My dear, you did it. You have written the best Sebastian/Ciel lemon I have ever read and, arguably, the best in the fandom. Bravo; give yourself a pat on the back. Unable to gush anymore than I already have these past eight months, let me just leave you with an objective review I came up with whilst reading this chapter. Yes, that means I took notes reading porn. Waddaya gonna do.

~You never referred to either Sebastian or Ciel by their hair color ("the brunet"). THIS IS WONDERFUL.
~Love the time and imagination you spent designing and describing Sebastian's devil-body... although a small part of me is a tad disappointed to think that he wouldn't have a belly-button as belly-buttons are very sexy on sexy men. And devils. Also, I was wondering, is Sebastian's body in demon form completely hairless?
~Grown up!Ciel is awesome. "Now that you're perfectly well again, and we are back together, I will ask you if it wasn't terribly disobedient of you to do what you did to get locked here for ten years, away from me?" is awesome. And really fucking in-character. Possessive Ciel is sexy Ciel. (Would love to see some seme!Ciel in the future, maybe?)
~Old Tanaka is...awesome, and also really in-character, especially challenging considering how little he is really "himself" in canon to begin with.

Most of all though, I'm really, really glad to know that the story isn't done yet!

Keep up the excellent work, I think you have real promise in the world of legit novel writing.

    -Sincerely, Meyham

This chapter was very good; very, very good, even. I didn't expect you to draw out the timeline to 10 years, but you've written it well and believably. I'm looking forward to the next chapter... if what I think is going to be in it is going to be in it. I have a feeling you're going to be wrapping the story up shortly, but I habe some tips for you until you do.

Considering how much Ciel has aged, I suggest you give us some more detailed descriptions of what he's like now. Has his fashion sense changed, is his voice deeper, or light and airy; what style is his hair in? You have created, basically, a new Ciel; a Ciel that does not exist in canon and does not have an actual voice or even an image on paper for readers to use as reference. Our imagination can only do so much, and I think one of the qualities of a well-written OC or time-skipped character is that he/she is described in such a way that all readers share bascially the same image of that character in their minds.

You have kept everyone well in-character so far. I felt what might have been a tiny lapse of in-character-ness in this chapter, although that might have just been because Ciel and Sebastian have never, in canon, been in a situation like this before, thus leaving me (and you) without any reference to go by. However, there has been plenty of innuendo in canon as well as in other fanfiction. Therefore, I hold strong to my belief that there is a right way and a wrong way to write a lemon scene for these two, even if I don't consider them a canon couple. I suggest that you go back and re-read your previous chapters with lime content and review your writing style in those chapters. All of your limes have been excellent; write your lemon scene --and your two participants-- like you have your limes. Please be extra careful with Sebastian... you have written Ciel superbly in intimate scenes, but I sense that Sebastian might suddenly become fluffy or overly sweet in the upcoming scene. As in love with Ciel as he may be now, and despite the ten years they have been apart, please keep in mind that both in canon and thus far in this particular story, Sebastian has been a sensuously sexual being. Sensuous. Sensuous, smooth, but still passionate. Think maroon satin sheets, red wine, and dark, slightly bitter chocolate; not cotton candy and Viagra. Any behavior that has not been seen or suggested in canon, I suggest you explain using his behavior and thoughts in previous chapters. Don't leave us wondering 'Why is he doing/saying that?'.

I apologize if I suddenly seem analytical, but I've recently gone back and read some other stories from other fandoms I'd been following closely (before I honed in on this one). Rereading them has only made the difference between your writing and everyone else's more clear. I'm giving you all this advice because I want to see you remain on a completely different level than everyone else, and I want this story to remain one of the classics out there. Your moment to shine is approaching and want to see you blow your competition, and your readers, away!

    -Fingers crossed, Meyham

Still, so good. I want to say more about it, but really I'm just in utter thrall of your story-crafting skills. I honestly don't care what happens next, whether it's a happy ending or a tragedy, because you've taken us so far and I completely trust you to take us the rest of the way!

I have had the pleasure to read all chapters over the week end and I immediately fell in love with your poetic writing style. I am very curious as to how you will continue and I'm looking forward to the next update. Thank you for this wonderful story.

Wow, nice! Is that the end though? I hope not. I was hoping that in a few years he would come back and have his devilish way with the boy!

    Shit, girl done her research!

EXCELLENT chapter. One of the things I love about this fandom is how much authors have to work with when it comes to fleshing out Sebastian and any demon OCs as far as demonic folklore and terminology are concerned... and you took full advantage of that here. Well done. This is one of your best chapters, and it definitely unfolds in a way that holds up to the quality of the rest of the story (i.e. surprise ending, self-sacrificing Sebastian) however, I felt like some of Sebastian's lines should have been said from a more distant, less suddenly-intimate, way, especially when he was telling Azazel that his "friends" were the other people at the manor. I mean, even though I totally agree that he WOULD consider Bard, Mey-rin, and Finny more of his comrades than another demon, I, personally, couldn't see him ever admitting it out loud, especially as straight-forward as he did.

Other than that one little thing, I loved this chapter. I especially loved the ending (Yay, no shouta sex afterall!... maybe). I'm glad you didn't decide to have Ciel remain in the alternate plane with Sebastian and then just have them both, miraculously, come out fairly unscathed. That would've been super cheesy.

Absolutely cannot wait for the next chapter!

I just wanted to say that these last couple of chapters have been amazing. I can really see the effort that you put into the story. I hope you will forgive me for expressing my hopes that you don't time skip, however. I honestly think that might kill it for me.

I also wanted to let you know that I've done a rudimentary review of Devilish Impulses, which has been posted on my blog on DeviantArt. You can find it at thezoni.deviantart.com, if you're curious. Thanks, and keep up the good work.

I've been following your story since perhaps chapter 12 and I can honestly say that every single word you write has me wanting more and more. I've read alot of fan fiction in the past and this is the first that has actually had me crying, laughing, and everything else. Whenever Carsten took Ciel away from Sebastian my stomach muscles were fighting and I was bawling haha.
Ofcourse having read the story for this long I truely hope that the next chapter will be phenomenal like I knew it will be with you writing it.
Thank you for giving me something the look toward to every Wednesday :)

It gets better and better! Everything is out in the open now but Sebastian will die... or will he? Can't wait for more!

Oh, man, I almost cried like a hundred times! This was so good; it had a really epic, cinematic feel to it; and I love how Carsten showed up to save the day! Didn't see that coming! But what will happen now??? I'm very excited to find out!!!

Sorry I haven't reviewed in, like, three weeks! School is kind of kicking my ass...
Anyhow, I love where you've taken this story, even if it hasn't been in the direction I thought you would (Cleveland Street). I was scared for a bit though when it seemed you might have been finishing it in chapter 31 there. I mean, it would make sense in a kind of Code Geass way if Sebastian was destroyed after attaching all those chains to himself, but I could also see you having him live and pushing the story beyond that. I guess I'm just not able to imagine what-in-the-hell could happen AFTER all of this. But I have no doubt that you will be able to. Keep up the excellent work!

OMG! This is so good. It's taken me a minute to get through with my demanding boyfriend never giving me time alone to be with my computer but I've caught up, while also relating to a good friend who is also a fan of Kuroshitsuji all the juicy details, I now want to scream in anticipation for the next chapter.

Interesting that these forces of balance are quite literal, and are represented by chains. I wasn't certain at first that this was meant to be so literal, and then worried a bit about how it could be pulled off, but I really like the idea; it's reminiscent of the strange anachronistic "cinematic records" that the shinigami have to work with. I also liked the inclusion of fairies and elves in with all the rest... because why not? There's not a whole lot of effort in the anime/manga to keep the different belief systems/cultures distinct, so why not go all out here? It's certainly intriguing!!!

A few chapters back, when Ciel was thinking and worrying about getting old, leaving Sebastian all alone... I have to admit, that had me bawling like a baby. But then we have the reverse happening here, which I should have seen coming, but totally didn't: Sebastian is really the one who appears to be going away, leaving Ciel all alone! Both are sad! I'm wondering if Ciel will be able to put a stop to it all, or if Sebastian is really going to have to end up dying, in order to finish what he started and fix this imbalance. If that does happen, where will he go? It would be sad if he went somewhere that Ciel couldn't follow... although I wonder if a soul who pledged itelf to a demon can be saved, even if the contract is unfulfilled? Hmmmm... I can't wait to find out!

(It also made me ridiculously sad when he heard Ciel's call but had to ignore it, and then refocused by getting himself hurt. The other question this bodes is... even while gaining all this new power, will Sebastian be able to hold off the hordes if he has to constantly shift focus into not destroying the world?)

But definitely can't wait to see what continues here! I have a bad feeling that if Ciel goes in there, he'll just end up a target for all of these creatures who now know Sebastian's true motives. Hopefully he won't end up dead, then all this would be for nothing! Or I suppose Sebastian's need to protect Ciel could cause Sebastian to slip up somehow. And what, oh what will happen if/when Lizzie finds out about Ciel and Sebastian!?!?!

    Great chapter, though very foreboding!
