A/N: Well, this is the first chapter I’ve written in the time between classes. I must say, my schedule is quite nice for doing work or writing this story. Small note: I will (obviously) not be able to keep up a weekly schedule. From here on I’ll do my best to get a chapter out every two weeks.
Italics means a character is thinking to his/her self.
[Text in box] is when a Pokemon is speaking to their trainer.
Bold means a Pokemon is speaking telepathically.
-----------------------------------------------
Six individuals were gathered in a large, dark, secluded room. The room was designed to let each member see their area but not the other member’s areas. Large glass-like panes were tinted to keep each individual obscured from sight. It was a design meant to keep privacy intact so no one member could compromise another. On this day the design changed. The darkened panes all lightened to allow those present to view one another.
“Today we move on to the next stage of our plan. To do so we must remove the curtain of anonymity. We have all gotten this far together, and now we will have to work side by side to accomplish our future goals. Fortunately most of you already know each other outside of the Chosen Seven, but I feel introductions are in order anyway.” The man spoke to the room as a whole, and he was sure all present knew who he was.
“To think this whole time you were one of us. I suppose it’s not terribly surprising.” Bertha stood as she spoke. “As most of you surely know, I am Bertha of the Elite Four.” To her left, an equally distinguished figure stood. His blond hair and green overcoat gave him away even to those who had never seen him before.
“I look around and see powerful trainers. I am Tower Tycoon Palmer, the Frontier Brain of the Battle Tower.” He spoke quickly. “I know this meeting is important, but I have many things to do, so let’s not dally!”
“You are always so impatient, Palmer.” The purple-haired, flashy dressed woman next to him chuckled a bit as she stood. “I am Hall Matron Argenta, The Frontier Brain of the Battle Hall. I’m glad to see our members are all competent.”
“I think I might be one of the weakest here, and I can’t bring myself to feel badabout that. A sturdy base is needed for change!” The man spoke slowly as he stood. His clothes were ragged from excessive use; his maroon hair was unkempt and matched his stubbly beard. “I am Byron of the Canalave City Gym.”
“None of you probably know who I am, and I must say I am honored to stand beside some of the greatest trainers in the region.” The next speaker was the quietest so far. She had green hair with matching green boots. Her body suit was mostly a dark red accented with a peach color around her pelvic area and shoulders. “My name is Jamie, and I’m known as an Ace Trainer.” Her voice got louder as her confidence began to return.
“Very good. Now you are all familiar with each other. As I’m sure you all know I am Father Gabriel Estelles, the current head of the Arcean Church. You have certainly noticed that there is one spot empty in the Chosen Seven. It seems the seventh member was hasty and foolish and got himself killed. We aren’t sure who attacked our brother in faith, but we can be sure they will be dealt punishment. The Chosen Seven are graced by our lord Arceus, none can oppose us without suffering his divine wrath.” The man who had called everyone together, Auren’s past employer, was the last to speak.
The present members all gazed upon Father Estelles’ brilliant red and white robes. The design was very similar to a normal Pokeball, with the top half red and the bottom half white. The colors were divided by a black like as a barrier between the two. The Pokeball was the sign of human dominance for the church - red symbolized the humans on top, while white symbolized the Pokemon underneath them. The black line was meant to show the separation that was never meant to be removed.
“Shall we find a new member before we move forward?” Bertha was the first to ask the question on everyone’s mind.
“No. Right now the next phase of the plan is all that matters, and the next phase is simple in theory. We must capture the Spirit Trio.” As the father spoke a few of the members showed obvious surprise. “This will be no easy task. Even though each member of the trio is small they all deserve respect for their powers. They are all Legendary Pokemon after all. The original plan was to have you break into teams of two while I continued to run the church, but our fallen brother has nullified that plan.”
“Do you plan on going on this mission yourself, then?” Palmer asked quickly.
“I do. I will be accompanying Byron to capture the Willpower Pokemon, Azelf. While we do that…” Jamie interrupted him as he spoke, surprising all in attendance.
“Father, you can’t! You are the head of the church, and you speak for Arceus himself! We can’t risk you getting hurt in a mission!” She immediately realized she had cut Father Estelles off and turned a deep shade of red and dropped her eyes to the floor. He simply smiled.
“Your passion is great, young trainer. Never let that fire and passion for our lord be extinguished. Fear not! As you said - I speak for Arceus himself, and he will not allow me to fail in this important mission. Byron and I will capture Azelf without fail.” She looked up at his smiling face and felt a calm wash over her. She nodded resolutely before he continued. “The next pair will be Bertha and Jamie who will capture the Emotion Pokemon, Mesprit. The final two are Palmer and Argenta, and they will be going after the Knowledge Pokemon, Uxie.”
“Do we know where the legendary trio are located, or will we also be responsible for tracking them down?” Byron asked.
“We know the location of all three, more or less.” Father Estelles answered. “We first found Azelf at Lake Valor almost by accident. A psychic type trainer just happened to be passing by there one day when his Pokemon noticed a huge psychic force nearby. He told a priest of a nearby church, and word eventually traveled to me. A small scouting party was sent out and they can confirm that Azelf is somewhere below the lake.”
“So we know a general location? That should be good enough. What about the other two?” Palmer asked.
“The other two were located on a hunch. After confirming Azelf was somewhere under Lake Valor we sent scouting parties to the remaining great lakes. Sure enough there was a strong psychic presence at both. We have confirmed that Mesprit is at Lake Verity and Uxie is at Lake Acuity. Those will be your destinations. Any further questions?” The father opened the floor for any further questions his holy group might have.
“Yes,” Argenta spoke up, “how are we to capture these legendary Pokemon? Shall we just use a ball or would you prefer another method?”
“Very good question, my child. That almost slipped my mind.” Father Estelles picked up a case that was set on the floor beside him. He opened it to reveal three Pokeballs. They were far from normal, though. Each had a purple top with two pink, elevate circles. Above the button they all bore a large, capital ‘M’. “These are Master Balls. On any normal Pokemon they guarantee a capture; a legendary Pokemon will not be so simple. You will have to weaken each member of the trio before attempting the capture. I have no doubt in any of your abilities, but if you fail a capture with one of these balls the chances of success become close tozero. These came at great cost, but no price is too high to follow the will or Arceus.”
The floor remained silent as he finished explaining the method of capture. The members of the Chosen Seven all stared reverently at the presented Master Balls as if they were gifts from Arceus himself. Father Estelles waited for any further questioning, but none came. After a moment more he took two of the Master Balls from the case and delivered them to the other two groups. He gave one to Bertha and the other to Argenta.
“You are all dismissed. Byron and I will be leaving in the morning to head to Lake Valor. While I encourage prompt action, I advise against hastiness. These are three legends we’re dealing with. Arceus is on our side, but we must remember to respect his creations as well. May he protect you all in your journeys, and may you all find success.” With his closing speech Father Estelles turned and left the room. The remaining members did the same while breaking into groups with their designated partners. They would all try to retire for the night and rest for the coming trip.

“Yep. This sucks.” Auren sighed as he stepped out of Mt. Coronet onto route 216. There was no ground visible under the blanket of snow that stretched out in front of him. Other than the odd patch of grass the area was a single shade of white. “Can we go back into the cave? I preferred the dark, dank environment.”
“Oh shut up. This is light snow by comparison to where we’ll be headed.” Alandra wasn’t in the mood to hear any complaining. She always hated the journey though Mt. Coronet. She hated dark places, she hated sleeping on rocks, and she hated the feeling of being lost that she always got while in caves. They all just seemed too similar to her.
“I’m glad I had heavy clothes packed.” Auren was dressed in full snow gear. The only part of his body showing was his eyes. He had gloves, a jacket, pants, and a mask that covered his face and head. He reached into his bag and pulled out a pair of protective glasses, completing his ensemble.
“You look like a bank robber.” Frank said seriously. He was still dressed in his normal Karate gi, and showed no signs of discomfort.
“How are you not frozen?” Auren asked, almost awed at seeing such unwavering resistance.
“I’ve trained my body in all environments. From the freezing fields outside Snowpoint city to the blazing heats of Stark Mountain. I am one with nature.” Frank stated sagely. Auren was genuinely impressed by the large man.
“Well, I prefer traveling through here with a bit more warmth than Frank, but Auren…you look ridiculous.” Alandra had a light jacket on and gloves, but otherwise remained dressed in similar clothes to what she always wore. She would normally travel with Mercury out, but he needed a rest after keeping a flame going all the way through Mt. Coronet.
With the Blaze Pokemon leading them they had made good time. Traveling through Mt. Coronet could be a dangerous and difficult trip for even advanced travelers, but the group had made it through unscathed. Wild Pokemon never really wanted to challenge Tonitrus anyway, and a few other obviously strong Pokemon reduced wild challengers to almost none. There was the occasional brave or stupid Golbat that attacked the party, but they were never more than a mild annoyance. They had expected the trip to take around four days, but it had barely taken three.
“You dress the way you want, and I’ll dress the way I want, thank you very much.” Auren said, muffled by his mask. “Anyway, where to next? We have to be getting close to wherever it is we’re going.”
[Surely by now you’ve figured it out.] Tonitrus’ voice traveled through the link. [Only one place makes logical sense given the context and clues we’ve been given.] Auren nodded to let her know he agreed with her statement. He was pretty sure they were headed to Lake Acuity, or at least somewhere in the surrounding area.
“We’re going to head north. Towards Lake Acuity.” Alandra said, causing Auren to smirk as his line of thinking was confirmed.
“So when will I get to meet Uxie?” He asked nonchalantly.
“As soon as possible, I guess. It depends on where he…” Alandra stopped herself, but it was already too late. Her whole body visually tensed and she took a very serious tone. “How did you know Uxie was our leader? Who are you really?
“First off, I didn’t know Uxie was your leader until about five seconds ago when you told me.” He said, causing an embarrassed look to cross her features. “Secondly, I just pieced things together. I mean, how stupid do you think I am? You were surprised by Darkrai but then immediately accepted Mesprit. You’re taking me north where there are very few points of interest other than Snowpoint and Lake Acuity. I’ve known Mesprit for a long time, so why wouldn’t I believe in the existence of the other two Psychic Trio members?”
“I guess when you put it that way it does seem pretty obvious.” Frank chuckled a bit as he relaxed. Auren hadn’t even noticed his change in stance. “How did you know it was Uxie, though? Why not Azelf?”
“Well, I listen to a lot of rumors, and I’ve heard of Azelf sightings near Lake Valor a few times. So I based my guess on those rumors. Seems there is probably some truth to them.” Auren said, shrugging as if it didn’t really matter.
“Well, I guess that cat is out of the bag.” Alandra said while shaking her head. “I’m not sure that Uxie will like the fact that we’ve let someone know about him before they met him. Then again, he may enjoy the fact that you figured it out. He is the Knowledge Pokemon, after all.”
“Well I still have a few questions left unanswered, so don’t think I’ve lost interest in our trip just because I know who I’m going to be meeting.” Auren wanted to remind Alandra that she had left him with plenty of questions, and now he realized he’d be meeting a Pokemon that could answer all of them and more.
[We can finally learn more about what is going on. I am interested in learning about the Chosen Seven as well as the group Alandra belongs to. Uxie will be able to answer all of our questions, I’m sure.] Auren smirked a bit when he realized Tonitrus’ thoughts mirrored his own. His mind wandered for a moment to a topic that had been on his mind through most of the journey through Mt. Coronet.
Did he love Tonitrus? Auren knew he had strong feelings towards his long time friend, but was it love? What if he mated with his Pokemon and it ruined their friendship? He wasn’t really any closer to coming to a decision than he had been before, and the thought of how close he came to jumping right in a few mornings prior caused him a fair bit of confusion. Maybe Uxie could shed some light on his feelings as well. Feelings weren’t something Auren was adapt at dealing with; he had spent years burying them. He sighed mentally as the group traveled on, hoping where they were headed had some kind of heating system.
------------------------------------------
[I have always loved the snow. It’s so…pure.] The blue and black Fighting and Steel hybrid held his arms out wide as snow stuck to his fur. If he stood still for any amount of time he would collect a small patch of snow on his chest spike, but he didn’t mind. The cool air took him back to his earlier days of training, back to a time before he evolved.
“Isn’t it wonderful?” The pink haired trainer replied. “I’ve always loved the way snow felt under my feet.” She wiggled her toes a bit to feel the snow between her toes. Most people wouldn’t think of walking around in the snow barefoot, but Maylene had trained for years to condition her body like any true fighter should. “We should be near where they told us to go if I’m not mistaken.”
[I’m still not sure it was wise to trust those people so quickly. This could all be a trap.] The Lucario didn’t actually doubt the people who had confronted his mate, but he had to at least pretend to be the voice of reason.
“Yeah yeah, I hear ya. They came with a psychic type that instantly read our bond. If they would have had negative intentions why would they want us to come all the way out here? Besides Mr. Aura Pokemon, I’m sure ya could tell both of them also shared a mating bond.” Maylene knew her Pokemon was just trying to be cautious, but she couldn’t see the point in it.
The morning after Auren had departed two trainers had come to her gym and asked for a private meeting. There they confronted her about the bond she shared with Alistair, her Lucario. The trainers had asked her if she wanted to fight for the rights of other Pokemon lovers across the region and she had almost immediately jumped at the opportunity. They had simply given her a destination and told her everything would become clear once she had arrived. She couldn’t leave immediately, being a gym leader, but she quickly cleared a week of vacation time to see what was up. Now she was out in the snow only a short distance from Lake Acuity.
“I wonder what it is we’re supposed to do out here? They weren’t very specific about where we were supposed to go. Head to Lake Acuity and the rest will take care of itself. Well, we’re out here in the middle of nowhere in a light snowfall…I hope something happens soon.” Maylene said, though she sounded more excited than doubtful.
Alistair was about to comment when he felt multiple auras in the distance. He couldn’t quite make them out, but they all felt friendly.
[Heads up, Maylene. We’ve got a few trainers approaching, all of them are strong. One of them is incredibly powerful. A legendary Pokemon? No…it’s a…it can’t be.] Lucario went silent through the bond, and Maylene cocked an eyebrow.
“What is it? Do we need to take action? I doubt they’ve noticed us yet if they aren’t psychics or other Aura sensors.” Maylene asked, ready to run if they needed to. If one of the group was near a legendary level Alistair probably wouldn’t be able to handle it.
[No…I’m almost certain that we know a member of the group. I have no idea why he would be out here but I’m pretty sure one of them is Auren. The powerful Aura I’m feeling is identical to his Electivire, Tonitrus. Well…almost identical. Something is different, but I can’t tell what from this distance.] He sunk deeper into his Aura sensing abilities to attempt to figure out what was off.
“Auren? Let’s go see him!” Before the Aura Pokemon could stop her, Maylene took off in the direction Alistair had indicated. He took off after her, hoping his read was correct. Sure enough, after a short run Auren came into view, as did two additional trainers who seemed to be accompanying him. Maylene almost giggled when she caught Auren’s surprised face, she wasn’t used to seeing him make any facial expressions.
“Maylene?” Auren asked, his look of confusion still stuck on his face. “What are you doing out here?”
“I should be asking you the same thing. I thought you had something to do with contracting? Looks like you’re out having an adventure with some friends to me!” Maylene crossed her arms and cocked her head a bit, waiting for Auren to answer. Last time she had seen him he had quickly left, saying he had to work.
“Wait, what? I…ummm….” Auren thought back and remembered Maylene asking him what kind of work he did. Contracting. He was clearly caught, no one would believe he was contracting anything in the wilderness near Snowpoint. “Well I…you see…what happened was…”
“He has come to see what is going on to decide if he wants to join our group, much like you.” Alandra said seriously. She was trying not to laugh as Auren bumbled over his words. As calm and cool as he often tried to remain, it was amusing to see him so flustered and caught off guard.
“Wait, Maylene is here to join as well? Wouldn’t that mean…” Auren looked back at Maylene, then let his gaze drift to the Lucario that stood beside her.
“Yup! Alistair and I are lovers! Surprised?” Maylene cut Auren off with her answer, almost forgetting that he had lied to her before.
[That is what’s different. Maylene, Auren has formed a trainer bond with Tonitrus. Before he had walls up everywhere but now…his Aura has changed drastically and it has influenced hers as well.] Alistair filled Maylene in on his discovery.
“Ohhh, I see.” She said, squinting her eyes at Auren a bit, like she was trying to see the bond herself. “Well congrats on your bond, Auren! Isn’t it nice to be able to communicate with your team mate?”
“Yes.” Auren answered quickly so that he wouldn’t look like more like an idiot than he already did. He wanted to ask how she could tell, but remembered Lucario could sense auras and if the two were mated they’d be able to communicate. He finally removed the stupid look from his face and gathered his bearings. He certainly hadn’t expected to run into Maylene in the middle of a snow field. “Wait, you said she was coming out to join your group as well. How would you know that?”
“We have been in contact with our other members, you know?” Alandra said. “After you met with Maylene we thought she might be an enemy as well, but it turns out she could be a strong ally to our cause.”
“Wait, enemy? Why would I have been an enemy?” Maylene said, clearly confused. “You’re with Auren traveling here, so ya all must be his friends. Why would ya think I was against ya if I met with Auren?”
“It seems there are many questions to answer.” A wise, measured voice traveled through the air and surprised everyone. “It is good that you’re all here. There is much to talk about and there is not much time.” The group collectively turned to the speaker. A small Pokemon floated nearby, and its eyes were closed. The red jewel set in its forehead shimmered brightly even though there was no direct sunlight. Most of the party recognized the Pokemon immediately.
Uxie.
-------------------------------------
“How close are we, Palmer?” Argenta yelled. It was difficult to communicate while moving quickly on Pokemon who were flying. “We should let our Pokemon rest before we challenge Uxie. They’ll need to be at their best if we hope to capture it.” She cast a quick glace down at her mount. He was an incredibly loyal, ruthless Dragon. His eyes looked kind, but she knew that was a front. Her Pokemon was heartless, just like her. Few opponents had ever bested her Garchomp in a match.
“I’d say about an hour out.” Palmer yelled back. He was also atop a Dragon type, but his looked far different. His Pokemon was bulkier and built to dish out some heavy hits, where hers was sleek and fast. Garchomp was known as the Mach Pokemon for a reason. Had she not been holding back, Garchomp would have already gotten Argenta to the destination. “I agree, we should probably let them rest beforehand. Then we’ll send the others a message to let them know we’re in position.”
“Right.” Argenta ran through the plan in her head for what seemed like the thousandth time. Father Estelles had given added instruction before each group had left. Apparently the Psychic Trio could communicate directly. Each group would send a message to inform the others they were in place so the attacks could be coordinated. Attacking at separate times would remove the element of surprise, and that was something they desperately needed. “How do you think the father knows so much about the Psychic Trio? Seems like information on such reclusive Pokemon would be incredibly limited.”
“It’s best not to question it. He is given divine right, after all.” Palmer responded almost immediately. If he questioned the father’s knowledge, he didn’t let it show. Argenta nodded, and decided that conversation with Palmer was as pointless as always. The man was always in a rush and never took time to sit and talk, so his conversational skills were desperately lacking. She sighed and considered herself fortunate to have such a capable, if not boring, partner.
------------------------------------
“What do you mean there isn’t much time, master?” Alandra asked, not sure of her mentor’s meaning
“I mean what I say. The forces of evil move against us as we speak. We haven’t much time before they arrive. Their plan is moving forward…and please don‘t call me master, Alandra.” Uxie responded.
“Wait…what’s going on?” Maylene asked, clearly confused over the whole situation.
“I will make all things clear, but let us first enter my home. I do not wish to speak out in the open where any may hear.” The Willpower Pokemon shined dimly and before anyone could pose a question he teleported them all away. In the blink of an eye they were inside a large, well lit cave. “Now then. Allow me to address most of the questions you have. I’ll start with you, Auren. Most of Maylene’s questions shall be answered simultaneously. Maylene, a few of your questions must be answered by Auren himself. I shall not expose his…private affairs. Now, ask your first question.”
“What is going on? Who are the Chosen Seven? What is this group that you’re the leader of?” Auren asked the three questions that were on the top of his list.
“Well, technically that was three questions, but I shall answer all of them at once. The Chosen Seven is an organization led by the church. The group I lead is a resistance, if you will. We are trying to fight back and prevent the Chosen Seven from reaching their goals. While I cannot be sure, I am relatively certain that they are led by a man named Gabriel Estelles.” Auren’s eyes widened a bit as he looked at Alandra.
“Estelles?” He asked her quietly. She nodded her head and stared at the floor.
“Yes. He is Alandra’s father. He has also been your employer for the last few years.” Uxie continued.
“My employer? So you mean the man who I’ve been meeting with was the head of the Church of Arceus?” Auren was astonished. How had he not noticed such a thing. “So when he asked me to join the church…” Auren trailed off as he pieced everything together.
“Yes. He was asking you to work for the Chosen Seven. You would have been a back up, of course. One such as you could never sit in one of the seven seats, not with your branding.” Auren pulled his hand out of his pocket and looked at where his ring finger should be. He heard Maylene gasp beside him.
“But Alanda is his daughter. Is he so devout in his faith that he would kill his own daughter over her beliefs?” Auren asked, anger edging into his voice.
“If it were her beliefs alone, I could not say. However, she is a stain on his record. The fact that she is the very thing the church is trying to ‘cleanse’ is a testament against his ‘divine right’. He cannot allow her to live the way she does because there would be backlash from his followers if word got out.” Uxie said.
“That makes sense, but it’s utterly despicable.” Auren said, looking back to Alandra. “I’ve only known you for a short time, but I can tell your love is genuine. It’s not something evil like your father wants people to believe. Ok, so what is the goal of The Chosen Seven?” Auren asked, looking back to Uxie.
“The goal of the Chosen Seven is simple. They want to purify the region of all impure humans and Pokemon. Truthfully, on their own they would only be a nuisance. That is not the case. They have a powerful ally behind them, though I’m sure most of them aren’t aware of that fact. The father is almost certainly the only one who knows who their backer is; most Arceans frown upon the thought of teaming up with a Dark type.” Auren immediately knew who Uxie was talking about.
“Darkrai.” He said, causing Uxie to lightly nod his head.
“Yes. He is one of the most powerful Dark types. I do not know his true plan, but I do know what plan he has given the church. I said before that the forces of evil move against us. That is because the Chosen Seven plan on capturing Azelf, Mesprit, and myself. Darkrai has told Gabriel of the Red Chain.” Uxie said, causing all in attendance to raise their brows.
“The Red Chain?” Alandra asked. Even she didn’t know what he was talking about. Alandra had been told of the Chosen Seven’s goal, but never its method.
“Indeed. Years ago a man named Cyrus tried the same thing. His plan was incredibly similar to the one that the Chosen Seven is using, but Darkrai was not influencing him. Using the Red Chain, Father Estelles plans on calling forth the Temporal and Spatial Pokemon, Dialga and Palkia. The idea is that he can harness their power to destroy any he considers impure.” Uxie paused in his explanation to allow what he had said to sink in.
“So their goal is to bring forth the Creation Pokemon to erase ‘impure’ humans and Pokemon? That sounds incredibly dangerous.” Auren said. He tried to consider the full implications of trying to control such powerful Pokemon.
“Yes, that is correct. That is where the Red Chain comes in. It can be used to pull the Creation Pokemon from their dimensions and shackle them. Cyrus failed in his plan because he was taken by surprise by the third member of the Creation trio, Giratina. Darkrai is certainly aware of the Renegade Pokemon, however. I fear Darkrai’s true plan involves Giratina more than the other two, and that he has convinced Father Estelles that he is simply another Pokemon to be controlled while the destruction of the impure takes place.” Uxie paused again.
“So what is the Red Chain, exactly? Can’t we stop their whole plan if we keep them from acquiring it?” Maylene asked, attempting to find a weakness in their plan.
“The Red Chain is formed of the jewels that you see in the bodies of the Psychic Trio.” Uxie put a hand to the gym in his forehead. “Their plan involves capturing us and removing these jewels.”
“So if we can keep them from capturing you they can’t go through with their plan? Wait…what you said earlier about evil approaching, are they coming right now?” Auren asked.
“They are indeed. I’m sure they think they have the element of surprise, but we can sense Darkrai. Or rather, we can sense the blank area where Darkrai is. His immense Dark power leaves a huge blank spot wherever he goes. He is currently headed to Lake Valor, so it is safe to assume that other members are heading here as well.” Uxie confirmed.
“Well, between all of us I’m sure we can stop a couple of trainers from capturing you. Will that stop their plan?” Auren asked. Uxie shook his head.
“No. They only truly need to capture one of us. When Cyrus captured us years ago he used strange machines to duplicate the jewels to make the Red Chain. If you prevent my capture you will only slow the process. Sadly it seems like Azelf will certainly be captured. He will come up against Darkrai, who he cannot hope to defeat. I cannot be sure how Mesprit will fare; it is dependant upon how strong the trainers sent against her are.” Uxie said somberly.
“We should go to help them, then!” Alandra almost yelled. “Why didn’t you send groups of us to help defend against the Chosen Seven?”
“I am afraid it would not have mattered.” Uxie answered. “If we had sent all of our members against the group approaching Azelf we still would have failed. You know as well as anyone how powerful your father is, Alandra. With Darkrai adding to that power…there is nothing we can do. I cannot be sure how strong the team heading our way is, but I cannot ask any of you to fight them.”
“You don’t have to ask! You’re our leader and the reason we’re all united in the first place. If you think we’re going to abandon you…” Alandra was getting flustered now, but Uxie cut her off.
“I am not asking you to abandon me. I am telling you to leave. As you said, I am your leader and I am ordering you to flee. I cannot risk all of your lives. You are like children to me and I do not wish to see even one of you harmed here today, not for my sake. I have done all I can for all of you, but I’m afraid my usefulness is at its end. You will either leave here, or I will teleport you away.” Uxie said, leaving no room for argument.
“That’s well and good,” Auren said with a smirk, “but I’m not a member of your group. I don’t really enjoy taking orders, either. You can try to teleport me, but you should know I can teleport myself back just as easily if I have to. You can do what you want with anyone else, but I’m going to stay and assess the situation before I decide if I should flee or not. As far as I know the Chosen Seven had seven members, hence the name. Since I killed one of them, they’re sitting on six members. Assuming they’re all about equal in strength means that there will probably only be two of them heading this way. No offense Uxie, but I see this as a great opportunity. If we can stop the members coming this way we’ll greatly weaken the Chosen Seven.”
“They are incredibly powerful. I will not risk the lives of my underlings for my own sake. You must understand…I consider you all my children. Alandra, Frank, Gardenia, and all the others are incredibly important to me. I will not risk their safety for my own.” Uxie stated resolutely. “Maylene, you don’t have any Psychic types do you?”
“No I don’t, why do ya ask…” Maylene answered then immediately disappeared with a slight ‘pop’.
“Wait, please! Let us fight beside you Master Uxie, I promise…” Alandra shouted before she too disappeared. Frank didn’t say anything, instead he gave a small nod before disappearing himself.
“I have already sent the other members who were here to safety. It is just you and me here, Auren Cole. You and your partner are more powerful than any of our number. I can’t promise your safety, but I will allow you to fight beside me against the coming foe. If things are looking dire, I will send you away as well. Understood?” Uxie said, speaking to Auren now that they were alone.
“Understood. If it’s just us Tonitrus can really cut loose without fear. It’s been a long time since you really fought at your full strength, hasn’t it?” Auren asked, looking to the Thunderbolt Pokemon.
[It has. I’ll need to charge up if I’m going to fight at my max, though. Ask how long we have, please.] Tonitrus responded.
“We only have a few moments.” Uxie said, momentarily catching Tonitrus off guard. “I can read thoughts you know. Even if they are sent though a bond.”
[Of course. Alright, I’m going to start charging power. Hopefully together we’re enough to win this battle.] As the thought finished Tonitrus began to hum like a generator. It was quiet at first, but the pitch quickly rose in volume. Uxie and Auren walked down the passage that would lead outside as she charged, ready to meet their foes head on. By the time they saw the light outside Tonitrus sounded like a city sized power plant. Then she went silent.
“So you’re finished?” Auren asked, earning a nod from Tonitrus.
“Not a moment too soon.” Uxie said, sensing the approaching threat. As they stood two Pokemon landed heavily, creating craters below them. The cloud of dust they left made it impossible for Auren to immediately identify what he was up against, but after a moment it began to settle. He identified the Dragon Pokemon first.
“Alright Tonitrus, we’ve got a Dragonite. Be ready for a tough battle.” Auren knew Dragonite was almost a legendary Pokemon in terms of strength, but he wouldn’t be put off by that. Tonitrus had beaten multiple Dragonite in her time. Then he turned his attention to the second Pokemon that had finally become visible. He felt his stomach drop as he identified the Mach Pokemon, Garchomp.
“Shit.”

A/n: Whew, sorry about the wait. I know I said I’d update weekly, but class has been pretty time consuming this semester. If I’m not reading some overly long Old English poem, I’m writing lines of code. I haven’t had very much time to write Seeing the Lightning. I have had a lot of time to think about where it’s going and I have some fun stuff planned ahead, don’t doubt. The next chapter is gonna be really fun to write, and I’ll try to get it out in two weeks time.
Also, if you want to contact me directly my email address is coelacanth88@hotmail.com I’ll be adding it to my user profile as well. I appreciate the positive reviews as well, I liked the premise for my story but I think my writing is crap. Most of my English professors have told me that writer’s are often very critical of their own works though.
