Chapter 8: Love Bites
- Violence, Voy
Kokoa’s room, Moka saw when she arrived, was a mess. Homework lay strewn across her desk. Textbooks littered the floor, along with socks, PE outfits, and even a still-damp towel. The bed was unmade. Bureau drawers sat ajar with clothing protruding, including several bras and panties. The elder sister shook her head in disdain.“Forgive the mess, sister,” Kokoa pled. “I wasn’t expecting company.”“Regardless,” Moka chided, “this is inexcusable.”Kokoa folded her arms. “We have more important things to discuss than how messy my room is,” she groused.“Get on with it then,” Moka shot back, also folding her arms.“How could you?” mumbled the redheaded vampire. “How could you… with him? With that… that human? He’s not worthy of a vampire of your stature and beauty.”Moka’s cheeks burned brightly, but she still managed to fix her sister with a withering glare. “I… I don’t know what you’re talking about,” she bluffed.Kokoa rolled her eyes. “I saw the bite marks.”“The other me, the one you despise, bites Tsukune every day,” the older vampire countered, “but you don’t object to that. So what if I wanted a taste?”The younger sister stared incredulously at her beloved older sister. “Those weren’t feeding marks. You know that feeding doesn’t even leave marks, Big Sis! Don’t play dumb!”Moka shrugged. “I thought I just bit harder than the other me,” she explained.Kokoa looked down, her hair hiding her eyes. “You really don’t know,” she mumbled. She shook her head slowly. “Dad was right – sealing you away kept you from learning important vampire things.”The older vampire sighed impatiently. The sooner she spits this out, the sooner I can move on to having a conversation with the other me, she thought. “Why don’t you just explain it then?” she snapped.“Vampire bites only leave marks while… ummm… while, y’know… m-mating,” sputtered Kokoa. Her whole face began to match her hair as images of her sister and Tsukune “mating” danced in her imagination. “It’s a mystical mark, letting other vampires know, ‘This is mine.’”“I… I certainly didn’t intend to… to mark him,” stammered the silver-haired beauty. “Maybe you’re too young to understand, but I felt these intense urges I couldn’t deny. They were like an itch I just had to scratch.”“Jeez, Big Sis, I’m fifteen, not five. I know what it feels like to want… this or that,” admitted the younger vampire. She glanced at her bed, glad that the naughty magazines she perused every night while satisfying herself remained fully out of sight.“The mating bite isn’t just about… the physical part,” continued Kokoa. “It… it shows… how you feel.”Moka’s eyes widened. “How I… feel?” I wanted to tell him I loved him… so I bit him? And that’s how vampires show their love? The petite vampire bit her lip, fighting tears. “So it’s true?” she choked out. “Not only did my beautiful, perfect older sister lose her… her purity… but she did so to… a worthless human?”Moka’s blood-red eyes narrowed. “I wouldn’t have given myself to a worthless person,” she answered tersely. “The sooner you learn that Tsukune isn’t worthless, the better.”“What’s so great about him?” grumbled Kokoa.“I made him mine,” the older sister replied. “Isn’t that proof enough?”“No.” Kokoa flopped down onto the chair beside her desk and awaited her sister to justify herself.“Fine,” Moka sighed, leaning against the wall. “He’s brave – he’s stood up to all sorts of monsters strong enough to beat him to a pulp. Including me.” Kokoa blinked, clearly impressed.“He’s also kind,” continued the older vampire, a smile forming on her lips. “He makes me – both sides of me – feel… special. The other girls feel the same, I think.”“So that’s why they hang all over him,” the younger vampire snarked.“Not to mention, he’s planning on letting me out more, not just to fight,” added Moka. “That means I’ll have more time to spend with you, too.”Kokoa beamed. “Really? You mean it?” After a moment, she conceded, “Maybe he’s not so bad.”Moka chuckled. “That’ll do for now,” she responded. “Thanks for… explaining all the vampire stuff to me.”“At least you didn’t have to have this conversation with Dad!” remarked the seal-less vampire. Both sisters laughed.A companionable silence ensued.“I guess I’ve got a lot to think about,” realized Moka, breaking the silence. “Until I figure things out, don’t tell Dad, okay?”The younger sibling nodded. “I’ll keep your secret, Big Sis. But if he encounters either of you, he’ll know what happened.” She tapped her nose meaningfully. “And you know how protective he is of us.”Moka smirked. “I won’t let anything happen to Tsukune,” she vowed, “even if I have to defy Father.”Kokoa shook her head sadly. “I still don’t really get why you’d sully yourself with a weak, pathetic human. You could’ve done much better, Big Sis,” she teased.Moka’s gaze hardened, a predatory smirk forming on her lips. “Didn’t I warn you earlier about disparaging my decisions?”~~~~~Outside the dorms, the autumnal sun shone bright in the sky, glinting off the buildings’ many windows. Ginei Morioka – “Gin” for short – munched on his roast beef sandwich on the roof of the boys’ dorm. His camera was set up, aimed at the girls’ dorm; but, to his dismay, he couldn’t get any good shots due to all the glare.A crash from one of the windows caught his ear. Through the lens, he saw a petite, redheaded, twin-tailed figure flying through the air, until she hit the ground with a thud. Despite his penchant for voyeurism, the werewolf also had a noble streak, which spurred him to dash in the blink of an eye to the girl’s side. He recognized the crumpled form of Kokoa, a first-year student, a vampire, and Moka’s sister.Gin checked her pulse. “Out cold,” he muttered. He glanced up at the shattered window and saw the flowing silver locks of Moka, the vampire who’d beaten him up last year for framing Tsukune as the campus peeping Tom and for trying to make her his girlfriend. What the hell? What’s she doing out? he wondered. Does that mean Tsukune’s inside the girls’ dorm? That lucky bastard!“When she wakes up,” called out the cold contralto of the mighty vampire, “tell her I said she should remember her place.” After a moment’s pause, she added, “I’ll remind you of yours, too, if I catch you peeping again.” With that, she left the window.Nearby, a bat – Kokoa’s familiar, Kou, as Gin recalled – landed on a tree branch. “Today’s big showdown,” he explained to the werewolf, “lasted a mere five squiggles!”The third-year student shook his head, picking up Kokoa to carry her to the infirmary. He sighed, “I cannot wait to graduate.”~~~~~In her room, Moka stared at the rosary in her hand. Seated on her bed, clad only in a towel, she’d planned to relinquish control to the other Moka to bathe. Upon gathering the necessary herbs, though, the silver-haired vampire began having second thoughts about sealing herself away again. Why should I? I now have reasons to remain unsealed: a sister who needs me and a… a lover, whom I desire. Why does it have to be this way, she lamented, that I must remain sealed away, inert and alone? Why do you even exist? What is your purpose? The rosary sat dumbly in her hand.I suppose it’s not really fair to you either, is it? You have my memories, but you’re utterly unaware while I’m unsealed; I at least have some awareness of what’s happening to you. She had a flash of insight, and of pity for her counterpart. You didn’t ask to have to share a life, either. The young woman clutched the cold metal more tightly, glad that she was alone so that no one would see the tears that threatened to leak from her eyes. She put on the leather band – collar, really – that the rosary attached to. With a deep breath and the thought, At least I have some surprises to tell you about, she affixed the rosary. As usual, the “landscape” within the seal stretched featurelessly into infinity in all directions, as still and quiet as the void of space. Outer Moka looked up from her curled-up position as the inner one materialized. Her soft green eyes shone with hope as she asked, “What happened? How did your date with Tsukune go?”Inner Moka blushed. “I have good news,” she answered, at which point the pink-haired girl’s face brightened; “but I also have bad news,” she continued, which caused the pink-haired girl’s expression to fall. “Which would you prefer to hear first?”“The good news, I guess,” replied the gentle persona. “The bad won’t seem so bad afterward.”“That remains to be seen,” the warrior persona declared. “The good news is that I had a pleasant evening with Tsukune last night.” She smiled tightly, and the other persona beamed in anticipation. “If you want to date him, he has my approval.”“That’s great news!” crowed outer Moka. “I can’t wait for my turn.”“There’s more,” warned inner Moka. “Tsukune thinks it might be a good idea if I spent more time unsealed, about one week each month.”The pink-haired Moka blinked in surprise. “Oh… well, I guess that’s good news too,” she told her other self, “although I don’t really look forward to being stuck in here more.” That remark earned her a withering glare from the silver-haired Moka.“Now for the bad news,” said the now-miffed Moka who spend most of her time in here. “My date with Tsukune went very, very well – unexpectedly well, you might say.”“Wait, I thought that was good news,” replied outer Moka.“You and Tsukune are perfect for each other,” scoffed inner Moka, rolling her eyes. “Both of you are so dense sometimes, I swear.”Outer Moka stared at her other self. Eventually her eyes widened as realization dawned. “Oh. Oh… you mean… you did… this and that?”Exasperated, inner Moka snarked, “No one can overhear, so it’s safe to say – we became one, we had sex, we fucked. Take your pick.”A pair of pink eyebrows drew together. “How… how could you?” she cried. “Even knowing how I feel about Tsukune, you went that far with him without even asking me! On the first date, no less!”“It’s my body too,” shot back the normally-reserved persona. “In fact, if you’d actually followed my advice and relieved your own sexual tension sometimes, I wouldn’t have had to satisfy my raging libido in that way. It’s no different from how you drink from him because he’s present and willing and has what you want.”“Oh, so it’s my fault?” yelled the usually-demure persona. “Well, in that case, you can be sure I’ll start… doing that on my own… if it’ll keep you from jumping Tsukune at every opportunity!”“Did you just call me a tramp?” asked inner Moka. She felt almost uncomfortable, arguing with her other self like this. It was as though she were unused to maintaining an argument; but in here, she couldn’t silence her opponent with a kick. “Besides, if you’d had the opportunity, wouldn’t you?”“Well… yes… probably,” stammered outer Moka, “but I’ve been in love with Tsukune for a long time now. I thought you didn’t even like him!” She studied her inner persona closely. “You’re in love with Tsukune too, aren’t you?”The silver-haired persona turned her head and answered, “M-Maybe… if what Kokoa said about the mating bite is true.” She glanced at her outer self and challenged, “So what if I am?”The pink-haired side fumed. “You didn’t want Tsukune to earn your approval at all!” she accused. “You wanted to claim him first.”“All I planned was to have a date with him,” inner Moka assured her counterpart. She leveled her gaze at the other persona. “Is that so much to ask? I didn’t plan for the rest.” She snorted. “It wouldn’t have even happened if the bus driver hadn’t left us in the human world overnight, forcing us to share a hotel room for the night.”Outer Moka shook her head. “Now it’s the bus driver’s fault,” she scoffed. “You can’t keep blaming everyone else for your decisions.”“Why not? It’s not like I’m used to making any, beyond ‘How long should I let this fight last?’” snapped inner Moka. “You get to have friends, freedom, a life; I won’t apologize for seizing an opportunity to sleep with the man I love.” She bit her lip, realizing immediately what she’d just said.Outer Moka realized it too. “So I was right,” she breathed. Her brow furrowed. “And what was that about a ‘mating bite’?”“When I slept with Tsukune, I bit him on the neck and left a noticeable scar,” she replied, her cheeks red at the memory. “According to Kokoa, it marks Tsukune as mine.”“Just yours?” gasped the gentle persona. The warrior persona shrugged. “I don’t know,” she answered. “That was the first I’d heard of such a thing, so I have no idea how it applies to our… unique… situation.” She smirked and added, “The bite itself felt instinctual – Kokoa said that it’s how vampires demonstrate their feelings – so this is your warning if you decide to sleep with Tsukune as well.”Outer Moka remained silent for a long moment. Finally she asked, “What… what was it like?”Inner Moka swallowed. “I… I’ve never felt so… so alive,” she answered. “I don’t really know how to describe it, but I’m sure you’ll know what I mean soon.” She fixed her other self with a knowing look. “Don’t deny you’re already planning to make love to him yourself.”“Even more than before,” replied outer Moka with her head high, as though she had nothing of which to be ashamed in the admission. “I’ve been eager to try it ever since that day in Tsukune’s room at his home in the human world,” she added with a deep blush. “If the other girls hadn’t interfered, that would have been my… my first.”The silver-haired persona chuckled. “Maybe it still will be,” she pointed out, “since it’ll still be your first. Regardless, once you’ve had your turn, we’ll have to discuss how to move forward, since we’ll have to share our Tsukune.”The pink-haired persona nodded resolutely. “I look forward to that conversation,” she told her other half. She closed her eyes and faded away, returning to the outside world.Alone again, sealed away again, inner Moka allowed herself the luxury of laughing with joy and hugging her arms. “Very soon, Tsukune, you’ll know how both Mokas feel about you,” she apostrophized, sure that her outer self would tell Tsukune about their conversation. “She’ll tell you for me – tell you what I couldn’t.”______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
A/N: Another week, another chapter. Things are winding down for this story; but as I mentioned in the AN for the last chapter, I'm almost finished with the next installment in this series. I'll start posting it a few weeks after I post the last chapter of this one, probably around mid-August. So keep an eye out for it, and please leave feedback (ratings, review, discussion-thread-posting) on this or my other published stories in this subdomain. I'd even encourage you, if you're interested, to check out my Marvel stories as well.
