Chapter 1 – Unsolved Mysteries

Shrouded in fog, the park had an eerie quality to it. The misting rain did not help matters any as Usagi strolled along the bank of the lake. Twilight was quickly approaching and in the dim evening light she felt as though she had stepped into another time and place.

Twirling the umbrella handle she wandered a few steps forward. ‘Why Mamoru, why did you leave me?’ The thought kept repeating itself as she pondered what had happened. Exactly one week before, her troubles had begun.

She had been standing in the hallway knocking on Mamoru’s door when the security cum door person walked up.

“May I help you?” He glanced curiously at Usagi waiting for her reply.

“Oh I am just here to see Mamo-chan, have you seen him today?” She looked up startled to see the man’s face etched with surprise and something she couldn’t discern.

“I am sorry Miss to be the one to tell you but Chiba-san no longer lives there.”

Usagi chuckled nervously. “That is not really funny you know.” She waited for the man to tell her he was just joking but his next words dropped the world out from under her.

“I am afraid I am not joking. Chiba-san turned his keys in early this morning and left with two suitcases, I called a taxi for him.”

Usagi stood staring in shock. “What do you mean turned in his keys?” She could not understand what was going on.

“I mean he gave us no notice and turned in his keys this morning. He no longer lives here Miss and I am going to have to ask you to leave now.” She nodded mutely before walking towards the elevator. It wasn’t until she reached the elevator that the shock wore off.

‘He’s gone…but why…where…what is going on?’ That had been the start of everything. He left her no note no explanation, nothing just disappearing basically into thin air.

Lost in thoughts and memories, she was not aware of the figure standing in the trees watching her progress.

She was turning to head home when a frisson of awareness skittered up her spine. Glancing around, she spotted what appeared to be a person staring in her direction. Blending in with the fog and shadows and the landscape she was not even sure it was real. At that moment the fog chose to thicken and she could no longer see the area.

Quickening her steps she hurried in the direction of her home. When she had left the emptiness of the park behind her and entered the busy crowds of Tokyo once more a derisive chuckle escaped. ‘How silly, I had no reason to be frightened.’ She let the feeling go and shrugged it off, smiling and pondering what tasty food her mother would have made for dinner.

-----

Later as she stripped off her clothes and stepped in the warm bath, her mind distracted by Mamoru’s desertion, she lay back letting the stress of the day wear off. The damp foggy weather had seemed to seep into her very bones and finding warmth was near impossible for most of the day. Now here in the warm steam the chill slowly receded leaving her warm and sleepy. Usagi climbed out of the bathtub and slipped into warm pajamas before climbing into bed.

The dream began the same as it had for the last week…

She was standing in the hallway knocking on Mamoru’s door when the security cum door person walked up.

“May I help you?” He glanced curiously at Usagi waiting for her reply.

“Oh I am just here to see Mamo-chan, have you seen him today?” She looked up startled to see the man’s face etched with surprise and something she couldn’t discern.

‘He’s gone…but why…where…what is going on?’ The doors slid open and she blindly pushed the button for the lobby. Tears coursed down her cheeks unchecked as she waited as the elevator to drop down the eight floors.

When the lights went out she sucked in her breath in fear. ‘What is going on? This has never happened before. The darkness was thick and silent she could not even sense the elevator moving.

When strong arms gathered her close and settled her against the wall she freaked out. ‘How can someone be here with me, when I was alone?’ Her senses screamed with confusion. The strength that surrounded her was frightening but the warmth permeating her chilled body weakened her knees. She reached out grasping blindly for support and her hands landed in damp wool.

When warm breath washed over her neck she shivered involuntarily. A firm hand landed gently upon her shoulder pinning her in place as a thumb feathered over her collarbone. Out of nowhere, butterfly kisses peppered her face until the unseen mouth moved down to the edge of her jaw trailing hot fiery kisses over her neck as his other hand wandered up from where it pinned her waist. Frozen in shock, it took a moment for Usagi to realize his hand was gliding over bare skin underneath her school uniform. When his fingers slid over her bra clad breast her breathing hitched coming to a dead halt.

New feelings awakened in her innocent inexperience and a small frustrated whimper slipped past her shocked lips. His mouth had wandered over behind her ear and when he hit a certain spot she nearly collapsed. Her heart rate increased as she felt her body respond to his touch. As he expertly slid her bra clear she moaned when he first traced her exposed nipple.

Awash in feelings she did not understand she innocently tried to move closer, her hands still clasped into the wool slowly climbed higher finding a pair of broad shoulders. Using them for support she let herself drift in the sea of sensation. When cool air washed over her heated flesh she realized he was slowly drawing her shirt upwards and out of his way.

When a warm moist heat enveloped her nipple a soft moan escaped her throat. Breathing heavily she felt her blood turning to fire and it thrummed in her veins. When he showed the other breast equal attention she was panting with a need she did not understand.

When one of his hands landed softly on her bare thigh, just below her skirt, her breathing hitched. She was near to sobbing in frustration and need. He slowly traced circles on her thigh ever moving closer to her center. When he reached the juncture of her thighs his fingers became gentle and still.

Suddenly a mad beeping broke into her awareness; the elevator had reached the lobby. As she waited for his reaction she realized that everything around her was slowly fading into nothing…

------

Sitting straight up out of bed, she opened bleary eyes to spot her alarm going crazy. Twisted in the sheets, her body still thrummed with need from the strange dream. Blushing softly she was astonished at her own behavior. ‘At least it was only a dream…’ She let the thought trail off as she pondered the day ahead.

-----

Walking towards her school she glanced eagerly around for any sight of her friends. She wanted to fill them in on her dream. Blushing once more she ducked her head to hide her heated flesh. ‘Well only part of the dream, I cannot tell my friends the whole thing.’ Trying to pull herself back under control she lifted her head eyes scanning the crowd for familiar faces.

When she finally spotted her blue haired friend she ran quickly forward. As usual not paying attention she was shocked to run into a firm muscled chest. Falling backwards onto her behind, she immediately began apologizing. “Gomen, gomen…itai, itai, gomen,” she glanced upwards to see whom she had run into when her breath caught in her throat. Beautiful bright blue eyes stared right back at her. The eyes accentuated his pale face and she noticed raven hair fell in unruly waves on his forehead

“No…Odango, it is I that must apologize, gomen, I was not looking where I was going.” He held out his hand and waited expectantly.

She reached up and placed her hand in his hesitantly. He easily hauled her up from her embarrassing position. As she stood once more his words finally sank into her distracted brain. ‘He called me Odango, What do I say?’’ Glancing again at the stranger, she took a moment to study him as well as to gather her thoughts. ‘He did apologize though taking the fault, and he is very handsome.’

He exuded male confidence as he stood watching her. Wearing a Juuban school uniform he looked to be her age. Standing a whole head taller she had to glance up to see the arrogant smirk that settled on his mouth.

“Well okay I’ll accept your apology, you are forgiven.” With a small smile, she started to turn and head towards her friends who were watching amusedly. She felt her wrist grasped as a hand tugged her gently back towards the stranger.

“Matte…are you sure you are all right?” He glanced with concern at her. She could not find words and just nodded as a faint blush stained her cheeks. “What is your name, Odango?”

“Usagi…I have to go.” She pulled her hand and he tentatively let it go. “I am Kou Seiya and I am sure I will be seeing you again, Odango…Usagi.” He waved nonchalantly before sauntering off.

Usagi stood staring after him not sure what to think. Taking a deep breath she turned towards her friends and once more carefully walked to where they stood.

“What was all that about?” Minako asked excitedly as she gazed at Usagi, curiosity eating her alive.

“Uh…nothing…we ran into each other, I fell, and he helped me up. That was all simple really.”

“It looked like a whole lot more.” Rei threw her a teasing wink and smiled.

“Usagi-chan have you found anything about well you know?” Ami kept her voice low as she voiced what they all four were wondering. Usagi just shook her head and glanced away not really wanting to think about Mamo-chan’s disappearance.

“Well you know, it seems like you have a new love interest.” Makoto gave Usagi a playful shove before continuing. “Why do you have all the luck any way? You know your friend looks like this guy I knew…” She stopped indignantly as the other girls all broke out laughing.
