,” the Pokemon locked eyes with him as he spoke, “I’m sure you did terrible things while working for your previous master, things that I wouldn’t want to speak of or know about. For your crimes you should be punished.”
[Wait, Auren. You have to see that he is…] Auren held up a hand, causing the link to go silent.
“When I look at you I see a look in your eyes that I have recently become familiar with. I see regret. I know what it’s like to do terrible things for someone and regret those actions. So I’ll make you a deal. I’ll take you and Skuntank back to Oreburgh to be healed at the Pokemon Center. The only problem is that I have to catch you, wild Pokemon can’t be taken to a Pokemon Center.” Auren pulled off his pack and pulled out two Pokeballs.
The Drapion seemed to think the proposal over. It looked at Auren, then to Skuntank, then back to Auren. It closed its large, mostly white eyes for a moment then nodded before opening them.
“Don’t worry, I’ll release you after you’re healed. I don’t intend on forcing you to stay. However, I do require one thing. You have to promise me that this isn’t going to come back to bite me in the ass. I don’t ever want to see either of you again, understood? You go off and live your life together. If you ever happen to come across the same scenario I did today, with someone trying to kill or punish someone for their beliefs, you punish them instead. Do we have a deal?” Auren walked towards the two Poison/Dark Pokemon, both Pokeballs in his left hand.
The Drapion nodded its agreement instantly. Again Auren saw a familiar look in the Drapion’s eyes. The look of someone with a new reason to live and a new reason to fight. Auren tossed both of the Pokeballs and watched as the Drapion and Skuntank were enveloped in red light. When neither put up any struggle and were captured immediately Auren cringed. He knew the Drapion had been captured willingly, but Skuntank not putting up a fight meant the Pokemon was in critical condition.
“Well, looks like we need to head back to Oreburgh as well. I guess that will make it easier to meet up with Frank. Plus we can check on that trainer and his Monferno. I want to make sure they’re ok.” Auren placed both Pokeballs in his bag and slung it back over his shoulder. “That was a good fight, you made it look easy Tonitrus.” The Thunderbolt Pokemon nodded and smiled, happy for the compliment.
“Are you sure it’s a good idea to just release those two after they’re healed? Who knows how long it will be before they’re ready to be returned to you, or where we’ll be when the Skuntank recovers…if she recovers.” Alandra agreed with Auren’s, she just wanted to make sure he saw all the effects of his choice.
“I’m sure. You’re right, we have no idea when the Skuntank will be ready to go. Tonitrus hit her very hard, and it was an attack meant to end the fight quickly. Either way, once the Pokemon Center calls and tells me they’re healed I’ll go to the nearest Center and retrieve them. I’ll release them when it’s most convenient somewhere they won’t be a threat. Obviously I’m not going to release them anywhere near wherever your secret base is.” Auren had a good grasp of the situation, so Alandra didn’t question him any further.
Tonitrus walked over to Troy’s now still body and moved him to one of the crevices her Earthquake had created. She used a weak version of the attack to cause the ground to fall in around him, burying the charred body. When they were sure that was done they walked back into Oreburgh and towards the Pokemon center, then they ran into Frank.
“Sorry it took so long, they had a lot of questions that I had to lie my way through. Then there was some paperwork I had to sign. It would have been easier to just leave them.” Frank’s comment was obviously not serious; he definitely wouldn’t have left the injured trainer.
“Probably so.” Auren was just as insincere. “How are they?”
“Well, the boy suffered quite a few significant injuries from what appears to be a Pin Missile attack and passed out from blood loss. Other than that he should be fine. The Monferno is in far worse shape. Look like she got hit with a Toxic attack, so she is badly poisoned. Most of her wounds are pretty deep cuts and gashed from the Drapion’s claws.” Frank gave them a quick rundown and Auren wished he had gotten to the scene early enough to prevent the attack.
“Speaking of Drapion…” Auren explained the situation to Frank before heading into the Pokemon Center and giving the nurse his newly captured Pokemon. After signing the correct forms, the group once again left towards Mt. Coronet.

“Three of them have already arrived on Arceus Island. Bertha is coming by boat at a leisurely pace, but she’ll be on time. That means Troy and Argenta are the only ones left unaccounted for.” The man was speaking to the Pitch-Black Pokemon as much as he was speaking to himself. He had to keep a mental list at all times and sometimes he spoke his thoughts aloud.
“Something is…off with either Troy or Argenta then. I can’t tell which, but one of the Chosen Seven has been…removed from this plane of existence.” If Darkrai was irritated over the news he didn’t show it.
“What? How can you tell? How could that happen?” The man asked hastily, not respecting the cruel Dark Pokemon.
“One is dead. I just know. My best guess is that someone killed them. That foolish human, Troy, is the more likely option. He doesn’t think things through and is over zealous. The female, Argenta, is much more level headed. And that isn’t saying much. You humans aren’t typically a very clever bunch.” The man almost came up with a retort, but remembered who he was dealing with.
“If Troy is dead it‘s an acceptable loss. He was a strong supporter, but he was the weakest of the seven. We could replace him with ease.” Darkrai let out what would almost pass as a laugh.
“That is the reason I speak to you human, you value human life so little. That is something we have in common. Replacing whoever perished is unnecessary. Right now we don’t need a seventh member. We need to focus on the plan.” The Dark legend spoke with finality.
“Regardless, we will know soon enough who has fallen. Three days from now the Chosen Seven…or maybe six at this point, will meet. Once the next stage of the plan commences the world will be set to change.” The man closed his eyes and nodded contentedly.
“Indeed.” The Pitch-Black Pokemon phased through the wall, leaving the man to his thoughts of grandeur. “You have no idea how much it will change, fool.”

A/N:
Sorry about the delay. I know this chapter is a couple of weeks late. I’ve been getting back in the swing of classes and it’s been pretty hectic. Fortunately I have a few hours of free time every day so when I don’t have random class work to do I can sit down and type.
On a story related note, Arceus Island is the Island north of the League. It has the resort area and fight area, etc. on it. To my knowledge it didn’t have a name, so I gave it one.
This is the longest chapter so far. I’m not sure how much I like this one. I liked writing some of it, and hated writing other parts of it. Tell me what you think!
