Secret Loves and Confessions of the Heart
Secret loves and Confessions of the Heart
Misty sat by the waters edge and looked at her reflectio the the glassy surface. She barley recognized the young woman staring back at her. Her soft features reflected a great depression that was hidden inside. One would never be able to understand the pain she felt, the wound that had been inflicted on her ran deep beneath her skin. A wound that no weapon could cause and no doctor could see. The only way one could see this wound was to look into her bright blue eyes and see the sadness that lay hidden within her very soul.
A cool breeze swept over the lake and distorted her image with the ripples it made the water produce. In a way Misty was glad that the image was gone and she was brought out of her trance. She blinked her eyes and looked around her. The sun was about to set, which meant she had been sitting there for well over an hour. The cool night air danced along her skin as the suns last beams of light warmed her face.
She sighed to herself as she lifted her red bag onto her shoulder and stood.
She yawned and stretched a minute before glancing back at the waters once again calm surface. She knew it was not safe for her to be out after night fall on her own, wit with her pokemon to protect her, there was no telling what you could run into during the night in the wilds of Japan.
She took her time walking back to the pokemon center, she was in no hurry to return to the noisy indoors. As she walked through the dark forest that smelled of sakura and sunshine, she couldn\'t help but let her thoughts drift away, back to the one that caused her so much pain. How she longed for him to hold her in his arms and kiss her with his soft lips. She wanted to be near him, to see him smile, to hear him laugh, and to feel his touch. She knew he would never feel the same way about her, but she also knew she could never stop. He was so intoxicating. She loved everything about him, everything, right down to his silly habit of making a victory sign when he won his battles. She truly loved him, and what hurt her was the fact that he did not. Or at least she thought he didn\'t. He had never made any moves on her or shared his feelings of her, then again neither had she. She was far to afraid to tell him how she felt, if it hurt this bad thinking about rejection, then she knew if it happened her heart would break into thousands of pieces. The risk was to great so for now she would keep her secret, and live with the sadness and pain that inevitably came with a secret love. The moon light was the only thing that illuminated the dark forest. The stars twinkled at her as she walked on through the darkness with her head bowed. Unfortunately with her head bowed she could not see where she was going and walked right into a painfully solid object. With a thump and ash, sh, Misty was on the ground. what ever she had walked into had come into contact with her head, which was now throbbing in pain as she held it in her hands. She moaned as the throbbing intensified.
\"Hello? Who\'s there? Are you a demon who has come for me? Show yourself!\" a trembling female voice came from in front of Misty, though she could not see her, she could tell by her voice she was about her age and terribly frightened
\"Hello, my name is Misty, sorry for bumping into you like that, I guess I wasn\'t watching where I was going.\" Misty replied. She could her the young woman sigh with relief, obviously she had truly thought her to be an evil demon.
\" Thank God, these woods are so creepy at night, I really hate coming out here after sunset but this was an emergency. I guess I was in such a hurry I didn\'t watch where I was going either, are you all right?\" the girl said.
\" I\'m fine just a little bump on the head is all are you OK?\" Misty lied. Truth be told she could already feel the trickling of blood down the side of her face.
\'This girl must have one hard head\' She thought to herself as she wiped the blood away with the back of her hand.
\" I\'m fine\" The girl said as she got to her feat and offered Misty her hand. Misty almost gasped in surprise when she felt how cold and clammy the girls hand was. It was chilly outside, but her hand felt like she had just come out of a deep freezer. It was kind of eerie. Misty shrugged it off as she got to her feet and dusted her self off. As her eyes adjusted to the dim light created by the full moon, she could better see the girl in front of her. She had pale sea green eyes and long blues hair kept in a tidy braid that flowed to her mid waist. She was very pale and her lips had a pale blue tint to them, it was then that misty noticed she was dripping wet. Her long white frilly night gown was sticking to her skin.
\" My name is Harumi, and again I\'m so sorry Misty, but I\'m in a terrible hurry.\" Harumi said as white snow flakes began to fall around them. Misty was completely shocked, in a matter of seconds the temperature had dropped below freezing. The snow floated lightly on the air as it descended and began to cover the ground in a soft white blanket.
\" Uhh, Harumi why are you in such a hurry? Its getting cold out you should really consider coming back to the pokemon center with me.\" Misty said trying to convince her that it was best. Harumi just shook her head.
\" No I cant go inside, I have to get to the cabin across the lake, I have to get to Sei, I think something awful has happened\" She said franticly.
\" Sei?\" Misty said confused. She had been told that the old cabin across the lake had been deserted for years.
\" Yes he\'s my best friend, and I have this awful feeling something horrible has happened\" she replied.
\" Well then I\'ll help you, its the least I can do after bumping into you like that\" Misty said as a grateful smile came across Harumi\'s face.
\'That face its so familiar\' Misty thought, but forgot completely as Harumi\'s cold arms embraced her in a hug.
\" Oh thank you Misty thank you! He lives just across the lake, do you know the way?\" Harumi asked as she looked at Misty with her sea green eyes.
\" Oh yeah I just came from there.\" Misty responded.
\" Great lets go!\" Harumi said excitedly as she grabbed Misty\'s and and practically dragged her toward the lake. The snow had began to fall heavily and they were now up to there knees in the fresh white powder. Harumi refused to slow down and kept throwing reassuring words at Misty. Things like \'just a little farther\' and \'almost there\'. Mist regretted not wearing pants or a jacket. She could barley feel her legs and the snow and wind inedined was enough to sting her eyes so badly she had to relay on Harumi to lead them. The surrounding woods looked familiar and yet so foreign. The trees looked dead and were covered in a thick sheet of ice, and the night air no longer smelled of sakura.
When they arrived at the lake it was frozen over. Misty didn\'t think it was natural for a lake to freeze over like that, that fast.
\" Darn, the lakes frozen, that means the boat is useless\" Harumi said as she pointed to a little row boat that was on the shore of the lake. Misty didn\'t remember that being there before, then again she wasn\'t really paying attention.
\" Well have to walk across it\" Harumi said as she began to walk out on the lake.
\" Wait! Don\'t Harumi! I was here earlier and this lake wasn\'t even slushy, I don\'t think walking across is very safe maybe we should walk around. Harumi just walked out farther.
\" Don\'t worry Misty I walk across this lake all the time, its perfectly safe, see.\" Harumi demonstrated the sturdiness of the lake by jumping up and down. Misty was convinced that this was not the best course of action, but she also knew she wouldn\'t be able to convince Harumi of that, she seemed too concerned about Sei to listen to anything Misty had to that would keep her away from him longer than needed.
So she hesitantly stepped out onto the lakes frozen surface and slipped for a second before regaining her footing and walking over to Harumi. Harumi smiled and continued to walk across the lake. Misty stepped carefully, but Harumi kept the same pace she had during there walk through the forest.
\" Harumi maybe you should slow down, there could be thin ice\" Misty called out to Harumi who was now a good 50 feet away from her, and her voice was carried away by the wind which was blowing strongly. The snow blurred Misty\'s vision as she continued to walk cautiously. She could barley see Harumi\'s blurred figure. Misty quickened her pace a little until she was only about 10 feet away from Harumi.
\" Harumi I think we should go back, the wind is getting worse it looks like a blizzard is coming\" Misty pleaded.
Harumi just looked at Misty.
\" But were halfway there already it would be a shame and a waist of time if we turned around now\" Harumi said as she continued. Misty looked back, though she couldn\'t see the shore through the blinding snow she could tell they had been walking for quiet some time.
\" Harumi we need to be careful, there could be thin ice\" Misty said desperately. Misty had been raised around water, she knew better than to tempt fate, but Harumi just wouldn\'t listen. She just kept walking.
\" Its, OK Misty, there\'s nothing to be scared o......AHHHHHHHH!!!\" Harumi screamed as the ice below her feet began to crack.
\" Harumi don\'t move hang on!\" Misty yelled as she began to inch toward Harumi.
\" Misty help, please, I cant swim!\" Harumi yelled franticly as her eyes filled with tears. Misty extended her arm toward Harumi.
\" Harumi take my hand!\" Misty yelled as the icy wind stung her face. Harumi shook her head as tears flowed from her eyes.
\" I cant I\'m to scared! Please don\'t let me die Misty, I\'m scared\" She cried as the cracks began to grow. As the cracks began to move toward Misty she had to back up, but for Harumi there was no way out, there where cracks all around her, trapping her.
Harumi cried out in fear when the ice below her left foot gave out and her bare foot was soaked in the freezing water.
She looked to Misty giving a silent plea for help as the rest of the ice gave out and her whole body disappeared beneath the surface
\" HARUMI!!\" Misty called. She had no time to think she had to act quickly, she grabbed her pokeball and shoved it in her pocked before throwing her red bag aside and diving into the dark icy water.
The water was to dark to see anything, Misty looked all around her. She didn\'t know how long her body could take this extreme cold. Then out of the corner of her eye she saw a flash of white. She immediately turned around and saw Harumi\'s motionless form sinking to the bottom. Misty with drew her poke ball and released Starmie. Without having to be told it raced to the drowning girl with misty on its back. Once misty had gotten a good hold on Harumi she motioned to the surface. Starmie immediately raced up wards only to be knocked back by a thick layer of ice. Misty
let go of Starmie and struggled to keep herself and Harumi afloat while Starmie used a tackle attack over and over until the ice broke apart. Misty swam as fast as she could with Harumi still in her arms. With the help of Starmie she reached the surface just before she lost her breath. She returned Starmie and dragged Harumi\'s unconscious body across the ice to the shore. They had made it at last. The cabin was just a little farther. The viscous wind had vanished the moment they had set foot on solid ground. Harumi wasn\'t breathing and her body was perfectly still, this made Misty think the worst.
\" Harumi, Harumi wake up!\" She yelled as she shook her. Slowly Harumi\'s eyes flickered open as she sat up quick as she regurgitated the large amount of water she had swallowed. Misty patted her back as a sign of sympathy. Harumi turned around and hugged Misty.
\" Oh Misty I was so scarred I thought.......I thought..........I thought I was going to die before I ever had the chance to tell him. Thankyou so much, if you hadn\'t........\" Harumi wept more cries of thank you\'s.
\"Harumi tell who what?\" She asked as she pulled away.
\" Sei, I never would have been able to tell him I loved him\" Harumi sniffed as a light came on in the cabin. A males voice sounded from the door.
\" Hello? Who goes?\" The voice called as Harumi rose to her feet and ran towards the light.
\" Sei its me Harumi! \" She answered as she flung herself into Sei\'s arms.
\" Harumi are you OK, your soaking wet!\" He said as he held her tighter. Misty walked up to the couple and smiled as Harumi introduced them and told Sei what had happened
\"Misty, I feel indebted to you, thank you so much for saving Harumi, I don\'t know what I would have done if I had lost her\" He said as he bowed to Misty.
\" Well come on everyone lets get inside before you two catch your death out here\" he said as he scooped Harumi up in his arms. but before he reached the door Harumi stopped him.
\" Wait Sei there\'s something I need to tell you, something I should have said along time ago.\" she said as she looked into Sei\'s big brown eyes.
Sei set her down and wrapped his arms around her prtivetively
\"Tell me then\" He said softly. Harumi took a deep breath and then at long last made her confession.
\" I love you Sei, and I always have, I was just so scared that you wouldn\'t feel the same way so I never told you\" She said as she looked away from him. Sei just smiled and put his hand on her face and made her look at him. He slowly brought his lips to hers as the kissed briefly
\"And I love you Harumi\" he replied. They embraced each other tightly. Misty\'s vision began to blur as she watched the couple, her entire body swayed back and forth.
\"Misty? Misty?\"
Someone was calling her name. Suddenly Misty\'s legs gave out as she faded into darkness.
\" Misty? Misty......\" a familiar female voice called out to her.
She moaned as the throbbing in her head returned. She slowly opened her eyes as they were filled with an intense whitght.ght. Someone was leaning over her. Slowly that persons face came into focus.
\" N-Nurse Joy?\" She said as the nurse smiled.
\" Glad to see your among the living again, when we found you in the forest you looked near death, if I didn\'t know better I would have thought you had hypothermia, not to mention that nasty bump on the head.\" She said as she walked away to fetch Misty something to drink so she could take some medicine.
Misty looked around the room, Ash was there and Brock and Officer Jenny, and.......wait someone was missing.
\" Where\'s Harumi?\" She asked as Nurse Joy returned with some water and a couple of small capsules. As she handed them to Misty she thought about what she had said.
\" Harumi, Harumi........why does that name sound so familiar?\" She thought out loud.
\" Harumi Kashino?\" Officer Jenny asked looking at Misty. \" Dont tell me you believe those old ghost stories\" She said as she adjusted her hat.
\" Oh that\'s right Harumi Kashino, so tragic.... Her picture is hanging up in the lobby as a reminder of how dangerous that lake is\" Nurse joy recalled as she took the empty glass away from Misty.
Ash walked over to the bedside and looked Misty in the eyes.
\" Misty I think you bumped your head a little to hard, you should really learn to watch where your going\" he said with a slight smirk.
\"But I really did see her!\" she said frantic for someone to believe her.
\" Harumi Kashino has been dead for over 50 years, She was out walking one winters night and fell through some thin ice when she was trying to cross the lake and drowned. Legend has it that she was trying to get to her friend, who lived across the lake in the old cabin. Some people say that she loved him and never got the chance to tell him, so now her ghost attempts to cross the lake, to get to the cabin where her lost love awaits her\" Nurse Joy explained.
\" Just a silly ghost story if you ask me\" Officer Jenny said as she and Nurse Joy left the room.
\" Glad to see your doing better Misty. Ummm........I\'m just going to see if they need anything\" Brock said as he crept out the door in pursuit of the two women. Ash laughed as the door shut and he and Misty where alone.
Misty blushed. The thought of her and Ash alone in a room was awkward. She cleared her throat to get Ashes attention. He looked at her with his dark brown eyes.
\" Ash.....I um......I have to tell you something\" she said as she looked away from his steady gaze. The words refused to come as her blush increased. Well, if she couldn\'t tell him she would have to show him.\" Misty is something wrong?\" He asked as she looked at him with her bright blue eyes. She slowly lifted her face to his and brushed her soft lips against his in a quick kiss. Ash blushed bright red as he raised his hand to his lips in disbelief.
\" G-Gee Misty, what was that ?\" he said as his heart banged in his chest. She smiled at him as she answered softly.
\" Something I will never regret\".
