A Mother's Choice

A/N: If you haven't read this story, I have some images that kind of go along with it. These are depictions of Jeovi and Nameless at various points. If you have read this story, Please, look at them anyway and enjoy that Jeovi still looks adorable even as a beaten up Ninetales. Credit for these characters goes to PhoenixHelix, with thanks for allowing me the ability to draw his demented creations.

A young Zoroark mother wakes from her slumber. Her kit is close by her side, nestled into her arms. The Zorua’s eyes are still blind and his ears cannot hear, but he knows he is safe so long as his mother is near. Being merely an infant, still deaf and blind to the world, the little kit is unaware of the scandal surrounding his existence. All he understands is the hunger for his mother’s milk, the feel of her warm fur, and the caress of her soft tongue as she cleans him. The mother Zoroark knows, however. Ever since the day she entered her fifth heat and failed to find a mate, she had known only the hunger for a male.

During a hunt she had stumbled across a campsite of a trainer and his Pokémon. The Gardevoir had been unsuccessful in defeating her, her type disadvantage allowing the dark female to almost kill her. The Zoroark had nearly been defeated by the Blaziken starter the trainer had used, but in the end, she was victorious. The trainer collapsed in a bleeding heap. She had felt sorry for him, only defeating him out of necessity once his Gardevoir had attacked her foolishly, but her heat reminded her of the importance of the defeat. He was unguarded, helpless, and very much male.

The Zoroark made quick work of his clothing, ripping it apart before deciding she’d prefer to have a willing mate. She disguised herself as a human female, with long black and red hair, long red nails, and blue eyes. When the trainer came to, she pretended to be concerned, pretended that she had found him unconscious and was worried about his safety. He was grateful to her, and she repaid his kindness by allowing him to be her mate. Few words were spoken as she fell to all fours, her bestial nature forcing her to submit to this man. At the sight of this beautiful female, the trainer’s cock stirred and readied for her, and with little more than a grunting passion, he hilted himself within her depths. She left him after, allowing him to wake in confusion, wondering if it had all been nothing more than a dream. Her heat had been answered, and several months later, she gave birth to her beloved kit.

Now as he wakes beside her, he whimpers, earning several soft licks and paw strokes over his tiny form. His mother takes care of him well, providing him with food, shelter, love, and shielding him from the cruelty of humans. In her heart, she knows this child of hers will someday face the cruelty of man, but until she no longer cares for her baby, no man will come near him.

The days pass on as her kit continues to grow. His eyes see for the first time, and he recognizes his mother by scent, and now by sight. He can see his home within a hollow tree, and the dawn’s light through the root nest he resides in. He can see his first solid food, meat freshly killed by his mother, and he knows she is caring for him as she should. As the kit continues developing, he begins to hear, the sounds of his forest home, his mother’s voice, her growls, and her soothing words. In his mind, all is well.

Soon, the Zorua kit begins joining his mother in her hunts, and it is then that she notices the oddities about her baby. He begins running on two legs, his limbs too oddly matched for him to run as a Zorua should. His arms are short, and his legs are long. His fur is shorter than normal, and his hair is not the proper length. He is a hybrid, and it is obvious. The Zoroark mother weeps for her son, knowing he will not be accepted and knowing her time with him grows short.

The seasons fly by, and as her kit reaches his second birthday, a familiar scent floats through the air, calling to the Zoroark female. Her time with her son has reached its end. Turning to the kit, her eyes take an icy glare. As her unnamed Zorua baby looks up at her, unsteady on his feet and sniffing the air, she bristles.

“Mother? What’s wrong, what’s that smell?” The kit asks, earning a soft growl from the Zoroark female. She smiles, her glistening fangs shining.

“It is spring, my child. It is time for me to venture out into the world and time for you to do the same.” She replies, vaguely aware of a calling in her body. The kit looks around, confused. As he reaches for his mother’s paw, she growls and bares her teeth at him, sending the kit crying into a corner of the den at her frightening reaction.

“No, child. You must remain here until after I am gone. You are old enough to go your own way.” She growls, earning a wide eyed whimper from her child. The tiny Zorua kit rises to his feet, his oddly shaped legs difficult to balance on.

“Mother, why are you leaving me?” He whimpers softly as the Zoroark female prepares to abandon her nest, and with it, her beloved son.

“Because, my child. All Zorua kits are left to fend for themselves after a time. You must be strong if you are to survive. You are part human, your father was a trainer wandering through the forest when I stumbled upon him, and it is his scent now that calls me to seek him out again. Your human blood will make you strong, farewell my child.” The Zoroark calls to her kit, giving him one last lick across his forehead before she exits the den and races off in the direction of her mate’s scent.

“She’ll be back, she has to be back. She wouldn’t just leave me like this.” The Zorua hybrid cries to himself. He decides to curl up in the hollow of the tree to await his mother’s return.
