~~**Forever Caged**~~
Standing at the foot of Riki’s hospital bed, Iason gazed down at his bandaged mongrel, unable to touch him due to the glass oxygen casing around him. Three days had passed since the incident at the airstrip. The memory of how helpless he felt when Riki began to scream still haunted him.The strange phenomenon that chained the mongrels together so they all experienced Riki’s pain, was followed by the complete shut down of the entire city, a blackout that suspiciously had ended Riki’s agony, as well as, Orphe and Mikhale’s pets’ pain. After Iason and the others had rushed their loved ones though the darkened city, and to the hospital, he and the Blondies had worked tirelessly to get the city up and running again. Iason had hated leaving Riki, but like the other Elites, he had to get the city back in top form before other worlds discovered Amoi was defenseless.Later Iason had discovered it wasn’t just Riki and the other two, but everyone in Riki’s gang that had felt his suffering. But unlike Riki, the pet and mongrels had awoken while Riki’s injuries were too severe. And the miracle that had took Riki from his pain also was a curse, because when the doctors tried to put him a healing pod, it caused him more angony than his mongrel’s heart could take.A mystery that still could not be explained. They had been able to heal the worst of Riki's wounds, stealing him away from death's door, but they were forced to let nature heal the rest. To have so much technology and it all be useless, when his love was not back in his arms now, perfect and mouthy, enraged him.“Iason…”Iason kept his eyes on Riki. “Raoul,” he greeted softly.Raoul stepped forward and picked up Riki’s chart, and looked through it. “He’s doing fine. Maybe in a day or so we can attempt another healing session.”Iason ignored Raoul’s sympathetic glance.“He’s getting stronger every minute,” Raoul continued, “so even if he rejects the procedure again, if he can last for only a minute or two, we can get him sitting up and moving around.”“He’s endured enough pain,” Iason said. “I will not forbid you to try again, but the second I see he is in anyway uncomfortable the session will end.”Raoul bowed his head in understanding. “There is also a matter of our prisoners. Jared has become most insistent in seeing you, and he’s not the only one.”Iason stepped around Raoul to the side of Riki’s bed. Removing one his gloves, he pressed his naked palm against the glass. “How much longer will he sleep?”“If left on his own, even though his wounds are healing at an unnatural rate, I would say a week, maybe less.” Raoul sighed. “It’s not just his body that needs to heal, but also his mind. No human can withstand that much without shutting down.”“Shutting down,” Iason said, “interesting choice of words considering Jupiter has disappeared, and at the same time as the mongrels and the city ‘fell asleep’, wouldn’t you say?”Unlike before, Jupiter had never left completely. Her presences had always been there, in the buildings, streets, and every network throughout the city. And with everything that’s happened between Jupiter and Riki, Iason couldn’t ignore the obvious link.Jupiter had somehow bonded with the mongrels, Lilly, and the assassin the Blondie, Jared, was determined to keep alive. When Riki was shot with that dreadful poison, his anguish had affected them all.“I am working on that,” Raoul replied. “I have a theory, but until I have solid evidence I will keep it to myself.”“One hour,” Iason said. “Regardless of what you may or may not find, I expect a report in an hour, Raoul.” His thumb caressed the cold glass above Riki’s head. “I want to know how she did it without us knowing.”“You and I are not the only ones that want answers, my friend.” Raoul replaced Riki’s chart. “I will gather as much information, and meet you in your office in an hour.”With one last lingering glance as Riki’s sleeping face, Iason slipped his glove back on then turned and walked away.Down the hall, Iason passed the rooms that housed the wounded mongrels, a small smile touching his lips when the bellows of their anger echoed throughout the hallway. It gave him a strange sort of comfort to hear them, making him think of Riki, and all the trouble he would have caused, like them, if he’d been awake.Further down, guards spotted him and quickly scanned their keycards, opening the doors that lead to the room where the assassin rested. In front of the man’s room, Jared paced. An unseemly act of restlessness unbecoming of an Elite.“Is there a reason why you’ve insisted in joining me while I interrogate the prisoner?” Iason asked, motioning the security guarding the door to move. “I have read your report, so your presence is not necessary. You may leave.”“And with all due respect, Sir Iason, I wish to be in the room while you question him,” Jared replied.“Is that so…” Iason stared at the Elite. “And why, pray tell, would your attendance matter to me? You have done your duty. From here on out, I have no use for you.”“Be that as it may, I still wish to accompany you,” insisted Jared.“Dare I presume that if my judgment is not to your liking, you will challenge me?” Iason softly inquired.“Challenge you?” Jared asked. “No. However, I would like to request that you consider turning him over, and putting him into my custody.”Iason studied the Blondie. “You want me to hand over the man that has confessed in trying to kill one of our own, and who is also responsible for Riki’s condition?”“What happened to your mongrel is unfortunate,” Jared said carefully. “Rio needs to be punished for his crimes, yes. However, I ask that his sentence not be paid with his life, and in consideration to the great service he’s done by ferreting out your betrayer—”“A ‘service’ he was amply paid for, from what I read in your report,” Iason said. “My judgment will all depend on his interview.” Opening the prisoner’s door, Iason walked in but left it open for Jared to join him.Sitting handcuffed to his bed, the assassin Iason had made his second priority of the day, sat watching them. The surprisingly blue-haired young assassin had a somber expression on his face, but otherwise said nothing. What Iason found interesting was in the barest of seconds, the man’s eyes changed from a dark green to sky blue, before changing back to its original color.“Curious talent you have there,” Iason said, “and a useful tool to have in your profession.”The young man said nothing.“Rio—“Iason held his hand up, silencing Jared. From within his coat, Iason pulled out a few folded pieces of paper. “In my hand I have the transaction you made with Sir Jared. Everything has been processed, the money transferred.”Finally, Iason got a response; a smile from the man. “However,” Iason said, throwing the forms onto the man’s lap, “because the account was registered under an assumed name, and the company is nonexistent, the money was returned to us. The owners of your stocks will have twenty-four hours to claim them, or they will become ours.”“You’re looking at the owner,” Rio said.Iason smiled. “I’m sure you have all the appropriate paperwork to confirm they belong to you?”The young assassin picked up the papers Iason tossed in his lap, and began folding them lengthwise. “I do, but I’m guessin’ it wouldn’t matter, would it? You folks would just purposely make a tangle of things, and create so many problems that I’d beg you to keep them, am I right?”“Yes,” Iason agreed, “we would.”“I don’t mean to be rude,” Rio said, “but can we move past this part? Normally, I’d be lovin’ the play with words—especially, from what I hear, the master of verbal manipulation. But, I feel like shit and all I wanna do is pop some meds and crash, so…”“Forgive him, Sir Iason,” Jared said, glaring at Rio. “Do not let his disrespectful mouth keep you from justly judging him.”Iason watched as the assassin joined the ends of his folded paper together, making it longer. “Sedinans are well known for their ‘charm’.” Iason smiled. “When captured, they study their jailers by seeing how quickly they are to anger.“They aggravate their holders until they find the weakest link amongst them, and then use it to get themselves free,” Iason informed Jared. “This is the first lesson they teach young Sedinans training to be killers.”Rio shook his finger at him. “I heard you were smart. Riki didn’t know what I was, so how is it that you do?”Iason leaned just a little forward. “I know everything. Riki is still young, but when it is time, he will know just as much as I do.”The young assassin whistled. “If Riki wasn’t scary enough… So I’m guessing you know about me?”“Indeed I do,” Iason replied.“Iason?” Jared said.Iason knew what the Blondie was silently asking. The interrogation Jared was expecting was anything but one. “Yesterday, I was contacted by this individual’s home planets demanding his release.”Rio grinned, and connected the pieces of his folded paper together. “I’m well loved.”Iason smiled, and turned to Jared. “Despite the crime of attempting to assassinate an Elite, under the new treaty I signed two hours ago, he has diplomatic immunity and not answerable to any illegal actions on our world.”“His home planets?” Jared asked.“As in, more than one,” Rio said, winking at Jared.“Who is he?” Jared asked, and Iason could see the news calmed the Blondie.“A young man with very concerned and influential families,” Iason said. “I've heard stories of his kind before. A rare breed with the ability to change their eye color, the way he can. Born every third generation, they are said to be the one true king that will bring prosperity and peace. His people will do anything they can to keep him alive.”Jared frowned. “And who might they be?”Rio crowned himself with the paper circlet he made. “The royal kind, baby. I’m the crowned prince of two prosperous worlds, with very large military forces.”“Whose queen mother is very unhappy when she heard the news, that her only son decided to take a job out of protected space,” Iason said, enjoying himself for the first time since he rushed Riki to the hospital.“Seems there is a bit of a power struggle between this young man’s father’s young wife, and the male infant they had spawned together,” Iason informed Jared. “Numerous attempts on Rio's life have been made, so he has been in hiding for over ten years."Iason watched with great interest, as the Blondie's expression darkened. "The queen sent her only son to Gilesse, or Hell—as it is affectionately named by the students learning the art of assassination—to better learn to defend himself." "I guess you could call Hell another world I’ll inherit, since it's a planet ruled by my mum." Rio grinned. "Told ya I was well connected.""Ruled," Iason corrected, smiling with satisfaction. "In light to the power of our own military force, your mother and I agreed, for your own safety, that you will remain in our protective custody indefinitely.""What?!" Rio shouted."Really?" Jared smiled."Strife between Queen Mayrala of Sedin and prince Zerickils of Cleestran is unlikely to end, not unless the prince bows to the queen's demands of surrounding his head to her," Iason said, "and because young prince Rio is well loved by both worlds, the only way anyone can take his crown is if his body is returned, and genetic testing confirms he is dead.""So I'm fucking stuck on this world?" Rio asked, slumping back against his pillows. "I should have never taken this job..."Iason was not finished. "Due to the trouble you have caused me, and for disobeying a direct order from your queen, she has found a suitable punishment for you. When she learned of the lengths in which we protect our pets, and the life of luxury they live in, she has decreed that you will be placed in Eos under our protection as one.""You're not saying what I think you're saying, are you?" Rio numbly muttered. "This joke isn't funny anymore. This is going above and beyond grounding my ass! She can't do this to me! I have fucking rights!"Iason ignored Rio's rant. "I am now your official guardian until you reach the age of thirty, or, under your worlds laws, you find a suitable partner who exceeds or matches your rank. Due to the dangers and risks you've carelessly placed your life under, your rights have been forfeited and are now mine to do as I will." "I'm a fucking assassin!" Rio shouted. "Of course my life will be in danger, as she well knows since she fucking picked out my teachers to make me one!""The money you were paid from Jerico, George's family, and Kirin has been confiscated," Iason continued with an almost bored tone. "You will be placed in the home of an Elite of high rank, and registered as a permanent occupant of Eos.""Wait...what? I thought my prison sentence ended when I turned thirty, or if I find some rich snob? What the fuck is up with this 'permanent’ shit?" Rio demanded.Iason's smile was almost evil as his lips slowly curved upward. "In exchange for the Syndicates protection, the queen and your Cleestran queen grandmother have opened their boarders to us. We now have access to the worlds under their protection—worlds we could have never journeyed to unless declaring war first."With you under my roof, and as your guardian speaking on your behalf, both your mother's kingdom and your father's will have to come to me if any significant decisions want to be made on their world," Iason said. "In other words, the power you had now belongs to me.""Fuck me..." Rio breathed."That will be Sir Jared's job," Iason commented. "You will be placed as his royal guest, if my decision meets to your approval, Jared."The Blondie grinned. "It will be my pleasure to welcome the prince into my home."Iason nodded. "While it would give me nothing but pleasure, to tear you limb from limb for the harm you have caused Riki, I will leave it up to him to deal with you. However—" Iason smiled—"I will make sure he does nothing to keep you from living a long and healthy life"."You can't give me to him!" Rio yelled, throwing his pillow at a grinning Jared. "I tried— and will continue to try— to kill him!"Iason's brow arched. "Be my guess. Just remember you will be punished by Jared's discretion with every failed attempt." As the explosive obscenities that began to shoot out of the young prince's mouth. Iason exited the room and made his way out of the hospital. He had two other prisoners to visit before he could return to Riki's side. And unlike the assassin prince, there was no one that could sway Iason from saving them from his wrath. No one.oOoOoOo
truggling to open his eyes, Ghost's head rolled on the hard surface on which he laid on. Light blinded him, beaming directly on his face when he won the battle and his eyelids lifted.
Controlling his breathing, Ghost ignored the dryness of his mouth and pain radiating throughout his body. The room was in was cold, damp, and smelled of mold. Looking down his white gowned body, Ghost stared at his bare feet, then around the room before closing his eyes.He was restrained. Strapped down on a surgeon's steel table, with nothing within reach to try and free himself. What happen...?He remembered that he had reached the far end of the road when he had stopped. Stupidly concerned for the mongrel, he had retuned to where he hid the dangerously playful terror twin, and witnessed Riki's friend screaming in the arms of a Blondie Elite. The mongrel's wound had reopened, and Ghost had unsheathed his blades to help the twin, when someone had jumped him from behind. His memory became spotty after that. Pale faces, and long dark hallways flashed in his mind, but nothing else.At the sound of a door opening, his eyelids snapped up."Ah, you're awake. Good. I will have a few questions I need you to answer, and I prefer to ask them while I have you on my table," a smooth voice said.Ghost glared at the tall white-haired man that entered, coming to stand above him. Grabbed by the chin, he reminded silent as the man turned his head from side to side, studying him."Doctor Landon?" another voice softly called out.Ghost's eyes watered as the 'doctor' held one of his eyelids open, flashing a small light in them before releasing him."Interesting," the doctor muttered. "I have never seen eyes like yours before. You've gotten me something good, servant. You may of some use to me after all. Now lets see if he can survive the procedure."Ghost's breathing escalated as the long platinum haired Elite, and his short, plain faced, assistant strapped his head down. The Elite leaned over him. "Normally, right about now, I would have been spat upon and cursed everlasting pain and suffering. Yet you remain silent, the only indication I have that your hearing is not impaired, is by your increased heartbeat when I said the word ‘procedure’”.Oh, the good doctor would suffer greatly in his hands, but first Ghost had to escape and the only way he would succeed is if he played the good patient. He had learned the hard way of keeping his rage to himself, against opponents with more power than him.Painfully bloody lessons he'd learned under his father's fists. And like what he did as a child, he would take every horror and beating the Elite did to him, and when the time was right, he would slit the Platinum's throat as he had with his sire.TBC..While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
