Chapter 7: The Morning After and a Vampire
Tsukune was awakened the next morning by a flick on his forehead. As he blinked in the morning sun, the world slowly resolved itself into the ceiling of the hotel room. His neck ached dully.“It’s about time,” Moka teased him with a smirk. “We should get dressed if we want to catch the bus.” She leaned in to deliver a quick peck on the cheek before clambering over him.At first Tsukune could only watch as Moka glided in all her feline grace to the closet to dress. He tried not to stare – too much, anyway – as she bent over to pull up her thong. He pulled his boxers into place while she fastened her bra. Joining her at the closet entrance, he donned the remainder of last night’s outfit and even, at her request, zipped her dress fully clothed.Their eyes met, and for a long moment both of them considered staying in that room for another night, yielding another opportunity for them to fully enjoy one another’s company. They could almost see the idea passing through each other’s eyes. Both of them reddened at the notion.“We can’t,” Moka whispered, almost pleading. “I might grow too accustomed to being out and about. I might never want to ‘go under’ again for that other me.”Tsukune nodded gravely. “Let’s go, then, while we still can.”~~~~~The elevator ride down to the lobby seemed longer than it actually was, due to the silence between the two erstwhile young lovers. Upon exiting arm-in-arm, they noticed the same gentleman from the previous night behind the front desk, who immediately gave them a knowing look. Moka’s cheeks burned; she felt as though a large, glowing sign hung over her head, one that read NO LONGER VIRGIN in flashing neon characters.Noticing how Moka tensed under the man’s leering, Tsukune fixed him with a dark glare. As he handed over the keys, Moka sensed a faint surge in monster energy from Tsukune, much like the one in the club last night. She smirked to herself as the leer dissolved into a somewhat nervous, even panicked, expression.Their business concluded, the teens then left the hotel and strolled along the streets. All around them, the town bustled in the brisk air of an autumn midmorning. The sun shone clear and bright, bathing everything – cars and cabs, bikes and buses, passersby and their pets – in a cheery glow. Or so it seemed, at least, to the two young lovers as they headed for the bus stop to return to Yokai Academy. While they walked, Moka noticed that heads turned towards them, conversations quieted, and gazes lingered as they passed. “Why are they all staring at us, Tsukune?” she murmured. “Surely a young couple arm-in-arm isn’t an unusual sight around here – we’ve passed others.”“True,” Tsukune answered, “but you’re, uh, strikingly beautiful. I doubt anyone in this town has ever seen anyone like you.”Moka blushed furiously at the compliment. Others, of course, had commented on her beauty before now. When Tsukune said it, and how he said it just now, brought a smile to her lips – a tight-lipped, controlled smile, to be sure, but a genuine one all the same. They arrived at the bus stop with time to spare. The teens sat in a companionable silence, Moka’s head resting on Tsukune’s shoulder. The young woman fidgeted, as though she couldn’t quite get comfortable. Her thighs rubbed together, clenching and unclenching, a recently-sated, now-familiar yearning now reignited within her and building due to Tsukune’s proximity.Fighting to rein in her urges, she sighed to herself, I wish we’d had time to make love again this morning. How long before we have another chance? She bit her lip with uncertainty. Maybe once we return? Her nether regions moistened and tingled with anticipation.Soon, the bus arrived punctually, and the teenagers embarked. The driver, grinning around his cigar, asked them how their date went. “Just great!” Tsukune answered, a bit too quickly perhaps. He flushed and scratched the back of his head before adding, “Thanks for the ride… rides.” The bus driver jerked his head to indicate that the passengers take their seats; after a moment’s eye contact with Moka, he extinguished his cigar.Moka and Tsukune occupied the same seats as they did before en route into town, and Tsukune again permitted his date the window seat. She’s been pensive all morning, he thought. I hope she doesn’t regret what happened. For her part, the vampire stared forlornly out the window as the world passed by. Not unlike my life inside the rosary, she reflected. It’ll only be harder to go back now, after having such a wonderful experience with Tsukune. Would it still be so hard, though, if we hadn’t… become one? she wondered. Would it be harder, knowing I’d passed up such an opportunity?Outside the window, the human world vanished, replaced by the swirling chaos of the mystical barrier protecting Yokai Academy. Moka kept her gaze fixed on the window, unwilling to look at Tsukune, lest her desires surge once more. Just sitting next to him is keeping the flames lit, she marveled, her thighs rubbing together. So lost in her on thoughts was Moka that it startled her when Tsukune took her hand in his. “I hope you had fun on our date,” he opened. She could feel his quizzical gaze.“Very much so,” she answered, her cheeks reddening. “I hope we can do this again soon,” she added, hoping that he’d pick up on the coded subtext. She had no desire for the bus driver to overhear anything scandalous.“You mean,” he breathed, his voice practically a whisper, “that you don’t regret it?”She shook her head and hoped against hope that Tsukune’s comment had remained unnoticed. She didn’t turn to look at him, but she stroked his thumb with hers reassuringly. Her urges surged at the contact.“I’ve been wondering,” he continued, still whispering. “Why did you… I mean, what brought you to… that decision?”Because I’m in love with you, you idiot, she wanted to blurt – but she couldn’t, not here. Moka sighed. “If you can’t figure it out on your own,” she quipped, “I’m not going to spell it out for you.”“Oh. Well… I’m glad,” he finally managed, “that we, uh, had that chance.” Tsukune’s cheeks burned at the memories, even with the circumlocutions. I guess I still don’t understand her all that well, he realized glumly. After a brief silence, Tsukune asked, “Something else I’ve been wondering – how long do vampires live?”“We’re immortal,” Moka answered tightly, “unless we’re killed. Please don’t inquire,” she added, heading off his next question about why she sounded so sad when she answered. “I doubt the other Moka has even considered that.”Tsukune nodded and looked at the floor of the bus. I was afraid of that, he thought. If we end up together, I’ll leave both of them behind. He paused at his own line of thought. Both of them? Aw, man, this just keeps getting more complicated…~~~~~The bus arrived at the stop within the protective dimensional barrier, so that they were now definitively in the monster world once more, just outside the grounds of the Academy. The teens disembarked and walked hand-in-hand towards the dormitories. Tsukune found himself saddened that the date was winding down, but Moka planned to extend it a little longer.Tsukune walked with his date to the spot where the sidewalk split, one path leading to the girls’ dorm and the other to the boys’. He steeled himself to bid the inner Moka farewell, but she fixed him with a shy, almost embarrassed expression. Her cheeks glowed pink.“I was wondering,” she began, now looking resolutely at the pavement, “if you might wish to, ah, tour my room.” Hastily, she added, “It’s decorated to the tastes of the other me, so it’s nothing grotesque. In fact, it’s almost too feminine, with so much pink and purple.”The young man’s eyes widened. A chance to see Moka’s room? he wondered. Is she implying what I think she’s implying? Aloud, he answered, “Moka, that’d be great. I’d be honored.”The vampire looked up towards her date’s eyes. En route, they spied a pair of fingernail-sized circular scars that appeared to be healing puncture wounds. “Tsukune!” she cried, reaching a hand towards the area where she’d bitten him. “Is this… is this what I did?” she murmured as all the sensations – the feeling of her fangs penetrating skin, the warmth of his blood on her lips, the sound of his voice as he cried out in agony – came rushing back to her in an instant.“Moka, it’s okay,” he reassured her, even as he shied away from her touch.Moka felt herself drawn closer. I want… what? To bite? To kiss? To mate? Must I hurt him if I’m with him like this? “Tsukune—““Big Sis!” rang out the shrill voice of Kokoa, Moka’s younger sister. The twintailed redhead dashed towards them from the girls’ dorm, clad in her usual blouse, skirt, and knee-high socks. Her arms stretched towards her real, silver-haired older sister.“Not now, Kokoa,” sighed Moka, glad that the younger vampire couldn’t see her wincing in frustration at yet another interrupted moment on this date. For all that Kokoa wasn’t a very strong fighter, she’d nonetheless destroyed the moment. “Can’t you see I’m busy?”“Awww, c’mon, Big Sis,” whined Kokoa, stopping short at Moka’s rebuke. “I’ve been looking everywhere for you. I overheard those other loser girls say you’d be out this weekend.” She glared at Tsukune. “Why do you wanna spend your time with this dweeb instead of your own flesh-and-blood sister?”“Not that it’s any of your business,” Moka sniffed, “but we were on a date last night in the human world and only just got back, thanks to the bus driver’s bizarre schedule.”Kokoa cackled. “Yeah, right, Big Sis – like I’d believe you stayed somewhere overnight with that waste of space.”The silver-haired vampire turned to glare at her little sister. “Whom I spend my time with while I’m out is my choice, understand?” she growled through clenched teeth. She shifted her weight as if preparing to fight. “Disparage my decision again, and see how quickly I teach you your place!”Kokoa grinned from ear to ear and took up a fighting posture as well. “Really?” she squealed. “You mean it, Big Sis?” Tsukune shook his head, unable to understand how or why anyone could look forward so gleefully to receiving Moka’s kicks to the face.“It won’t be like our sparring sessions,” warned the older girl, “where I hold back in order to help you improve. For your disrespectful remarks about Tsukune, I will break you.” Tsukune looked at Moka in shock; even he could feel the monster energy radiating from her – not to mention how serious she sounded with her threat. The redheaded vampire balked, the raw menace in Moka’s words underscoring the overwhelming monster energy pouring forth from her S-class super-monster sister. All this… for him? she marveled. Sensing a strange resonance of Moka’s energy in Tsukune, she focused on him. The human fidgeted under her gaze.Kokoa stood up straight and stepped back, her eyes wide and glassy. She wore a look of purest agony on her face as she bowed deeply at the waist. “F-Forgive me, sister,” she choked out. “I didn’t know… didn’t realize… things between you… had progressed so far.”Moka and Tsukune’s eyes widened and their faces reddened. “What?” Moka murmured. How did she know? she thought but refrained from asking aloud, not wanting to confirm Kokoa’s suspicion.“I see the bite mark on his neck,” Kokoa griped, folding her arms petulantly, “and I guess it really isn’t my business, but…” She squeezed her eyes shut. “Because you were sealed away, there’s probably some vampire stuff you don’t know about. Stuff Dad wanted me to tell you, because we’re sisters.”“Why haven’t you mentioned it before now?” grumbled Moka, straightening up from her fighting stance.Kokoa pouted. “I got so excited when I finally saw you – the real you, not that other lame one,” she explained. “I got sidetracked and forgot,” she added sheepishly, staring at the ground. “Anyway, I should probably tell you now – in my room, so we can have some privacy.” With that, she turned and trudged towards the girls’ dormitory. On her shoulder, Kou the bat, Kokoa’s ever-present familiar/weapon, asked, “Should I even log that as a showdown? Whee!”“Nah, just forget it, Kou-buddy,” answered Kokoa morosely.Meanwhile, Moka turned to Tsukune. “I’ve never seen her back down like that,” she told him. “Correction: I’ve never seen her back down at all.”Tsukune smiled at her, clearly relieved it hadn’t come to blows, especially given the ruthlessness of Moka’s threat. “Whatever it was,” he replied, “it sounded important. You should go hang out with your sister.”The remaining vampire nodded and tucked her hair behind her ear. “Rain check on… on visiting my room?” she asked, crimson-cheeked.“Sure… if the other Moka’s okay with it,” he answered, equally red.On impulse, she kissed him on the cheek before turning to follow her sister. Over her shoulder, she flashed him a coy, even flirty, smirk and told him, “See ya next time, Tsukune.”The young man watched her go, silver hair swaying with each step, in perfect counterpoint to her hips. His eyes lingered on her rear until she stepped into the dormitory and waved at him. He waved back as the door closed behind her. Rubbing the still-tender spot on his neck where she’d bitten him, he wondered, What have I gotten myself into now?_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
