An Angel’s Pain

“Yuuuki! Yuki!” Whined a very cheery Shuichi in his doggie outfit as he leapt on the air and landed accurately on his lover’s slender hips. “Please… Please, please!”
Yuki let out an exasperated sigh as he simultaneously moved his office chair away from the table where his only production tool rested. The brat’s wagging tail might accidentally destroy it. “No, Shuichi. For God’s sake, how many times do I have to tell you? I’ve got a deadline this week and I’m not even half through the story yet!”
“But can’t you do this for me? Please, please, please! Just once!”
“I don’t have time for a blasted concert.”
“Don’t you even care for me?”
“You’re annoying.” Yuki stated as he gently removed his reading glasses off his pale milky face. “It isn’t everyday that I’m available to endure watching Bad Luck’s not-so-good performance.”
Shuichi let go of all his lover’s harsh words. He hadn’t stayed with him for more than a year not to get used to the blonde’s severe attitude. Yuki’s a Grade A bastard and it would be dumb not to comprehend this fact. But, no matter what, this side of Yuki was the very reason that both of them met each other. Yuki just doesn’t understand yet. Shuichi must make him realize how serious he is about needing Yuki’esenesence this time. “Come on Yuki, it’s a whole week concert and I’m gonna miss you so much.”
“Good. I sure needed that week without an annoying brat like you.”
“It… it would mean…” Shuichi said, his eyes suddenly dropping the puppy eyes and adopting the serious stare his violet eyes rarely make. “It would mean damn so much so please come.”
Yuki didn’t miss the doubt and plead in Shuichi’s voice. The sudden change in the younger boy’s eyes even made the novelist uneasy… But his head is throbbing. Damn it! There isn’t time to think. Not that he wouldn’t enjoy being with the pink haired kid… But he had a deadline! A deadline within this very week and Shuichi’s schedule starts tomorrow! Drat! All this pressure is just too much. Why does Shuichi make it so complicated?
“I can’t come.” Yuki stated dismissively as he got on his feet almost causing his lover who was resting on the novelist’s hips to stumble down on the floor. “Go bother someone else.”

Yuki left Shuichi in the work room alone with these words, not even glancing back. If only… If only he had the instinct to look back at the pink haired singer then he would have seen… he would have known…but he didn’t.
He didn’t see the pain blatantly sketched on Shuichi’s fair face.
He didn’t…

If only he looked back.

“Yuki…”

CHAPTER 1: UNEXPECTED TWIST

Yuki woke up a couple of hours than he normally did. NO. Truth be told, he hadn’t slep all all. He couldn’t forget Shuichi’s face. The intent pleading eyes he shot at Yuki and the desperate voice… No. Was Shuichi terribly upset? But the brat had to understand! Yuki had a novel to finish. A work he just can’t let go. He couldn’t break the statement he gave to all his fans in the television. He will finish the novel on time. Besides, Shuichi’s used on getting hurt and snapped at by the writer so what else could this new argument do to him?
But really, what bothered Yuki was the absence of Shuichi’s presence before he went to bed. Usually, the pink haired kid knocked on the writer’s door just to bid good night. But the brat didn’t. Shuichi didn’t see me last night. Today though… Shuichi’s leave was scheduled today. He will be leaving to have his preparations for the beach concert in Okinawa and he would be away for one whole week. Shuichi would of course drop by Yuki’s room to bid ‘farewell, see you Yuki. I’m gonna miss you.’ Yuki couldn’t deny it. He was craving for that very moment. He was beginning to feel ous ous anticipating his lover’s morning greeting. C’mon, brat. Greet me already so I could get up. For some unknown reason, the blonde had secretly taken it a habit to leave his room early in the morning every time Shuichi knocked on his door for a grng. ng. The writer easily hid the motive by using the opportunity to snap at his lover for disturbing his sleep.
Minutes passed by until it became almost an hour then the older boy heard something falling with a thud on the ground that announced Shuichi’s presence. The brat was just too clumsy. What did he break this time?
Yuki waited patiently until he stopped hearing the echoing shower from the bathroom. He gave it another five minutes for the younger boy to finish dressing… For some unknown reason that the novelist couldn’t apprehend, his stomach was starting to turn to a knot… and he hated the feeling. He tried to dismiss the unwanted sensation by groaning but had then suddenly heard his living room door opening then closing with a soft thud.
Shuichi has left.
Shuichi has left without even a single word to him.
Frowning and biting his lower lip, Yuki swiftly stood from his bed and found himself racing out of the bedroom. It’s just impossible. Shuichi couldn’t have just left. Simultaneously doing the thinking and running, the writer had grabbed the pack of his cigarette on his bedside table and so he was smoking by the time he reached the kitchen. He needed the fucking cigarette to think! Damn it! The silence of the house announced the brat’s absence and Yuki was indeed surprised to find a note on the kitchen table.

Yuki,
Didn’t want to wake you up. Gotta go, I guess.
Gomen for my disturbance.
Shuichi
Shuichi never relied on fucking notes to announce something so small—to announce something to Yuki. Mostly the younger boy only used notes on reminding himself about telephone numbers he was bound to forget and aboad Lad Luck’s schedule. The brat had the crack of covering the fridge with damn notes. But that’s it. Always on the fridge. What’s wrong with you, Shuichi? With butterflies swirling inside his stomach, Yuki decided to take a shower to temporarily eradicate his queasiness.

‘Go bother someone else.’
‘Go bother someone else.’
Yuki’s statement echoed continuously inside the singer’s head.
That night when Yuki literally refused Shuichi’s plead, the singer felt absolutely torn, hurt with immeasurable depth. Why can’t Yuki care for him? Why can’t Yuki try to be nice? For God’s sake, Shuichi literally begged the writer to come with him in Okinawa one month before the flight schedule. Did Yuki have to be so mean?
No. Yuki isn’t mean, he was just exhausted… LIAR! Yuki wasn’t just exhausted. That wasn’t a very good excuse. The blonde was always mean to him. Goodness, Shuichi! Can’t you open your fucking eyes? Try to snap back to reality! Yuki never told you he loved you! Yuki doesn’t love you. That’s the reason he’s annoyed of you. Can’t you see he doesn’t care for you? Not then, not now! Yes, he liked you maybe. He must’ve also been attracted to you. Maybe he’s just keeping you because of lust, of physical need. You’re just hurting yourself anticipating he’ll return your love for him. He’s selfish. Can’t you fucking see that? What else? Well, doesn’t Yuki’s reaction toward your plead last night make him dumpable if there is a word like that? He turned you down Shuichi. He didn’t want to be with you on the day you needed him most. It’s just too late. He didn’t even ask you the reason of the occasion’s importance. He doesn’t care. The bastard doesn’t care!
“NO!” Shuichi had suddenly roared. He was heaving the moment he opened his eyes. His arms were shaking and sweat dripped down the side of his face. Damn it! He was hearing voices inside his mind again. Damn! Those shit were the very reason he woke up depressed and gloomily, the same reason why he didn’t have the nerve to see Yuki last night and this morning. “Damn it…”
“S-Shuichi,” A voice spoke hesitantly beside him.
The singer turned his head to find Hiro’s face worriedly looking at him. “Are you alright?” He asked.
It was then that Shuichi noticed all of the Bad Luck’s staff gazing at him including Fujisaki, Sakano and K. Shit, he forgot he was already boarding the plane. He must’ve burst out and made a complete scene for everyone.
“You alright?” Sakano echoed Hiro’s question.
“I…” Shuichi uttered, his face turning pink. “I’m okay.”
“Are you sure?” Hiro asked, already knowing the reason and the lie his friend would make.
“Y-yes.”
“Maybe you’re just tired.” Sakano offered with a gentle smile.
Shuichi gave him a nod. Yes, Maybe I’m just tired… Too tired of him.

‘Go bother someone else.’ Yuki’s words echoed.

‘Go bother someone else.’

Shuichi fumbled for the mobile phone in his pocket, anticipating for one important call.

None

Yuki didn’t bother for a call.

Again.

‘Go bother someone else.’ Yuki’s words echoed.

‘Go bother someone else.’

Shuichi desperately shunned the voices inside his mind.

“I’m tired.”
