Yep, this one is definitely as intersting, if not more so, as 'Goodnight Moon'. It has intrigue, humor, a little action (lawlz with Kira and L in both ways XD, just basically everything a good story needs. Kudos on creating such a well flowing story. I'm kind of envious, really XD

Well, can't wait to keep seeing what happens next!

I think that Near is underestimating L and Kira. He'll believe that they'll be caught soon. I don't think he realizes yet just how big a threat both of them together is. Both of them are genius's after all. It'll take more than that to catch them. Now it's kinda like a game of cat and mouse and catch me if you can. You gotta feel bad for Light's family though.

Chapter 2

Your whole portrayal of Near is awesome. (Near's not my favourite or anything... *hides Near keychains and white wig for cosplay*) Although I loved the entire chapter, I think I have to say that my favourite line wasn't part of the story.

It took a while for Light and L to get to know each other, and it will take some time for Kira and L to piss each other off enough.

I'm looking forward to it. ♥

Mm... I like how Near's so damn childish. I sorta quit reading the manga after L died; couldn't bring myself too, so I don't know too much about Mello, Near, and Matt. Though I get the 'I Despise Near' rant from my friend and the love for Matt from my other friend. Very amusing. Only the latter thinks I'm crazy for liking yaoi/shonen-ai; but hey, she's from Texas. Still, I was born in Japan and raised for twelve years in Alberta before moving to Ontario. Alberta's pretty conservative; and she's even more so! Kinda funny...

Well it's after midnight here, on a school night; and I'm writing PWPs. Any ideas or suggestions for one? I feel like writing pointless porn right now...

You know a band that goes well with Death Note? Nightwish. Go listen to some of their stuff; it's excellent.

woohoo for the new chapter and hooray for sexual tension! Thank the imaginary god for it!!
About the capoeira thing: I didn't want to give the impression of know-it-all; in fact, I just know my group's style fairly well, which puts a lot of emphasis on efficiency and technique. I take L for an efficient person, in a "get the job done" way, so for me he simply doesn't need to show off. Acrobatics in capoeira are in fact a means to show superiority, kind of like a peacock's tail in martial arts. Just I like simplicity more, and just the (extremely) small amount of combat classes we had told me that fighting normally is ugly, fast and as efficient as can be. But hey, the point was that L owned Light, so why would anything need to be rewritten? Btw, my first impressions her in Brazil are that people here often use only acrobatics and super-high kicks (above your oppontent/the other player) which is really kind of pointless and just flashy. L did get him, after all.
Speaking about character traits like simplicity: I think Near is the worst enemy possible. In my opinion, he's not the kind of emotionless guy who just hides emotion or values ratio more, but he really doesn't have social feelings/instincts. He doesn't relate to others, he's just autistic. L on the other hand is more likely the "I reign over my emotions"-type. Contrary, Light and Mello almost always follow their emotions, even if they don't want to admit it. In Light's case, I'm not referring to his feelings towards L (which his conscious mind takes great efforts to explain alternatively... great kisser... yeah right...), but to his vanity, pride and megalomania. His ultimate goal is not to create a better world, but to create a world where he is acknowledged as God/superior being. Had he wanted to simply improve the situation for most ppl be cleansing the world of criminals, he could have gone about it with more secrecy, using less obvious means of death to kill them off. Basically, he's lying about his goal.
One thing about the last chapter: Light used white bars to obscure parts of his face; I'd guess he put them in after the recording on his laptop, instead of, say, gluing pieces of paper to the lens of the camera. In that case, shouldn't he have edited out the "turning away"-part simply out of fear to show his surrounding, thus hinting at his whereabouts?
I'm also really thrilled to know about his reasons for the broadcast; a challenge for Near? In hope that he also might give something away like L did when he and Light were fighting in the beginning of DN? Plus: I can't wait to see L's reaction to the broadcast...

*half sleepy* I cannot believe I spelled Ryuk wrong....*thumps head on keyboard* I didn't realize until after I posted my review.

actually the drawing is coming along better than I though...I haven't been inspired in ages but it still doesn't look...right. *shrugs* I should be done and posting it on my da or my livejournal in a few days or the new time you update if the scanner at the library still is up and working.

I really enjoy reading this at work as well as the fact that it's so in character that it's not even funny. I loved the manga but the main reason why I liked L and Light because many people who watch the anime swear by Raito and Misa since they won't join the dark side of yaoi (but godness...the women in death note are kinda sad except for Naomi Misora, who is my personal favorite.)

Bah enough ranting; still pulling my hair for the next chapter. Oh and for Kira's point of view...don't agree on it 210%. Manly because it shows how childish and short minded he is, for a genius. And this chapter proves that he acts like an addict without the deathnote (which made sense in the manga too...) *images raito in rehab and threating to kill everyone once he get his death note back*

...I wonder what the other pairings are......rester and near? .......I actually like near and stephan...creepy as it sounds.

Great chapter! It's really coming along! I got completely lost in this chapter - normally when I'm reading something it's at an objective distance, I'm still very aware of things around me and so forth (quite often thinking of things like shopping and my own writing and god damn have I fed the cat yet at the same time...), but this chapter was quite engrossing!

Your whole plot line is twisty and I love it! It's all very similar to the original where there's a lot to think about but it' still easy to follow. I think a lot of people make that mistake when writing for DN, they try to add the plot twists and planning in that the original series had but just end up confusing their readers with too much detail and obscure references that the mentioned 80 chapters previous... :S

But it's going well! I'm really enjoying the interaction between Kira, L and Ryuuk. I loved the bit after they'd kissed and it was a kinda awkward silence and the shinigami just started laughing. And for once, Near didn't annoy the crap out of me (which is a feat, let me tell you!) He's actually kinda likable, the way you write him!

Hope you like the new chapter when it's up! I'm very nervous about it! Keep up the awesome work! *hugs*

Yay another good one much cake for you. And I have to be honest about somehting I know Near was the next in line to be L and was chosen by L himself but could the child be any more stuck up? He acts like nothing else exists but his toys and seems a little emo to me. I mean yes I realize that he's hard pressed to find anyone that understands his mind, but Near? Ever tried socializing a bit? I mean even L made friends (maybe the wrong sort but still friends). Someone give the kid some sugar maybe it'll loosen him up a bit. But yes I am enjoying your story and L is lucky Light didn't break his other arm with that stunt, but if it worked perhaps next chapter he can get him to take it further. *shameless begging for more sex scenes* Also I am trying to go about maybe drawing L in some sort of scantalyzing pose but I can't quite figure out how I wanted to draw some art for your fic, but I can't quite pick the scene I wish to do I was wondering if you had a favorite you'd like to see in art form and I'll do my best to draw it for you. Let me know and keep up the good work. I am quite enjoying every chapter you produce.

Nothing like being able to read an update before work, even if I don't get around to writing a review until evening...

Well played, Kira. I can't wait to see how L will react. I think that was probably the best thing Kira could possibly have done; he made a personal announcement (which in itself should strengthen the opinions and the resolve of those who already supported him) and stated that even L is on his side now (which will probably go a long way in gaining him more public support). This is a very interesting plot development with a lot of potential for all parties involved. It serves L right, and I'm feeling a bit vindictively happy about that, for all of the things he's put Light through previously. It also ought to remind him that he did voluntarily choose to accompany Kira - even if not for the reason Kira argued, that L has become a Kira-supporter - and that's something he needs to take responsibility for. I suppose he has, considering he realizes Watari and Near will be after him, but a reminder is always healthy.

And the speculation from the Near team was pretty interesting, too. I'm not surprised Near pieced it together to some extent, but the discussions about whether L and Light are sexing or fighting are fun. When they first noticed the bruise, I was half expecting it to be a hickey, or something. But knowing what they do of L, it's only reasonable for the team to conclude that, regardless of the way L and Kira feel about each other on some personal level, L's morals are exceedingly unlikely to change. I hope he doesn't actually end up using the Death Note. I don't expect that he will, even if he does consider it, but I just can't picture a situation where he would deem it necessary to use himself. He seems more likely to be intent on destroying it.

Well, the destruction of it depends on the rule, I suppose... L seems convinced, as of the second to last chapter, that the rule is probably false, but I'm not so sure. Kira was using it again this chapter, meaning it's still in a usable form, and I am reasonably certain the rule only applies if the Death Note is destroyed so much that it is no longer usable. Maybe L thought that was the case, but after he sees the news he sure won't think so. So it is unclear to me whether or not the rule is intended to be fake, or if L is just contemplating that personally. I am not sure yet if that will be a plot point, or if it was just part of that one chapter.

My favorite scene in this chapter was Kira staring out the window, and L coming up behind him and commenting on his tension. Kira's thoughts were very somber somehow; very introspective, which seems to be something he hasn't been much of since being constantly in L's rather distracting presence. I also really like the dynamics of their relationship right now for some reason, with L coming on to Kira rather than the other way around - I find it more interesting this way. I feel like Kira might even be open to deluding himself into L being interested in him due to his (Kira's) own superiority and godliness, if he weren't so certain of the constant mind games, but the fact that Kira himself feels something for L, regardless of how strongly he tries to suppress or disregard it, makes it all the more entertaining and leads to a whole lot of sexual tension.

Hmm, I also don't know if it is still possible to sympathize with Kira. I strongly do, but the way I like characters also seems to be the way that most other people I know dislike them, so I'm probably not a very good representative sample. I really do adore your Kira, though; he is the perfect combination of arrogance, malice, contemplation, and thinly-veiled frustration, and your L is his ideal counterpart in every way who does a fantastic job of exacerbating the situation. I like Kira best when he feels like he is on top of the world just as L kicks his feet out from under him; it's very fitting and his frustration is so realistically characterized here.

I really hope you get the green light to post links to the fanart people have created for this. I'm not at all artistically inclined myself, so I really enjoy seeing what others are able to create for things that I like.

Yay!!...I loove that L came in the room all sexy with his hand in his pocket fresh outta the shower *Drools*...I love the description given on L...makes me VERY HAPPY :) :) He's soooo Cute i mean just Wow! And your story portrays that so well i could cry...Anyway on to the review...Lets see here there's a fic out there called miscalculation or has a chapter caled that i think it might be by chanceXIII...I think Kira has made a bit of a miscalculation... i guess being pressed for time had to be a factor in the lack of the big picture thing...Kira has made them an even bigger target world wide...Near the little creep i pray he's not gonna get my Light-Kira again cause where he is L is and i don't won't that to happen at all *Puppy dog eyes full power* Hopefully L will realize a way to get them out of the situation...Not sure if i'm a Kira supporter per se but he got to me in the last episode when he was asking for someone to help him don't really care to see that warehouse episode repeated again in that way...A twist would definitely be preferred if that's the place they all happen to gather again Hmmmm...I've always wondered why Kira never just took out all the politicians and claimed HE would be the World leader with his God complex (thinks of FOB sugar,we're going down swinging) but maybe he thinks running all the governments would be beneath him or bore him and they should just recognize his god Status and bow before him? ...Hmmm anyway nice chapter Matsuda makes me laugh he does have a completely romanticized view of what is happening ne? ...oh might we hear L's thought's on the kiss and insueing News cast?...So yeah can't wait for the next chapter...XD

Yeah! Kira went on live broadcast and told everyone that L was on his side! Take that Near! Now everyone is going to know that he's not the real L. He's just a little brat pretending to be L. HA! As if he could ever hold a candle to the real L. With L and Kira together it'll be near impossible to catch them. Not to mention that Misa is also helping Light kill criminals. That should get him some more followers with that broadcast.

I'm amazed by the amount of effort you put into planning out your chapters. This is turning into a very serious alternative story to the real DN (with the yaoi twist of course). XD
