They
were near.That was
the thought that kept plaguing Sanzo's mind. He knew that this day would come
from the very beginning of this journey. But that knowledge did nothing to
assuage his turbulent thoughts.He looked
at the back to where Goku was slumbering. He was glad that the monkey was
asleep. They were at least given a reprieve, albeit temporary. He dreaded the
time when the monkey would wake up and realized their destination. But he kept a
bland face. Not showing any of the worry that he was feeling.“Sanzo.”
He looked
beside him to where Hakkai was alternately gazing at him and the road, an
apprehensive look on his face.“What are we going to do?”, the green-eyed beauty
continued. “Goku won’t be asleep for the rest of the journey.”The monk had no answer to this so he just kept his
mouth shut. He knew that everyone was anxious. The monkey is extremely
unpredictable whenever rattled and the fact that the boy was the strongest
among them, not that any of them will admit it, only added to this.He could already see the path leading to Mount Gogyo. Damn. It would be better for all of them if the boy slept through
their next destination. But that was impossible since it would take three days
to pass through the mountain path.“Isn't there any alternate route?”, this came from the
erogappa seated across the sleeping brunette.A muscle twitched in Sanzo’s forehead. “Do you think
that we would be here if there is an alternative?” he hissed, afraid to stir
the snoozing saru.“Che.”
The blonde ignored this. He couldn’t fight with the
redhead now anyway because the uproar would surely awaken the golden-eyed boy.They were already in the path. He was deep in his
thoughts, thinking of ways to calm the saru should he get flustered, when a
finger poked his shoulder. He shrugged it off, wanting to continue with his thinking
but the finger kept prodding him.He looked back to see an almost funny disconcerted
expression on Gojyo’s face. But he couldn’t laugh. Not in this kind of
situation.Gojyo caught Sanzo’s gaze and he whispered, “His nose
is twitching.”Damn.
The monk had forgotten about the monkey’s
exceptionally keen sense of smell. He looked at Goku, just in time to see his
eyes flutter open. Shit.Golden eyes gazed around sleepily. Sanzo watched as his
expression changed from puzzled, to comprehension, and finally, to fear. He
made a move to stand up but the blonde held onto his shoulder, refusing to let
the boy stand.Goku looked at his surroundings, trepidation etched in
his beautiful heretic eyes. He began to breathe harshly.“Gojyo, hold him in place.”, Sanzo ordered. The
redhead followed without complaint, gripping both of the saru’s arms.“Should I stop and pull over?”
Hakkai sounded concerned but stopping now would only
increase the boy’s agitation. “No Hakkai. Keep on driving.”“Hai, Sanzo.”
Sanzo was contemplating the situation. ‘This not good. If he panics too much he might overpower us.’
The monk looked at the monkey. He is the key factor in all of these. If he goes
berserk there’s nothing we would be able to do.The boy looked alternately between the monk and the
cockroach and the brunette driving, his panic evident. Sanzo could see it,
could hear it in his mind.‘Why are we here?
Are they tired of me? Did I do
anything wrong? Are they going to imprison me in that cave again? Sanzo…’TBC…

A/N: This is a bit of a stretch, I know since I don’t know the exact
location of this mountain. But I’ve always been curious as to what would occur
if they were to travel that path. The POVs would be
continuously changing depending on what I see fit. :D Anyway, this chapter is a
bit short but this is all I’m capable of writing at the moment. Hope you still
